One of my favorite Hong Kong diners in SGV, this place brings good portions so far at good taste, and I love coming here for their breakfast menu ever since Ledos the old cafe before this management. It's hard to find parking sometimes, so better come here early to enjoy the breakfast items with a hot milk tea as well. The service sometimes can be hard to track down, but it just reminds me of plain old Hong Kong service. The ambiance matches the service as expected, but you're really here for the quick and comfort-style food they have here. It's always consistent, we ALWAYS have a ton of leftovers (don't order to-go without sitting don, just trust me on this one), and the flavors are amazing. My wife's family and I always get two different fried rice, one curry dish, and one extra meat dish. Definitely feeds a family of 4 for half a week! My favorite dish right now is the ox tail or ox tongue curry. Service: Now this is where the restaurant falls extremely short. They may be short-staffed? I'm not sure. Every single time we come, there is always some sort of issue. This most recent time, there's a whole line at the door and nobody is seating any of us. Maybe it's a self-sit situation? Because this has happened before. My go-to HK cafe! Been here plenty of times and food is always consistent and great. Good prices for a dish and come with a soup. Unlimited refills on select drinks. I usually get the HK milk tea or if I'm feeling something refreshing I'll get the HK lemon ice tea. I start off with the cream corn and ham soup. My favorite dish here is the chicken steak, usually comes with 1 and a half piece with corn, sauce, or pasta/rice. Last week, a couple of my coworkers and boss came here for dinner. My first time here and is pretty good. I didn't have to pay so it was even better lol. Boss paid. It was around 6 pm and customers were pouring in, it gets busy by 7 pm. I always like the beef udon noodles with black pepper and that's what I got. There were a couple of dishes were pretty good too, only one I didn't try because I can't really eat cheese, lactose intolerant. My boss knows I like shrimp so he ordered this dish, not really sure the name of it but it kinda looks like a honey walnut shrimp dish. I like it, the shrimp is big, crispy and not drenched with mayo. I also like the calamari with chicken wings, the calamari was just the right consistency, not too chewy and the seasoning was just perfect. The wings was nice too, a little crispy and seasoned well, both of them is a little spicy because of the jalapeño pepper, just so you know, but it goes together nicely. The beef udon noodles could use a little more black pepper, it was a little bland for my taste, I like it spicy lol. We also got the crispy seafood chow mein, I didn't try that either, I don't like the egg noodles. Every one like it so it must be good. There was also some kind of fry rice, I ate a little of it, is ok. Maybe is the long stem celery, I never liked it in fry rice. And the rice was kinda dry. The service was ok, we got to raise our hands to flag them down, maybe because it was busy. The corn soup stater was good, nice and creamy, we didn't get that until the middle of our meal, wouldn't you think they would bring that out first after your drink ? Maybe is different for them. Came here for breakfast with my friends and this is a great deal for the amount of food you get! I got the chicken steak with French toast and macaroni with ham. The chicken steak was delicious and tender. I just wish they offered the sauce that you normally get during lunch or dinner. Update: After over an hour we finally received our food. My theory is the kitchen did not fire our food until we physically arrived. Updating since my family and I still come here - except now we come more for breakfast! HK breakfast. The palce gets pretty crowded on a weekend morning and even weekday morning after 9am - prepare to wait for a table. All the Asian elders come here to have breakfast so you know it's good. Service can be a little hard to come by since they are so busy and usually understaffed but the workers do their best and I appreciate that. Hopefully others are as understanding - don't be in a rush when coming here unless you come at 8am. Like your typical HK breakfast place, meals come with coffee/ milk tea/ or lemon iced tea, etc. My mom usually gets a porridge with coffee milk tea. Formerly Lido Cafe, the menu hasn't changed at all. It's still great BK style food, in a crowded and loud environment that is somehow cozy and familiar. Service staff here are terse and sharp in taking your order. Don't ask what's good, they don't know what you like and don't care. The truth is, most legit Chinese eateries are like this. I've come to expect it. For food, the Pork Chops are my wife's go to. They're fried perfectly. Not too dry, and just enough fat left on it to make it outstanding. With a side of buttered corn off the cob, and either white rice or spaghetti, it's easily one of the best dishes. Get it with the spicy garlic sauce. It's got some heat, some tang, and a lot of hearty flavor. I'll occasionally get the Chicken Ala King. It's a comfort food for me. Served with white rice, I add a bunch of tobasco sauce to my serving to counteract the richness. Also great is the baked pork hop or filet mignon over rice with tomato sauce. It's official: EAT Bistro is my new favorite Hong Kong-style cafe in all of SGV! I've been eating at HK cafes for a long, long time and have done all the classics: Garden Cafe, JJ Cafe, Baccali, ABC Cafe, U2 Cafe, HK Cafe, Sunday Bistro, and all the different Delicious Food Corners. For a while Alice's Kitchen in Monterey Park has been my fave, but as often happens in SGV, chefs moving on and switches in management cause former favorites to diminish in ways that sometimes make them completely unrecognizable. I'm not going to say that's completely true for Alice's Kitchen, but it doesn't quite resemble the place I once knew and loved. Enter EAT Bistro: located in the seemingly forever rundown The Square Plaza in Rosemead, where the GW Supermarket is probably the most consistent landmark there, EAT Bistro replaced the Ledo Cafe. I am normally never in this part of Rosemead so I was surprised to hear from multiple people that this was their new favorite when it comes to Hong Kong-style cafe food. For me, the beauty in HK cafes lie in the variety of food, the affordable prices, and the late hours. While EAT Bistro closes at 10 pm every night as of this writing, it has the first two criteria down pat. Dining in with a group of 8 people, we got the Special Combo Grilled Chicken Steak with Filet Mignon ($17.50), Dry-style Beef Chow Fun ($13.50), Fish Filet with Sweet Corn Sauce ($14.95), and Sweet & Sour Pork ($13.95). It was a group of folks (mainly girls) who have mostly never really had HK cafe food, so we went with the waiter's top recommendations and a few Hong Kong cafe classics. Each dish came with a bowl of steamed rice, and the Special Combo allowed you a choice of either steamed rice or pasta with corn and black pepper sauce on the side. Having lived and loved the HK cafe life since high school, I must say, everything tasted delicious. The filet mignon was perfectly medium rare, the chicken steak was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the sweet corn sauce complemented the starchy fried fish, the sweet and sour pork was syrupy sweet, and the chow fun had a bold flavor of wok hei char. On top of all that, the food was very filling... which was annoying for the girls in the group but suited the men just fine. Best of all? The PRICE. For 4 dishes it all came out to $75 WITH TAX AND TIP! In today's economy, that's a bargain... especially when you're feeding 8 people! I know depending on where you're coming from EAT Bistro can be a trek, but if you can make it in before they close at 10 pm, affordable and tasty delights are to be had here. I came here in the summer with my bff before a movie. I am giving a 4 star because the food was very satisfying. The parking was easy, because it is in the big plaza. Because there were so many people, the servers didn't really have a chance to refill the tea, and the food came out at different speeds. Macaroni Pasta in Soup (Spam, macaroni, light chicken broth, with 2 scrambled eggs): Spam was very crispy even while it was in the broth, pasta was cooked well, and chicken broth is going to be on the lighter savory side since this is a Hong Kong styled cafe. This dish is usually ordered for brunch/breakfast, but can still be served during dinner. Rib Eye Steak (medium rare) with 2 eggs (sunny side up) with choice of Black Pepper Sauce: Steak was cooked well enough that you don't need to dip it with the sauce. On holiday this place is packed, the waiters were so busy on their job, it's not easy to get more service after you ordered. I was able to get a refill on my hot milk tea after I spot the bartender who makes the drinks. The hot milk tea was good. Most of the dishes we ordered came out fairly quickly, they give your free soups which is great. The price on the food are of great deal with large portions. Parking in the plaza is hard to find a space on a busy holiday. The wait was about 50 minutes before we were seated. It's been a long time since I've eaten at a Hong Kong-style cafe but one of my friends wanted to come here and have dinner in Rosemead so we decided to try out EAT Bistro which is right on the corner of Garvey and San Gabriel. The inside has some tables and chairs and also a few booth tables as well. They do have baby seats which you can request from the server. For our appetizer, we had deep-fried chicken wings and calamari with the seasoning on it. I like the chicken wings more and probably would just order that one. The baked bolognese with spaghetti is a huge portion that I didn't finish. Also, we ended up getting a chicken steak and filet mignon which was pretty good! I've been coming here on and off for years, even before they were named EAT Bistro. Mostly out of habit, convenience, and proximity than any real craving. It's the kind of place that gets the job done when you want an affordable meal and aren't in the mood to think too hard about it. I've tried a good chunk of the menu over time, and the experience is consistent. Sometimes in a comforting way, other times in a "yep, still mid" kind of way. The chicken steak combos are serviceable, the macaroni soups do what they need to, and the drinks are.. included. The space gets loud, the service is fast but rushed (understandably), and the food usually arrives quickly, which is probably the main draw. You won't leave hungry. You also won't leave thinking, "Wow, that was worth going out of my way for." Still, if you're local or just need a casual meal that won't break the bank, this place holds up. I met some locals and in my usual fashion I asked, "what is your favorite restaurant?" He asked me if I liked Cantonese and I said, "yes!" He told me that he has been getting the lunch combos at this Hong Kong-style cafe in Rosemead. After perusing the extensive food and beverage menu including an Italian section, there seems to be something for everyone. Based on the local's recommendation, I went with the (dinner) combo. You can choose between their grilled chicken steak or filet of sole. After you choose between chicken or fish, you can also add (beef) steak, fish, scallop, mussels, or shrimp. The combo came with some sort of ham? chowder. You also choose two gravy / sauces on the side and corn. I told him to pick for me. The chicken skin on the grilled chicken steak was thin and crispy reminiscent of broasted chicken. The meat is juicy and flavorful. The fish was lightly breaded, pan fried, and delicious as well. The service was not super attentive, but prompt when setting your place mat and fork upon arrival and efficient when ordering to drop off. They don't come back to check on you, but if you need something you can call their attention and seem to be quick to respond. With the downfall of all other HK style cafe, this one really held up to it. It was really busy during a Sunday brunch hour. I really love they kept a lot of the previous owner items on the menu to give it that new but not completely new touch. I've eaten many many many a hong style cafe in the San Gabriel area and I'd say this one is my top choice. It's very much a no fuss no frills place is the best way. They aren't trying to bring you in with cool neon signs or decor. They aren't trying to get you to write reviews or rate them highly. There are several tvs inside with a few booths and honestly chairs that look like they belong outside. It's a bit outdated. The staff is friendly if you're a regular and they're pretty friendly if you're new there. But as they're also all Asian waiters service can be bad at times. For me what matters is the food. The menu is huge and there's something for everyone. You want the obligatory chicken steak. They have it. Seafood chow mein. Check. Baked sole fillet. Done. All with a lemon iced tea. There's so many things on the menu and so many are cooked and seasoned pretty well. The portions are huge and amazingly cheap. You're generally in the ball park of $11-$15 and a lot of the dishes come with a side of rice. You also get complimentary soup. Obviously with all the people eating and all the orders coming out, sometimes it's a miss. Things can need salt but if I wanted perfection I'd be somewhere else paying 4-5 times more. Boy, first thing I noticed is how freaking loud this place is. It is LOUD. The dishes clanging, the voices chatting, the baby crying. I had to ask to change tables as I was overstimulated. Most dishes come with complimentary soup. You get a choice of Borscht Vegetable or Cream Corn. I like both. We ordered Minced Beef Rice and Fried Chicken. Both were good, not mind blowingly, but it's solid Hong Kong Cafe type food. Service was good. Food came promptly. Drinks were provided. Service was easy to flag down. read more

Been coming here for over 20 years back when it was LEDO Cafe. Lots of good items and portions are pretty big. My go-tos are still the special combination with filet mignon and chicken steak, baked port chop and spaghetti with meat sauce. Love their cream and vegetable soups too. read more
