My review is from their Riverside location by Crescent Park. They took over a "shack" from another business and I was so happy to see them there. The place is run by young adults when it is open, which is during the Summer and into the fall a little. The location is awesome, beach and park nearby and on Saturday afternoons a vintage car rally pulls in during the afternoon. Only seating is outside and they have plenty places to park yourself and pull up a fantastic meal. The picnic area has quirky chairs made from lobster pots as well as traditional wood tables. Each one has their own condiments and napkins. The staff is friendly and attentive, interested in the customer and efficient. The food was amazing as it always is. My go to are the fries, insanely big well seasoned cooked in tallow and seasoned with Old Bay. I can't stop eating them! I also got a Dune Dog with the works, quite tasty. My table mates got the fish sandwich, again a giant serving of fish and coleslaw, big enough to share if you are a light eater. I can't wait to go again. read more

Let's start off with the pros. Dune Brothers for sure has some quality fish. I had the fish n chips (skate fish style) and they cooked it to perfection.. not only was it the size of my head it was so juicy, the fish was literally falling off. Now comes the cons. Although the fish was cooked to perfection, it lacked in flavor. The fish wasn't seasoned, batter, or the French fries. Everything was flavorless. Service: I do gotta say the staff was super friendly I didn't know the difference between pollock fish, skate fish, or blue fish and they were so kind enough to go over them all. It was a difficult choice but I had them give me their recommendation and picked the skate fish and it was a great choice. There is a loonggg wait expect to be there for a while.. My wait time was about 40 mins. Ambiance: OK SO, Yes they have a sitting area but 9 out of 10 the tables are taken and with the lack of seasoning you're going to want a table to add all the salt, hot sauce, and vinegar they have available. If you don't get lucky with a table maybe a pro tip Bring a blanket. I saw people eating on the grass so If I do come back I'll make sure to bring one in case there's no sitting. This location also lacks parking, it's honestly a little inconvenient how the parking is set up I guess that's expected in downtown Providence.. I do want to end on a good note and mention they have live entertainment and to know you are supporting a local business always rewarding. My wife scouted this place out - she wanted to try their Lobster Roll. Seating - All outdoors. If it's raining, look hard to find a dry picnic table. You walk in, look at the menu, and order and pay. My wife ordered their lobster roll and water, I had their Poke with a Narragansett Lager (served in 16 ounce cans). Service was prompt at the counter, and there was around a 7 minute wait for our name to be called to pick up the food from the counter. My wife enjoyed her Lobster Roll - it was very good and the fries that came with it were terrific! I had their Poke Bowl, and after having poke in Hawaii, I felt this was someone's interpretation of what Poke was. The rice was served in a ball, the veggies in a ball, and the poke was also in a mound. This doesn't match Hawaiian poke, but it still tasted good, and was a healthy serving. We enjoyed it. This was our first time here. We ordered to go for lunch. The line was long so it took a while to get our food. Once we got it tho, it was very good. The lobster roll was full of lobster. Oh my gosh. I need to come back to Providence just so I can come back here! Dune Brothers is a stationary food truck, with picnic tables and a grassy green space to await the deliciousness coming to you. My friend and I walked here from the Rhode Island Convention Center-it was a very straightforward 15 min walk. We ordered Lobster Rolls and a "small" order of Clam Cakes (which comes with 3). If you are wondering why small is in quotations, it's because the Clam Cakes are huge! Baseball sized at least. Also, delicious and I could see the clams with my own eyes! The Lobster Rolls were magnificent. Warm, buttery, with huge pieces of lobster. It does take a bit to get your food since it is all freshly made, but definitely worth it. An outside shack that serves some pretty tasty fried seafood. Clam cakes were great! Not quite a crab cake and not quite a hush puppy. Crunchy outside, with a moist, cornmeal inside. Clam chowder was pretty good! I could personally have had it a little thicker, but that was forgivable. They load this up with fresh potatoes and celery, as well as chunks of mussels and clams. The fish sandwich was good, but this got messy and the bottom bun got soggy fairly quickly. Since the fish sandwich is a much smaller portion of the fish and chips, it was a good representation of what their fish and chips would taste like. Super tasty but MESSY food! My partner and I are always on the hunt for good lobster rolls and were surprised to find a place like Dune Brothers in Providence. This little restaurant feels like your typical New England lobster shack, with cute picnic tables and even some live music if you get lucky. We ordered the warm lobster roll and fish sandwich to share. Neither dish is cheap... which is to be expected, but it's at least good portions. After about 10 minutes of waiting, we were called to pick up our food. Both of these sandwiches were filled to the brim with meat and other toppings, so much so that we felt we needed to eat fast otherwise the bread might start disintegrating. Everything was super tasty and flavorful here. I was surprised how tasty the pickles/slaw was on the fish sandwich, the lobster roll was perfectly meaty and buttery, and the french fries that came with the lobster roll were seasoned well. Traveling through and decided to stop at this highly rated lobster roll cart. Tried the lobster roll as well as the clear chowder. The clear chowder was so good, all of the flavor without the heaviness of the thick broth. The lobster roll was the winner. Amazingly delicious buttery roll that held its consistency until the very last bite. The roll was stuffed with lobster and well worth the price that we paid. Dune Bros. used to have a fabulous act but !!WoW!! really gone downhill... My lobster roll was 2/3 the size it used to be with 2/3 the lobster they used to give you. It was not coated in warm butter, the lobster meat was cold and dry and there was no mayo on the sandwich. Their Old Bay fries used to be awesome and I opted for those with my sandwich but while there was an abundance of fries, they were cold and mealy... What happened!!?? Extremely disappointed.... This was my second time at Dune Brothers, and it was delicious both times! It was a perfect spot to bring friends from out of town to get a great lobster roll, especially while the weather was still nice. We also got some clam cakes, which weren't our favorite, but I'm glad I got to try something new here. The side of garlic aioli was also very good. I could have sworn I wrote a review years ago because I love the Dune Bros, and I literally nearly missed a flight out of TF Green because I insisted we get a fish sandwich first. So, just imagine that I began at 5 stars and now am dropping - more like 0.5 - because they have changed some things and it made me sad. Okay, to be clear, I have been dreaming about this fish sandwich for two years, after I moved to Florida and then Texas for my husband's job, and I couldn't wait to return to get it again. First, I tried to order it with the cape shark as I'm *pretty sure* it came standard as cape shark before. The server insisted it is, and has only ever been, pollock, which I know is not true because I'm not a fan of pollock. I remember eating the fins. But okay - no option to get the sandwich with cape shark now. Second- the pickles. I'm pretty sure they used to be standard pickles, and now they're sweet. Why sweet?? This may be my pregnancy talking, but please don't ruin a good thing by using sweet pickles. Third- their slaw felt overpowered (by the pickles?) or maybe the tartar sauce...I know they used a sauce before, but I remember it differently. And the AWARD WINNING SLAW could be eaten on its own as an amazing side dish, and I felt like it wasn't as pizzazzy as it used to be. However: this is still the best fish sandwich I've found, and if you never tasted the OG, you wouldn't know you're missing out. It's the size of your head and totally worth the price. But the nostalgic part of me misses the way it was. And I wish you could still get it with cape shark. I can't speak to the other items as they are now (as opposed to 2+ years ago), but classically, their chowder and clam cakes are phenomenal and hands down the best you'll find in PVD. While working the area I looked up what was good in the area, I was not let down. The food! All the food is sooo good! The steamed clams were so good I drank the sauce! The lobster roll was perfect. Classic and delicious. The clam chowder was what I expected a yummy clam chowder to be. And the one thing that is the least on the plate, the French fries, are perfect. Crisp outer shell and warm soft insides. It's a food truck. So you're eating outside. Fortunately for us it was an absolutely perfect day. It's good to note, because it's a food truck, there is no bathrooms. There is a porta potty. Parking can be a little tough, but there are lots around the area. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. We were visiting family and don't have a great place near us to get HOT lobster rolls. We chose Dune's based on the great Yelp reviews and loved it so much...we went twice in two days. The lobster roll is a special and while it isn't cheap, it does seem like everything is made to order - even the fries. Both the roll and fries are perfectly seasoned. It's outdoor seating only and on Saturday it was extremely busy. The staff did tell customers it would be a 30 minute wait for food but that didn't seem to scare anyone off. Found this place 1/2 mile walk from our hotel in downtown Providence after having a hankering for local seafood. Wow! Just wow! Huge portions of the freshest fish around. The fish sandwich was so big, the hearty roll could barely contain it. The single piece of pollock on the fish and chips hung over the side of the traditional paper boat with beef tallow fried Old Bay fries below. We also ordered a 3 piece clam cake. Just to preface, if they tell you the wait is 30 minutes, tack on an extra 15 minutes. When we ordered, they told us it would be 25-30 minutes, but it ended up being about 45-50. We went on a rainy and cold Saturday for lunch. Even with the weather there was a line - a good sign! We ordered lobster rolls that came with fries and each had a local soda. Unique to this roll was the small line of mayo they lay down on the bun before piling on the lobster, butter and chives on top. The bun is one that looks like a little loaf of bread and it was toasted on both sides. The fries - wouldn't change a thing - crispy on the outside with just the right amount of old bay seasoning. In my opinion it doesn't go well and completely ruined an otherwise delicious treat. They were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside just like I like them but LIME zest? They were extra large though! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy lime but in Mexican cuisine or a margarita, imo it doesn't belong in a clam cake, especially a New England style clam cake. Note the menu said they add lemon zest but it was definitely not lemon, it was lime! Completely ruined it and I literally had to douse it with vinegar more than usual to cover the taste.
