First time to Providence, RI and this place showed up on our radar and let me tell you for a food truck, the food quality was top notch! One of the best lobsters of all time I have had, nothing but knuckle meat and the fries are on point. We shared the lobster roll, the OG fish sandwich and the fish and chips. Let's just say that everything was amazing!! Huge portions and the weather couldn't have been better. I will mention that the OG fish sandwich is SO loaded with toppings that it will be a bit messy. A hundred napkin type of messy, but it is SO good and so worth it. : ) It's a food truck, so I can't say much about the service other than you order and get HOT food served when they call your name. The ambiance is and outdoor picnic table if you can get one and it's pretty straight forward. If you are ever in Providence, RI, this place has to be on the map for you, especially if you are in the downtown area. Parking though can be a little tough though.

Dune Brothers is probably my favorite all-around spot in Providence. It really captures the spirit of the city: casual outdoor seating, picnic tables, good vibes, and super fresh seafood. Whenever friends are visiting from out of town, this is always my go-to because it feels quintessentially Rhode Island. The food is fantastic. The fish and chips are massive and delicious, the lobster roll is warm, fresh, and perfectly seasoned, and the crab roll is tasty too--more saucy and served cold. The fries are huge, fluffy, and well-seasoned. Both the clear and white clam chowders are good, though I personally prefer the white for a more traditional taste (clear is very Rhode Island-style). I don't like mussels myself, but my friends rave about them. Parking is limited--there are a few spots by the restaurant, but otherwise you'll need to street park. They close pretty early, so plan ahead, or order ahead for takeout. The food can take a little while, but it's totally worth it--the seafood is super fresh and satisfying.

A classic New England seafood shack right in the heart of Providence. Friendly staff and a handful of outdoor tables with umbrellas to enjoy your meal. The fish sandwich was out of this world - so crispy and full of flavor between the slaw and pickles. The sandwich itself is loaded with toppings so it did become a little messy to eat. Appreciate that the lobster roll comes with fries (most places offer chips or just the roll) but was a little light on the lobster compared to other shacks. We got the hotdog on a whim. The dog itself had great snap. Really glad we stopped by to give this place a try!

Delicious seafood! Very generous portions I ordered the: -pollock fish and chips: super crispy, fried in beef fat. The fries were thick cut (my fav!) and the fish was super fresh and flaky. -clam fritters: these were popular so I had to try them. They were very battered. It's different, I would try it if it's my first time but I'll skip it next time. Service was quick and workers were nice

    Lobster rolls, clam chowder

We got lobster rolls and clam chowder. The rolls were loaded with lobster and a good portion of fries, which made the price more worth it. The clam chowder was delicious with whole pieces of clams instead of small chunks. Definitely worth stopping by!

The fish sandwich & lobster roll are 1000/10. I will say I preferred the fish sandwich from the amazing flavors. The staff was great - I went to the one at union station because the other locations are seasonal. My favorite meal of Providence for sure!

A local favorite, always busy and a must in the summer time! This is my go to for a lobster roll in PVD and it never disappoints. Love the outside seating and laid back vibe.

If you can go and explore a new place anywhere in America in 3 days, where would it be? Well, we chose Providence, Rhode Island! It's largely because my high school senior daughter wanted to do a campus tour of the Brown University. We arrived on Saturday night, toured the campus guided by one of her friends who is a Brown sophomore on Sunday, and came back on Monday. It's about 6-hr flight from LAX to Rhode Island international airport and I swear it has the best airport restroom in the world with big-pieced granite walls and fresh flowers in the small vases at the sinks, a practice that reminds me of Chick-Fil-A, not sure whether there is any association, LOL! Perhaps, I should do a separate review for the airport itself! LOL! Thanks for your kind patience, now onto the lobster bread roll! When we asked our Uber driver what was a must-try local cuisine/food, he responded without hesitation: lobster roll and clam chowder. We yelped and compared, of course, and decided to try Dune Brothers, so glad we did! Since we have a whole day to explore Brown University, we strolled to RISD museum which took us ~12 min and then another ~12 min to Dune Brothers. It's located adjacent to a bus stop. We would have ordered more food to try but it's just the two of us and our stomachs were still on California time and one glass of protein drink is usually my breakfast, so when we arrived at 1130am ( Dune opens at 11am), we were not terribly hungry. Dune is an open air cafe/food-truck-like diner. Upon arrival, you would be greeted by the red umbrella covered wooden tables and benches seating atop of a sea of broken but smooth white sea shell pieces extending to a patch of green grass area. The venue is about 2/3 of the size of a basketball court. And there was even live music by a couple with beautiful voices and great guitar skills adding more loveliness to this dining experience. I could visualize parties renting this place for special events! The lobster roll, yum! Highly recommended! $39 before tax was well spent, the lobster meat portions were generous and the companied brioche bread was a perfect match. My daughter devoured it! The fries were with good flavor too! I pondered and decided on its whole fish which came in a big round tin dish, beautifully paired with pieces of pears and tomatoes. The fish was fresh and grilled to perfection! Knowing where the restroom is always important to me: port-a-potty is on site or walk to the nearby office buildings. I am dying to try the other items on the menu, whether my kid becomes a Brunonian, I shall return! To make things better, there was a Sunday flea market across the street from Dune and that's where we spent our post- meal leisure time before heading back to the university.

    Samantha J.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon after browsing around the outdoor flea market. Got the fish and chips (with pollock), chowder (clear), clam cakes, and a dune dog. All really good!! You order and sit at the tables and they call your name when it's ready. There was live music too which was a pleasant surprise. Would recommend & go again

Ordered the lobster roll at Dune Brothers stall at Track 15 and it was so good! Completely loaded with lobster and butter! Bun was perfectly toasted. The old bay fries were also great. The only item I didn't care for was the clam cakes - they were pretty dense and breaded.

It was a busy Saturday afternoon at Dune Brothers on this breezy, sunny fall day. Fortunately we were able to get the last open table and the line to order was shorter than expected. The portions are large here, and the food is heavy, so we split one order of fish & chips: Fish & Chips Pollock $24.00 (they offer 3 types of fish including cape shark aka spiny dogfish) Water $2.00 Service Charge $0.78 Total $29.86 Our order was ready within 10 minutes and the fried cod looked massive. It was hot, and the batter as always was delicious. However, the fish was undercooked in the largest part of the cod and the batter was too thick in some places. The fries ranged from crispy to droopy depending on the location in the basket, and they were really over seasoned and much too salty. Next time, we'll ask if they can provide plain fries, and we'll salt them ourselves. Though we were a little disappointed with this visit, we will back next summer.

First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. When it came to the food, service, and dining experience...it couldn't have been better! Everything was incredibly delicious and definitely worth ordering. This memorable experience then reached exceptional circumstances, however, as while we were in the middle of dining here and enjoying our delicious food, there was a shooting occurring just up the street at Brown University. I wish to commend the staff at Dune Brothers, who looked out for mine and their other patrons' safety and sheltering us in their restaurant as we all nervously waited for more information on what exactly was going on that evening. Exceptional circumstances aside, this restaurant is also exceptional when it comes to the quality of their food and service. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Providence!

We tried the Crème Brûlée, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Berry Compote flavors, and every single one was light, fluffy, flavorful, and beautifully presented. They were sweet without being overwhelming and perfectly suited our palate. I also tried the pistachio coffee. Only reason I'm giving 1 star still is because the waitress was very nice and what happens in the kitchen is not her fault! I think her name is (Katy?) I can't remember exactly but she was super nice! We got there for 11:30 reservation. Waited 15 minutes before we were seated which I didn't love already because there's no waiting area and nowhere to sit where the restaurant is so you have to stand around waiting for the table. Well by the time we left there I finally understood why we had to wait another 15 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. We ordered our food and drinks and got our drinks fairly quick but the food took way too long considering that it's breakfast items and they didn't have that many tables to begin with even including inside dining. Our pancakes took almost 40 minutes to come out and our sides never even came out with the pancakes which I thought was weird. The sides didn't come out for another almost 15 minutes. By the time everything was out my son was getting fussy so I just asked for everything to be packed up to go. The high chair was also dirty and oily with food still on the sides and not cleaned at all. I was talking to the family that sat next to us because the waiter who brought out their food messed up and brought their sides to another table dropped it off then found out the food was not at the right table and brought it straight to the right table after it's been sitting at the wrong table for a few minutes at that point! That family also said they waited a really long time for their food and their food didn't all come out at the same time either so it seems like this is normal. I also went to ask the hostess how much longer for our food before our pancakes came out few minutes later. She asked me how long it's been since I put in my order I said about 30 min already and she said oh that's sounds about right. So that just proves that food normally take this long to get out to the table! I'm used to way shorter wait times for breakfast foods this just didn't seem normal to me. Let's get to the food! I had the original pancakes with the blueberry and strawberry, got a side of scrambled eggs, sausages, and home fries. For drinks I got a fresh orange juice and my sister got the Dubai chocolate latte. The Dubai chocolate latte was delicious and so was the orange juice but definitely over priced for the portion size, but I guess it's acceptable being federal hill prices for most people? Personally I thought it was way overpriced not just the drinks but everything considering the proportions. The pancakes were ok didn't taste as eggy as I expected being that it's supposed to be more egg based which is totally fine the texture was good. The strawberries on top I thought were going to be fresh strawberries but it seems like it's more of a compote. The scrambled eggs were a little too charred for my liking I've never really had scrambled eggs charred before. Potatoes were ok for the most part in terms of flavor but my sister had some that were still kinda undercooked and hard. The sausages were really flavorful. Overall I don't think we'll be returning or recommend this place for the breakfast at least. Way overpriced and not worth the hype.

At their front patio, they had the World Cup game playing, but the back patio felt cozier so we opted for that. The inside though was a strong second since the lighting is very low, creating a cool and calm environment. Walking through the restaurant to get to our table made me realize that each table is unique, no two are decorated the same or have the same furniture. It was a hot day but the overhead mesh cover blocked out a lot of the sun. Our waitress made us feel very welcome from the start and told us about their drink and food specials. My friend ordered Guatemalan beer as well as a Spanish beer. For food, we ordered the plantain fries, octopus, calamari, and shrimp salad, and grilled lamp chops. The seafood salad came out first. According to the menu, it was going to be paired with cornbread. It looked like sourdough bread but had a far denser consistency. I was expecting the salad to have lots of shrimp to act as a filler but surprisingly, it was about 60% octopus, 25% calamari, 10% shrimp, and 5% onions. The seafood was very flavorful, tasted fresh, and cooked perfectly. The portion size was great for two. Next came the plantain fries, which I was least impressed with as it was essentially fried plantain chunks. I think it would have been better if they were cut into smaller pieces that can be easily dipped and consumed in one bite. The plantain was gently ripe, so just a little sweet and the dipping sauce was like a less sour sour cream. Lastly, the lamp chops came out and the presentation was wonderful. They were a bit skinnier and less tender than that I was expecting, but flavor wise they were good. We enjoyed the food, ambiance, and service here.

One of the hostesses was an absolute doll. We loved her. We sat for just a little while waiting for appetizers, and my wife discovered that her ASS REALLY HURT, badly, and mine was getting bad too, due to my lack of natural cushion back there. My wife stood up and never sat back down. She noticed a 4 top leaving and asked the hostess if we could move, completely unaware of the challenges this can pose the crew during the course of business (changing table numbers in a POS isn't always as easy as it sounds). But she agreed it should be ok. They were busy, too, and I heard that they had some staff call in "sick" after a wild 4th of July. So they took care of us and I was really grateful for that. My Mexican Corn Chicken Sando was ok... the flavors kind of got mixed together on a way that it didn't really taste that awesome to me. The wife loved her Huevos Rancheros, despite the hair she found in it (after having them change our seats, she was too embarrassed to say anything about that) and the tortillas that were so Chewy, they were inedible, she really enjoyed it. Our daughter really really liked the poutine a lot. All in all, I wouldn't rush back here, but I think our main complaint was the accursed seating. Aside from the high top, man, on the regular seats you're just sitting on a flat block of wood. McDonald's has more comfortable seating, and McDonald's intentionally makes the seating slightly uncomfortable so you don't just sit there forever, taking up a table. Anyway, it was alright. Every restaurant has its difficult days (and it's difficult customers!).
