A gem in the heart of Jersey City. I'm afraid that I'll be cheating on my diet way more often with Dulce De Leche so close to my apartment! The bakery itself is spacious and nicely decorated, although one's attention is quickly drawn to the cases of delicious pastries! I tried the chocolate cake, flan, and a type of chocolate Napoleon, (I ordered a nutella churro as well, but they charged me and forgot to put it in my bag). Everything tasted fresh and delicious, with a special shoutout to the chocolate cake. It was the perfect blend of sweet, creamy, and fluffy. Everything else was quite good, but not overwhelmingly so. Stopped by on New Year's Day and indulged in their churros - chocolate dipped (with dulce de leche filling); dulce de leche filled; regular and Nutella filled with Nutella drizzle. They were tasty, but I bet even yummier if I had gotten there earlier in the morning when they were at their freshest. My favorite thing though is the Bacon, egg, and cheese on the croissant. The line is at the door, this implies the place has delicious food. Problem is the customer service is terrible. You wait in line while "friends," of the workers skip around and grab what they want. I went to the JC location and thought the interior was beautiful. It was bright and chic. The display of pastries and breads stood out nicely when you enter. My favorite pastry was the alfajores. It was just mouthwatering! I had a few other some pastries with a friend and they were good too. We ordered a chocolate cake and I thought it was good but I didn't love it. I found it a bit dry and the frosting was a little hard. The service was top notch and the girls helping us were patient and kind. I'd be back again and maybe try a different chocolate cake! I have been a customer of dulce de leche for almost 18 years. I remember when they had their small location on Bergenline before their lease ran out. That being said, I just went to the Union city location and since it was extremely hot outside that I had to walk in with my small dog in my arms. They immediately started to tell me to leave because I could not bring a dog on the premises in an extremely rude manner. I told them I just needed an ice coffee and before I told him I needed a glass of water, four of them stood in front of me demanding that I leave. I have never been treated this way at the bakery in WNY. This is a great way of treating a customer. My family will never step foot in this bakery again, at any location.. The most ironic part is that I traveled over 30 minutes for this. It's amazing after a pandemic, small businesses are treating their customers this way. I know the owners of dulce and you should be ashamed of the lack of respect your employees have for your customers. Remember, your customers keep you in business. read more

Had a slice of cake from this bakery yesterday at a family barbeque and was blown away. It was one of the top two cakes I've ever had in my life. The cake was beautifully decorated outside, soft, had fresh peaches and dulce de leche inside. If you're thinking of getting a cake from this place, I would 100% recommend! I've had salads, sandwiches, pastries (of course), fries, juices, coffee, and that still hardly puts a dent in the number of items they have to offer. You can pretty much close your eyes, spin in a circle, and point anywhere in the restaurant to make an order and you will end up with something yummy. 2) As a student, this is a great place to get some work done. Excellent wifi service, outlets available all along the walls, and comfortable seating. I also like the mellow music they play overhead. However, be aware that since it's a busy place, it can get a little loud sometimes. So if you're looking for quiet and low key, you might prefer the library just a couple blocks away. 3) Lots of seating, natural and artificial lighting, good atmosphere, and very nice staff. So glad I finally tried this place! First off, the space is beautiful. Definitely the kind of place you take friends and stay awhile. The staff was pleasant and the service was quick--no wait in line and a reasonable wait for food (granted I went at 8am but the whole time I was there people were in and out the entire time!). This is my favorite bakery in town! I highly recommend checking it out for breakfast or lunch, their main menu is served until 3pm. They often have lines because this bakery is so popular but there are many staff members quickly helping the line move along. Avocado Toast is a must-try. The multigrain toast is grilled crispy and topped with mashed avocado, sliced cherry tomatoes, sliced toasted almonds & I add an egg. So good! All of their pastries are great, my friend loves their dulce de leche filled but I'm obsessed with any of their guava and cheese pastries. If you order a sandwich they throw it on their panini press to heat it fresh for you, making it crispy and oozing with cheese. You can't go wrong here! It had a welcoming and friendly ambiance where you can bring family, friends, a date- essentially anyone for good food and conversations. They also have a large space with many tables, so there was always a place for people to sit. The only issues are finding parking around Central Avenue and having the servers clean tables quicker so other folks can sit down, but this establishment is worth it. They have a wide variety of pastries, sandwiches and other items that all look and smell delicious. We had the mini Cheese Croissants for the table and they were amazing, with flaky, buttery croissant with a fresh slice of cheese on the inside. But here they are ..located on Central Ave. All of us Heights people are loving the new additions! I came by on a Saturday afternoon and the place was super busy. I love how bright and spacious it is. There's plenty of seating and I even saw some people with their laptops out (coming back to work). I was overwhelmed with all the goodies that were on display but luckily, I had a very sweet staff member help me decide what to take home. I never felt rushed even though I saw the line getting longer but there are plenty of workers, who made sure the line kept moving. We ordered a cortadito and an Orange and Carrot juice and both were great, and then ordered a ChoriPan and Egg and Cheese on a croissant for breakfast, which were both also really good. We also ordered one cheese and one chicken empanada and they were okay, but the pastry's were outrageously good! We tried the puff pastry filled with Dulce de Leche, the croissant with Membrillo and Cheese, the Churro filled with Dulce de Leche, and the Mil Hoja (the tower of pastry and Dulce de Leche topped with Powdered Sugar) and they were all fresh and delicious.
