Cafe Efendi is a Turkish restaurant located in Alpharetta. I came here mainly to see the belly dancer because there would be a free dance class. My friend and I sat on the patio because it was a nice day to take a breath of fresh air. I ordered the falafel platter and hummus. The falafel was a bit dry for my taste but the flavors were there. I did like the hummus. Service was fine. Everything was just A-Okay so nothing memorable and not worth my drive to Alpharetta. As for the free dance class, it was just my friend and I. Went to Cafe Efendi recently and could definitely see the quality of design implemented throughout the restaurant. It is very tastefully done and setup, with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. First of all i am born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey and extremely picky on food. Cafe Efendi served the best Turkish food I have ever eaten in United States. Their Lahmacun (Turkish Meat Pizza) is even better than most of the restaurants in Turkey. My girlfriends family loved their meals as well. We started ordering from them every other week. The food tasted fresh and flavorful. The service was personalized and the ambiance was relaxing. Loved the music they played and it was CLEAN! Now I did not use the restroom but by the cleanliness of the seating area, I'd expect the same in their restrooms. We will return. read more

The cold Appetizer Sampler Lunch was entirely flavorful. We had also ordered falafel, hummus & pita, alongside the Lamb Chop appetizer. The lamb was cooked to order and fairly tasty. Café Efendi's house sauce/oil features savory spices and is equally notable as their plates. The Baklava was ordered for dessert. This layered pastry was leveled on the sweetness scale with nutty undertones but unfortunately was not as fresh as one would hope. Overall, the food is filling and easily excites the palate. My coworkers and I came here for lunch today. I reminded them when they chose this place that the last time we ate here we "banned it" due to service issues. They couldn't recall the details, so we decided to go anyway. This is not our first time at this restaurant. We've been here many times and today's visit was no different. Overall, everybody enjoys the food. Taste, price, options, etc. However, it's the service that is always lacking. For me, I worry each time we go here because there are never a bunch of customers eating lunch. Why is that? There is never more than one waiter/waitress. Thus, making the service extremely slow. You need to allow 2 hours for lunch here. We just don't have that kind of time. We struggled to place our order, we struggled to get refills, to get ice in the water, and again to receive our bill. It became a joke at our table. Again, I reminded my friends, don't you remember, this happens all the time here??? :( For me personally, I was also upset that they had no air conditioning today! It's 90 degrees outside and about 85 inside this place! Unacceptable! My friend said when she used the rest room that it was cooler in that area. Maybe they had an Hvac unit broken or something? Would have been nice to know or if they would turn on their fans. In summary, I never choose this place for lunch, but my coworker workers enjoy the food, so I get out voted, and we all go here. This place is a scam, please double check your bill! I came here 4 years ago on a date and I noticed on the bill all of our entrées, appetizers and drinks had an extra few dollars added to it compared to what was on the menu. When I mentioned it to the waitress she said the menu 'was incorrect'. Ummm well then fix the bill and update your menu. I decided to give it another chance 4 years later and they are doing the same thing!!! I asked for the $7 house wine and they put a $13 wine on the bill. I asked for a $19 kebab and they charge me $22. I didn't say anything and just paid it but I really do not respect a business that steals from their customers. Eat here at your own peril. I ordered a dish after repeatedly being assured by the waiter that it was vegan. At serving it was obvious the eggplant was covered with beef. I sent it back reiterating that I was a vegan and could not eat meat. They didn't replace the dish They scraped the beef off (not very well) and sent it back out. I adore this place. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is authentic. Try the Turkish wine or a tea. A place with a vegan, meat lover, and a wine lover can all sit at one table and break bread together. There is nothing that I haven't tried and loved. Omg!!! What!!!.. I am so shocked how low the reviews were. I came here because my friend who is an Egyptian convinced me about this place. I was very suspicious because the rating was low. We first got Baba Ganoush as a starter and it blew my mind!!! Sooo delish!! And I got Moussaka with beef as my main dish. This is egg plant, ground beef and rice. You will be super happy to try this out. All of portion size was very big and pretty reasonable. Their wine list isn't too long but their house wine is very reasonable--whooping less than 7 bucks! Also, our waiter was amazing as well. He was very humorous and friendly. They have full bar(don't know what they exactly serve as I was enjoying cheap wine in my table). I came here for Saturday dinner and they had a belly dancer dancing around the table. I can't say that I enjoyed but it was interesting. She seemed very talented. I have no idea how this place has such high reviews. The food was ok at most. We had the Iskender kebab which was %80 soggy pitta bread and some sauce that tasted like it was out of a can and the Adana kebab which was nice bu not worth $19. BOTH salmon plates came out over-cooked, burnt on both sides, and tasted like CHARCOAL instead of salmon. The salad that came with it was GREASY, WILTED, and no taste except for a hint of vinegar. AGAIN, DISGUSTING!!!! My husband's eggplant kebab was more like a burger that tasted like sour hamburger. SUPER DISGUSTING!!! Nothing came out tasting like Turkish food at all. Came here with some friends on my last night in Atlanta. The vibe of the whole restaurant is amazing. Before I even walked in I could feel the energy of the restaurant from the outside. The bustling of the restaurant on a Saturday night was a total plus. They had a DJ, a belly dancer, the works. The service here was also amazing. Our waitress was a Turkish woman and she not only seemed like a great individual she also was a great waitress, took care of all of our concerns, and was incredibly nice. Aside from that though I was quite unimpressed with the food. I asked for medium done lamb, and it came well done, the vegetables were quite flavorless and slightly undercooked. The rice was also lacking flavor, but I did appreciate the chickpeas in the rice that gave it a subtle flavor and diversified the overall texture of the rice. The slightly pickled red cabbage or red cabbage with a vinaigrette on it was also quite tasty and different which not only added some color and pop to the meal but really was the best-tasting thing on the plate. The lamb was good, but since it was overcooked it wasn't as tender as I had hoped and I think it was lacking some flavor as well. Their plating also needs some work. The hookah was great while it was working. Two of the hookas we had were having trouble staying lit and weren't very smooth. Luckily our waitress was able to quickly resolve the situation. read more
