Lots of yelpers went to this place to try their dumplings. During the grand opening they were offering buy 1 dozen of dumplings get the other dozen for free. What a deal. Well since the last person I knew who went was Craig T. He said the parking garage is a challenge because they're at the end of the bldg where honu sushi is at one end and the dumpling factory is next to Pai cafe at the other. Monday March 31, 2025 first time, coming here. We came to check out Honu's Kalbi and Sushi. But, they only have outside seating for their dining experience. They have a small parking lot. We ended up trying this Dumpling Factory as it was indoor seating. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered our food and shortly after it was done. The food was good. One of our boiled pork dumplings and pork bao was served cold by mistake. I actually ate a boiling dumpling that was lukewarm. We sent it back and got a new hot serving. The pork dumpling had a distinct fermented bean paste. However, it overpowered the flavor of this meat. The pork, chicken, and shrimp dumpling had the same taste. My favorites was the vegetarian egg dumpling and wood ear fungus salad. Sadly I had a tummy ache the next day due to the cold dumpling. Jiaozi (dumplings)!! This place has been on my list to try so when we were driving down Kapahulu and I saw their sign, I told my hubby STOP! Turn around! It's located in the small strip mall (Wong Leong plaza) on the mauka end of Kapahulu Ave. It shares the lot with other eateries like Pai cafe and Udon Gama Dashi so the lot is often full. You enter in from the Kapahulu Ave side. I would avoid bringing your big trucks and cars-it's a bit tight. We were able to snag a spot after a little bit of wait. Once inside the nice airy restaurant we were greeted by friendly staff who told us to validate your parking spot (free for 2 hour) via a QR code at the front desk area. Be sure you do it because I hear the parking company is quick to give out tickets. It's easy-just follow the instructions and you get a receipt via email. The inside was nice- liked the look of the interior and there was a small window where you could see the cook making the dumplings. It's not a huge place but it seemed open airy. Ordering is also by QR code as well as payment. We ordered one plate of shrimp/chicken/pork jiaozi -12 dumplings ($14) thinking it'll be enough to share. Nope-get an order per person. We also got the braised beef wrap ($12) which was described as meat and chives green onions and parsley wrapped in pancake-like wrap. Maybe jianbing (Chinese street wrap)?? We got that to try too. There is an option to have the dumplings pan fried for an upcharge but we like ours boiled. Loved the pork, shrimp chicken dumplings! The skin was not chewy or thick but just the right amount of texture and thickness to hold the stuffing in. I don't like dumplings where you pick one up and it falls apart. These were perfect. Filling had big pieces of shrimp and the meat was tasty. There was a bit of juice to keep it moist. The braised beef wrap was a bit of a disappointment- the outside wrap was thick and greasy and it was pretty small, not much beef. Maybe we were expecting the traditional jianbing with the crispy wrap full of veggies and meat. Even though the wrap was a no-go for us, the dumplings way made up for the wrap's shortcomings. The dumplings were really good and we will definitely be coming back to try more- and this time order more plates. We could easily have eaten a plate (if not more ) each. I was happy to see that the Dumpling Factory is now open! I wanted to try the veggie dumpling and the shrimp and chive. Each order contains 12 dumplings, 24 is too many for me to eat in one sitting or 2 sittings so I asked for the dumplings uncooked and packed to-go with the plan to cook some right-away for lunch and freeze the rest for later. Tina (the owner) gave me specific instructions on how to cook the dumplings fresh and frozen. I waited while the lady inside made my dumplings. The wrappers and fillings are also made in-house. Back at home, I followed Tina's cooking instructions, and the dumplings came out perfectly. The shrimp and chive dumpling was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and great texture. No dipping sauce needed. The veggie dumpling was full of fresh crunchy veggies and nicely seasoned. No dipping sauce needed. I'm so happy! I love having dumplings in the freezer ready to go for a quick meal or snack. I also took home a container of the wood ear mushroom salad. Finally, an entire restaurant dedicated to one of my favorite foods. Parking was pretty tight but we got a spot right in front of the restaurant. It's new, clean and shiny inside. We got cucumber salad, braised beef roll, wood ear salad, shrimp/egg/chive dumplings, pork/napa cabbage dumplings, spicy sour soup with dumplings, 2 orders of rice and braised pork. It came out to about $90 and our party of 3 was stuffed. The wood ear was refreshing and crunchy, I thought it was good with a little bit of vinegar. Cucumber salad was well seasoned and had some szechuan peppers in it. It was a little sweeter than i like but still good. The wrap was also very good, my gf was hoping the pancake part would be more like a flaky, crispy pancake though. The beef, veggies and sauces inside were perfectly balanced and had a great flavor imo, of the wrapper were a bit crispier it'd be amazing. Spicy sour soup with dumplings came out, I think the dumplings inside were the pork and napa ones. The broth is very light, imo a little bland, but the soy sauce and chili oil on the table saves it. Shrimp egg and chive dumplings we got boiled and they were actually one of my favorites. It sounds like an odd combo but it's very flavorful, the chives balance everything out. Good thing we went early. The drawback is the only offered canned coke and sprite for beverages. The pork/leek bao was just ok but for $8.99 for three small bao i thought it was overpriced. The dumplings were about $17 for an order (I ordered the shrimp and the pork) which comes to about $1.40 for each dumpling. They all tasted like there was a little vinegar in the filling. The homemade spicy sauce was not spicy and it was really vinegary ... not to mention that a couple of spoonfuls costs $1.00. I ended up concocting my own with some soy sauce and sriracha because I didn't like their sauce. All the food I ordered cost over $70 including tax and gratuity (for the Uber Eats delivery). $59 not including tax and delivery gratuity. Saw a YouTubers review this place. It looked so amazing that we went the next day. We decided to buy the raw version instead of boiled or pan fried dumplings since we had a way to go and figured we could steam and pan fry them at home. We ordered the chicken mushroom dumplings and the shrimp, pork, chicken chive dumplings that came in cute trays. My biggest surprise was the size of the dumplings. They seemed a lot smaller (like 1/2 the size) of what the YTers showed. The taste was quite different from what a mandoo or xiaolong bao taste like. The people working were very nice and gave us the soy sauce, vinegar and chili oil to take home which enhanced the flavor. While the dumplings did expand a bit after steaming, it was no where near the size of what we saw on YT. The other issue is the parking. It is very limited. No parking available when we got there. I dropped my sister off to pick up the food and spun around the block a couple of times to pick her up. I asked her if the place was crowded since the parking lot was full and she said no, there was only one table taken when she got there. Maybe I will try to eat in one day to see if the dumplings are different from the ones we got, but I'll have to go during off hours and hope we can find a parking spot. read more

I must say the challenge is parking. 5 businesses with 4 of them are restaurant in that center, 13 parking stall is just NOT enough. I went there 20 minutes before they open for lunch and I have to wait for parking already. I am afraid if I go at regular dinner or lunch hour, I will have no chance to find parking. We ordered one salad, two steam dumpling and one pan fried dumpling. Each order of dumpling has 12 pieces. The salad with a few pieces of beef is pretty spicy to my taste. The disappointment is the taste of the dumplings. They are not very tasty, I would say the favor is not strong. They do have people making the dumpling right inside the kitchen as they advertised (Made fresh daily) We do eat dumplings a lot because we are Chinese. Disclaimer: We didn't get to try the food, we just experienced terrible service. Untrained staff led to the insanity of the grand opening day situation. We waited over half an hour with people cutting in line. They said it was first come, first serve. Until my brother suggested a wait list, they were taking whoever stuffed their face in the best. It was a shameful day for Chinese culture. Speaking of stuffed, just the rowdiness of the dinnertime rush made the inside unbearable and uncomfortable to the point we just had to leave. We ordered some appetizers way too overpriced, brown sauce braised beef we order was under seasoned and order very small for 12.99 very overpriced. A order of braised Chinese beef shank is super cheap for a lot all over Chinatown. We also order 2 dumplings and 12 pieces each order. Filling in the dumpling is non existent.
