Edgewood Pizza is a great spot to get a quick pizza fix at a low price but high taste value! I'm from Chicago where Pizza is KING so any other pizza just doesn't live up to my expectations but this place has captured my taste buds. I like that they are open late so after a night of kicking it you can stop on buy and grab a slice and go home full and happy. I am a fan of pizza by the slice but you can also order the full pie. What I appreciate about their slices is that they don't make a pizza and then add your ingredients and throw it back in the oven. Your slice is made to order so your pizza is fresh. But really makes this spot cool is the customer services, specifically by the owner. Bob (not sure if that's his real name but that's what he told us lol) made sure our experience was pleasant and that we were well taken care of. Unfortunately the owner has taken customers for granted and no longer provides quality customer service, inflated the prices and includes the gratuity automatically. The staff does not wear masks (observed after several visits, including the owner) and the bartender entered the kitchen without washing her hands, after handing money, she then handled my food and the owner refused to make the order over. The owner then frowned upon me requesting a refund. The refund was given in cash minus the tax and tip. Late night pizza spot after hitting the bars on Edgewood. There was a small line and they had a bar to sit at. The waitress came up and took our order. I asked the difference between queen sized and king. Queen is basically one large piece and king is two. I got two because I am greedy. They said everything is made to order and if you got a specialty pizza flavor in the king size it was around $7. Not too bad. At this time of night, it was 3am after a night of partying and drinking. My friends fell asleep while waiting for food it took a little long. That was the only issue. As far as taste, I am not sure if it was that we were really hungry and drinking or the food was just real good because we killed that pizza. I don't think I had that much to drink because I remembered that it was a good pizza. I got the chicken pesto. I thought it was pretty flavorful and the crust was crispy. Whenever I crave pizza with a great tasting sauce this is my "go to place." Not exactly NY Style, but the flavor of the sauce and the crust is the draw for me. Friday 8//19 must have been a bad day or I was just there at the worse time of the day because it was too much. Perhaps it was "Happy Hour" because the only person behind the bar was taking orders, closing tickets and making drinks. The time was a little after 4p. The waiter was overwhelmed and it showed. The person who placed her order before I did even though I'd walked in before her, left before her food could be bought out. She simply got tired of waiting. I stayed because I wasn't in a hurry. The wait was interminable! I waited too long for a cool Queen Slice along with 5 wings that looked like they came from Cornish Game Hens. I thought "For 5.99 this is a rip-off!" The fries were okay, but there was no bottle of catsup anywhere around so they came with a few packets of catsup---which is never enough. I appreciate the fact that pizza can be purchased here by the slice and the King and Queen concept is a novel idea. But they need to have adequate help for a Friday evening rush or was that within the "Happy Hour" window---which would explain the craziness. I'm still a fan because the pizza is great! Me and 3 of my friends came here on a Saturday night and ordered at the bar a small meal (2 slices of pizza, 10 wings, and a tender basket with fries). Proceeded to sit at a table to wait until we saw 4 groups come in and get food before we decided to ask our server what was the hold up. She proceeded to tell us our food was coming out, but it had been 30 minutes so I told her I wanted the check. She then brought HALF of our meal out and we thought surely the rest of our food would be coming. NOPE, it was another 10 minutes before we received the wings and another 5 minutes for fries after seeing the kitchen staff bring out fries to the table behind us. It is clear she forgot to put our order in. To top it off, the server added her tip onto all of checks. Instead of an apology or accountability, she blamed the kitchen it appears. My assumption is most people were in for the night since temps were dropping. They have a good selection of liquors. The menu is pretty standard for a pizzeria. Pizza and wings. I ordered a King Slice with mild lemon pepper flavored wings. FYI these are wet, not dry. And were good. Pizza was warm. I had to remind the girl that I had ordered a pizza which I think was sitting there cause she forgot. And it takes ridiculously long for things to come out which turned me off. Wings, fries and pizza shouldn't take 30 minutes. 15-20 max. Especially because it wasn't busy. So yeah. I'm dropping the rating because the server gave our food to another party. I wish I could give this place a negative 5.. ordered a 30$ veggie pizza.. I arrive there 30 minutes later.. I am given a check with my total, to my suprise there is gratuity added to my check for takeout.. I question the gratuity and I'm informed everyone gets that!! I proceed to pay for my pizza with my credit card. I was then told that some way they misplaced the check and didn't make the pizza.. employees from the kitchen and bar proceeded to argue! I asked for a refund from bill the management and he informed me he was not authorized to give refunds and needed to have the owner come from his home.. I asked why is that necessary and bill immediately took offense and started to yell.. I asked for my card to be returned to me and proceeded to leave with no refund.. for the next three days I called and left messages for the owner! No one has returned my phone call! I'm posting to far warn everyone.. if you are not drunk or under the influence of anything, maybe you should think twice before visiting! I give this place 0 stars due to the fact that me and a few friends walked in today stood at the front for 6 minutes as the waiter walked by several times. My friend finally goes to the bar to ask if it's seats yourself and the waiter rudely goes "yeah". She had a attitude it was written all over her face. We then "seat ourselves" and sit there for 10 plus minutes without anyone acknowledging us or taking drink orders. I turn around there's only one large group of a few ppl and a few other stragglers in there. It was pretty quiet probably due to the fact that everyone was wondering why tf don't we have food. As we waited we never got a menu, never were acknowledged, and never got our drinks taken. I wouldn't recommend this spot and I aint even try the food yet. Rude service always loses in my book. This restaurant is scamming people out of extra money through liquor tax. Check your receipts! Liquor tax in Georgia is 4%. I called the restaurant this morning to find out why I had been charged a tax and a tax 2 along with 10% gratuity without any notification. There was no manager on duty that I could speak to at the time of my purchase. I was told liquor tax in Georgia is 6%. Then I asked what is the liquor tax based on in the restaurant, the entirety of the bill or the single beer that was purchased? I was told the single beer. So how is it I was charged .66 on $6? 6% of 6.00 is .36. I was continually told that 6% of $6 is .66. This is basic math. After I persistently corrected him, I was told he doesn't know what liquor tax is in Georgia it's probably 7 or 8 percent! What?! I'll be working on getting this restaurant audited. I eat there all the time. The pizza is some of the best in the city, NY style huge slices that are nice and crisp. The toppings are premium. I also enjoy the wings spicy garlic and lemon pepper are awesome, the fries compliment everything. The waiters/waitresses are an eclectic bunch. You might meet an African from Norway(100% factual), an Irish guy with ridiculous beard, a model tattooed from head to toe, or someone with multiple piercings in their face.
