Been there this morning since I was in town with fam. The restaurant is historical and claimed to be established in 1971 and much of the place remained the same. Seems like the decor, the dining sets, furnitures, and even bathroom all can use some modernization. I know this area is tourisy so I am ok with the higher than normal price. My issue is the food isn't very exciting at all. I ordered the typically 2 eggs and sausage and it comes with toast and home fries. The toast and sausage you really can't go wrong since they are ready made food. Eggs are cooked to proper doneness so they've done their name proud. The offender on the plate is the heap of mess disguised as home fries. They are scalloped and wet and burnt. They are pale and lacking any meaningful flavors. My family think the potato was cooked the night before with its unusual powdery texture, I don't know that, but I do know if this is home fries then I don't wanna go home. As for the beverage our coffee was hot and refilled prompt but they tasted sour. I have had sour coffee elsewhere before so while I don't love it I had two cups regardless. Kids complained their water has metal taste to them, and since they are not iron deficient they have their water a pass. Overall we were a bit under hydrated during this meal. The service was ok. Our waitress wasn't overly warm or friendly but I had all I need when I need them so can't complaint. I don't frequent this area and may not return in a foreseeable future. When I do though I'd love to see this place turn itself around. It's location is prime and very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. Get a good potato recipe and knock it out of the park next time! read more

First time visit and it will definitely won't be the last. Literally arrived 15 minutes before they were scheduled to close. Hostess encouraged us to come in anyway and told us that we could order and stay as long as we'd like. Waiter James was just as warm and welcoming. They both made us feel genuinely welcome despite arriving just before they were scheduled to close. The food was delicious and the portions very generous. Overall, great quality, value and exceptional service. We are Cape Cod residents so we will be back for sure!!!! read more

We ate brunch on a weekend here recently, and the entire family was happy that we found this place. There were 5 of us and we were quickly seated at one of the outdoor tables. The waitress that handled our orders and brought the food was friendly and efficient. It took 10-15 minutes for her to bring out 4 omelettes & toast, pancakes, coffee. We all liked our food. The coffee was also great. We will go back here next time we visit, and recommend it to others. read more

Service was slow, though I can understand why, it was a slow rainy Sunday morning. The inside of the restaurant is in serious need of renovation. While we were there eating our food, their was a man passed out asleep in a stool at the counter. He appeared to be the owner or manager. The food was like a 4/10 and I certainly wouldn't recommend this place for breakfast on mainst that's for sure. read more

Food was not good. We asked for an omelet with no cheese and got American instead. Omelet was incredibly dry and had no taste. Felt bad for our waitress who was clearly doing her best, but she said that they have no system to distribute the tables for the waiters. The Summer trade is gone, but that does not mean that the food quality and service needs to go away, also. Our server was uninterested in doing her job. We noticed one couple getting their own coffee refill, another couple was seated and promptly got up and left. When our server returned after taking our order, she informed us of the lack of cheese choices available. REALLY? CHEESE CHOICES. Perhaps the weekend business was very good and the restaurant had run out of cheese. Perhaps the operation is preparing to close for the winter. Perhaps this party of three should have taken a hint from the coffee fetchers and the disappearing customers. I doubt I will ever return. The one positive thing I can say is that the food was well prepared and served HOT! read more

The one star is only and exclusively because of the lady that served us. The wait was more than hour and a half DUE to HER inefficiency, rudeness, sloppiness and unpleasant treatment towards paying customers, also her lack of manners and proper performance of her only duties which are just to take food orders and serve! Aside from that the food was absolutely delicious and fresh! We'd had the "Canadian" eggs Benedict with Apple cinnamon pancakes. I know she didn't get to spit on it since we didn't express discontent while we were there! We took it like champs! However I'd adamantly encouraged my fiancé to NOT tip her! The ambiance was pleasant and the other severs were pleasant and courteous, you could tell she is not well liked by her peers... I didn't get her name however I'm pretty sure the administration and staff will know whom I'm referring too. We were there last Saturday July 4th 2020, between 11am and 1pm. She is the only Black haired lady in her past 40's or 50's. The place could do much better if this lady were to be well trained to deal with tourists and paying patrons! read more

One of the worst breakfasts I've ever had, come on, it's hard to screw up basic breakfast!! Pancakes were inedible, toast was burnt, eggs were over hard, not over easy, waitress was too busy talking to others, didn't care if we needed anything. Really overall terrible. The server we had at our table was friendly but rushed. The food was B A D, but we should've been tipped off by the terrible decor, "fruit" (whole grapefruit) on ice, or the eye roll when we first entered. Ordered two eggs over hard with corned beef hash - a genuine tragedy. The two eggs appeared to have been poached and then thrown on the griddle, felt like I was eating a hard boiled egg flattened. The corned beef hash was touched only once to taste it. Mushy (straight out of the CAN) , and utterly offensive. We also ordered two eggs scrambled with kielbasa, which was less than average. Giving One star is even too much for this place. My husband is a big fan of egg benedict and of course he had to order Portuguese egg benedict. We should have trusted yelp review and gone to somewhere else... It was awful and eggs were way over cooked. If chef Gordon Ramsay saw this plate, it would've been thrown directly to trash can. No runny egg yolk in egg benedict. I ordered two eggs with Canadian bacon. I was not able to slice my bacon with a knife. it was too tough and dry. i had to use my hand to cut them. How can you mess up with such an easy and nothing fancy traditional breakfast... Also my husband wanted to get a freshly baked muffin and asked waitress if they bake muffin here. Stopped in the Egg & I before I saw the reviews as we were in the area and were hungry. Wasn't disappointed but wasn't wow'd...it was just breakfast... Nothing fancy, just basic breakfast items. I had the eggs, home fries and an English muffin. Eggs were cooked as ordered, home fries were a little bland (lacking seasoning). Daughters had the pancakes which were tasty in more of a griddle cake style. My wife had the French toast and bacon. French toast was typical and bacon was plentiful and had a hint of smoke flavor. Ordered a hot tea, they didn't have green but offered a Lipton black tea bag. Service was friendly and quick. From seating to departure, we were there a total of 30 minutes. read more

BEWARE!!! The most horrible service I have ever received!!! Came here recently while in Hyannis for breakfast with my two kids and saying we were completely ignored is an understatement! We walk in to be seated where we are literally being circled around by staff who all looked at us like we had 5 heads, but no one thought to get someone after nearly 5 minutes of watching us stand around. Finally we pull someone over who seats us outside. I kid you not we must have waited outside for well over 10 minutes for anyone to come by for our drink order and at that point food order and no one ever came, needless to say we up and left. Waited 20 mins until waitress came to take our order. It took another 30 minutes for us to get our food. I used to come here on family vacations when I was a kid, and man, the place has REALLY gone down. In 2021, the restaurant has had no updates, and the food was basic, bland, and over priced. Service was exceptionally slow, even though the restaurant was at less than 20% occupancy. Waitress didn't appear to understand our orders well, and when the food was delivered some items were incorrect. While the restaurant was near empty, we left and noticed a location across the street with a very long line, even in the rain...clearly they got the memo on a better place to go. Worst manager and staff ever in my 45 years. We waited 47 minutes for eggs and toast. Not once in 45 minutes did the waitress come apologize let us know what was going on or even refill our coffee. The food came out and there was a hair in my husbands eggs. We had no silverware. When asked to see a manager was given rude attitude by the waitress. The manager arrived and told me "you can't please everyone ". They were rude argumentative and the food wasn't even good. My suggestion is go to the restaurant "the daily paper ". Great food and great service. The egg and I can keep their eggs. We will never be back. read more

Went for breakfast with my husband. Our experience couldn't have been more terrible. Absolutely worst service from our waitress Melinda. She was inattentive, rude and didn't seem genuine to any of her tables. Other than a mask (which hers was filthy) this place isn't taking any safety precautions during Covid. Watched them clean tables with a dirty rag, reusing condiments for next table, no disinfectant to be seen other than a bottle of sanitizer at the entrance. Food was overpriced and bland. The food was good, clearly the waitress wasn't. Seemed to hate her job, rude to our table and menu lacked information on dairy allergy. She seemed agitated after a request was made to change the meal. We ended up with mayonaise in the sandwiches, which she never told us was in them nor did the menu. We had to ask for one half of a new sandwich and she seemed pissed, no apologies. It's too bad this place gets so many bad reviews, although I was here in November and there maybe a vast difference from the summer. Our breakfast was very good and no wait for coffee, ordering & food. Wait staff were very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. I went to the Egg and I this morning with some co-workers. We had never tried it before and there was no wait (which should have been our first clue). We were seated by the windows and soon after ordering noticed a large amount of dead flies in the window sill. Since we had already ordered we decided to stay. We all ordered breakfast items that were bland and over priced. The corned beef hash was clearly canned and tasted burnt as if cooked on a dirty grill. The scrambled eggs were rubbery and most likely microwaved. The menu items were over priced. Save yourself from this disaster of a restaurant and walk across the street to the Daily Paper - it is worth the wait. read more

Disappointing we ordered lobster rolls which had fake lobster. We had previously been laughing because the menu said 100% lobster and we were saying why would you need to write that. We sent it back but kept the small side of coleslaw to munch on while waiting for the clam chowder which also tasted fake, like Campbell's. When the check came we were disappointed to see we had been charged for the cole slaw! They eventually removed the charge after we asked. Giving 2 stars rather than. 1 only because waitress was apologetic. read more
