Beef and broccoli served piping hot from the kitchen. Well worth the short wait from an extremely attentive staff
Larry V.

Fantastic news! I finally found a great restaurant. Simply the best meal I have had in a long time. Lots of "hot & spicy" dishes that I was afraid to try, but my favorite dish of chicken and broccoli was amazing. Came out piping hot. Absolutely a must try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Today was our first time trying Dumpling House, in Cambridge! We arrived at the perfect time, right before the dinner rush. It was pretty busy for a Monday and the restaurant filled up quick. We knew we definitely wanted to try their pork + crab soup dumplings and their Szechuan style sliced fish, but we were struggling with figuring out what else we wanted to try. We ended up going w/ our server's suggestion for our 3rd dish: spicy salt & pepper pork! All the dishes we ordered were solid, to our surprise. Not the best Chinese food around but not a bad choice at all, by any means. Our favorite dish was the C1:Szechuan style sliced fish! It had the best flavor & great to eat w/ some rice. In terms of spice level, I'd give it a 6/10. Won't make you start sweating but you'll definitely feel a slight kick. We really enjoyed the spicy salt + pepper pork, as well. I liked the way it was fried & had a nice crunch! Wish it was a little saltier and more flavorful though. As for the soup dumplings, they were a little different from others that we've tried around. The dumpling skin is quite thick & filling had onions. I would give these a 5/10... kind of disappointing since we expected the soup dumplings were gonna be the star of our meal, given the fact that the restaurant has "dumpling" in their name. We decided to order some hot tea after we finished eating & it was a perfect way to end our meal ;) They have A LOT of dishes on their menu but I think some dishes are definitely better than others & you have to choose carefully because depending on what you order, it can really alter your opinion on how good their food is. Overall, I give our dinner experience at Dumpling House a 4/5. The staff were nice, efficient, & attentive! Parking: street meter parking

Love their dumplings! Always good! I recommend joining the waitlist online. They get very busy!

Came here for a quick lunch on a weekday and we especially enjoyed the soup dumplings and Chinese broccoli. The dumpling skin was not too thick, the soup was flavorful and the meat was a good texture / not a dense meat wad. Chinese broccoli had nice garlicky flavor to offset the bitterness. We lucked out finding parking and getting seated quickly. Service was fine but sparse. The menu is huge and I'll be back to try more things - three cup chicken next time.

This is one of my cousin's favorite places to dine in the area so we had to go for dinner. Dumpling House is a popular spot in Cambridge and they don't take reservations, so expect a wait during peak hours. We waited about 20 minutes for a table for six, which wasn't bad. There's a small indoor lobby with benches, so you can stay warm while waiting. The restaurant is busy and lively, with lots of large groups, making it a great choice for group dinners. We ordered a variety of dishes and really enjoyed our meal: A17 - Beef Pancake: One of my favorites of the night. The scallion pancake was super crispy, just how I like it, and wrapped around flavorful beef. A29 - Pan-Fried Dumplings: Tasty, with a nice crisp, but not the standout of the meal. A30 - Soup Dumplings: Juicy, hot, and flavorful. The soup broth inside was especially delicious. G18 - Mapo Tofu: A bit too watery for my taste. Isn't made with peanuts (for those with allergies) G2 - Sautéed Watercress: Fresh and lightly seasoned, a good veggie side, because you have to order one. F11 - Mango Chicken: We picked this as an alternative to orange chicken. Also I've never heard of mango chicken so this intrigued me. The chicken is not battered, but sliced and coated with a glossy sauce. It was very flavorful, and much lighter and fresher than typical Chinese chicken dishes. B17 - House Special Fried Rice: Great. It wasn't too oily and came with shrimp, pork, and lots of cabbage! C1 - Sliced Fish Szechuan Style (Large): Recommended by our server for a fish dish. Bold and spicy flavors and more than enough for our group. The portions were large, and the food overall was delicious. They also offer takeout, which was also busy. Parking is limited, with only five spots out front.

Decent soup dumplings for a reasonable price! The soup dumplings were filled with soup and burst in your mouth, so delicious. The jellyfish salad was also very yummy, much better than I expected. Cold and refreshing! The texture of the jellyfish was so interesting to eat.

This is one of my favorite Chinese places since coming here. You can't make a reservation for this place but there was only a 20 mins wait on a Saturday night. For appetizers, we got the vegetable buns with mushrooms. It was very light and fluffy. It had a great filling pairing perfectly with the soy and chili oil. For dinner, i got the Taiwan noodles with chicken. It was very juicy and flavorful. Every bite had a burst of flavor. The ambiance was great and fun! The service was okay. We did get the wrong order and took a bit to fix. They also did put the dish at the table and went away without saying what the dish was. I understand that they were busy but other than that it was amazing. Would love to come back again

Love dumpling house! We always get the mapo tofu and it never disappoints. Often get takeout and the quality is just as good but they have a good lunch special if you go in house that includes entree, rice, & soup (though the soup is vegetarian not vegan unfortunately). Service was great when we went for lunch. Wish they had vegan dumplings, the vegetarian dumplings have eggs, but they do have mushroom buns which was good but a little plain, could use a sauce. Not sure exactly the difference between the sautéed flat noodles and the sautéed rice noodles but both are good! Have also tried the vegetarian three treasures (potato, eggplant, bell pepper), sautéed pea pod shoots, basil eggplant, and sautéed mixed vegetables with garlic which are all delicious. But the mapo tofu is our favorite.

Highly recommend trying this place out! The food is delicious with great prices. I really enjoyed everything I ate and recommend ordering multiple dishes to share. The jumbo shrimp and shrimp dumplings are must-try! The service is fast, though this place does get very busy quickly. Super homey restaurant with authentic food!

Pretty good for the price! I got delivery from here, and it honestly lasted me for 5 meals total. I really loved the green beans, they had a surprisingly smoky flavor. The salt n pepper fish was good. I love the spicy crunchy pepper mix on top. The fish itself was fine, could've had more flavor on its own. I also personally liked the fried rice, but I could see other people thinking it was too sticky/soft. But I weirdly really like that. I'd definitely order from here again

Soup dumplings for the win! I prefer ordering take-out, but if you can get a large group there, it's fun going family style.

Just amazing. Some dishes were a bit spicy but they adjust dishes easily. Best Chinese food in Boston/Cambridge, without question.

From the very attentive and supportive staff to the intricate details that they have throughout the restaurant , it is truly transformative experience. As for the food, if you're in the mood of something spicy, especially that Sichuan type of heat, then the beef soup is the one for you! I personally would recommend the green pepper pork because it was absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating it and it was just perfect in every which way! Looking forward to coming here again to try many other delicious foods and will probably bring a couple of more friends because their group seating is absolutely stunning!

5 for food 2 for service…read more We love the NYC version of this restaurant, and were excited to visit the Boston spot for mouth numbing dishes. Starting with an iPad menu, our ordering experience with our waiter was subpar. We ended up with extra things ordered that weren't part of our initial order. In good news the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fire and the waiter poured 5 glasses of water for 3 of us. So we could cool down without needing to flag him down. With the only non-Asian waiter in the restaurant, he struggled with basic elements of service. Inattentive. Requests went unmet (lemons for water). We sat for more than 15 mins after asking to box up leftovers and to close our check. This was all a little embarrassing, as we brought my boyfriend's father. After singing praises of the NYC spot, this was a disappointment.

When we went inside, there was only one other party there and no music, so just whispers and the sounds of utensils against plates. There are about 4-5 booths and 1-2 regular tables to choose from. Since l am not familiar with Sichuan cuisine, I had Al help me choose my dishes. I went with the dumplings in chili sauce, fried rice, eggplant in garlic sauce, and chongquin chicken. While we waited, we were given water. The dishes came out at different times. They first served us the dumplings which were really good. The sauce they were in did have some chili sauce, but it was mostly like a sweet soy sauce and really tasty. It came with about 6 dumplings with a perfectly cooked wrapper and filled with flavorful pork - simple but delicious. Next was the eggplant. I was expecting a heavy garlic presence, but it was more like a sweet and sour sauce. The eggplant was very tender, but really hot so we had to wait to let it cool down a bit. The rice came after. I honestly think this was one of my favorite dishes since it was perfectly cooked, great flavor, and good portion. Lastly, the chicken came out. There was a large pile of chicken, but half of it was peppers. The chicken was cut into little bite sized pieces, each fried perfectly. Some pieces were more tongue numbing than others but it was nothing aggressive; very gentle and comfortable numb. I would have liked if there were music, but the no music was fine too; an escape from chaotic reality. Our total was around $50, which wasn't bad for the amount of food we got. I would come back to try other items.
