Ordered delivery with Uber Eats (great service). I ordered chicken fried rice, it was good, not dried out like some fried rices are. Moderate amount of chicken, only complaint was there was a lot of lettuce (which I don't care for, so I just picked it out) pretty tasty. I also had the fried pork dumplings with leeks, they were good also. Last I wanted to give the soup dumplings a try. I have not been a fan in the past. I ordered the "mini" soup dumplings- not sure what was mini. They were regular size and had 7 in the order! They were good, not a lot of extra dough and the filling was perfectly prepared. If I am the area again, I will definitely try this again.!

Very good dumplings! The portion sizes are large, so going with a group makes sense...you can order a variety and share. For example, when you go to dim sum, you get 3-4 har gao (crystal wrapper shrimp dumplings) per order. An order at Dumplings House is 10 dumplings. My party was only 3 people, and we ordered 7 items, and had a lot of leftovers. Thank goodness these all reheat well. There is a good selection of dumplings, plus many traditional Chinese specialties, plus the classics like Singapore noodles and a variety of fried rice options. The best 3 items we tried were the red bean steamed buns, the soup dumplings, and the crystal shrimp dumplings. Service was great. Prices are reasonable. Ambiance is comfortable, a few different smaller rooms make it feel cozy. Will go back next time I must have dumplings.

Today was our first time trying Dumpling House, in Cambridge! We arrived at the perfect time, right before the dinner rush. It was pretty busy for a Monday and the restaurant filled up quick. We knew we definitely wanted to try their pork + crab soup dumplings and their Szechuan style sliced fish, but we were struggling with figuring out what else we wanted to try. We ended up going w/ our server's suggestion for our 3rd dish: spicy salt & pepper pork! All the dishes we ordered were solid, to our surprise. Not the best Chinese food around but not a bad choice at all, by any means. Our favorite dish was the C1:Szechuan style sliced fish! It had the best flavor & great to eat w/ some rice. In terms of spice level, I'd give it a 6/10. Won't make you start sweating but you'll definitely feel a slight kick. We really enjoyed the spicy salt + pepper pork, as well. I liked the way it was fried & had a nice crunch! Wish it was a little saltier and more flavorful though. As for the soup dumplings, they were a little different from others that we've tried around. The dumpling skin is quite thick & filling had onions. I would give these a 5/10... kind of disappointing since we expected the soup dumplings were gonna be the star of our meal, given the fact that the restaurant has "dumpling" in their name. We decided to order some hot tea after we finished eating & it was a perfect way to end our meal ;) They have A LOT of dishes on their menu but I think some dishes are definitely better than others & you have to choose carefully because depending on what you order, it can really alter your opinion on how good their food is. Overall, I give our dinner experience at Dumpling House a 4/5. The staff were nice, efficient, & attentive! Parking: street meter parking

Love their dumplings! Always good! I recommend joining the waitlist online. They get very busy!

Beef and broccoli served piping hot from the kitchen. Well worth the short wait from an extremely attentive staff

Fantastic news! I finally found a great restaurant. Simply the best meal I have had in a long time. Lots of "hot & spicy" dishes that I was afraid to try, but my favorite dish of chicken and broccoli was amazing. Came out piping hot. Absolutely a must try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Came here for a quick lunch on a weekday and we especially enjoyed the soup dumplings and Chinese broccoli. The dumpling skin was not too thick, the soup was flavorful and the meat was a good texture / not a dense meat wad. Chinese broccoli had nice garlicky flavor to offset the bitterness. We lucked out finding parking and getting seated quickly. Service was fine but sparse. The menu is huge and I'll be back to try more things - three cup chicken next time.

This is one of my cousin's favorite places to dine in the area so we had to go for dinner. Dumpling House is a popular spot in Cambridge and they don't take reservations, so expect a wait during peak hours. We waited about 20 minutes for a table for six, which wasn't bad. There's a small indoor lobby with benches, so you can stay warm while waiting. The restaurant is busy and lively, with lots of large groups, making it a great choice for group dinners. We ordered a variety of dishes and really enjoyed our meal: A17 - Beef Pancake: One of my favorites of the night. The scallion pancake was super crispy, just how I like it, and wrapped around flavorful beef. A29 - Pan-Fried Dumplings: Tasty, with a nice crisp, but not the standout of the meal. A30 - Soup Dumplings: Juicy, hot, and flavorful. The soup broth inside was especially delicious. G18 - Mapo Tofu: A bit too watery for my taste. Isn't made with peanuts (for those with allergies) G2 - Sautéed Watercress: Fresh and lightly seasoned, a good veggie side, because you have to order one. F11 - Mango Chicken: We picked this as an alternative to orange chicken. Also I've never heard of mango chicken so this intrigued me. The chicken is not battered, but sliced and coated with a glossy sauce. It was very flavorful, and much lighter and fresher than typical Chinese chicken dishes. B17 - House Special Fried Rice: Great. It wasn't too oily and came with shrimp, pork, and lots of cabbage! C1 - Sliced Fish Szechuan Style (Large): Recommended by our server for a fish dish. Bold and spicy flavors and more than enough for our group. The portions were large, and the food overall was delicious. They also offer takeout, which was also busy. Parking is limited, with only five spots out front.

Service could have been improved, but was a busy Saturday late lunchtime. Once order was placed .. kitchen was fast ... too fast as main entree arrived before appetizer. Ordered the pan fried dumplings which had pork, shrimp . These were excellent and honestly some of best dumplings I have eaten. Pan seared, but tender noodle exterior. Large and 7 in the appetizer dish, the meat ingredients was great, well seasoned with flavors. These were not ever frozen or sitting for days ... fresh. The dipping sauce was not a run of mill soy, teriyaki sauce... it was well seasoned and really added to the dumplings taste... I would order these again in heartbeat. The pan fried noodles with beef dish again fresh ingredients, tender Vegatables of broccoli, carrots , beans. The beef was tender and the sauce with a the beef and noodles had a light but addictive taste that had you wanting more... I was trying to figure out what was in the sauce . The dumplings were memorable and will return again for the dumplings or scallion pancake and try a duck dish.... They serve beer, wine, cocktails as well .

Decent soup dumplings for a reasonable price! The soup dumplings were filled with soup and burst in your mouth, so delicious. The jellyfish salad was also very yummy, much better than I expected. Cold and refreshing! The texture of the jellyfish was so interesting to eat.

I'll spare you most of the gory details of this punishment, which was meant to deter future traitors with its brutality, apart from the section in which the offender's entrails are burned before his eyes. Having eaten practically nothing all day, and after being turned away from Sanbada for an early closure, my date and I decided to try Mountain House, which she described as "authentic." Several mistakes were made. Principally, because my date is from Hunan, her definition of authenticity is not the kind of "spicy" Szechuan food I've come to love at restaurants like Noah's Kitchen. Instead, it compares to a 1599 incident in which the Jivaro people of modern-day Ecuador executed a corrupt Spanish governor by pouring molten gold down his throat. Starved, I ordered the La-Zi Chicken and shoveled two spoonfuls of it into my mouth, failing to note in the haze of hunger that the despite its name, the dish is at least 80% dried red chili peppers that have evidently been coated with military-grade pepper spray and subjected to a Satanic ritual to add to their flavor. Survivors of gunshot injuries on the battlefield report that because of the flood of intense adrenaline and psychological focus inherent to combat, they often don't feel a bullet wound at all until after the firefight is over. Indeed, for a few blissful seconds, my body communicated nothing but "ahh, food, finally," before lapsing into psychosomatic reenactments of various medieval punishments throughout the ages. As the intense stomach pains, sweating, and tears set in, I looked up to see the waiter, my torturer, standing beside the table. "You look like you're going through it," he grinned, rotating, I am sure, the handles of a rack just out of view. "This isn't even the spiciest thing on the menu, you know." The agony was hardly sufficient to smother my mental image of his same grin glimmering before the red light of dancing flames amid hot coals being shoveled down my throat. Reader, I survived, but just barely. Luckily, the same date who betrayed me to this fate is also a doctor who set two full bottles of Pepto-Bismol next to the couch where she instructed me to lay on my left side in the fetal position. Currently, my toilet is on a leave of absence while it is being treated for PTSD on an in-patient basis; I try to send it sympathy cards, but I don't think it will ever forgive me. Mountain House is not so much a restaurant as it is an experience of these historical events: it demands, like the best high school social studies teachers, that we do not shy away from history's horrors, but face them directly, so that in our humanity we choose definitively not to repeat them. I left these trials with a new appreciation for the suffering that people throughout history have been willing to subject one another to for political or social reasons, and thus recommend it with five stars for anyone who wishes to better understand the depths of human depravity.

Everything came out flavorful, spicy, and packed with that numbing Sichuan peppercorn kick. The spicy chicken was probably my favorite crispy, well seasoned, and loaded with dried chilies. The boiled beef had a rich, spicy broth and was great with rice. The beef and tripe appetizer was also really good and had a nice balance of chili oil, sesame, peanuts, and that signature mala flavor. Portions were generous and the food definitely delivered if you're looking for authentic, bold Sichuan flavors. Overall, a very good meal and somewhere I'd come back to.

In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.
