EAT Bistro is a solid Hong Kong style cafe on this side of the SGV. Their menu is so extensive. Each restaurant has their own style. The last time I ordered honey garlic pork chops here, they came out like big ribs. I could barely get meat because it was mostly fat. Also it took like 25 minutes to come out, so I had finished the other dishes already. I had to take the pork chops home. Baked bolognese is solid here. It comes with garlic bread. The restaurant is clean, unlike some other HK cafes. Also James Wang is not on their placemats. Service is a bit slow, but the servers speak English.

Location & Parking This is honestly one of the better Hong Kong-style cafés in the SGV. It's located inside "The Square" plaza at Garvey Ave & San Gabriel Blvd -- a super busy plaza with tons of shops and eateries, so you already know it's popular. Because of that, parking can be a little challenging during peak hours. If you come during breakfast or weekend brunch time, be prepared to circle a few laps before finding a spot. Breakfast & Food Quality Their breakfast menu is surprisingly extensive -- definitely more options than most cha chaan tengs around the area. Not only is there variety, but the overall taste and quality are noticeably better than many other HK cafés nearby. The food comes out fairly quickly despite how busy they usually are, and portions are satisfying. ‍ Service & Atmosphere Service here is good and attentive. Staff check on you regularly and keep things moving efficiently, which is necessary because the place is almost always packed. The only downside: it gets loud. With the constant crowd and table turnover, don't expect a quiet brunch spot -- this is more of a classic lively Hong Kong café vibe. Overall If you want a dependable cha chaan teng breakfast in SGV with solid food quality and lots of choices, this is definitely one of the safer picks. Just plan around parking and noise, and you'll have a good experience. Would I come back? Yes -- especially for breakfast.

Sadly not my favorite HK cafe experience. The borscht soup was really sweet. Same with the baked pork chop. Nice aspect about the baked pork chop that there was only one small bone. But again, way too sweet. Wonton noodles were fine,...mediocre. Service was surprisingly slow. Had to ask for the check and to go boxes at least three times. Took forever to order. The baked pork chop came out first, and I was done with eating 1/2-2/3 of the meal before the wonton noodles came out.... Ambiance is standard/ fine. Kind of uncomfortable chairs. Very atypical for a Hong Kong cafe. I've heard this experience was not normal from prior experience so I'm hoping it was an off day. Or maybe things have changed...

TL;DR: Food is ok for HK style cafe dining. Service is slow and needs customer-centered polish. Kitchen management of timing and prep is awful. We came here for lunch and they were transitioning from the breakfast menu to the regular menu. The regular menu had a lot of things so we didn't need breakfast sandwiches, or soups. Sat down at 12:10pm after 20 minute wait. The person who cleaned the table let it really wet. Like a lot of water wet that I had to use our napkins to dry it and it was still wet. The table Kiki at wasn't ready. As we were waiting for the waiter, we watched the same person clean the table next to us. He uses a spray bottle that has a light blue liquid so maybe diluted windex? He proceeded to spray it all over the table so we can feel it spray on us and it was obvious it was spraying people in the next table too. All other good restaurants have staff spray the liquid into the towel and then wipe the table. That's just bad management. We ordered soup noodles, chicken and pork chop combo, club sandwich and sizzling udon. The soup noodles came first then we waited. After about 7-10 minutes the club sandwich came. A full 15 minutes later the chicken pork chop combo came. So we are looking at around 25 minutes to get the third item. At 25 minutes after we ordered we asked the waiter to check on the sizzling udon. He came back a few minutes later and said they made the wrong dish, do we still want it? Do we want a dish we didn't order? Does that sound reasonable? No thanks we want what we ordered. The sizzling udon came finally came 50 minutes after we ordered. This is really bad kitchen management. Good doesn't come out for everyone at the same time. As it seems it can be 20-40 minutes difference between ordering and receiving your food. Food was ok just like any other HK style cafe. But the service and wait for the food is just bad. Would not recommend this place.

I needed some food late Friday night in Rosemead and stumbled across this Hong Kong-style restaurant. Prices were reasonable and the food was pretty decent overall. Service was a bit slow, I had to flag down staff each time I needed something, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. Indonesian Fried Rice with Fried Chicken - Pretty good but nothing too special. The portion was large, though, which helped. Overall, it felt average. (3.5/5) Combination Mixed Grill - For $26 and including steak, chicken, pork, and sausage, this felt like a great deal. Everything tasted good and the plate was packed. I'd definitely order this again. (4.5/5) Overall, the food was solid and the quantity for the price was absolutely worth it. We basically walked away with close to two meals for about $40. Parking: Large parking lot available, though I've seen it get busy in the mornings.

This's one of the cheapest western hOng Kong tr cafe food item on dinner menu plus I've lemon tea n house daily soup!! Only $19 in total included taxes n tips!!! It's a very economically out dining on dinner time in a cafe sat down restaurant!!!

I was recommended this place for baked pork chop rice and that is exactly what I ordered, along with a lemon iced tea. I went on a sunday night around 8pm so it wasn't too packed. They gave me a free tomato soup which had a lot of veggies inside. I havent had one of these since before COVID from any HK style cafe's so this was a plus. The baked pork chop rice was good but not what I was looking for. The sauce was more peppery than tomato tasting. The ratio of pork to fried rice was good but still missing carrots, mushrooms, and pineapple. I did like the baked pork chop being more flavorful than most places though. Added with a not so sweet lemon iced tea, I'd say it was better than I expected Overall, the food was above average but in the end still not what I was looking for. I have been on the hunt for a traditional HK style baked pork chop rice and still have yet to find one.

This is a local main stay for HK Cantonese breakfast combo specials! My family loves coming here for their breakfast items. The service here is ok because it's a typical Chinese type of restaurant. The ambiance and decor needs some updating but overall nothing special about it. This truly is what I would call an authentic no frills HK Cantonese cuisine kitchen. Their most popular dishes include their various types of congee paired with soy sauce pan fried egg noodles, steamed rice rolls or chinese donut. The special breakfast combo also includes a drink of choice between coffee, milk tea, black tea or my go to fav half tea half coffee "ying yang"! For the great value price of $13 - 15, tasty and fresh ingredients this spot is unbeatable in all of the SGV!

First time eating Hong Kong style breakfast and it did not disappoint !!! Macaroni + ham soup was defs my favorite, so simplistic yet tasty and perfectly cooked. Chicken was cooked so well, with the skin perfectly crispy and flavorful. Pineapple bun was so flaky and yummy (ty to the butter). OH and the milk tea + coffee filled me with enough energy for the entire day. Service was speedy and great. Ambiance is casual and efficient. Wld love to come back to experience dinner!

Ordered the Singapore-Style Vermicelli, Grilled Filet Sole, & Rib Eye Steak, and Seafood Udon with XO Sauce. Everything was flavorful and good. Our fav was the fish filet with the black pepper sauce and rice. It was very busy when we go there so the food took a while to be ready. Forgot to add drinks to our order, but will do that next time. Nice and good service.

This restaurant doesn't use MSG. They have a good selection of breakfast. They do not have dinner special. The best deal is their 2 items dinner combo. I like the filet mignon cubes and their black pepper sauce is the best. Not spicy and tasty. I also recommend the salt and pepper shrimp. Good price and big shrimp.

Possibly one of the worst Hong Kong cafe spots I've been to unfortunately. I had really high expectations since I heard many good things about this place but too bad it wasn't that great! Parking was ok but can be challenging since the cafe is inside a plaza and the parking is shared with other businesses and a Chinese supermarket Menu was ok and wasn't too expensive. They have breakfast and lunch specials Service was very disappointing. I realize it was busy but not only did they never check to see how my table was doing but it took a long time to even get the staff's attention so I could pay. Inside was pretty small and not much seating available. Breakfast specials are served daily 8:00am-11:30am There is an option of ~10 different porridges, an option of one side (5 side options), and either coffee or tea (+$1 for cold drinks). Pricing is $12-$13 for the breakfast combos Preserved Egg with Pork Porridge was so disappointing. The consistency was so thick that I felt like I was having oatmeal. There was hardly any pork or egg inside. It want too flavorful and it was possibly one of the worst porridges I've ever had. This was 3/10 The rice noodle with mixed sauce (side) was decent. The rice noodles were pretty soft, and fresh. The hoisin sauce and sesame sauce was very good. This was 8/10 Got another side of soy sauce chow mein ($4.95) and it was pretty flavorful. It was well seasoned and not too oily. This was 7/10 I most likely won't recommend or return unfortunately but I'm glad I tried it out so I know not to go there again

This time we sat outside and ordered the salted egg yolk fried chicken wings again because they were way too good on the first visit. Happy to say they were still a solid 10/10. Crispy, flavorful, and coated perfectly in that rich salted egg yolk sauce. Easily one of the best versions around. The highlight of the meal was definitely the beef brisket with rice noodle rolls. The brisket was super tender and juicy, and the brown sauce was chef's kiss. Not too salty, not too sweet, just packed with flavor and perfect for soaking into the fresh rice noodles. The rice noodle rolls had that soft chewy bounce that tastes freshly made in house. Easily a 9/10 dish for me. We also tried the spicy minced pork rice with a fried egg on top. It was decent, but honestly not as good as versions I've had at other spots. Still flavorful, but not something I'd specifically come back for. Probably a 7/10. For dessert, we ordered the pineapple bun and the peanut butter French toast and both were absolute fire. The pineapple bun was soft and buttery while the French toast was rich, crispy, and perfectly indulgent. Definitely recommend saving room for dessert because both were 10/10 and worth ordering again. The ambiance is your typical Asian cafe, nothing fancy, but the flavors are truly authentic Cantonese. Service was amazing and very attentive. Noise level was moderate, so we had no problem having a normal conversation while enjoying our food. Parking is honestly still a mess in that plaza since so many restaurants share the lot. Street parking is available, but not much, so be prepared to circle around a bit. Overall, Tam's continues to deliver on authentic Hong Kong cafe comfort food and I'll definitely keep coming back.

I came with a large group of 7 adults and 4 kids on a very busy night, with a crowd waiting outside the restaurant. Despite how packed it was, service moved steadily and dishes came out in a timely manner. Most of the food felt very homey -- the kind of comforting dishes that reminded me of meals my grandmother used to make. That first visit was pleasant enough that I decided to bring my dad back specifically to try their signature Vietnamese lobster dish. Unfortunately, the second visit turned out to be disappointing. We intentionally came for lunch to avoid the dinner rush and were seated within 5 minutes. The restaurant was only about 75% occupied. Drinks arrived quickly, and we ordered salt and pepper tiger shrimp, green beans, and the house special lobster with an extra order of e-mein noodles on the side. Our server briefly returned with a live lobster in a metal bowl, mumbled "4 pounds," and walked away. A few minutes later, the shrimp and green beans arrived along with rice. We ate, waited, and continued waiting. By the time we had completely finished the two dishes -- probably about 25 minutes later -- nobody had checked on us, updated us about the lobster dish, or even acknowledged the delay. We finally flagged down another staff member and asked for the check because at that point the lobster still had not arrived and we were ready to leave. We asked if the lobster could simply be removed from the bill, but were told it was already being prepared. Ironically, the lobster dish finally appeared moments later, the e-mein noodle followed a few minutes later. For what is marketed as their signature dish, the lobster itself was honestly not very memorable. The preparation with green onion and basil was interesting since it was our first time trying lobster this way, but neither the flavor nor the presentation justified the long wait (if that's what it was or just an oversight in the kitchen) or elevated expectations. What stood out more than the food was the lack of service and communication. Delays happen, especially at busy restaurants, but a quick check-in or update would have made a big difference. The restaurant also automatically adds a 12% service charge to the bill. While automatic gratuities are becoming more common, and in this case, I even added extra just to bring the tip up to 15%. With that expectation, there should also be a basic level of attentiveness and customer service. Overall, the food and service felt comparable to a typical Chinese comfort-food restaurant like Sam Woo, satisfying enough for a casual meal, but not particularly memorable considering the Michelin Guide recognition and pricing. Personally, the experience did not justify a return visit. I'd rather go to places like Lunasia or Kim Tar Seafood, where the overall experience feels more polished and consistent with the price point.

[Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are #1 Shrimp Har Gow, #6 Chicken Feet, #5 Spare Rib in Garlic Sauce, #3 Shrimp Shiu Mai, #31 Fried Sugar Cane Shrimp, #17 Shrimp Rice Roll, and #9 Steamed BBQ Pork Bun / #25 Baked BBQ Pork Bun. Tea = $1 per person. *** #1 Shrimp Har Gow ($7.70) & #3 Shrimp Shiu Mai ($7.70): All pieces were juicy and flavorful. #5 Spare Rib in Garlic Sauce ($7.70): A solid option with squash pieces. #6 Chicken Feet ($7.70): Amazing texture - the skin fell apart very easily. *** Overall the food was a bit expensive, but the quality was excellent and comparable to Lunasia. This is a great spot for people who don't care too much about certain amenities or somewhat hefty prices and simply want high-quality food (or consider the takeout option instead).

We come here for the low price wonton noodles, steamed spareribs on steamed rice, and the beef rice…read morenoodle rolls. We also order their HK style lemon iced tea. It's pretty good here and they have complimentary refills! They're known for their rice noodle rolls here and you can order them, along with their small dim sum menu, all day long. The wonton noodles here were just $13.98! They come with 5 large wontons and vegetables over wonton noodles. I always recommend adding chili oil. The steamed spareribs on steamed rice have some bones, just like the ones you find at dim sum. But there's a lot of meat in the steamed rice bowl for a single person. Free parking in rear parking lot. Entrance at the front on Garvey Ave. They have 2 entrances in front now. Left door for to-go orders and right door for dine-in.

Searched randomly in yelp and found this place and this was absolutely a great choice…read more Parking is at the back of the building which is shared with the other establishments. The staff are great, communication wise, it was a good service. They don't hover around your table. They let you eat in peace then check back every now and then. We ordered several dishes and each and every one of them were tasty. We came before lunch hour so not sure how busy this place gets. Are we going back? Absolutely! This is on my list to go especially for a weekend out.
