I brought my Mini in with a free diagnostic coupon, having been a loyal customer for 6 years. I worked with Daniel Martinez because of a slight ticking noise, which I suspected might be the spark plugs. Daniel confirmed the plugs were fine, but the rest of the experience was incredibly frustrating. Throughout my visit, I felt constantly pressured to authorize additional inspections and services. I had to repeat myself three or four times, stating I only wanted to diagnose the ticking noise so I could prioritize repairs. While Daniel was polite, the aggressive upselling made me put my guard up. I left my car on Friday morning, and though the mechanic sent a video pointing out other issues, he couldn't identify the source of the ticking. After playing phone tag, Daniel informed me on Monday that it would cost an additional $450 just to "explore" the cause of the noise--and that fee would not go toward the actual repair. I declined and picked up my car, only to be subjected to yet another upsell attempt for air filters. The lack of expertise and constant sales pressure completely eroded my trust. On my drive home from Pleasanton to Oakland, the slight ticking escalated into a severe, full knock. I texted Daniel immediately to voice my concerns but received absolutely no response. The following week, I took my car to an independent specialist in German cars. Within two and a half hours, they diagnosed the issue perfectly: a failing water pump was disrupting belt tension and causing the knock. The diagnostic fee was a reasonable $103 (waived if repaired there), and the service was entirely pressure-free. The contrast was night and day. As a 6-year customer, I expected to be valued and respected. Instead, I felt like a target for upsells. I will never bring my car back to East Bay Mini. read more

This is a review for the service rep. The gal that answered the phone was condescending, clueless & rude. My mechanic stated I had a faulty shift linkage assembly which is a known issue by BMW & is covered by an "extended warranty". I called & asked how do I find out if my car is covered. She stated we would have to inspect the car. Completely understandable. I asked after the inspection, if its confirmed that is the issue, is my car covered? She said again we have to inspect the car & refused to answer the question. I asked what the parameters were for the extended warranty. Like a parrot, no matter what just kept saying we have to inspect the car. No kidding. I acknowledged that multiple times. She refused to say anything else. I finally asked to speak to the service manager. She was snotty & said he's just going to tell you the same thing. I called Mini in Concord & the guy there looked it up & said after we inspect the car if its confirmed to be the issue your car is covered if under 10yrs old & under 120,000 miles. Very simple answer took 2 min to look up. He was very nice, knowledgeable & professional. I scheduled my car for the following Monday. My car had some alerts & I'm not too sure what they were, so I made an appointment with my favorite person at BMW Kier. He had open availability & I was able to come in the next day & he was able to let me know the issues with my car and what the alerts meant. Unfortunately my car was going to be kept a little longer than anticipated and Kier was able to accommodate me with a loaner! Which is a huge, I am a full time working mom of 2 and not having a car would have been very difficult. Compared to MINI Stevens Creek, why did I sleep on this place? Not only are the prices of service here so much cheaper but when they say my appointment is at "x" time, I'm actually handled on time or even earlier. Of the two times I had to go, I was attended to immediately and everything was pretty much done in a few hours. Albeit, the first time I came for my oil change, they said my front tires needed a brake pad change due to the pads being almost at 3mm. I was skeptical and when reviewing my documents I didn't see the inspection numbers. I reviewed my past numbers and I couldn't believe that in just 11 months it would go from 9mm to 3mm as I don't drive every day (rarely just once a week) and I don't brake like crazy. So I came back with the intention of potentially getting my front brake pads changed, but Josh who helped me out was FABULOUS. He told me that they'd do a video measurement and wont' do any work unless absolutely necessary. This place was the first time I had videos done of what work was done. It's awesome. In less than an hour, I had a video of the technician measuring my break pads and it was at 5mm which is plenty of time to not have to change it yet. They washed my car and had it ready to go for me pick up. When I did pick up, no charges and I got a car wash. Again thank you Josh! So yes, they did tell me one thing but they fixed it and I didn't have to get charged just some time driving to and from this place. After getting the run around at Mini of Steven's Creek and their horrible customer service i called East Bay Mini. Told the woman on the phone that i needed my headlight replaced and was having my best friend bring in my car cause i was a dialysis patient. Asked if we could order the headlight ahead of time so it'd be a quick in and out and my friend wouldn't have to wait long. Was assured they'd have the headlight and job would be done same day. Friend took car on Saturday and was told they in fact did not have the part and the car wouldn't be ready till Tuesday. I understand there are shortages and supply issues still - but that's exactly why I asked for the part to be there ahead of time. I also understand miscommunications happen but for the love of all things holy please don't make promises that can't be kept. read more

I have two Minis and you can't just bring them anywhere for service. It's like they're super sensitive and need a lot of love. During covid I was able to make an appointment the next day for service. Jeff was my service advisor. I had an oil change and brake service for my 2013 Paceman. The appointment was easy to make online and in person, super convenient and fast. After service, my Mini was even washed, super clean on the outside like new. Compared to Mtn View and Stevens Creek, East Bay Mini is a way better experience before and after. worst dealership ever on the planet!!!! On 4/9/20, I returned a vehicle at the end of leasing term. I was told it was a quick process since I had done the pre-inspection already. From the time that I handed Joe Pagano the key, I waited for over 45 minutes for him to process the return. I saw him walked by 25 minutes later and he did not acknowledge me at all. I had leased other vehicles before and other times I literally just dropped off the keys and left the dealership within 10 minutes. I actually thought if I had misheard him and I was actually good to go. I would want to confirm with him before I left the place. I had to go the parts and service department to ask them to look for Joe Pagano for me because there was no other sales manager on floor. They tried to page/call him and couldn't find him either. 45 minutes has gone by, he finally showed up. He apologized for the wait and informed me that the system was down. He couldn't process the return on the computer. He asked me for to sign the Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability (NRL) on paper and everything would be taken care of. I did and left. Later, I received statement that showed damages not caused by me. When I confronted the dealership, the dealership couldn't offer solution and said the vehicle had returned to BMW Financial. When I contacted BMW Financial, they said they never seen the vehicle at the time of the return so there was no proof. I was also told that "a lot can happen from the pre-inspection to the day of return, and here are the charges." It was a he say she say situation and the fines were not significant since most of the fees/fines were covered under the extended warranty. I didn't want to deal with them and just paid the fines. When I thought I was done with the nonsense from this place, 2 months later, I received DMV registration statement for the registration fee. I already knew that the dealership was not going to help, so I contacted BMW financial right away. I was told to send the letter of return to DMV to show that the vehicle is no longer in my procession and it would take care of it. I did as instructed. 4 months after I have returned the vehicle, I am still getting letters from DMV. I called BMW Financial again, this time I was told that I need to cancel the plates with DMV. Wait, seriously? I have never heard of that! Then I called East Bay Mini next, I was told that I need to fill out the NRL online and it should take care of it. WTF? I filled that out at the time of return of the vehicle. Anyways, I did it both online and paper this time. Hopefully, I am done with them at this point. To keep my review short and simple, I had actually cut out some of the details. i.e., the phone tags that I was playing with Joe Pagano. He didn't return my messages until multiple voicemails were left or he would ask other sale managers to help me. Remember the system was down when he was taking forever for the return? His other excuses were he was busy or he was at the other office. Hmm... the other office? you meant the BMW next door? Obviously, this General Manager is incompetent as a general manager at an auto dealership. He used to work at Safeway, maybe a grocery store is more suited for him. He might be a good salesman and is great in tricking buyers into paying a high price for the vehicles. But customer service? It was awful. Basically, this place offered no help!!! DO NO SHOP FROM THIS PLACE!! all they want is your money! ZERO customer service! read more

I have been going to the East Bay Mini for over 10 years. I've had a mini Cooper and a mini countryman. Jeff has been there as long as I can remember & is completely professional, nice, and just tells you what's going on. Will let you know if it is urgent or if things can wait for next time.Of course, if it's not like an oil change or something on schedule. For example my brakes need to be done I did the back and I'll do the front later. ( bc they are not quite there yet ) The guys in the garage also give you a video of what's going on, which I like, you get to see. EB Mini broke my heart. I had my heart set on getting a specific Mini Countryman. Test drove one, made an offer, and came to a deal. Only the dream car we closed the deal on was in another lot that the sales person wouldn't disclose the location of after asking multiple times. We signed papers, put a deposit down and were promised a car to pick it up the next day. The next day comes and our salesperson tells us it was sold to another party. I'm upset the sales person's apology wasn't sincere when he broke the bad news, neither did he show empathy to us as customers. They took a deposit and promised they'd get us the car. I've alwasy wanted a mini and when my Subura needed $8k in work I knew it was time. I sent a request in to test drive a car via the website and David Dagstanyan called me within 5 minutes. We had a great chat and set up a time for me to come in. In the meantime, I found the perfect car for me a 2017 Mini Clubman Sport, I sent in another request to drive that car. The next day I arrived at the showroom and there was the car out front with a welcome sign! David went over all the details of the car, and there were a lot! Took me on a great route to test drive the car and shared every last feature with me (there are a lot)! He was patient, knowledgeable and best of all super duper nice! He took me through all the paperwork than hooked me with Melissa Favello in he finance department - she did an amazing job of finding a great rate for me on a loan and took me step by step through the process. She is a true professional and total sweetheart! Buying a car can be a total pain, but not at East Bay Mini! The folks that work their are NICE and the vibe is cool - what else would you expect when buying a car with personality! Such a wonderful experience! For some backstory, I bought my car certified pre-owned from Mini Stevens Creek. I was told that I could only take it into the MINI Stevens Creek dealership for maintenance and servicing. Once the warranty had expired they told me that I could now take it into any MINI. East Bay MINI is the closest location to me. On 6/24/19 I took my car into Steven's Creek for a diagnostic in which I paid $99.95. In the diagnostic they found that my car had severe coolant and oil leaks at the oil filter housing gasket. At the time I communicated that I couldn't afford repairs to my service advisor and he advised me to take it to East Bay MINI when the oil runs low because they top off fluids free of charge until I could get the repairs. Whenever my oil was low I would go into East Bay MINI to get my oil topped off. Because the pricing was so high I was planning to buy the parts that needed to be replaced from East Bay MINI and just take the car to a different shop to be repaired. I called the parts deparment at least twice inquiring about said parts and they quoted me each time. On 10/15/2019 I took my car into East Bay MINI for a diagnostic because although I was making sure that my fluids were topped off, my check engine light came on again. At this time I was ready for my car to be repaired. East Bay MINI charges around $179 for a diagnostic. If you do end up getting maintenance work they waive the fee. Anyway, they told me that they found the issue and would repair it. So I decided to move forward with the repairs. Initially I was to pay half price because my cars extended warranty was going to cover the other half. I decided not to use the warranty and pay out of pocket. Unbeknownst to me they give insurance companies a discounted rate for services. My service advisor Justin Perry had already given me a quote of $833.97--the amount they were going to charge the insurance company. He was lenient enough, or so I thought, to let me pay a discounted amount for repairs. On 10/31/19 I was under the belief that my oil filter housing gasket had been replaced and the leaks were repaired. It did stop leaking oil temporarily and the check engine light did not come on. By 01/15/20 I noticed the engine was smoking and emitted a burnt rubber smell. I reported it to the dealership on 01/17/20 and took it in for a diagnostic on 1/21/20. On 1/22/20 they told me that my oil filter housing gasket was leaking and needed to be replaced for $1699.06 labor and parts along with other work. I knew that I had been deceived and I took the car back on 1/27/20. I reported the issue to my service advisor Justin Perry and the service parts manager Adam O'Keefe. They tried to assure me that when they performed the diagnostic on 10/15/19, the leaks at the oil filter housing gasket were undetectable. In October of 2019 instead of replacing the oil filter housing gasket they replaced two map thermostats. But in the diagnostic from MINI Steven's Creek on 06/24/19 it clearly states, and I quote, " WHEN ENGINE COOLANT IS RUN TOO LOW, FAULT WILL OCCUR FOR MAP THERMOSTAT. RECOMMEND REPAIRING COOLANT AND ENGINE OIL LEAKS AT OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET SET CLEARING FAULT MEMORY AND RE-CHECK VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN IN THIS CONDITION." So there is no possible way that the leaks at the oil filter housing gasket would have gone undetected. I was given misleading information and even after reporting my dissatisfaction with their services East Bay MINI declined repairing my car and giving me a refund. I would at least expect a dealership to have competent employees who know a thing or two about the cars they sell and service. Don't trust these people with your car. Become an informed consumer and ALWAYS get a second opinion. If you do go in for repairs make sure you ask them to show you EXACTLY what was repaired or replaced. Learn from my experience. East Bay MINI stole $837 out of my pocket and I'm sure this isn't the first time they've done shady business. read more

I made a n appointment to have my Mini serviced, and it all went like clockwork. Masks & distancing were practiced. We worked with Justin and he was a delight and very helpful. We needed to order a part that was lost in a little accident & we'd have to drive back for installation, from Manteca. Justin checked & found they had the part & had it installed today-very nice. We had no car so just went wandering around the area & Justin called to let us know the car was ready, just when they had said it would be. When needed, would go back. If I could give it a zero-star rating, I would. I've been to this place before (and always promise I will NEVER return, only to think perhaps i had a "one-off" and try it again), and in addition to being extremely inattentive, they are also incompetent and lacking in basic auto awareness. Surprising considering they specialize in just Minis. My battery failed during the week and I had AAA come and swap in a new one. I went into the shop today simply to "reset my computer" to ensure my car knew it had a new battery so it would not prompt a heck engine light. When I walked into the office at 7:15 am there was no one in line and 3 people behind the desk looking at their phones. They were "unable to assist me" for a number of minutes while recounting their stories about some text conversation that had taken place. Once they did attend me, they said I would have to wait at least 3 hours for the procedure (a 5 minute reset and multiple technicians were free and hanging out drinking coffee in the back). I asked how vital it was for me to reset the computer after installing a new battery and they confirmed it was EXTREMELY important and could severely damage my vehicle if I put it off. I agreed to the wait and price of $90.... Three hours later, it turns out that they were MISTAKEN and could not actually reset my car with the new battery! Instead of apologizing for wasting my time, they informed me they still needed to charge me the $90 (even though no work had been done) because it's policy to at least charge for diagnostics... which they had not run. On top of that, the car wash and vacuum that are typically included with any service work were skipped, as they were still backed up and would be unable to get to my car for an additional hour! I will never go here again and recommend that you try ANY other location before coming here, and only then as a last resort... honestly, unless your car breaks down in front of their business, I would drive to any other mini autobody location before coming here as well. read more

I went here this past Tuesday to take my mini cooper for a general service. I had a easy time booking an appointment online. I was able to snag a spot for the next day at 7:20 AM. I wanted a super early appointment so I could make work meetings starting at 10AM. They told me service would last 1 and 1/2 hours. They didn't finish with my service until 10:30 AM. Quite a wait. They did end up replacing something on the passenger side seat as part of a recall for my specific car, which they didn't charge for so I am sure that extended beyond the normal service time. But forewarned you could end up being here for awhile. They do have a lounge area with free WIFI and there is a diner called, "Super Grill" a few minutes walk away that you can grab some food at. Customer service was decent, no complaints. Lastly props to the car cleaning they did. My mini looks really nice and shiny. Protip: Check in on Yelp and they will give you 20 dollars off your service. read more

My husband called the service department May 6th for glass replacement. Our car was broken into. He was advised they will send an email to the service advisors and someone will get back to him. No call back I called May 14 and follow up on 17th both times the service advisor said he is sending an email to all service managers someone will get back to me. After two days and still no call back i reached Niello Mini in Sacramento. Guess what no one needed to send emails my appointment was scheduled and today finally my glass has been replaced by Niello Mini in Sacramento! read more

East Bay Mini is NOT to be trusted. They misrepresented and lied to me. (Big surprise, right?) I walked in with a BofA auto loan confirmation number for $9K to buy a used Mini. All they needed to do was check the loan number and sell me the car. Instead they claimed that they needed to re-enter my loan info. I asked why, and if they were going to run a credit check again and they said "BofA required it" and "no". A half hour later, my confirmed loan covering the cost of the car magically turned into $6,300 loan with a $3,400 down payment in cash. It says right on the loan confirmation paper that BofA doesn't give loans for less than $7500. So I check my Experian Credit App and sure enough they ran another *hard* credit check, which will affect my credit rating. I left without the car. These guys are car dealers so this of course normal. Don't trust them and don't expect to be treated honestly. read more

Raise your hand if you enjoy the process of buying a car. Not too many hands go up, do they? I can honestly say that my experience at East Bay Mini was pleasant and positive from the get go. We started our car buying process back in late August/early September knowing we'd have to add a third car to the mix since our daughter was now in need of wheels. When we started the process we had our dog Darwin with us. We'd gone to a couple other dealerships and were either not greeted or dismissed. Bryan at East Bay Mini was not only helpful, he was inclusive of our four-legged family. He was helpful and available without being pushy or "sales-y". We were up front with Bryan that we were just beginning the long process of our car-purchase journey, but he was very easy going and even offered to test drive with Darwin. While we were not ready to test drive, that stuck in my mind as fantastic customer service. We came back a couple weeks later this time without Darwin so we could do a test drive. After looking at some of the models we'd zeroed in on the Countryman. Another few weeks after that I'd just accepted a new job where I would then have a small commute (compared to telecommuting full time) and our third car purchase became more pressing. Bryan and my husband worked on the model with features we were looking for and eventually we came in to ink the deal. When we arrived to seal the deal the Countryman we had discussed was parked in front welcoming my husband by name on a marquee. I thought that red carpet treatment was a nice touch. Unfortunately the model my husband and Bryan discussed didn't have the heated seats we wanted, but a quick check of inventory led us to my Kite Blue beauty. Before I left the car was given a wash and Michael went over the important safety features of my car. Keep in mind I'd gone from a 2006 nearly analog VW Beetle to a 2016 U.S.S. Enterprise gizmos and buttons tech. I have yet to find the time to come back for the "second date" appointment, but it's on my list! From start to finish Bryan was a joy to work with and he made the typically unsavory process of buying a car really pleasant thanks to his friendly, open, and down to earth approach. read more
