Stopped into Churchill's for a late lunch on a Thursday. While the bar area was buzzing, the dining…read moreroom was quiet and empty. We opted for the dining room, which has a cool, broody, tavern-like vibe with nice wood accents. Service was absolutely stellar. I asked to substitute a side that wasn't officially an option, and our waiter went out of his way to check with the kitchen and make it happen. Much appreciated! For appetizers, the mac and cheese was served hot and fresh with a great breadcrumb topping, and the pretzels were pure perfection--the accompanying cheese cup and fabulous mustard were a huge hit. For our mains, we ordered black bean patties, a burger, and a salad topped with grilled chicken. Zero complaints across the board. The burger and veggie patties were massive--plenty big enough to take half home for later--and came with a side of perfectly salted, thick-cut fries. Best of all, we never felt rushed or bombarded by our waiter, which is truly becoming a lost art. Highly recommend!

My wife is blond and my hair is as white as the driven snow. I showed it to the waiter. He presented us with a $20.00 gift card. A few weeks later we went again. My wife had a chicken cob salad and she liked it. I ordered the Reuben Sandwich. The bread was stale, the meat was overcooked and dry and one side of the bread was burned black. The fries were pretty good. There was no reason to tell them about it. Another gift card does me absolutely no good because I won't be back. Great service requires great food and cleanliness. 1 outta 3 just don't cut it.

They opened early to accommodate me and had the order prepared so it was 100% perfect! The owners, Kathleen and Naill were outstanding, friendly, professional and generally awesome. We ordered 7 meals and each needed some special tweak... NO PROBLEM. From salads, to salmon dinner and burgers and wings, each item was great. The flavor and selection were wonderful. All were served flavorful and tasty. Everyone enjoyed their food. I found this place by sheer accident but the friendliness and caring nature will have us coming back. THANK YOU.

It was a very cozy and inviting place, and by cozy I am not referring to size. We were served a basket of raisin bread as well as Irish soda bread which were good. I ordered the Tuscan chicken salad: a large chicken breast covered in delicious melted mozzarella, tomatoes, onions and balsamic, and served over ton of arugula. It was delicious and I had plenty to take home. My husband had the chicken pot pie which he found to be excellent: a large portion as well, with a light and airy crust and filled with a tasty sauce, vegetables and chicken. No leftovers there! No room for dessert or coffee sadly; the menu looked great.

I have ordered takeout before but today I just needed a moment to sit and enjoy something comforting . This place and the chowder did the trick. The place has been around since the 30's so that says a lot. They do have tables outdoor under a tent but I love the nostalgic vibe of the inside counter with the little stools. You can watch them fry up all the goodies. I was immediately greeted, sat and my beautiful bowl of chowder came. The service is endearing and though my first time dining in, they treated me like I was a regular and they do with everyone. Maybe that's why they have been around so long. Good food is great but service that makes you feel like you are a regular is top tier. As The clouds rolled in the thunder struck and as the rain poured down, I enjoyed my lovely bowl of New England clam chowder. They are heavy on the fresh clams and just right on the potatoes. They do have the red chowder and their Long Island version which is a mix of the 2. This just hit the spot all around and on a day like I was having today, filled my soul. I'll BE BAck for the good fried goodies next time. Thank you!

As someone who isn't the biggest fan of tomato based soups, but doesn't always want the heaviness of a cream based soup, this is the best of both worlds. Its flavor was rich yet balanced. The cream brought a smooth, velvety body and subtle sweetness, while the tomato added a bright acidity and savory depth. Potatoes provided gentle heft and earthy comfort, while onions, celery, and herbs built a layered, homey backbone. There was a good amount of tender clams, with natural sweetness that tied everything together. We also got an order or mini crab cakes. The exterior was golden fried, with a nice crunch. The interior was more crab than filler, with enough structure that it held together. It was simply seasoned, supporting the crab instead of overshadowing it. The horseradish Dijon sauce was more Dijon than horseradish. It brought a gentle tang and little bite to add a depth of flavor to the crab cake. Also of note, when you sit down they bring tartar sauce and cocktail sauce to your table. Both sauces were honestly the best of their kind that I can remember having in a very long time. I couldn't even tell you what made them so amazing, but I must have commented at least 7 times about how good they were. There's a reason Bigelow's has been around for almost 90 years. It's a simple spot, with old school charm, that knows a good thing when it's got it, and doesn't mess with perfection. It just continues to serve up consistently good fried seafood (with a few grilled options so you can drag your health conscious friends and they'll find something too).
