East Bay Buffet is located across the street from Casa Orozco, near the corner of San Ramon Rd and Amador Valley Blvd. They occupy the space left vacant by McNamara's Steak and Seafood. I came here for dinner with a group of friends on Monday 10/20/2025. The place was surprisingly busy when we walked in at around 6:30pm. We were immediately by a gentleman who's either the owner or the manager. He was friendly and courteous, and gave us the lowdown about the dinner service. For weeknights, the price was $39.99 per person. After we paid, he led us to a table near the back. The redesigned interior was charming, and cleanliness was excellent. The dinner buffet consisted of several categories: chilled seafood and appetizers, sushi and sashimi, cooked seafood and Chinese dishes, dim sum, malatang, and dessert. I sampled a good variety of items, and the quality ranged from so‑so to good. On the pro side, I especially enjoyed the steamed abalone, the Cantonese beef stew and offal, and the malatang. They also offered bottled and canned drinks from China, along with milk tea, which was a big plus. On the con side, the sushi and sashimi selection was somewhat limited, and the Chinese dishes were mediocre. Service we received was good. Staff members were polite and helpful. Overall, I enjoyed my first experience here. Will return.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday for the first time. People were already lining outside the door before they opened at 11am. Additional parking in back behind the restaurant. You pay first, then go eat. Various seating areas 1) Lots of variety - sushi and sashimi section, hot chinese food, dim sum and children's favorites, separate seafood variety, custom hot soup where you grab your toppings and select your soup base, dessert section 2) Sometimes the line at the station doesn't move and you're waiting for it to move. This happens during prime time such as at 12 3) A dish does not always get refilled right away during prime time so you need to go back and try again, it's timing and luck 4) Lots of drink variety - bottled drinks, lemonades, bobas 5) Dessert section - small cakes, cookies, fruit - most popular is the chocolate fountain with strawberries or marshallmallow. Strawberries go fast. 6) Soups - 3 types to pick from including jook 7) Ice cream cups: 3 flavors to pick from - vanilla, strawberry and chocolate There's so much variety that there's bound to be something you like. Pace yourself so you can try as much as you can. There is a time limit and if it's busy you might get a warning like we did since we were part of a large party and people were waiting outside. Bon Appetit!

Normally our family celebrates special occasions at Tomi in SJ, but this time we decided to try something different and came here for my brother's birthday. It was my first time experiencing an all-you-can-eat buffet in Dublin, and I have to say it left a great impression. We went for Sunday lunch, which was priced at $43.99, and I was pleasantly surprised that they included dinner menu items like steak and lobster (They are cooked fresh while you wait). While the lobster wasn't unlimited, you could add one lobster tail for $6, which I thought was a reasonable option. One of the highlights for me was the hotpot station--it was actually my first time ever seeing hotpot offered at an AYCE buffet, and it made the experience feel more unique and interactive. I also really appreciated the self-serve beverage machine, which made it super convenient to refill drinks whenever we wanted. On top of that, they had a selection of bottled drinks in the fridge, and even milk tea, which was a nice bonus you don't usually see at buffets. As for the food, there was a wide variety to choose from. I especially enjoyed the steak, which was flavorful and cooked well, along with the sushi and seafood options. They also had a good selection of Chinese dishes that complemented everything nicely. Overall, the variety and quality of the food made it feel like a great value for the price. It turned out to be a fun and memorable way to celebrate my brother's birthday. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely come back again in the future.

On Sundays, all-day price is pretty steep at $40 (10% discount for seniors). Food is good, with lots of variety, but I'd recommend going for weekday lunch when it's less expensive. For Sunday, they did have raw oysters, a fresh-made steak station, steamed fish, salmon, sushi, and lots of hot food. They also have a variety of drinks (bottled drinks, soda, tea, etc) available with the price. I thought dessert was a bit lacking, with lack of fresh fruits and more pre-made desserts, but they do have a chocolate fondue fountain. Note the price also comes with an automatic 8% service charge.

Seven months since our first visit, we decided to give East Bay Buffet another try. We had read in many reviews that some adjustments had been made to improve the traffic flow and guest experience. We were greeted at the register. I told the cashier that we were both seniors. They have a generous 25% discount for seniors over age 65 on Tuesday evening. Her co-worker asked to see IDs which we gladly provided. Once we paid, we were taken to a table. We put down our jackets and headed for the food. At buffets, I always like to walk the entire food line before I even take a plate. Where I really noticed a difference was two electric steam tables placed against a wall where there were eight dishes to choose from. In general, the food lines were clean. Employees kept going by and stirring up the food, so everything looked fresh. The hot dishes were hot, and the cold seafood was chilled on ice. We didn't try the Malatangs. Some of the dishes that I tried were very good. Some were not as good. We found that some of the shrimp dishes were overcooked. It seemed that the dishes that were supposed to have some heat to them were flavored with jalapeno peppers, in other words, very one note. We did not try any of the sushi. We are sushi snobs and prefer sashimi over all the fancy rolls that people like to order. What I look for in an Asian Buffet is good, hot food. If I can get won ton, hot & sour soup, deep fried chicken wings and deep fried fish, I'm usually a happy camper. East Bay Buffet offered numerous shrimp dishes which made so much happier. Staff was efficient in checking on our satisfaction and removing empty dishes. We ate our fill and left before our 90 minutes of dining time ran out. On the way home, I started to get the gurgles. While I did not feel sick, I was on the porcelain throne more than I was off for the next four hours. The four dishes that I tried that she didn't have were the raw oysters, peel 'n eat shrimp, cold crab and wakame salad. Doing a little research, I believe that the culprit was the raw oysters that I consumed. Symptoms usually show up within four hours of consumption. I also found a FDA warning, dated April 22nd against consuming raw oysters harvested between March 22 and April 9 from Gomez Shellfish in Washington State. I don't know where East Bay Buffet gets their oysters from and I won't blame them for my symptoms, however, if I ever return, you can bet I will not be eating any raw oysters here. Had it not been for the negative experience, I would have given another rating of three stars.

We finally have a buffet back i town. Have been here twice, the first time we went on a Thursday evening, it was not busy at all. We had access to all the food. We sampled their sushi, crab legs, their dim sum and the hot seafood section. Sushi offerings included sashimi and rolls. No fishy smells from the raw fish. The snow crabs legs were sweet, even my picky teenager who never eat crab went back for seconds. loved that black bean clams and they had unlimited amount of crab boil and crawfish. The corn in the crab boil was delicious both times I went. Loved that they had unlimited drinks and it is not limited to the soda fountain. The last time we went it was right after graduation and it was busy but the wait staff clearing our table was on the ball. She showed up and cleared our plates without asking. Will be back.

Omg I just loved this place!!!! Such a huge variety of tasty treats! Sushi station where they are making it fresh, made to order Hot Pot, salads, fruits, desserts, crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, oxtail, rice, noodles, dumplings, etc. Drinks, sodas, teas, taro boba, ice cream, coffee, some American food, just soooo good! Great service, clean, only thing I would recommend is getting there early!

Date: 3/14/2026 Time: 5:00 PM 69° Sunny Usually I am not an AYCE buffet fan. However, East Bay Buffet was a surprise. One of my sisters chose this restaurant for family dinner in celebration of Chinese New Year, which has passed about a week ago. The selection of the appetizers, sushi and entrees were fresh and quite delicious. The salmon was on the dry side. I should have grabbed some lemon wedges for a little zing and moisture to enhance the flavor of the salmon. My male companion enjoyed the hot 'n sour soup and clam chowder. I decided to have the seafood soup, which was a mistake. It was loaded with MSG. I should have chosen the hot 'n sour soup or the clam chowder soup. My second plate was siu mai, potstickers, shrimp with cocktail sauce, mango pudding and orange jello. Beverages were raspberry tea and mango lemonade. I was too full to get some tiramisu and ice cream. Service was fine. The employees worked quickly to gather the plates once we were through eating. Return visit? I enjoyed the food, but the drawback is traveling from Alameda to Dublin for an AYCE buffet. Might then might not.

    The noodles are worth it!

I came here for the first time after seeing so many positive reviews, and they have a big selection--sushi, salad, seafood, grill, noodles, soups, and desserts. Sadly, the sushi was a letdown--the deep-fried rolls were cold, and overall the food wasn't warm:( I was excited for the self-serve lemonades, but they were really watery. The best part was definitely the grilled noodles--they were delicious!

I've been to East Bay Buffet twice now, both times for Saturday lunch, which is $29.99 per person. Definitely feels like a better deal compared to their weekend dinner price at $43.99. The only real reason I'd go for dinner is if you want steak or lobster, but those cost extra on top of the dinner price anyway. What I like about this place is that it's clean and they're really good about keeping the food stocked. Nothing felt like it was sitting out too long. I've tried the malatang, sushi, and dim sum, and everything was solid. The dim sum especially surprised me since most buffets don't do it well, but this one actually does a decent job. The only thing I wasn't really into was the seafood boil. It just didn't stand out to me. I also wish they had salt and pepper crab like Fusion Buffet in Concord. Overall, I like coming here because I can try a little bit of everything, and for the price, it's pretty worth it. I'll definitely be back.

Mala soup... don't be fooled NOT that spicy. Very yummy

Finally had a chance to try this place. The place is pretty big for a buffet. So I'm not surprised by the price. There are some sushi area, regular chinese food area, dimsum area, fried food area , hot pot area, seafood area, dessert area and drinks and ice cream area. I was a little overwhelmed by the options , there are really no good way to figure out the flow of the stations. So sometimes I feel like I'm going against the flow. So I'm not sure if I did it right. Anyways, Surprisingly enjoyed the dimsum options. I tried the buns (bbq and custard), sticky rice, spare rib, shumai. I would eat them again except for the spareribs. They are chewy and had lots of bone fragments. Not my favorite. The mushroom dish in the Chinese station was lovely and the bbq pork is decent. Not a big fan of the sushi station, they're ok but I honestly wouldn't go back for them. The porridge with pork and egg was lovely. I can eat a whole giant bowl of it. Especially if they put more toppings options. The only option I saw was green onion. If they have Chinese donuts, peanuts, etc that would be awesome. Now I was debating on whether I wanted to try their hot pot. Because at this point I was getting full. But I wanted to see how spicy their Mala soup is. I grab some small amount of filling and asked them to just give me a small amount of soup. I don't want to waste it in case it's too spicy. But it really wasn't. Even though it was marked 3 , I would say it was more like 1. Tastes lovely but if you're worried about it being too spicy, I would not. I would get it again for sure. My kids tried them too and they said it was also not that spicy. They can eat this level as well. Anyways, the most impressive station was the drink station. The option was more than I've ever seen in any buffet. If I wasn't too full I would have tried more of them. I didn't get any dessert as I was too full, but I tried a spoon for the cheesecake from my kid's plate, it was ok. Reminds me of ranch 99 cake for some reason. My kid likes the fruit options. Service was great. Absolutely no complain. You pay for the 8% service fee up front. Overall, I thought for the lunch price it was reasonable. For 3 people we paid almost $100. Food 3.5/5 Service 4/5 (very nice workers)

Malatang Soup; I put a few of their seafood options and upon noodles that are available in the food bar.

I love their Malatang soup!! Food choices are decent and you for sure can get your money's worth. Depending on the day it can get pretty busy.

Fairly enjoyed this restaurant. We had a chance to finally check out East Bay Buffet in Dublin this past weekend. It's a solid spot if you're looking for a bit of everything. The selection is huge everything (sashimi, seafood, sushi to hot pot and Mongolian Wok, and classic Chinese dishes and dim sum). The place is clean and feels pretty modern, and the staff did a great job. Almost forgot, I loved the all you can drink drinks (bottles, red bean, taro, boba, etc)

How many free birthday meal can we have if we have group of 6 since I have two ppl has the same birthday?

Unless they changed their rules, it'll be only 1 free birthday meal with your current setup. As a previous poster mentioned the birthday meal is when you have 4 paying adults in the group. So unless you can get 4 more adults in another group to… Read more

Do they have free meal for your birthday?

Yes, but as a previous poster mentioned you'll also need 4 adult paying customers in the group unless they changed their rules.

Is the free birthday meal only valid for the day of? Or is it valid for a couple days before/after?

We've gone a couple days before/after and they've honored the free birthday meal. You have to have a group of at least 4 adults though.

What kind of cooking oil is used for fried items? If "vegetable" oil does it have soy in the oil?

Do we need a reservation for dinner on a Wednesday night?

If you were going as a large party like 4+ then I would consider calling to getting a reservation as a precaution imo, but maybe more towards the weekend I would definitely call to make sure.

Menu show two diff prices for sat lunch. What is the correct price?

We have different price for Saturday, $29.99 for lunch, $43.99 for dinner.

Does it serve any Wild CAUGHT FISH?

Thank you for your question. At this time, we do not serve wild caught fish. Our seafood selection features high-quality, responsibly sourced options chosen for freshness and consistency.

What is the cost for lunch?

26.99 plus tax and they charge an 8% service charge

Is this one pet Friendly (outdoor dining)?

No, outdoor eating at this one. The only buffet that has some outdoor eating would be fusion buffet in concord, but I would suggest calling to see if they'll let pets sit in that area.

Do they offer sashimi for lunch? Update: I JUST CHECKED and they don't serve sashimi for WEEKDAY…

    Yes.

Is there vegetarian or vegan options besides the dessert?

Yes there are veg only dishes. The malatang section also has veg based broth.

Are there differences in the food available during lunch buffet versus dinner buffet?

Yes. According to the host, the lunch buffet does not include wagyu steaks and they don't have the crab legs, oysters and shellfish which they have at dinner.

Do they offer a senior discount?

    Yes. 10% off.

I went around and thought that there's going to be more room but it's not what I expected. Also am surprised that it's that many people on Monday but I guess they're celebrating late Father's Day too? Anyways, the food is really delicious and quality is tremendous. Very upscale honestly especially with how big the portion sizes are. I individually got Chicken Katsudon and it's not really hard. Very chewy and I couldn't finish it since I ate a lot of sushi before it arrived. My sister didn't even finish her individual plate too and so we ended up taking them to go. What shocked me is that they serve us a huge portion of desserts especially the green tea ice cream. I thought that it's only going to be one scoop but they gave us 3! I think the one scoop is for someone's birthday? I don't know. And the vanilla ice cream with grilled pineapple is so yummy and it had a lot of cinnamon flavor I believe. It's one of the best vanilla ice creams I'd ever had. I probably never tasted vanilla ice cream that good before! I also appreciate the staff for helping with us with our orders! They were so helpful and kind to us. If I ever bring my friends over, it'd be this place. I highly recommend for others to try this place because the food here is really amazing!

Recent fish + chips and beef chow fun were both just okay. I would choose differently if I could do it again. The server is always friendly and hospitable. It's a common drink that its clientele asks for. The place was initially empty. Then a few tables became occupied. I would like to see the return of a happy hour menu. Ordered the chow gun and was served what looked like a bowl of dog food I had to get up and leave the bar to sit in a corner table because the couple next to me were so drunk they were having a very loud and expletive laden conversation which I did not care to listen to. Absolutely ZERO check in on quality of beverage, food, or experience by the bartender. The WORST experience I urge you to avoid this place if at all possible

We arrived at 7:40 PM, and the manager, Joseph, told us the restaurant would close in 10 minutes. I said that's OK. We'll order the food and eat as much as we can there until we have to leave, and then we will leave by the time we are asked to leave. My boyfriend, Jeff, thought the restaurant was open until 8 PM, so he checked the website. It said the location was open till 8 PM, so he walked outside to check the time on the door, and it read 8 PM. There were no other signs that said they were closing at 7:50 PM. Jeff called somebody to complain about the time discrepancy while we were waiting for our order to arrive. When our order arrived, Kira brought our food to the table in a really cute to-go bag, and I like that she listened to us that we would eat as much food as we could while we were at the restaurant and then take the rest to eat at home when it came closer to 8 PM. Our food was ready pretty quickly; we had plenty of time to finish our food before 8 PM. However, I think Jeff just wanted the manager to be upfront with him and say that the store was closing at 8 PM, so it's better to take your food to go or something like that, not make up an arbitrary time to say what time the restaurant was closed. I'm rating this Koja kitchen location four stars mainly because of the outstanding customer service provided by Kira. She was incredibly friendly and approachable, making the experience very pleasant. I wish more customer service representatives could be as kind and easy to talk to as she is.

I ordered the Tom Kha (coconut soup) - which by the way is THEE best I've ever had in the places I've traveled (within the US of A, may I clarify)! After eating that deliciousness (with chicken), I had me some Yellow Curry with chicken, steamed rice and a little salad and GOOD LAWD, my taste buds would not stop dancing! Between my sister and I we ordered three things but I couldn't eat no more because ....well...er... I ate those 2 and couldn't stuff anything more. The owners are so friendly and kind too; along with their service staff....they are amazing!!!! We ordered 3 dishes and would you like to know how inexpensive this was? Less than $50!!!!!
