We ordered: - Organic Scrambles #3 (Scrambled Organic Eggs, Organic Wild Mushrooms, Shallots, Crème Fraîche, Chives) - The scrambled eggs were good and not mushy at all. The creaminess of the crème fraîche worked well with the mushrooms and chives. - Three Stack Apple Pancakes - This was delicious! I loved the grated apples in the pancakes. It was a solid pancake. Lots of delicious duck pieces. The only draw back for me was that the melted cheese was out of place. I don't know if it is traditional or not. Assam Aubergine Malay 5*, $21.99 Grilled Chinese eggplant topped with hot-and-sour tamarind sauce. This was excellent. I think it was grilled because there was a great smoky background note. Crispy Tofu 5* , $17.99 crispy tofu, Shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and scallion sauce. Our favorite of the lunch. Very earthy, but a bit sweet and salty. Flavor combination that's unique and difficult to describe. The kitchen's timing was a little off, so sometimes they were slow and sometimes fast, but they're just getting their sea legs and we weren't in a hurry. All the servers were very pleasant and the owner came out to talk to us. Menlo Park is a good halfway point for me to meet people from the South Bay. We will be back. The fantastic hostess, who buzzed around checking on tables, helping mix drinks, keeping things moving, let us know a couple of seats were about to open at the bar and took our drink orders. She then ver gracefully steered the douche-presenting group of six who blazed past the hostess desk and took those bar seats back to the front. Gold star service all while looking cool and friendly. Food: the angry people said nothing notable. The bartender recommended the rockfish. The grits did add a great texture like he said, and the red sauce was awesome. My partner had the branzino with the sauce recommended by the same bartender. I dunno maybe it's me. But I feel like service should be based on whether you trust the recommendations because the vibe feels like people you trust. Five stars on everyone we talked to and on their recommendations. We requested outdoor seating but there were so many bugs outside that it went inside our drinks many times. I am a bit surprised that Menlo Park isn't clean and especially in the winter. This might mean they don't clean their outdoor area and the kitchen might not be as clean either.

I want to specifically praise Ricardo for his excellent customer service during my visit yesterday…read more While I wasn't entirely satisfied with the food quality (my salad was extremely salty and not as fresh as I'd hoped), Ricardo handled my concern with professionalism and care. When I mentioned the issues with my salad, Ricardo readily accepted it and offered to give me credit for it. He explained that the gift card machines weren't working at the time, but he personally committed to calling me as soon as they were available so I could receive my credit. I appreciated that he accepted the salad back even though I sensed he wasn't completely happy with my request -- he still treated me respectfully and genuinely tried to make things right. This is the kind of customer service that keeps me coming back. Ricardo represents what makes Mademoiselle Colette special, and I hope management recognizes his dedication to handling difficult situations with grace. We weren't sure if it would be enough food, but it ended up being a perfect amount (perhaps because I was pregnant and there wasn't much more room in my belly haha). My husband started off with the wagyu beef tartare tartlet, which he enjoyed. For our four shared dishes, we got: 1. Scallion Croissant: This one was my fav! Recommend eating it all fresh while the texture stays crisp on the outside. The rou song (meat floss) flavor from the butter didn't come out as much as I'd like it to but I still enjoyed the Asian twist to the croissant. 2. Yeobo, Darling Chicken Wings: It didn't feel very special, but I'm always down for chicken wings. Could've been more tender. I enjoyed the shishito peppers that come with it. 3. Lu Rou Lasagna: A fusion of two things I really love! Lu Rou is slow braised minced pork belly. I forgot what the green "pasta" is made out of, but it was tasty. I had to get the chili oil on the side (due to my husband's spice intolerance). Not sure how it would have been with the chili oil incorporated into the dish, but I didn't think the chili oil added much. I bet Lao Gan Ma (chili crisp + chili oil) would've been superb with it. 4. Chilled Perilla Somyun: This was a refreshing dish, which helped balance out the other heavier dishes. I wasn't super wowed at first bite, but enjoyed it more and more with each new bite. I wanted to try the Wagyu Kalbi, but the price point is more than what I'm comfortable with. We opted out of dessert, but were pleasantly surprised when they brought out a small dessert for our anniversary. It was some sort of roll with chocolate over it, yum! Service was great. I appreciate that they inquire about food allergies prior to ordering. Throughout the meal, they always made sure our water cups were filled. The food itself doesn't necessarily make me want to come back a second time, but it was great as a one time date night spot!
