Pretty dang good pork xiao long bao (soup dumplings). The dumpling skin is pretty thin (just the way I like it) and envelops a rich, savory soup inside. I would highly recommend it. Then we ordered sauteed chinese broccoli in garlic sauce, which was so delicious. The chinese broccoli retained the crunchiness while still soaking in the delicious garlic sauce. And this complemented the sichuan-style fish really well. The fish is soaked in hot chilli oil-based broth with the nice texture of napa cabbage. Pretty spicy and salty, I should warn you, but so delicious. The service is quite fast and efficient. The prices are very reasonable. I recommend this place for your chinese food fix! read more

We came here for a quick snack because I love dumplings! We didn't really have to wait for a seat because we came around 3pm. The service was quick and people were nice. The soup dumplings were OK. The meat inside was a bit hard and the soup was a little too salty and dark. Other soup dumplings I've had in the past were lighter in color and more flavorful. This one tasted like soy sauce soup in a way. The pork and chives dumplings were good. The skin wasn't super thick which was good and the meat inside was OK. Solid chinese food! This place can get really packed, so plan accordingly. I've passed by it several times when there are a bunch of people waiting outside, but we were lucky enough to not have a wait when we went on a Monday night. The tables can also get squished together, so prepare to be friendly with the neighbors! Highlights of our meal -Soup dumplings: plump and juicy, just the way I like them! The soup and meat were a little darker than normal though.. my brother said it varies, sometimes lighter. Maybe there was extra soy sauce this time -Beef noodle soup: I liked this one better than Taiwan Cafe's, only because I'm not a fan of their's, but overall it was ok. Rather than chunks of beef, it was more like thick slices. Cute little Chinese place. Had the chicken and brocolli lunch special. The soup is this seaweed tofu soup. Not my thing, but it was nice to try. I came in this restaurant last night after reading good reviews but i was wrong. The table next to me they had a birthday party and omg, they were noisy and disturb all the guests nearby. they screamed and hit the table every 5 minutes that no one in the restaurant reminded. it could be because 4 of them are employees there (they wear shirts with restaurant names). We got soup soup dumplings and the bok choy in garlic sauce. Soup dumplings were really good with perfect amount of chewyness and perfect thickness without being too bread-y. The soup inside was very savory and brothy without having that unpleasant meat taste. Bok choy in garlic sauce was very garlicy. Honestly, this dish is good no matter what restaurant you get this from. However, the garlic was sliced into bigger pieces so that made it bit more special. The servers are so sweet and welcoming, and I'm still astonished that no one even smirked at me when I (amateurly) attempted to eat soup dumplings with chopsticks. It was a rainy, unseasonably chilly May evening, and I was craving something warm, something home-y. And Dumpling House gave me that and more. I was originally skeptical about the crab and pork soup dumplings, because I thought the two meats wouldn't marry, but oh boy, they sure did. Honestly some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. Everything tasted so fresh: the juicy pork soup dumplings, super crispy scallion pancakes, and the General Gau's tofu, which is often soft and sad from most other places but was crispy and flavorful here, just like the chicken version! :P Plus the sauce was sticky and thick, not thin or runny. The food wasn't greasy at all, either. Normally Chinese takeout isn't great for my stomach, but here my tummy was very happy :) Give this place a try! (One more thing -- I wish there were more vegetarian options for the soup dumplings! I try not to eat too much meat, but the veggie ones on the menu just didn't grab my attention. Solid Chinese restaurant. Soup dumplings have been hot and soupy every time I've been. Some of the other dishes, like eggplant with pork are on the oily side, but the white rice soaks all that up. The few dishes that were ok was the Northern style cold noodles with peanut and sesame, which I thought was going to be like Sichuan cold noodles, but was more like liang pi (spicy and a little vinegar with sliced vegetables), but with clear wide noodles... good, but wished the noodles were firmer. Came here with a group of 6 for dinner at 6:30 PM on a Monday and we were fortunately seated immediately but we were the last table to be filled. This place is bigger than the Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown which always has a long wait so come here if you don't want as long of a wait. I won't pretend to be an expert on Chinese food but this is what seems to be a quintessential Chinese food joint with greasy food, neverending menus, fried dumplings, and average service. There are waiters running around you at all times. We ordered various things including soup dumplings, pan-fried noodles with beef, pan-fried buns with pork, sauteed veggies, a whole fish, and salt and pepper pork. Serving sizes here are pretty good so you can get by on about 1-2 dishes per person, depending on what dishes you order. All of it is good, not great. Apparently I can't be away from Chinese food for a mere 5 days of my business trip... everyone told me to stick to seafood and Italian in Boston, but I couldn't help it! Dumpling House indulged my comfort food craving and fed me a perfectly acceptable sliced Sichuan fish in chili oil, and a weird, kind of mozzarella-stick-like salt and pepper tofu dish (the breading would have been at home in an Italian restaurant, but the tofu itself was custardy and wonderful). Both dishes had the same crumbled dry salt/pepper/chopped chili mixture on the top, which was okay because it was tasty, but I could have used a little more different oomph (or whatever the numbing pepper version of 'oomph' is) in the fish. I did appreciate how crisp the cabbage and bean sprouts in the fish dish were - too often restaurants will serve them soggy from having had them chilling out in the oil for too long. read more

The service has always been good every time I've been. When they're busy and you're in a small party, you get the option of sharing a larger table with other small parties to be seated faster. I usually come here with my wushu friends, but one time I came with a guy on a date and he liked the food enough to selfishly take and eat all the food without asking me and then ask me to pay for half. I live literally across the street, so I'm here a couple times a week. Because there are so many tables, there is never a wait, and the English and Mandarin speaking staff is pretty friendly. The dumplings however are thick skinned and overall not very good. I've had several types of their dumplings, and this applies to all of them. Gourmet Dumpling House in Chinatown is MUCH better.
