I came with my family, and we shared the following dishes: Sliced Beef with Scallions Roll in Pancakes, Chinese Hamburger w. Cilantro & Green Peppers, Potato Pancake, Mini Soup Steamed Dumplings with Pork, Slice Fish Szechuan Style (Large), Lamb with Mixed Vegetables in Clay Pot, and Sauteed Chicken Szechuan Style. I most enjoyed the soup dumplings, potato pancake, and scallion pancake. I am always a sucker for soup dumplings. The way they burst in your mouth is so addicting. I could have honestly eaten a whole order of them on my own. The potato pancake was sooo crispy and yummy. It had the right amount of flavor and had a sauce to pair with it, which was perfect. The potatoes were fried with perfection and the scallions present helped enhance the flavor. The sliced beef scallion pancake rolls were also pretty solid. While the outside was crispy, the inside was soft and chewy. The flavor of the beef was also not too overpowering, leaving you a sweet flavor in contrast to the salty pancake exterior. The Chinese Hamburger w. Cilantro & Green Peppers was by far the most disappointing out of the appetizers. The bun was rock solid and dry while lacking any kind of flavoring. The pork inside was too fatty and was not enough to make up for the disappointment of this dish. I have always enjoyed Slice Fish Szechuan Style so we opted for it in the large size. While there was a good amount of fish fillet, I was not too impressed with the flavoring of the broth. It felt a bit lackluster and was only enhanced by the large amount of chili peppers present in the dish. The lamb with mixed vegetables in clay pot also came out overly salty. The noodles, which I often love, were way too salty as it soaked up too much of the broth. Lastly, the Sauteed Chicken Szechuan Style did not taste like anything special. My sister meant to order the dry version, which made it unfortunate. This version did not have much meat and the vegetables felt overly raw and had not been cooked long enough. This dish also turned out salty so maybe the chef that day just felt like dousing the dishes with a copious amount of salt. We ordered rice to pair with the dishes, and it was the most disappointing rice I have had at an Asian restaurant. Overall, I would give this place a 3.5 (rounded up to 4) since I did enjoy most of their appetizers. read more

Easily one of the best experiences of my life so far. We started off with some nice tea. Then the food came out and I didn't know what hit me. Every bite was amazing I cant get over it. I routinely order the tofu/veggie dish at every Thai/Chinese restaurant I go to... but this is something else! The mushrooms/bok choy dish was insane as well. They have cancelled my order on two separate occasions without any reason except for, "We can't prepare it this way" or just cancelling. I ordered the mini soup steamed dumplings with pork and they were pretty tasty. The main issue was that because the dumplings were not in individual portions/the filling escaped nearly all of the dumplings, so it was more of an actual soup vs the hot soup dumplings themselves. :) I still enjoyed them, and the 4th star really goes to their service and attentiveness. Of all the dishes I ordered, I'd say my favorite was the twice cooked pork (not pictured since everyone immediately ate it as it arrived, but again highly recommended!) Their fried rice wasn't bad either but I'd recommend asking for their chili oil to eat with the rice. Their dumplings were pretty good but the skin was slightly too thick so there's a little room for improvement. We stopped in before a concert. It's bigger than it looks. The place busy with both take out orders and dine in people. Even though it looked packed we were seated right away. It looked like a hot spot with large and small groups. The menu is extensive with dumplings and variety of Chinese dishes. All the orders that were coming out looked really good. We stuck to appetizers and dumplings. The standouts were shrimp dumplings, scallion pancakes and wonton in chili sauce. The soup dumplings were really good too. I searched and looked at reviews for Chinese food restaurants near me and I decided to try this one... Why did I do that? What I got was house fried rice, sesame chicken, and spring rolls. All I ate were the spring rolls. The house fried rice was tasteless and the shrimp had nice black Lines in them. Not deveined at all! The ham also was awful. The sesame chicken was sweeter than a piece of pie or a slice of cake. It was sugary and contained mostly batter with little actual chicken. The sauce was thick as hell like I could pick it up with my fork while the food was hot. Just nasty! One additional thing I have to throw in was that I was told if I pay in cash there is a 7% discount. Why when other places are encouraging the use of a card ( you know because there is a pandemic) would a place tell people to bring cash to save money on the meal? The bean curd sheet was a different type from what I had expected and loved -- no fault of the restaurant, but now that I know the kind of bean curd sheet they use, I'd rather order a different dish next time. I'm a big fan of these emerging Chinese restaurants that aren't your stereotypical Chinese-American take outs serving General Tso's. Dumpling House has a large blue sign outside that you'd expect from a Japanese restaurant, but it definitely catches the eye. There's plenty of seating inside and it's usually pretty crowded, which is usually a good sign. Since they're called Dumpling House I was excited to try their dumplings, but was excited to find the other options. We came around lunch time, and their lunch menu is a pretty good discount, but we wanted to try some of their larger dishes. Starting off with the soup dumplings (they take about 10 minutes to prepare), the soup dumplings arrived in the conventional steamers. The soup dumplings had a nice thick outer wrapping, but we could tell that the inside was bursting with flavor (some of the dumplings literally had juice burst out). Inside, the filling was juicy and you could taste the sensational broth. Additionally, we ordered standard Sichuan dishes like Numbing Hot Fish Fillet, Sautéed String Beans, and Dry Spiced Chicken. All the dishes brought the numbing heat that I was looking for. Will drop by next time I'm in the Boston area and craving that spice. read more

I had high expectations since this restaurant was centrally located and was packed when we went. There had to have been over 60 patrons and we had to wait for seating for four on a weeknight. From the looks of things, I expected really good food. The wait was a little under half an hour for a table for four. For such a packed restaurant, I felt that they were sufficiently staffed and food came fairly quickly. I had no issue with service. Sadly, the food was only okay. The sliced beef tendon in chili oil was not cut thin enough and you tasted mostly oil, a not so good kind of oily taste though. Their northern style cold noodle was just not tasty and I have tried this at other restaurant. Sometime simpler is better. They used way too much sauce in this dish. The sliced fish Szechuan style was standard but oily. The one dish I would recommend is the fried lamb in cumin. You may find the lamb dish dry but it worked well this way in my opinion. Kind of like a lamb jerky almost. Right amount of spice and cumin. Their soup dumpling was disappointing, thick skin and not enough soup. Came here an hour before closing. The soup dumpling were delicious and would recommend to anyone that likes or want to try soup dumpling. The Shanghai style udon was really good as well. As for the beef sautéed, general gao and the Taiwanese style noodle they were good but not great felt like I could get those dishes were nothing super special. The prices are kind of high for this place but fast service as well as good portion size as well. Service was okay, nothing special. Excellent place for noodles and dumplings! Tastes authentic, good portion size for good price, nice setting for both big and small groups. I've been here a couple times and now that I live closer I'll definitely be here more often. Most recently I came with a group of 7 around 7pm on a Thursday night. We had to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. By the time we left there was a crowd waiting outside! Definitely use the waitlist feature if you come. Another time I came with a group of 15-ish people. We made a reservation for that time. There is a wide variety of dumplings, including vegetarian ones. Most can be made either steamed or fried. There are also many noodle and rice dishes. My favorite noodle dish is the Sautéed Udon Shanghai Style. Highly recommend the classics of Mini Soup Dumplings and Scallion Pancake! Despite being busy, the staff are super attentive. They noticed when my boyfriend dropped his chopsticks and gave him a new pair immediately. They also noticed when we ran out of sake and asked if we wanted another bottle. They refilled our tea when it was empty (in case you didn't know, leave the cap open to indicate that it needs refilling; this is universal to all authentic Chinese restaurants). All of this was done without us needing to get the attention of the staff ourselves! We also were able to get their attention easily when needed. Pro tip: you can get a discount if you pay in cash. Love, love, love Dumpling House Have been ordering from here since 2016 every time I have a szechuan dried crispy spicy chicken craving (which is often). In all these years, Dumpling House has never failed to deliver. Consistent, priced fairly, and incredible service (both takeout and in-person). Besides their szechuan dried spicy chicken, other winners include: soup dumplings, scrambled eggs & beef with tomato sauce, singapore noodles, house special fried rice, and crystal shrimp dumplings. I've tried some of their other dishes as well, and all were pretty good, but these are my favorites. You just can't go wrong with Dumpling House. read more
