This place is great! The food tastes amazing and the coffee is delicious. A real neighborhood coffee shop plus sit down brunch cafe. The atmosphere is welcoming and sweet. Great breakfast/lunch spot in the area! Had a few friends recommend Dulce de Leche and I was glad I was finally able to try it. My friend and I met there for lunch and he ordered the chicken chilaquiles with over easy eggs and I ordered the torta ahogada with pork carnitas. I was glad the torta had the sauce on the side for me to dip it so the bread wasn't soggy when I ate it. I would dip it in the sauce as I was eating it which was perfect. The sauce itself is not spicy however they give you pickled onion with habanero on the side which definitely adds the fire to the dish if you want it to be spicy. There is a great variety of drinks to choose from there as well... anything from a latte, matcha latte, hot chocolate or cafe de olla. I personally ordered the horchata latte with oat milk and it was great! It helped balance the heat from the torta since I did add the pickled habanero to it. I would definitely be back to try the crepes for breakfast and my horchata latte as well! read more

I had the worst experience here, me and my friend ordered a chicken breakfast skillet we get our food when I took the first bite I knew they gave me the wrong order... I don't eat pork so the taste of it immediately let me know that wasn't chicken they had served me a carnitas skillet when I told the waitress and she went back to the manager, the manager came back out and said I was mistaken and it was chicken.... Couldn't have been when me and my friend got the same dish and hers looked and tasted just like chicken mine was completely different texture and RED she argued that was just the way it was seasoned. We had a whole argument back and forth about it. I still paid for the food because its not about paying for the food it's about the quality or respect and service provided. read more

I live in Albany Park and when they opened this cute cafe I could not wait to try it! When in person dining was finally back in Chicago I took my sister and mom to give them a try. AMAZING! The service, the food, the atmosphere. We ordered up front and our food was brought to us in a timely manner. We ordered the mazapán crepe, the breakfast burrito, churro cheese cake, torta ahogada, Nutella strawberry crepe, and chilaquiles. Everything was fresh and tasted amazing. My sister tried the horchata latte and my mom and I tried the seasonal water, which was cucumber lemonade. In times where we should support our small businesses, this one is defined worth it! read more

I've walked by this cafe so many times, but never really went in and sat down there until today. I've ordered their lavender latte to go a few days ago and it was really good! I tried their seasonal rose latte iced and with oat milk today and I really liked it. The rose flavor wasn't too overpowering & added a nice hint of sweetness! The interior of the cafe is also really cute and it was a great place to sit down & have some alone time. Anyway, if you're looking for a nice cafe with good coffee in the Albany Park area, definitely check this place out! read more

This place is a cute little café in a cute little neighborhood. I got a vanilla latte and a breakfast platter. Everything was delicious but I will say that the interior could use a little bit more pizzazz. That may be a bit superficial to say though. There were a lot of families there having breakfast and lunch. I don't think that I would use this as a place to get work done per se because it is very busy and it seems as though a lot of people come not only for coffee and tea but to eat as well. Overall though I definitely would come back as everything that I had was delicious. read more

This place is decent, but they are rarely open on time. I've come here 4 separate times hoping to get coffee and they just aren't open. The internet says they open at 7 am. Then I saw they had changed the time to 8:00 am (sign on their doors) and now they took off the sign. So I came at 8 am today and they weren't open. It's the one of the few local spots to get a coffee and now I have to go to Starbucks! It's very disappointing. read more

In a city that has ample Mexican or Mexican-inspired culinary options, Dulce De Leche Cafe's fantastic flavors, diverse menu, and welcoming ambiance help it stand out among the crowd. The chilaquiles I ordered was among the best I've had - an incredible blend of fresh flavors. Although I was feeling full, I took a risk and ordered the Sabroso crepe afterward - wow, no regrets!! Ever since I've been working remotely since the onset of the pandemic, I've been checking out a variety of cafes to work from. I absolutely love working from here. The food and drinks are incredible! I haven't had a single thing I didn't like. The cafe is located a block west from the Kimball Brown Line stop, making it easy to get to. While I wish they had bike parking, I put in a request with the city to install a bike rack in front of their entrance. Fingers crossed. Their food and drinks really do look and taste as good as they seem online. The presentation of the sandwiches and drinks is always on point. Not to mention, they bake their bread and make everything from scratch! Also, I appreciate that they play Latin music as it's relatively uncommon for cafes in my experience. Hands down, enthusiastically recommend. Locally owned by a family who have a unwavering commitment to quality food, drinks, and service. So grateful they're in the neighborhood! read more

Went in with my 5 kids (2x teens and 3x littles) + the hubbs. Such a wonderful family owned restaurant. The owners are also those serving. Let me tell you, THEY TAKE PRIDE IN DISCUSSING THE FOOD. I love to see their heart for the many different varieties they speak about. Not to mention they have a demeanor that embodies the feels of "home" alongside genuine smiles and joy. So about the food! SO GOOD! These are the items my family and I enjoyed and ordered. We had an all out happy mouth tasting party here alongside some fun convos. (Dulce de Leche will supply you the food - the good convos are up to you ) - Chilaquiles Platter: My tribe has traveleddddd and these CHILAQUILES are as close to having them in the great nation of Mexico. Soooo good! (FYI: They are NOT spicy. You can ask for added spice ) - Bagel Lox: The dill cream cheese is super fresh and should be sold on its own it's so good! The salmon is prepared with a Japanese method that melts in your mouth. The salmon is extremely fresh and not mushy at all. MUST HAVE! - Breakfast Sandwich: So big. Which we cannot complain about. LOL. - Breakfast Burger: 3x of my kids had this and they thoroughly enjoyed the egg over a burger and it was so good! - Horchata Latte: UM WHAT!?! Whoever thought about this was a genius! I'm not Mexican but love a good horchata. Ummmmm they added coffee y'all! Who does that? Fresh and hit the spot. I could have had this for a dessert on its own. - Nutella Latte: on my part. But one of my kids, who is not into super sweet things ordered it. He thought it was okey. But if you are a chocolate or Nutella lover - you are going to really enjoy this. - Dulce de Leche Latte: Creamy and perfect. They served a huge cup of this and I had a hard time finishing it off as I literally tasted everyone's food plus ate my own. - Cucumber Lemonade: Okey y'all! This needs to be sold IN STORES! Staff is so kind and welcoming. The food speaks for itself, it is AMAZING. Our crepes (Dulce de Leche and Nutella with bananas) were so good, and the Cafe de Olla was phenomenal. It also doesn't hurt that the place is so cute inside and out. Love it! read more

This place is going down really quickly. The last time I ordered, my bagel wasn't toasted, the cashier took my payment and left my to go food sitting there while she made lates. I had to tell her that my food is sitting there in a bag before she got it. The bagel was sloppily made with cream cheese seeping out the sides and to boot my bagel was not cut in half like I requested. Too bad. I thought this place had it together. read more

I liked the iced horchata latte, though I think it could've tasted a bit more horchata-y. Maybe the hot version is better. I had the blueberry muffin and it was tasty but I think the baking was off because in mine the center was still a bit uncooked and all my blueberries fell to the bottom of the cupcake. It's a big cupcake though, so not bad for the price. Overall, it's a beautiful place and I'd be willing to go there again. read more

After 22m we had not had not been acknowledged beyond getting the menu from the front when walking in. No waters no hey I'll be right back to take your order. Horchata latte! Horchata latte!!! I moved to Albany park from Lakeview and I'm missing my horchata latte fix from cafe tola. When I found out dulce de leche has it, I HAD to try it! I got mine iced (as per usual) and with oat milk and it was great! Ryan got a dulce de leche latte and it was so good! We also got breakfast sandwiches, sausage on jalapeño cheddar and lox bagel on the same. I love that they make their own bagels, although the jalapeño cheddar didn't have much spice to it. The amount of lox and avocado is so much- definitely worth the price! Cant wait to come back for my horchata latte and more breakfast bagels!! read more

Got introduced to this place by a neighborhood group I'm in online on Facebook. I am so glad people recommended this place coz they make the best Dulce d'Leche coffee and Mazapan Crepes. They are located close to the Brown Line, and are open early for your morning run. The staff there are nice and very attentive. Gonna go back to try their lox and other items off their menu. I don't write many reviews. I had to write this one. Probably the best take out food I have had since ummmm 2019! Let's start with the beet salad. Beautiful fresh beets, sliced sweet grapefruit with goat cheese and pecans on a bed of arugula. Whaaat?? In Albany Park?? Yes sir! Then I had the lentil soup. Delicious. I might need the recipe. Last I had the bagel lox sandwich with jalapeño cheddar bagel, cured salmon, avocado and dill cream cheese. And a few more ingredients. The combination was amazing. So fresh. My BF had the breakfast sandwich. Which he loved. He said "oh babe, we are going back there" and he doesn't say that very often. Dulce de Leche was clean, friendly, quick, and just delicious. I was passing by few times next to the coffee shop and today I stopped in to grub vanilla latte. It took them a little bit longer then as usual probably around five minutes to make it, however the coffee was delicious and I liked the taste. The associates serving the coffee were very friendly polite and kind. It looked like they have been enjoying working in that place. They were wearing masks as I am very concerned about coronavirus situation and social distancing was provided. Plenty of space inside with limited parking in front of the coffee shop but probably this is to very busy street. Next time while I'm around I will definitely try something ales from this location. Over all very good first experience and I hope they will keep that way. I would recommend to try something you may like it. read more

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.
