This little place is quickly becoming our new favorite for a home cooked meal. I personally haven't gotten past the BBQ sandwich these past two visits. I think their BBQ beans are the best I've ever eaten and the fries are fresh cut and fried. Both of my husband's chicken dishes - the Fried chicken and the Jerk chicken he has thoroughly enjoyed. I will say that I have only seen dark meat and that may be all that is offered. The fried chicken he said was cooked to perfection. We've been to Bristol dozens of times and have probably walked by this place as many times. Decided to make a trip over after some shopping at the pinnacle. All the reviews were right. The food was great. I had the meatloaf because you always have to try the meatloaf! Also had a few ribs to try them out. Other folks I was with had the brisket and jerk chicken. Picked this because it got good reviews and well it more than lived up to them. Got the Jamaican Jerk Chicken with fries, mac & cheese, and cornbread. The chicken was amazing and fell right off the bone. It was cooked perfectly. The spices for the chicken added great flavor. The sides: The fries were big old slices of potatoes that must have been cut in the back. Seen fries like this in one or two other restaurants. The cornbread was solid, could and did eat it without butter. The Mac and Cheese was good. IMO the only low and I'm just looking for something to complain about. Service: Solid. Friendly staff and I believe the owner came over and thanked us for coming. The cost: Peanuts IMO. If I got a meal like this in NY, I'd easily be paying 20+. The meal came to 9.95 (I had water for my beverage) and I left full and happy and amazed at this find. If I am ever in Bristol again, I'm going back. read more

Their rib rub is to die for, their spicy BBQ sauce needs to be bottled and sold (I will buy it all), and oh my goodness their banana pudding is the BEST I've ever had and that means something (I love banana pudding). We were recommended to eat here by Lost State Distilling (new distillery in Bristol adjacent to the Bristol sign) and I am so thankful they we took their recommendation. read more

Our first time here. What a treat. I had the meatloaf and collared greens. Just like my maw maw used to make. Wife had the dries catfish and it was good too. Our only complaint is that our waiter failed to mention the off menu special which was barbecued ribs. We had just talked about some good barbecue so at least one of us would have likely tried those. The staff were very nice. The meatloaf was horrid - unfortunately, it was very bland, sort of mealy and the grease just kept leaking out and flooding the plate. The beans were unassuming, corn tasted as though it was canned. Mashed potatoes seemed instant. Blackberry cobbler was odd - it had what seemed to be raw pie dough sheets set on top of it - definitely not cobbler that had batter or biscuits. It wouldn't have been too bad had the pie dough actually been cooked. In addition, it seemed like the blackberry was actually the frozen triple berry blend that they sell at Sam's in the frozen section. Although the previous reviews were positive, I wouldn't recommend Eatz under any circumstances. The worst part was that it was a chilly day and apparently they didn't want to run the exhaust fans. About two minutes after getting there, both my husband and I were struck by the smell of old, fishy oil in the air. When we left, we went home to change - our jackets and shirts were reeking just from being hung on the chairs. When we walked in the door of our house, two of our kids asked why we smelled so weird - just confirmation it wasn't something we imagined. read more

I have found a new favorite place for a home cooked meal. As you walk in you feel welcome. I assume that it was the owner, came over to our table, asked how we were... if it was our first time and hoped that we would enjoy everything. Its a small place so I am sure there are times that you will have to wait. The meals come with a main course and two homemade sides. At our table there were two catfish plates ordered and I had the Jamaican Jerk Chicken along with black beans and Cole slaw. The other sides ordered were corn, Mac and cheese, collard greens, and mashed potatoes. We all tried each others to see what we might order the next time. Eatz on Moore street is worth finding. The food is outstanding. I had the pulled pork BBQ, mashed potatoes, corn, greens, baked beans, and corn bread. Everything I ate tasted like it came out of a grandmother's kitchen. The place is small but cozy which just adds to the at home feel. The staff make you feel very welcome. If you are looking for home cooking at a great price this is the place for you. I can't wait to try their fried catfish. It is locally owned so Bristol let's support one of our own. We were not disappointed. We had the fried catfish with collard greens, cornbread and macaroni and cheese. All were home cooked and all were excellent. Southern hospitality with room for improvement in the food. The service was great and the server was really friendly. They seemed to have a local following and he knew their names and orders. My fried chicken was seasoned well, but unfortunately my sides tasted as if they were straight out of the can with no seasoning. My husband's jerk chicken was room temperature and he said it tasted as if it had been sitting there since lunch. He said the mac & cheese was good but nothing special. He did enjoy the beans and said they were flavored well. All in all, it was just okay. Went there with my family and we had a good mix of different items and they were all excellent. We did not have the bbq and the owner Mark brought us out a sample and it gave me at least some order envy. We had the chocolate cake at the end and it was out of this world. I got the half rack of ribs and it was so tender and flavorful; the green beans and Mac n cheese were a perfect pairing alongside. We are from N W Georgia. I asked locals where a good place to eat was around Bristol. Preferably not a chain but some locally own restaurants. They all said "Eatz" in downtown Bristol. I asked my son in-law if he had ever heard of Eatz. He corrected me and said that it was Fatz. I said ok. Not knowing that there's both places. Fatz ... and Eatz. Oh my word. Wonderful food. Fried cat fish that's so good, Mac & cheese, slaw, baked beans, fried fricking delicious chicken! So good!!! Not a chain restaurant but a family owned. If someone complains about taking awhile to get good food...well they cook it when it's ordered. You can't tell me that chicken and fish we ordered had been sitting under a heat lamp. I tell you I would give them 10 stars if I could. Now don't get the restaurant mixed up like I almost did... you want to go to EATZ! read more
