We had a Baby Shower here on Saturday, July 20, for 20 people in The Den party room. Our coordinator Brooke was the absolute best! Responsive, clear and timely communication, understood our needs and made sure the space/layout was adequate. The day of, the manager (I cannot recall her name), dedicated server (Ricardo), and all the staff were attentive to our party guests with beverage orders, and timely serving of our food (we had apps, and then turned over to Italian buffet), as well as clearing plates, replacing silverware/napkins. Had a great time catching up with a friend here for dinner! We wanted to sit outside (the patio looks amazing, not to mention it's dog friendly!), but the wait was 1+ hour on a Tuesday. We ended up choosing to wait only 15 minutes for an inside table. It's unfortunate they don't take any reservations. We split a layered boozy slushy drink that came in a bucket (see attached photo). It was almost too pretty to drink! For food we both got the Phuket. It had great flavor and spice. I definitely would come back to this place. I made my first trip to Duke's On 7 last week and got a chance to enjoy their outdoor winter greenhouses. The visit there was definitely festive! The Greenhouses provide a great amount of heat to keep you warm and with a group of friends its a nice area that is quiet so you can socialize. We had an appetizer board and for an entrée, I had the Lobster Mac. The service was amazing. There was no question that we were going to be checked up on regularly in case we needed refills and the knowledge of their menu was awesome. I felt the boneless wings left a little to be desired, but the pretzels, Cheese curds and the kettle chips were all tasty. The Sauces they had available were also perfect for pairing. I fell in love with their Guava BBQ Hot Chic sauce. My Lobster mac was solid, though could have been a little thicker. Some friends Ordered the Ahi Bowl and the Salmon Quinoa and both enjoyed it. Their drinks were very well balanced and I felt like you got your moneys worth. Overall I would recommend that you make the trip and have an experience with friends in their "Igloos" there is a minimum tab needed for the dining experience but if you have enough people it really is not hard to make that! read more

Our service seemed pretty lackadaisical. Our appetizer came out, buffalo cauliflower, there was no buffalo sauce on them except for a couple drops on the plate. We were so hungry that we started picking at it slowly waiting for our server to check in. But 15 minutes had gone by and by that point we finished the dish so I wasn't going to complain about not enjoying it. I got my entree and it took 10 minutes for our server to stop by and notice my wife hadn't received hers. It was also not busy by any means. To add to everything, I've been feeling very unwell and can be fairly certain it is not caused by anything else I ate yesterday. Darn I so want them to succeed! They just keep greatly missing the mark. It is a GREAT place to bring your pup on a lovely summer day and order drinks, a bone for the dog, and maybe a simple appetizer. The service is fresh-faced, earnest and cheerful. But it just can't be taken seriously for its food. We've tried it a dozen times to give it a chance. The cheese curds usually come without any cheese left in them. The tamale cakes sounded amazing but just ended up tasteless and weird. It's a total joke that they ask you if you want "pink" or "no pink" for your hamburger: after half a dozen visits we confirmed that the only choice is overcooked, no matter if you send it back 3 times. The blue fig treatment is delicious enough you can maybe ignore a burnt burger, but it would truly be fantastic if only they used better quality beef and a thicker patty that could be finessed with cooking. The walleye has been way overcooked on two occasions, and the brunch items just end up weird. Either they are ordering substandard food quality items or their chef just can't stand the pressure of cooking for a large restaurant. This is about as bad of food as it gets in the western suburbs and I truly wish they would do something about it to get the right balance. There are legions out here to support them if they could just get the right formula. read more

Went on a date night with the wife and new baby, the minute we walked in my son began to cry. I thought he was just being fussy newborn baby but little did I know that he knew the food was horrible. I got the 10-hour smoked ribs and let me tell you, they were definitely smoked 10 hours because the first bite I took I almost choked from the dryness of the Sahara desert. These ribs were so dry I had to drink a sip of water with every bite, extra bbq sauce didn't work nothing could. Maybe try smoking them for 5 or 6 hours so they retain a little moisture and not looking like my grandmas feet. My wife got the beef stroganoff and let me tell you that this just tasted like some noodles and crème of mushroom and a whole bottle of white wine reduced. I think the cooks could benefit from a cooking school I took in high school, I got a B+. I took the ribs home to let my dogs try it and for comparison they eat poop outside they find. Living in the West Metro, I've been to many Craft & Crew restaurants (Pub 819, Stanley's, The Block) and appreciate how they offer a diverse, yet approachable, menu and a fun atmosphere. That formula has worked time and time again across their many locations and I was happy to see it also in full force at their latest location -- Duke's on 7. Intrigued mostly because my Dad's name is Duke and I thought it would be fun to take him there next time he's in town, I stopped by Duke's last night with a friend around 4:30 for happy hour and an early dinner. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the place was packed. But again, it was Friday afternoon in the summer and my first impression was how badly folks were parking in the parking lot. As part of the renovation, the parking lot had recently been repaved and parking spaces repainted. The spots are a little tight and with the clientele mostly driving gigantic SUV's, I counted nearly a dozen cars parked in multiple spots. This domino effect causing the already tight parking lot to become a mess. If parking was bad at 4:30, I shudder to think what it's like at 6 or 7. On top of it, Craft & Crew must have angered the neighboring businesses as I saw actual security guards preventing folks from parking in the lots of nearby places. Who would have thought parking at a restaurant so far in the suburbs would be an issue?! If you're lucky enough to get a spot, expect to have lots of door dings when you come back... As mentioned above, Duke's continues the same well-trodden Craft & Crew formula. Its transformation from Christo's included a complete remodel, with a fun and inviting atmosphere for the dining room and a large (albeit steamy and only partially shaded) patio space. The menu includes several Craft & Crew mainstays (don't worry the Brisket grilled cheese is here) as well as many items unique to Duke's. Food is a bit pricey for what you get and its quality is just slightly above average. It's not great, but it's consistent and not bad, either, with the menu truly offering something for everyone -- making it (and any Craft & Crew spot) a safe place to entertain out-of-town guests. We sat on the patio and, while it is supposedly dog friendly, keep your four-legged friends at home. The patio is only partially shaded and gets hot really fast. I felt bad for the couple of dogs I saw there that were clearly uncomfortable, the astroturf doing little to absorb the heat clearly radiating up from the concrete below... Our waitress was nice, but service was incredibly slow. Despite the news of employee shortages, there was a lot of staff around yesterday, but it was clear everyone is still "figuring it out." I imagine things will get faster as everyone settles into the routine. The folks that were there yesterday were all clearly locals. My friend and I (both in our 30's) found ourselves surrounded by wealthy Boomers and, while it was still early, I suspect the majority of their patrons fall in this category. Giving Duke's 3 out of 5. Food and drinks were good, but average. Atmosphere and service were fun but, wow, that parking lot is going to be a nightmare. Pro tip - If you can, I'd recommend carpooling or a ride share. There were folks circling for spots when my friend and I left at 6. read more

I have read a lot of 1-3 star reviews on this place but wanted to try it out anyway. We went with the family: five adults, two kids, and two dogs. The patio is spacious and had some shade. The outdoor bar was stunning! Right at 11:00 there were less dogs than I expected but it filled up quickly with a greyhound's birthday party. They have an average beer selection but the menus were not updated so we played the "oh we're actually out of that one" game for a bit but eventually we got one! We had an order of the buffalo cauliflower which we were told is not at all spicy. I agree with this description but my mother in law said it was too spicy. I guess you'll have to test that one out yourself! The vegan dill sauce had good flavor but was pretty runny. We also had the dry run wings which were good but a little sweet for our taste. As we waited for the food, our young dog was whining a little because he wanted to play with another dog. Our server asked if we wanted a bone to keep him busy. At first I hesitated but she has a knack for up selling! We got two Frozen Smoked Beef Marrow Bones. It was so cute! They each came in their own bowl and kept the dogs busy throughout the meal. My sister in law and I ordered the breakfast sausage sandwich and creamy hash. Absolutely excellent! The creamy has reminded me of a hash brown/creamed mushroom type dish. My husband got the Pork and Queso Smash Hash and brother-in-law got the Corned Beef Smash Hash. The "smash hash" was a few smashed potatoes which they both found underwhelming. The kids meals were standard. Honestly, the chicken tenders look pretty good!! It seems like the service is the reason for many of the low reviews but they are relatively new, still working out the kinks, and there's a shortage of servers everywhere. Well I wish I could say if the food was good or bad but sadly we waited 90 minutes (were there for 2.5 hours and were told when we got there food would take 40-55 min and were totally ok with this) and never got our food. Not only did we not get our food but we were told that we had to order new food and not what we ordered bc it had been "sitting in the window too long" and that menu was done. Aka we were forgotten. Now I want mention that this was opening weekend on a gorgeous MN Sunday so I am sensitive to that 1000% but the manager never even came out to talk to us. Thx for comping our sodas though, smdh. Super disappointing visit. As frequent patrons of Pub 819 we were very excited to finally they Dukes. Arrived at about 2 o clock on Saturday afternoon 10/7 and the restaurant was mostly quiet. We were seated promptly at a table in the bar. After seeing no service for several minutes we decided to move to the actual bar top. The bartender greeted us about five minutes later. She seemed a little out of it. She asked what we wanted to drink and provided us menus. My husband ordered a beer and I ordered a mixed cocktail. From there the bartenders proceeded to work on other things. Even disappearing to the back of house more than once and producing two additional beverages, neither of which were for us. We waited 12 minutes before being acknowledged again...still without our drinks and no one asking if we wanted food at all. Finally after 15 minutes she looked at us (probably because we seemed irritated) and said "I will have your drinks in a little while". It had already been more than a little while and as a bartender myself, easily the most terrible service I've ever received. Meanwhile there was more staff waking around this place than there were customers and I couldn't figure out why she wasn't asking for help if she needed it. How is it possible for a tap beer to take more than 15 minutes to produce. At this point she disappeared again and we got up and left. I'm not sure if we will give this place another try because I can't imagine it would be much better if this person is still behind the bar. Super disappointing. read more

We had a reservation for seven and although the restaurant side was half empty we were seated in the loud bar section/room with our two children under the age of eleven. It was hard to hold a conversation in the bar, and to add insult to I jury our server lacked any personality. Ugh...our bill only came to $300 but we could not get out of there fast enough. We will not be returning to Dukes on 7 as there are far better options in Excelsior closer to our home. read more

It is not clearly advertised that their full menu is not available during brunch, and their brunch menu is extremely limited for lunch options. The patio and atmosphere was unique, and fun with the dog menu available. However, the service was incredibly slow. It was more than 10 minutes before our server even acknowledged that we were sitting there. Service was slow throughout the meal (our server didn't ask if we wanted drink refills until after we had already already finished our meal and asked for our check). After we asked for our check, it took more than 10 minutes for our sever to bring it, and another 10 minutes for her to run our card. read more

I recently tried this place for brunch with a friend. I got a classic breakfast with eggs, toast, hash, and avocado. I was pleased with the amount of avocado I received as well as the hash. However, the toast wasn't close to being toasted - which was really disappointing with the classic breakfast since the toast makes up a good portion of the plate. I did not try their brunch cocktails, but instead ordered a coffee with cream. The service we received from our waitress was great, especially with how many tables she was managing. Tip: They were busy during brunch on a Sunday, so I would recommend making a reservation. read more

Sorry Duke's. At my daughter in law's suggestion, this past year, I've had brunch twice and attended a wedding reception at Duke's. All three unremarkable. This past Sunday we had a reservation for 12. The corned beef on my Reuben sandwich $18 was tough and full of fat. Not even close to being edible. I even tried eating it with a knife and fork. Not. Chips were cold. Grandsons chicken strips $8 were awful. Turkey Club was lunch meat. I had a view of the kitchen door where wait staff was going in and out. The floor there looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Our bill was $250. Automatic 20% charged to check ($39.40) for large party and we tipped on top of that. My group of 3 had reservations at 8:15p. We showed up a little early and were told we would have to wait until 8:15p. Understandable and no big deal at all. 8:15p rolls around and we are sat at our table within a min or two of our reservation. After being seated at our table we weren't acknowledged by any member of staff until roughly 8:45p. 30 minutes without being even greeted by a server is not good. We were then approached by a server who said "Have you guys been helped?" When we told her no she said "Okay...I'll help you get some drinks. I don't think I'll be able to finish up with you guys but I can at least get you drinks." Appreciate her jumping in to get us drinks but where the heck is the server for our table then? Just to clarify though...I wouldn't say this was the servers fault. It seemed she noticed no one was helping us so she jumped in even if it wasn't her table to be helping with. We then waited another 15 mins for our drinks. At this point it was past 9pm before we were able to place an order for food. Almost an hour after our reservation. We were not confident that we would be able to get a second drink ordered before our check came seeing as how we had to wait over 50 minutes to place our food order so we decided to skip the second drink. I can't say I wouldn't return to try it at least once more, but if the service ends up being the same I definitely wouldn't return after that nor would I recommend the restaurant. read more

We went on a beautiful Friday night at 7pm so we expected a wait and for it to be busy. There are two host stands, one for inside and one for outdoor seating. We weren't picky and spots opened at the indoor bar. It was quick to get a drink, I got a slushee (highly recommended) and my partner got a beer. Once we ordered, we waited a bit for food. Got the brussel sprouts as an app, needed more of the honey sauce. Very dry but so much potential! I ordered the blue and fig burger, my partner ordered the sunfish sandwich and like other reviews on here, too dry! Overall the patio is wonderful, good people watching, TVs in the bar are great. Wouldn't complain about a lot except everything just needed more sauce. Next time I'm ordering the rotisserie chicken because it looked so good! read more

I loved this place! Cutest place to bring a dog. The indoor outdoor space is amazing. The people who work there are so nice and accommodating. I love the special treatment for my fur babies. The drinks were great too. I love having a place I can go with my dogs and hang out. No guilty conscience leaving them home. Socializing is where it is at.
