They are definitely going through some new opening pains as most people around us were missing items from their order as were we. Came here for a work outing and enjoyed it! Lots of drink options, even mocktails. I had the lions, tigers and pears which was very good. We had appetizers to share - I personally tried the cauliflower and pretzel. Both were good but the pretzel was incredible and I would highly recommend it. For dinner I had the lobster mac and cheese which was a huge portion of mac and cheese with lobster mostly shredded and added in. There were some chunks in there which were the best part. Tons of options for all variety of diets - from vegan to gluten free. I would recommend trying it out! You can even bring your pup. read more

I stopped in for lunch for the first time, on a cold day and was seated in front of the fireplace, I ordered the soup and sandwich combo, a Reuben sandwich and French onion soup and l couldn't resist a side of their homemade potato chips. The Reuben was fantastic, the soup was extra salty but still very good and the potato chips were super light and super crunchy, very good, not greasy at all. This was our third time coming to Duke's. I really want to like it. The food is really good however, our service was terrible. We waited a long time even for our drink order. Once we were able to receive our food my friend had a hair in her burger. The staff questioned this asking if it was just "cheese". That was insulting. Then we waited a long time for her burger to be reordered. I felt embarrassed because I recommended this restaurant and then it didn't live up. I will think twice before coming again. read more

We were finally able to eat at dukes on the covered heated patio this winter! Things to know there is VERY limited parking so go early to get a spot. Nice inside but we are on the patio as we brought our dog. Very dog friendly with the cutest menu for pups!! We had brunch, great selection and my husband said it was the best eggs Benedict he's ever had! I had a scramble also delicious! $5 mimosas and bloody s on Saturday! I have typically enjoyed my experiences at Duke's, but we unintentionally visited for the brunch buffet this afternoon and it was extremely disappointing. After starting with cold roasted veggies and weirdly mushy and syrupy fresh fruit, I was done. You'd think the server would notice or react when I mentioned my negative feedback, but nope. Food is generally quite good as you would expect and service is friendly. We attended a Mother's day brunch which we were quite happy with. The only thing that I don't get is why they insist on adding a service charge to the check when most people who go out to eat hate those kind of things. VERY, VERY long wait for apps (tamale cakes were quite good, seared tuna was nothing special). The waitress apologized several times and said things would be better with entrees. She also indicated that manager would come over again (he came after apps arrived to ask how they were - no mention of the long wait), and possibly do something to make good (he did neither). The entrees came a bit quicker; 2 were quite good but the burger order was wrong in many ways (ordered "pink", was not, asked for no mayo or pickle, came with both, tomatoes were green, as were the additional ones that were brought out after asking if there were any that were ripe). And, just to make things a bit worse, the burger was cold! These things happen - especially to a new place that was quite busy. But the manager should have done more to make up for it. The five of us went to Dukes on a Sunday night. We ate indoors as the outdoor patio was full. The decor is great, we were extremely hopeful. We waited for over 45 minutes to get our food. Our food arrived, my step-daughter ordered sweet potato fries, she received regular fries. I ordered the roasted chicken, I received pork. I will never go back, I was hoping we could add a local restaurant as a new regular stop...we won't be returning anytime soon. Nachos with cucumbers.. most chips empty, overall below average. Burger royal was odd, bad bun, too sweet, with some kind of taziki style sauce? Ordered kids hamburger with avocado, arrived with cheese. (Server confirmed I said no cheese) Ordered a 2NF cocktail, 15 minutes later the bar still hadn't started it so we ask for the tab and left. We made our way to the outside patio as we waited for our reservation to be called as the hostess said that we could freely sit out there or at the bar and order while we wait. It was super busy so we didn't mind waiting to be helped. After 10 min waters arrived. We waited another 10-15min used our phones to look at the food menu (knew what we wanted ) then asked the same young man that brought us our waters for a cocktail menu as the online menu only displayed beer and food. He promptly brought them out. Just as quickly as he did he was bombarded by the manager whom I recognized standing around the bar. She was extremely brash and barked "No, No, No we are not doing this! We are not serving them out here! I explained to her the hostess said we could sit out here and be served. The manager said we could sit just not be served due to the incoming storm. That's a totally reasonable explanation I could understand especially being that I was in the service industry for many years but, let's get all staff on board. As a manager she should've came over and greeted us like she was doing around the bar. We definitely had the look of folks sitting waiting to order. Especially since the manager, barback and bartender had all at one point made eye contact with me. She needs to check her attitude at the door before she clocks in. While the atmosphere on the patio is great, the food really doesn't sell the place. It was a low-60 degree October evening so it really wasn't busy on the patio for the time we went. The service was quite slow, but not to the point of it being annoying. The drinks were good, but pricey/downtown Minneapolis range prices. However, the food was not great. We had a couple apps as a group and neither of them were good enough for us to order again. And we found a hair in one of them ... never good. Our entrees were mediocre, which included the Yum Yum Bowl, Phuket, Rotisserie Chicken Salad Sandwich and the Royale Burger. By the time I get there pick it up (at 5:25) and get home the food was cold. On top of it, my order wasn't correct and had items that were asked to be withheld smothered on. First time visitor. My first impression were the really tight parking spaces. You can hardly fit a normal size sedan in the spots. Come on. Tow signs if you park in adjacent lots. Menu is okay, nothing great. Very typical items. Ordered the Royale with Cheese. Not sure why they ask if you want it pink or not since the patties are so thin. Kinda like a Mc'Ds burger. Flavor was good. Monday special for $5 off burger with a drink made it worth it. I am tired of restaurants promoting 16oz beer pours in 12oz glasses. This place does the same thing. The patio is great and It's great thats its dog friendly. The downside 90% of it is in the sun so on hot days it might be better to leave the pup at home. If you are Gluten free do not eat here. They have gluten free options but I have celiac and have gotten severely sick both times. If it wasn't for having celiac and getting sick I would give Dukes a 4 out of 5. Great bar and outdoor patio, but inside way too loud. Ordered the Poke Bowl and dining partner had the Thai Shrimp Salad. Enjoyed drinks and then the server brought us Sticky Ribs and the Poke Bowl, quickly returning to the kitchen when they realized something had been entered incorrectly. Happens. Glad the wait person recommended the siracha sauce on the side as otherwise the dish would have had no flavor. Nothing was seasoned, not even the "poke". I am used to tuna poke with at least a little soy, sesame oil and green onion. This was just unseasoned fish. (Go try the tuna poke at Sushi Fix and call what I had poke). Clearly a burger joint. First off Duke's on 7 just opened so this review may contradict many of the current reviews on yelp. Let's start with the walk in. So when my fiance and I walked into this restaurant/bar we we treated by one of Duke's nice hostesses and seated fairly quickly. 5/5 right there for establishing a spot for us quickly even though they were busy. Than our waitress fetched us our appetizer of boneless Wings and 2 Arnold Palmers and had put our main orders in as well too. There was a table next to us that had more problems with there orders and the waiter said I'm sorry we just opened and are short on help your food will take 10 more minutes and the dad at that table next to us looked hungry and frusterated but very understanding. So I feel for the family next to us and respect the kindness they gave the waitress even though they experienced some food delays on there opening weekend. The manager did alot of nice things for customers by offering his beat hospitality during the shortage of there employees. My fiance and I got our food a heck of alot quicker we had gotten our wings 5 minutes prior to our main mean so we had chowed down our boneless wings with that yummy Guava bbq sauce. I have to say the sauce is delicious and wings were comparable to buffalo wild wings no joke it's a good thing. Than our main course came and my brisket sandwhich was full of flavor and absolutely amazing would have this sandwhich again. Literally made to perfection and the toys were nice and crispy which is excellent. So I'd say the brisket grill cheese 5/5 best sandwhich so far. My fiance liked her chicken club but she didn't like how the bread didn't hold together with all the fixings they shoveled inside her sandwhich which is unfortunate. I would advise switching to a heavier bun that would be able to tolerate the condiments better with the sandwhich. So my fiance was like eh...however this is my review and I have to say if your in the minnetonka/Excelsior area give Duke's a try they also offer a full dog menu and offer dog seating outside and offer a full pet friendly menu for your canine pal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who comes through this area. They will work there bugs and kinks out I promise. I was extremely satisfied. read more

came in for an early dinner on their first saturday open and we could not have been more impressed! from beginning to end we had an amazing experience. the hostesses were extremely friendly. we were given a fifteen minute wait time but they were able to get us a table before we were even able to get drinks from the bar. our server, josie, was incredibly kind, personable, efficient, and took care of us and any questions we had she sought the answers for us rather than making assumptions. dragon bloody mary = excellent spicy and smoky flavor sunset slush = amazing tropical alcoholic treat strawberry sangria = fruity and delicious puppy love = great flavor (i will say, this had a slightly mineral taste to it that i think may have come from the ice it was shaken with, but i still drank the whole thing!) cheese curds = amazing. 10/10. everything i expect from cheese curds. pretzels = fluffy, salty, crispy, and DELICIOUS bone in wings = AMAZING smoke flavor on top of the buffalo sauce boneless wings = thai chili sauce was incredible. wings could be a bit crispier, but still delicious brisket grilled cheese = amazing flavor! one slice of bread got a little soggy from all the sauce, but it did not take away from this sandwich and finally, the steak philly = deliciously tender meat and great bread, but i think the sauce could be punched up a little bit more with flavor to really make this sandwich amazing. one of the things i found most impressive and hope they keep up is how quick and hot our food came out! i love to eat my food as soon as it's ready and even i had to let it cool down a little before i dug in. incredible kitchen and expediting staff working together! all in all we had an incredible experience and look forward to coming back soon! can't wait to see how this place grows! read more
