I have an admission to make, this is first time I've tried soup dumplings. That said, I've been meaning to try them out for years but I hadn't found a good local place. This place has been open for about 3 months and resides in the "old" Togo's building across from the "Park and Shop" in Concord. It was pretty busy when I came but I was seated right away. You order via app via QR code and they bring the dish to your table. I ordered the pork soup dumplings and my prerequisite Siomai. The soup dumplings were ethereal. They were everything I had hoped for "soup dumpling" to be and then some. The pork and soup filling were addictively delicious accented with the perfect dipping sauce. Next time I'm going to try their beef dumplings which seems to be a popular dish. So don't wait as long as I did, try some soup dumplings at this place and expand your culinary horizons. read more

It's funny that half way of this meal, I realized ok, the owner must be from Sichuan. I was right and she's from Chengdu. Not only once I've been bragging to my coworker that how many soup dumpling restaurants are sprouting in Concord now, and this is one of them (I don't like the baobao 88). We've ordered: - Pork XLB and chicken XLB. The wrap of the XLB is too thick and probably they used too hot of the water on the dough. It's puffy with lots of bubbles. Plus, the wrap couldn't hold the soup due to either the wrap is well made or the amt of time to steam it is too long. Both are key skills of XLB. I had big hope on these but they are nowhere closes to Dumpling Hours (DH) in Walnut Creek. BTW, DH just opened one in Oakland a few weeks ago. Lucky me! - Smashed cucumber is interestingly seasoned with a lot of sugar, which comes out nicely done. Mental note to myself that sugar and cucumber work really well with each other. - Fried tofu. This is what brought me to think the owner is from Szechuan. The numbing flower pepper infused oil (with many other aromatic ingredients) tastes very close to the best Sichuan restaurant Spices 3 in Oakland (about 80% close). I had this and realized ah... this is more of a Sichuan restaurant. - Chao Mien - decent and the noodle tastes like they're made from dry noodles. In fact, I've never seen any places use dry noodle for chow mien but still, this tastes very close to one of the dry noodle brand I usually buy. Too much onion too. - Pan fried dumplings - very good so we ordered a second one. The crispy lace is great but too much oil is used to pan fried it. Also, they need to cut them into smaller pieces cuz even chopstick users like me can't take them apart without getting my hands oily. Overall, it's an increasing trend to include XLB in Sichuan restaurants nowadays (another one I just tried was the newly opened Szechuan Taste in Concord, they also have XLB and see my other review) but then the skill is not yet reaching the peak. I agree XLB is popular these days but maybe it's helpful to promote Sichuan cuisine more so people won't be too disappointed by the xlb. read more

We ordered my favorite hot and sour noodle soup, pork soup dumplings, eggplant and string beans, beef in chili oil, and brown sugar rice cakes for dessert. Everything was so good and delicious. There's so much seating and parking look easy. You see the Asian grandmas making the soup window thru a window in the kitchen so you know it's legit. So glad this place is walking distance from us. I end up coming here whenever I am in the area. Very casual place but the food is so good. My 70+ year old Chinese dad likes to come as a treat when he is in town. The pan fried soup buns are unmatched, my kids can eat a few orders of the soup dumplings, the beef rolls are great and we also love their soups - the sour and spicy soup, and the fish soup with pickled veggies is unique. read more

We have driven past this restaurant as we first noticed it a few weeks ago. May be hard to see and easily pass the place. It is fairly new and this was our First time trying Dumplings and Noodles for me and my coworker. We ordered the beef rolls, crab and pork dumpling soup, and the spicy rice noodle beef brisket soup. The spicy rice noodle soup was exceptional. I have not had a soup that was so good until today. The crab and pork dumplings was hot and the skin was soft and not too thick. The beef roll was very delicious as well. There were not many dining inside, and they have plenty of parking. Great and fast service and love their hot oil sauce on the tables. I went here with my dad and it was delicious! I'd recommend the dumplings and wontons over the soup though. I was not a fan of the soup but the wontons in chili oil were AMAZING! First time dinning in and we absolutely gonna come back again and again...!! The food is so yummy and flavors are authentic! Soup dumplings are juicy, cooked just right, piping hot, good flavor. The Sichuan sausage is spicy and flavorful, they melt in your mouth. The green beans were okay, not as flavorful as we wished for. Shuimai is fresh and piping hot, flavor was okay. What surprised us the most is the steamed chicken in chilli oil. It's SO GOOD!! It's little sweet, little spicy, little Mala, little salty. Its EVERYTHING! I highly recommend this place. They do have limited parking so make sure to plan ahead. The service is good, friendly and efficient. Food came out fast and in order even they were busy. Ambience wise...I am sure they will improve overtime and it's unfair to judge since they are newly opened. The light bulbs are all kind of different colors, some of them don't work. Considering this place just opened, it was a great experience! The staff was very friendly and attentive, the food was hot and fresh, and the place was very clean! The food was full of flavor and I appreciated how the food came out in waves so I was able to enjoy it and not feel rushed! The food was all presented very nicely as well. The food is wonderful and so so comforting. We tried shrimp and pork, spicy pork, beef, and crab and pork soup dumplings. They were all delicious and served one dish at a time to ensure they were warm and steamy when served. We also had the seafood fried rice that was heavenly. The rice was so fluffy with the shrimp, clams, and scallops so fresh and delicate. The service is very thoughtful and attentive. We never had to asks for refills of tea and water. Along with the timing of food service noted earlier, could not be better. The ambience is a little wanting. It's an old building architecture I do not associate with restaurant. Never been here before and don't often stop for food in Concord, but a friend was interested in trying soup dumplings while visiting us from the East Coast. Decided to come here based on star rating. It was amazing! It was slow when we came in but it was also 105 degrees out on 4th of July. Service was great, kept our drinks filled, answered any questions. The AC was broken today sadly, but due to that they brought a delicious plate of complimentary noodles to the table as an appetizer. We ordered spicy crispy chicken and spicy potato appetizers which were both awesome. We also ordered the crab and pork soup dumplings, spicy pork soup dumplings, and shrimp/chives/egg dumplings. We cleaned our plates/baskets as soon as they touched the table, so I don't have pictures to share. Super friendly restaurant with delicious food, 10/10 recommend to anyone. read more

Just stopped by to this small family operated Asian food restaurant. Ordered, Chinese flat bread, Shanghai dumpling, wonton soup, steamed pork buns, sesame balls, green beans with extra garlic!!! Came in on a Saturday and this place was packed. Luckily they had 1 table left so we were seated immediately as we arrived. We had multiple staff members helping us so we didn't necessary have 1 certain person helping which we didn't mind. But we were pretty upset that food came in such random waves that our potstickers didn't arrive until we were almost done with our food. We tried to wait for everything to come out but eventually just started eating to prevent from our food getting cold. We ordered 5 different items, the standout for me was the beef roll and spicy chicken, my kids enjoyed the pork buns but we were a little disappointed with the soup dumplings. The dumplings were sticking to each other so about half of them broke when trying pull them apart. As soon as that happened my husband was not a fan. So I wasn't able to take a picture with all the food because we were super hungry and we only have a 1hr. lunch - LOL, but I have to say that I really enjoyed this place. We ordered the fried rice and it has a really different taste, that you don't taste in other dim sum places and it honestly felt light eating it. The green beans were really good too as well as the pan fried pork dumplings. I will say that the pan fried dumplings here are a lot better than our regular dim sum that we go to in Brentwood and they have hot soy milk here which in my opinion was THEE BEST HOT SOY MILK I've had. I could honestly drink 3 more cups of those. My coworkers ordered the wontons in chili oil and she stated that she liked them a lot, as well as my other coworker ordering the spicy rice noodles with beef. She ate that dish up in seconds I couldn't believe how much heat she could take. I took a sip of her spicy rice noodle soup and I will say that Asian spice is one hell of a ride because it was a bomb spice that you couldn't stop eating. The high reviews are due to them offering a free dessert for a 5-star review. Just ate there. Here's my honest review Shrimp and Pork Soup Dumplings- they accidentally gave us the spicy pork ones but charged us for the higher priced item. Big portion of flavorless pork with very little soup to them. They tasted like straight chili oil. Not good. Hot and Sour Soup- no flavor other than chili oil. Returned to kitchen. They also served this last which was odd. Pork Potstickers- these are just odd. They are rolled wontons with meat inside. They had no real flavor, not enough meat, and were doughy. Siumai- these were supposed to be shrimp? There was one tiny shrimp meat piece on the top with obvious fish cakes on the inside. Very fishy tasting. People were leaving these on their plates for the wait staff to clear. Pork Buns- they were ok. I'd give these a 3/5 rating. They were a bit dry and needed more filling. Beef Roll- meat was over cooked. The cilantro was all stems. They were dry. Service- no one came to our table. We had to go look for utensils for the soup. We needed water because the food was so dry and the chili oil soup left a bad taste in our mouths. I had to track someone down. There were two women running around, but they only approached the same two tables. There was one gentleman bussing and serving the food. He was the one doing all the work. One woman snapped at him for not having tables cleared right away. It bothered me tremendously as he was their only person serving everyone. He didn't deserve that in front of customers. There was a line to checkout. The same two women seemed to be running around and not getting much done as had been my impression the whole time of them. I would try another spot. Looking for a new spot we found on a friends recommendation. We got the Chinese beef roll,boiling slice beef in spicy soup with tofu and the pork won ton in chili. Our favorite was the soup and the rolls. The soup broth had so much flavor,the beef was tender and had just enough soft tofu.
