Stopped by with the Arizona Pizza Lovers Facebook group and found a real gem! I ordered the Original Philly Cheesesteak with a side of fries, and it did not disappoint. The steak was sliced thin, packed with flavor, and cooked perfectly. As a bonus, the owner brought our table some samples of his brisket, and wow--some of the best brisket I've had in a long time. Tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor. Great food, great hospitality, and definitely worth the visit!

Amazing cheesesteaks. High quality beef for sure! Bread is solid! The owner is an absolute joy! Best Philly in AZ! Oh and the brisket might be the best here too!

Tasty Kake Kandy Cake with coconut flakes. Only found in Philadelphia Pa and South New Jersey. Have lots of other to choose from there.

Philly Pretzels outstanding. Also ask them in advance. Get them fresh from the east coast. great food quality at a great place.

    Giardiniera. Likely home canned too.

Well this is a very pleasant surprise and a little disappointing as well. Hurray for another steak sandwich place. Sad the place that used to be here is now gone . But here we are, and they have cheesesteaks. And they're good. Lotsa conversation from the owner/cook with customers. He's quite friendly and welcoming, most times. What I've heard most is about the quality of product used. Downside, they take way too long. On this occasion, ordered at 6:52 p.m., it's 7:28 and we are still waiting for our food. The place closes at 8:00 p.m When the food is brought to our table the Mozzarella is warm, not hot. I will say our sandwiches are hot. Generally good food. Time it takes from order to delivery of food varies. greatly. If you're prepared to wait you will not be disappointed. Hopefully he'll hire some additional staff to help crank out those tasty items, quicker.

This was the sweet pepper half of my footlong cheesesteak.

Well I have been craving a good cheesesteak sandwich, and from the pictures and reviews I thought I found the place. I ordered a 12" half hot pepper and half sweet pepper sandwich, but sadly when I got home I only found the sweet pepper half of my cheesesteak. That half was supposed to be for my mom, because she had ever had a cheesesteak sandwich before. I also ordered a corned beef sandwich to share, a pound of their smoked briske, and an order of onion rings. About $67 worth. The restaurant is a typical stripmall small establishment. Lots of Philly memorabilia and several small tables. The guy taking orders didn't listen very well, because I had to repeat my order several times, but he finally got things correct. When I asked about the brisket Eddie came up to tell me about how he cooks them. He's very proud of his work, and he's creative with his recipes. He puts orange juice on his smoking wood, and I can taste the acrid smoke in the meat. Using wood that is soaked in anything but alcohol will produce a much stronger and much more acrid smoke. I used to do this when I first started using my smokin-it smoker 20 years ago. I always soaked my wood chips for use on my grill, and I thought that's what you do. WRONG! You don't want extra moisture in a smoker. Free smoking tip... So the corned beef sandwich was pretty good. It was loaded with meat that was thinly sliced and very lean as it should be. The russian dressing used was not too sweet or excessive, and it had good flavor. The bread was a little mushy from the dressing, and from being put in a plastic box for 5 minutes on the drive home. The rye bread was a little on the thin side for such a big sandwich. It was the star of the day. Their signature cheesesteak minus the red sauce lacked much flavor. The cheese was almost invisible, and the meat seems to be the frozen sheets of very thin meat many places use now. It's a processed product that lacks real steak flavor and juice. Nobody shaves their own meat anymore. My mom wasn't impressed with the onion rings, and I tried one and I would agree. Way more batter than onion. I just finished making the brisket into sandwiches today for lunch. When I opened the package it seemed to be short in quantity so I put it on a scale and found that it was only 14 oz including the 1 oz of package. So I was short almost 1/4 of the pound of brisket. If you are selling a product by weight then it should be put on a scale, and clearly that was not done. It's one thing to forget putting an item in my bag, but it's another thing to short the weight of a product. That's NOT an accident! The food here was not bad, but it was not great either, and it's not anything to go out of your way to get in my opinion.

Outstanding cheese steak sandwich with really good onion rings!

Oh my goodness!! I've been wanting to try Eddie's for a while . We finally got the chance today for lunch since we were out running errands. It was busy, & it's not a very big place, but it didn't take long to get our food. We both got the 8" cheese steak with mushroom, onion, extra cheese & ranch. Yes, we like ranch on our Philly sandwiches. Hubby added jalapeños. We shared an order of onion rings & a large drink. They were the best cheese steak sandwiches we have ever had! They were phenomenal! Eddie's has ruined Philly's for any other place. The onion rings were excellent too! They were crispy & not greasy at all. I could only eat half of my sandwich. I can't wait to eat the other half. It's about 20 minutes from our house & worth every minute! Staff are nice, friendly & helpful. This is the only place we will go for cheese steak sandwiches. They have lots of different food items, but it would be hard for us not to get the Philly.

Top: Eddie's, Middle: Philly's Famous, Bottom: Forefathers
    Michael S.

Today I did a cheesesteak crawl--Eddie's, Philly's Famous, and Forefathers--to see who really has the best in town. I ordered a classic wiz wit at each spot. Forefathers didn't hold up against the other two. It wasn't even close. The competition really came down to Eddie's vs. Philly's Famous. Both were solid, but Eddie's edged it out. Every bite was balanced, with the steak, onions, and cheese all coming through clearly. Philly's Famous was still very good, but I felt the cheese didn't stand out as much. You can't go wrong with either one, but my vote goes to Eddie's.

OH MY PHILLY CHEESESTEAK GOODNESS! Yes, it's in all caps and fully spelled out because it's worth the time to stop in and enjoy the BEST cheesesteak in the valley! What Eddie (and his family) cook up is nothing short of exceptional! From the juiciest meat, sweet peppers and cheese, everything is top quality delicious! But.... what really makes this sandwich so special and delicious is his bread! It 100% steals the show and pushes this sandwich into the extraordinary category! Light and airy, the bread does not get soggy yet remains crisp the whole time! The sandwich is deliciously satisfying without that heavy belly, I've just swallowed a brick feeling. Even more, the bread is soft to bite and it does not destroy the top of your mouth with dried out shards of crust just waiting stab your gums and mouth keeping your dentist employed from the mouth trauma. Not only is this sandwich DELICIOUS, it comes out so hot and steamy that you can peruse the love of all things Philadelphia on the walls! Once you can eat it, there is no need to feel rushed as the other half of your sandwich will stay warm because it is served piping hot! Eddie has the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich figured out! If supporting local small business is your thing or just enjoying a great sandwich with your pals in a no frills kind of way, Eddie's has you! It's just sad his taste in sports teams is so bad! But, that's okay.... nobody's perfect!

A small shop with very good subs! The owner is very friendly and kind as well. I tried the Philly cheese steak with mushroom and peppers, brisket sub, and the Italian beef. The Philly cheese steak was very good, I might want a little bit of extra red sauce on it, but it's a very good cheese steak as a base. The brisket sub was phenomenal with very tender and juicy brisket. The dipping sauce gives a barbecue and smoky flavor that goes well with the meat. The Italian beef was good but I think the au jus was a tad bit salty so I couldn't dip it as much as I wanted to. I definitely would come back to try their other offerings. Tad bit on the pricey side with average price of $15 per 12" sub but I'd say the quality shows.

Well well well, you can always count on fellow Yelp reviewers for places to eat.. I wanted something quick and I was close by so I decided to give this place a try. I'm no Philly steak expert but I was at one time in search of best steak sandwich. Unfortunately lot of cheese steak places uses the same meat from Vienna company. Walking in and seeing sign that said Von Hanson was a good sign. Nice little place with friendly staff greeting you. Decided to try #4 which came with cheese Wiz.. Initially I thought $15 for 12 inch was bit pricey but heck it was worth it. Bread was pretty bomb, soft, chewy held up the cheese and meat. It tasted fresh and for me bread is very important.. You can have the best meat in the world but if bread sucks so does sandwich.. Meat was flavorful and cheese Wiz was a nice touch. Little reminder though, the cheese was pretty darn hot right after it came out, so I burnt little bit on top of my mouth.. . That's what I get for taking a big bite. Over all I would say this is the best Philly steak sandwich I have ever had. You can taste the love and quality of the food. I can't wait to come back and try other stuff.

Large Cheesesteak... so large that I shared with my wife!

Great food, wonderful service! They take great pride in providing a tasty sandwich! I'm from the Philly area and think this was well worth the drive. I really enjoyed it! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

I was looking for a new sandwich shop around my work and found this place on Yelp and needed to give it a try. The shopping center is probably less busy than most as there's no staple store in here. However, I think Eddie's will be that new draw to this corner! I was instantly and warmly greeted when I entered. Everyone was very friendly and I got to talk to the cook for awhile about his roots and his food...he was very passionate about everything which is great to see. The interior has a few Philly decorations on the wall and it looks to be a little bit of a work-in-progress. I really wanted to try a cheesesteak but with my newer beef intolerance I decided to purchase the Italian hoagie with a side of fries. They have a wall of chips to choose from lesser-known brands- Utz, Herr's and more if you're looking a save a few dollars. The sandwich came open-faced on an authentic Philly hoagie roll. It looked fantastic and tasted just as good as it looked. The bread was lightly toasted where it still folded over without crumbling. All of the ingredients were top quality! The meats and cheeses were plentiful but not over-piled where you lost the balance of everything else. The dressing was homemade and perfect- a little zip and flavor that didn't steal from the rest of the sandwich. Good tomatoes and bright green romaine. A+ sandwich. The fries were great too- a little crispy on the outside with softness inside. They add a seasoning that's not too salty and gives good flavor. The only drawback is the fries didn't last too long...could have gone for another tray of them! Thanks everyone working here for the excellent experience!

If you love cheesesteaks, you must stop here at Eddie's. These are probably one of the best cheesesteaks that I've ever had. Everything from the start of the crispy nice fluffy buns to the nice moisture of the meat and every ingredient that comes with it is truly a work of art. Eddie takes pride in his cheesesteaks, and you can really tell by the way he shows his devotion to having the best cheesecakes here in Arizona. Both the buffalo chicken and Eddie special cheesesteak were a 10 out of 10. If you love, cheesecakes, come and check out Eddie's for your desserts your chips, your cheesesteaks a little bit of everything

I was super stoked to check a place with "retro" in the name out, and I gotta be honest here, I left with pretty mixed emotions about a lot of things. The restaurant itself is pretty boring inside, mostly just being black with a few small pictures hanging up. I was kind of expecting big retro movie posters or something hanging around, but I definitely didn't get much of a retro vibe from this place minus a small neon "bar" sign and a claw machine in the corner. The menus were very cool, right by the front door its a record shelf and the records were the menus, so thumbs up for that idea. I thought i was mistaken, but I don't remember seeing sandwich prices on the actual menu, but as I look at other photos on yelp it does appear that the sandwiches don't have prices attached to them, which explains why I was thrown off by the end price. I settled on ordering the "take on me" which was black forest ham, roasted turkey, hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and mayo on a Hawaiian style roll. I also ordered a sprite and a chocolate chip cookie as a side. The chocolate chip cookie was okay, pretty standard cookie though definitely not worth $3.75. The sprite was $2.99, and the sandwich came to $15.58. I was also charged $0.96 for something called the advantage program which I have no idea what that is. I gotta say, spending over $25 on a sandwich, a small cookie, and a drink is not something I would care to do at a place like this. The sandwich itself was very good, I won't deny that. The meat tasted fresh, and when it was all together it was definitely a good sandwich, but when there's not combo option and a basic sandwich, cookie, and drink ends up being $25 it's gonna be a no from me on returning in the future. Overall, I really wanted to love this place for the name, but the lack of much decorations and prices left something to be desired. The food itself was good, but not worth what was spent.

I chose fattier brisket, pastrami and ribs plus two sides. This came out to ~$36 each. Total bill for the two of us was over $100 by adding drink, cookie, tax and tip. My uncle got kielbasa, brisket and pastrami. Our guess is that the food is brought in sealed and they microwave or use some similar reheat method and do no "cooking" there. All of my meats were beyond dry. It's really hard to convey how dry. The ribs were the biggest terror point since not only was it as tough as leather but it tasted like it was doused in iodized salt. My uncle's plate was not any better. The kielbasa was sliced and overcooked so badly that the sliced edges were burnt and frayed - you've got to really try hard to screw up preserved sausage. I could only do a few bites and threw it all in the trash. They were getting busy and I was not going to stand back in line with trays of food to broach the problems. They make sure to ask for a tip at time of order but there's no service for quality control. My uncle texted me later in the day: "Today's restaurant was such an awful choice for BarBQ. I can't remember when I had worse. We have to go to a real good one next time." It is crazy how bad this lunch experience was and a rarity that Yelps score misses the mark so badly.

I ordered a Caramel Macchiato, my absolute favorite, and as always, it was perfectly balanced and delicious. The shop is open from Sunday to Wednesday but closes Thursday to Saturday due to church events. It's also a popular venue for weddings and large gatherings. If you're looking for a cozy spot for a special occasion or just a peaceful coffee break, this place is definitely worth checking out. As for me, I know I'll be back again soon!

Came in today after a long hard day of work in this summer heat. Looked on google for nearby places…read morefor lunch and came across this place. So glad I stopped by wish I took a better picture of this sando. I ordered the L2 lunch combo on the menu. Words can't describe my first experience. As soon as I walked in and saw the employees hand making the break in the back I already knew what ever I was gonna order the bread was gonna be on point. The best way I can describe how I felt with the first bite of my sandwich is when Jake the dog (from ADVENTURE TIME; best show ever!!) was done making his perfect sandwich. If you don't know what I'm talking about then I'm sorry you've been living under a rock haha. Just YouTube "Jake the dog perfect sandwhich" and you'll understand what I mean. After I was done with my L2 combo, mind you I took my time with this one, I found myself tearing up from how good it was. The sandwich was on point and was a great combo with the cold brew I had. After i was done with my meal it brought a tear to my eye from the goodness I just had that I had to download the yelp app and leave a good review and to my surprise I seen a couple bad reviews. I read a couple of them and I am glad this place is still around for me to be able to give it a try. My order was out in a timely manner and food was at a good temperature. Will definitely return with my girlfriend to try out the bagels and slices along with the other cold brews they have. Great job guys

I've been here twice now. The ingredients are so very fresh and you can tell all of the baked goods…read moreare made with great care. The most recent time, I had a sesame bagel with the chiltepin cream cheese. I loved that the bagel had sesame seeds on both sides! The cream cheese was the perfect consistency and the perfect balance of spice. Their chocolate chip bread is also dynamite! Service is great - you go in and order, then they bring your items to your table. We enjoyed the fans under the awning. There are plenty of seats and everything is clean. They did a really great job jazzing up this former sonic! I hope to one day return to try the pizza!!
