I had a very negative experience visiting this bakery last Sunday afternoon. After waiting on line for 10 mins I got to the front and politely asked if they had any items that were gluten free and the woman at the front yelled NO we have NOTHING gluten free, NOTHING egg free, NOTHING dairy free, NOTHING! I had only asked about gluten, none of the other items, and found her tone and demeanor to be really obnoxious and unnecessary. I asked about their chocolate mousse which is typically a pretty safe bet for gluten free, and I'm sure she could have quickly confirmed if that was true or not, but her response was to shrug her shoulders and say I don't know. Really terrible experience overall and will not return ever. read more

I LOVE this bakery. My favorite cake of all time is probably tres leches and theirs is perfect for me. Another one of my favorites from here is their chocolate cake with dulce de leche. It is perfection. Their other desserts are just as great but my favorites are definitely the tres leches and chocolate dulce de leche. This has definitely become my go-to place if I ever need to get a cake for any occasion. One of my absolutely favorite bakeries! My 2 go to purchases here are the ham & cheese sandwich and the house cake! Their house cake is one of the best cakes I've ever had! This is a big bakery with counter service and plenty of seating. It's a good looking place also, lots of natural wood, brick and subway tile gives it a modern feel, it's very clean, bright and open. The counter staff are nice and friendly and even though it can get busy service is always pretty quick as there are enough staff. The coffee here is great, the Cafe con Leche tastes just like it does in Spain but let's be honest you're here for the baked goods. There's a huge selection of mostly sweet but also some savory items such as quiches and empanadas. The croissant selection is huge and very good, the churros (get the chocolate dipped one that is stuffed with Dulce de Leche!) are the best I've ever tasted and the slices of cake here taste very good as they are not too sugary sweet. There's also a selection of hot sandwiches that I'm eager to try and they make celebration cakes. The prices are unbelievably cheap considering the quality of the goods. Recently went online and came across this bakery and decided to order a cake for my friend's birthday party. Nothing fancy- just one of the cakes they gave in the display but wanted writing on it. They have another location in West New York on Bergenline Avenue I believe. It is pretty roomy on the inside plenty of seating, prices are fair, and the pastries and cakes are delicious. Parking (Metered) is on street but could be a hassle finding a close spot on a Saturday. I have been here a couple of times mainly to try the Tres Leches Cake which was average but I have tried other cakes that were mind blowing. This Chocolate Cake is worth coming here alone as well as the Oreo cake. I have to try the breakfast sandwich one day which I also here is good. I visited here to get some pastries to bring to someones house and some for myself of course and loved it!! Especially the prices. I got 8-10 little specialty pastries in a container and 4 pastries for myself for the week and the total was $19 and some change. The freshness of the pastries were so flaky and crisp. Some were even warm from probably bring brought out right from the oven. The space is big and spacious with high ceiling. It is also clean which is always a plus at a place that sells food. I would definitely come back to try a breakfast sandwich and coffee one morning. I've been frequenting Dulce de Leche since the day it opened and for good reason! This is exactly what Central Avenue and The Heights needed- a really great bakery with excellent food in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You'll be hard pressed to find a time when the bakery isn't hopping, a true testament to the quality of their menu items. While their counter service is a little slow, it has vastly improved since they opened. Their food menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner items) isn't huge, but what they do offer is always really delicious. Their baked goods are always fresh and delicious. My favorite items include: Chicken Sausage/Egg/Cheese Sandwich, Ham & Cheese mini croissants, Ham & Cheese Quiche (comes with side salad in you dine-in), and just about every baked good. Their coffee is always fresh and delicious. I really love their Nitro Cold brew, but it seems like they can't figure out how to keep it stocked or working 100% of the time...more often than not, "we don't have Nitro today." I tried the bakery three times. Once was a custom order cake the students bought in for a teachers birthday. The cake was sadly quite stale. The second time was when I was in the area and decided to get a dulce de lèche mini pie for lunch which my friends who ordered hot sandwiches. We got our orders to go and left to go back to our gallery sitting session. The pie was very hard, and I couldn't even get my fork into it, which made my friends feel sorry for me and offered me part of their meals, well-I lost my appetite right after I trashed the pie away. The third time was when my best friend wanted to get a cake slice in the area, and shockingly, it was the only decent real qualifying bakery in Central. So we went and ordered two slices of cake. My carrot cake was overly sweet, super mushy that I couldn't differentiate cake icing from the cake's bread.
