We ordered 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 chicken, Jalapeño popper, pint of cole slaw, single bbq bean. Brisket was tasty, chicken seasoning was good, we had mixed of white and dark meat cut up already. The bacon around the jalapeño was a good, stuff with cream cheese and pork inside. Level of heat was mild. Cole slaw was strange with pineapple and cranberry kinda sweet. Oh man. This is the kind of brisket that makes people fall in love with BBQ, ok? Let's just get that out there up front. The rub, the tenderness, the flavor...perfection. TLDR is you need to make this spot a regular in your rotation. You only need to keep reading if you want to read about how much I liked the rest of the food, too. But the brisket. The brisket is royal. The brisket is everything. The brisket is life. First of all, the staff is incredibly friendly and awesome. Then, while ordering, they gave us samples of things we were interested in so of course we kept ordering more. They cut the meat at the counter and sell it by weight. Buy as much as you can possibly eat, honestly. For the meat, we tried the brisket (i'm literally just going to see how many times I can mention it), the pulled pork (regular and Carolina), the pork ribs, the sausage (green chile and regular). The pulled pork was incredibly moist and tender, the ribs were excellent, and the green chile sausage had a heat that built so well with such good flavor. Then we had the okra, mac n cheese, coleslaw and creamed corn as sides. Plus some rice they insisted on us taking to try for free. The sides are honestly just as good as the meat. The okra was great, and the cream corn had the perfect flavor profile and consistency. The mac pasta was a little over cooked with a pretty bland sauce but we don't even care because the coleslaw is the brisket of the sides here. The coleslaw was nothing that I was expecting and everything I didn't know I wanted from a side dish. It was like have a decadent Thanksgiving meal in a single side. Cranberries and pineapple have never been so perfect? The brisket and coleslaw would make a heavenly last meal. There's two options for bbq sauce - regular and spicy. I thought the spicy was the better of the two, but I'm one of those annoying people who put green chile on literally everything and asks for hot sauce at every restaurant. But the brisket is so amazing it needs no sauce. We will be back over and over again. Duke City is now in our regular rotation and our go-to for BBQ in 'Burque! All hail their brisket! read more

Hands down best BBQ you will get in Albuquerque. Variety of sauces that will please any pallet. Brisket is great, ribs where phenomenal. Sides are executed well, I highly recommend the torpedos, which are like a jalapeño popper, but are stuffed with pulled pork and cream cheese, the spice of the jalapeño and the sweet cream cheese, smoky pork, and fatty bacon combine to make an amazing appetizer. The okra is great, nice and crispy, seasoned to perfection, just as good as you could find in the south. I forgot part of my order and the owner chased down my car to make sure I got it. Was looking forward to good BBQ here after reading reviews but had to return the pork ribs after eating one and gagging because it was spoiled meat. The brisket was very chewy and fatty. The smoked turkey was however good as was the Mac and cheese. Don't get the banana pudding...all cool whip and brown bananas. I think someone there really needs to work on their quality control. When you can find Brisket that you avoid using barbeque sauce on because the flavor of the brisket alone is sooooo good, you have found a great restaurant. The pulled pork and brisket are on point. Juicy and delicious (we almost had leftovers)! Tried the beans and corn for sides. Both were great. Ordered some Mac and Cheese, and just could not find the room. We will have to sample that tonight even though that's not the same thing. Service was great, what can I say. Great service (had a free sausage sample while waiting in a relatively quick line). Team was friendly and attentive and I was in and out fast. My wife and I got a 2 meat combo to go (Carolina pulled pork and brisket). We picked fries for our side and then added beans and creamed corn sides. Beans and creamed corn were awesome. We FINALLY found a good BBQ place that we both like and enjoy. We ordered the Brisket, pulled pork, ribs, mac & cheese & a potato salad. Everything and I do mean "everything" was absolutely delectable. The smokey flavor that the food had was absolutely incredible. The brisket was our absolute favorite of the 3. I love how nice and accommodating the staff was. They were all so friendly. The woman in the front even gave us a sample of the cheddar sausage and it was delicious. The restaurant is nice, clean and has ample seating that is comfortable. I love that they have a condiment station with all the fixings you need for your entree. You will find things like (pickles, onions, jalapeños , barbecue sauce, ketchup, different hot sauces, sugar, lids, straws, toothpicks & napkins). Conflicted about this place! The brisket was absolutely delicious. Probably the best brisket I've ever had! Melt in your mouth delicious. But after that everything was pretty meh. Mac and cheese tasted like nothing? Rice was meh, pulled pork was a tad dry, fries were good though! I was really bummed because I got a banana pudding but it just tasted like cinnamon and whipped cream? As someone who travels the country for work I'm very well rounded in bbq,regardless of where it's from Texas,Georgia,South Carolina,Kansas city,Florida you name it. They all have their own styles of bbq. I moved to Albuquerque about 8 months ago and have tried a large majority of local bbq places ,there's not many here. I would put this place up against some of the best I have ate at across the entire country. Never thought I would find bbq this good in Albuquerque. I just ate at Duke City BBQ and I left hungry. The brisket was hard to eat because it was 70% fat and 30% meat that was not tender! The fries were not fresh cut and had a yucky covering on them & the beans were not totally cooked.. THE REAL REVIEW: 1) the spicy BBQ sauce is the best of best ever. 2) the plain BBQ sauce is runny and weak (safe for 6 mo. old babies, with no spice, just ketchup, honey, brown sugar and maybe a little liquid smoke. 3) ribs are great, nice coating and tender and meaty, about $3.75 each. 4) the brisket is almost mushy, cut along the grain, and although it's greasy the actual fibers are dry from the over cooking to make it too tender. 5) Jalapeno Torpedo's are really really good, filled with cream cheese and mushy brisket paste, and wrapped in partially done bacon. really good flavor and mild to medium heat. just a little more done on the bacon would be better but not to a hard crispy. I will review more as I try different things. rating might come up but only if something exceptional comes up to outweigh the brisket. read more

Ok Albuquerque and beyond. There is a very bright star shining down on the BBQ scene. Duke City BBQ offers us an array of delicious Texas style BBQ with a southwest flair. We ordered a BBQ bowl with tasty BBQ brisket, fantastic pinto beans, and the best green chile rice. We also ordered the biggest smoked beef rib that I have ever had in my life. No chance, "County Line" you have been left in the dust. The Rib was smoky, juicy, and so on point with flavor. BBQ sauces were excellent. With every bite, a " yum" sound was heard.
