Stopped by around 11:30 for brunch on Saturday, there was no wait. I ordered the Bacado omelette ($15.5) and the Cinnamon roll french toast ($13). The food was not as good as I remember it being when I used to come here. The best thing I ate was the harbor potatoes, which came with the omelette. The omelette itself was a bit too cheesy, and the texture of the egg was not great. But overall, still fine. Definitely heavy on the bacon flavor, so if you are a big bacon fan, I would recommend. The cinnamon roll french toast looked awful and unappetizing. It also didn't taste amazing, it didn't come with any syrup and was a bit dry. It was quite disappointing. Would not recommend ordering this. The waiter also was super friendly but very impatient and rushed us several times, left us the check when we were barely halfway through our meal. Giving it a 3 because it is a cute and vibrant place, and I've had better experiences in the past. Hoping this time was just an off day. In my DH's book, there's no better place to get delicious waffles like Egg Harbor. He usually orders crispy bacon on the side. My perfect breakfast is one of the avocado toasts on toasted sourdough slice with greens and sweet tomato slices with a side of fried eggs over easy. I've been in this downtown Hinsdale location twice, and on both times, the service was disappointing. It was either we were missing an order (toast, potatoes, butter) or we were given the wrong dish. The place was spacious and clean. The staff members were friendly and welcoming. I've tried: STRAWBERRY CRUNCH FRENCH TOAST- delicious EVERYDAY I'm BRUSSELIN'- I liked this dish a lot. The cauliflower rice went well with the shaved brussel sprouts and the fried eggs on tol. SHAKSHUKA- it was ok BERRY OATMEAL- fresh berries and old fashioned oatmeal. Satisfying. Went in for a quick breakfast with my parents. Our waiter was so kind and helpful when explaining the menu. I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast, chicken sausage patties and a brown sugar vanilla harborccino. Starting with the drink, I wasn't impressed at all and could have done without it. The french toast had good flavor but had too much icing on top, no need for syrup at all. The chicken sausage was probably my favorite part of the meal and was cooked perfectly. First time to this egg harbor location. I have been to others, so I was happy to see a similar menu. I love their iced tea. It's very smooth and they even offer you some to go! French toast is excellent. Bacon was a little greasy, but it was tasty. The only downfall on my visit is that there were loud kids. There is plenty of seating. The Hinsdale Egg Harbor location has the worst service and service model. The food rarely comes out as ordered, takes forever and NEVER at the same time. Someone's order is always missing and, if you are lucky, may show up before the rest of the party is ready to go...though we flagged down the server multiple times to find out about the order. I don't give out many fives but I think - based on my last experience - that this place deserved it. I've been to other Egg Harbor locations before but not in some time. I used to order the Cassie's Crepes until they changed the way they cooked the crepes. This time I tried the Lobster scramble and it was excellent - creamy goodness! I would also recommend the strawberry orange juice. Hubbie ordered the ultimate skillet and enjoyed it as well. The 5 stars is also attributed to the wonderful customer service we experienced. Angel was such a sweet guy. He was friendly and professional... Never crossing that line of "too much". Really great service and solid breakfast food for this block. Nice atmosphere too. I enjoyed their strawberry orange juice, which was a nice balance between the fruits while not being too sweet. I also ordered their seasonal special, the Santorini scrambler (you can check out their menu online for the latest specials). It was definitely a filling plate for me while not being heavy to eat through at all. The scrambler was an interesting approach to the scrambler with the feta cheese. We were trying to find a more local breakfast spot instead of driving a little further for the location we usually go to... we wish we had drove to the other one. My partner left still hungry after ordering a breakfast burrito( said it was ok), and I had the eggs Benedict. To be fair, I've only ever ordered it once before, but wow what a huge difference in quality. I don't think we will be back :( also, we didn't appreciate the lady that brought us our food. She spilled a good amount of maple syrup right on the table, but didn't even clean it up. Didn't bring napkins or anything either, just said sorry and walked away.. wasn't our waiter who did it, but still should have done a little more. read more

HASHING IT OUT Egg Harbor continues to prove why breakfast is their jam. With my cousin Luke B in town for the holidays, the three of us came here on 12/22/19 for a hearty morning meal. This location in Hinsdale is tucked away inside Gateway Square, a small shopping center just south of Ogden & York Rd. We didn't have to wait to be seated and ordered right away. For the second time in as many visits, I chose the habanero hash ($11). Peppers come diced with potatoes, onions, cheddar jack cheese, topped with sour cream, cilantro, and two eggs any way (I opted for poached). Served in a skillet, this dish is delicious, filling and has a palpable amount of heat. My cousin loved his chilaquiles con chorizo ($12). The cinnamon roll french toast combo ($12.50) came with 2 eggs any style and choice of meat, earning rave reviews from my fiancée. We each got a glass of strawberry OJ ($3.25), plus a side of applewood bacon ($4). Bread = 5 Circuses = 4.5 Frank took perfectly good care of us during breakfast. Everyone at the hostess stand was friendly (I've come to expect this from Egg Harbor) and food came out from the kitchen quickly. There were some small paint chips in the wall and other aesthetic dings by our booth, but it's no biggie. * TL;DR * Few can do morning fare like these guys. Whether it's omelettes, skillets, or fruit-filled blintzes, I can reliably count on Egg Harbor for a delicious way to start the day. This is my second time at the new location. The first time everything was smooth and it seemed like the old location as the service was spot on and the food was very good. This time everything seemed off from the time we were seated until we left. It took almost 15 minutes before someone came to take our drink order. When she came I asked for the seasonal menu as we did not receive one when were seated. It seemed like it was an inconvenience for her as she placed one one the table and halfhearted mentioned one item. We basically order the exact items we did on our first visit. My wife had to ask for three cups before she got one that was clean. The food came out quickly and seemed like it was rushed as the bacon was almost undercooked and very greasy. The overall presentation seemed off. The waitstaff seemed more like they wanted to talk to each other instead of checking on the customers. When one was bringing a drink refill she stopped on the way to pick up trash off the floor while carrying the drink to our table. It seemed like there was no floor manager and everyone just did the minimum. We have been Egg Harbor customers for 30 years visiting several locations on the area. I love the new location and the restaurant feels more open and able to accommodate more people than it did before. On our way to the restaurant, we got on their wait list so we only had to wait about a minute before we got seated. The food was delicious as usual and they always have such a unique variety of breakfast dishes. The service was great too. My husband and I concluded our 9th year anniversary trip at this little spot. I loved the fact that we were able to be waitlisted online because I did that on my way to the restaurant. When we got there we waited 10 mins and the experience was superb. Our waiter was nice and patient with us as first timers and the food was delish. I had the meaty skillet with scrambled eggs and American cheese with avocado on the side and the cinnamon French toast. My choice of drink was the spiked blueberry hibiscus lemonade (so refreshing). My husband had the Cinnamon Texas French toast with eggs (which he had scrambled hard), the harbor hash brown, side of Canadian bacon and regular bacon with his choice of drink the strawberry mimosa. I had never been to the original location so this was my first visit so I have nothing to compare it to. I had been to Cine and Harry and Eddie's many times so I'm used to the space. I do like that they opened it up as opposed to having the back dining room closed off. The decor is pretty basic but clean looking. Here is what I don't get...this area has an abundance of diner breakfast spots but nothing that is more for a grown up audience with higher end foods and brunch cocktails. I feel like they are really missing an opportunity here by not fulfilling a missing need. Some of the positives are that they have a 'waitlist' option on their website so that you don't have to sit around for a long time and they text you when your table is ready, which is a nice option. I also liked that they allowed for payment via phone. What I did not like is the portions are HUGE. I think the pricing is good but I would enjoy some options that are not that big. I got their orange/strawberry mimosa and my husband got the spicy bloody Mary. The mimosa was just okay but the bloody was definitely above average. The drinks took a long time to come and the server said it was because they needed someone over 21 to make them. This is the busiest time at 10am on a Saturday and there was no one behind the bar that could produce cocktails? My husband got the cinnamon swirl French toast, which he said was good but nothing spectacular. I got the salmon benedict, which was good but again, nothing that was a huge standout. I liked their crispy potatoes and thought the seasoning was spot on. Overall, I think the food is above average but the service is below average. Right after our food was dropped off the server put the check down on our table (again, to pay via mobile so she didn't check on us again at all) without even asking if we wanted anything else. They definitely give you the feel of 'hurry up and get out.' I felt very rushed and actually was going to order another drink but we decided just to get out. Also ordered 'Sam Swedish Pancakes' that should have been served with Lingonberry butter & lingonberries. All I received was plain crepes. I wanted to like this place & give it a shot but was ultimately left in disappointment. When I called the restaurant to explain, the worker tried to offer half off or a fresh order but I ordered on doordash & obviously had no intention of leaving my house- so I'm giving two stars for that & proceeded to submit my dispute through door dash for the missing items. I have forgotten our server's name (petite woman) but she deserves several stars for helping us today! I asked what she recommended and she said she loved the shakshouka. Turns out, I loved it, too. Actually, I had seen shakshouka on several food shows but since I live in the deep 815, this was my first opportunity to order it. Won't be the last, especially if it tastes like it does at Egg Harbor in Glenview. My wife had one of their skillets, and it looked great, too. She said it was. I finally made my way to Egg Harbor's new location and my last review was from several years ago, so time for an update! First of all, they really have found a top notch space for what I assume is their flagship store. Nestled right in downtown Hinsdale on what I feel is really like foodie row. First and Washington are home to star brands like Nabuki, Fuller House, Toni and Altamura to name just a few of the local greats. As most locals know, parking can be scarce on this street but Hinsdale has a parking garage. Quick park and a short walk and you are drinking hot coffee from one of their signature mugs and enjoying all the same high quality delicious breakfast and lunch items that have made their menu great for years. I was delighted to see the beautiful chicken oil paintings from the old restaurant on the walls, and also impressed with the new beverage bar which emphasizes their delicious coffee and new brunch-style beverages like trendy flavored mimosas. Busy place!! The food options are terrific! We had a table for 4 girls over in the corner... we had asked to be moved from the original table because it was in the middle of the restaurant and didn't seem a good place for breakfast and conversation for old college friends. The server was very attentive and patient with us, as 3 of us were there and with bad weather the 4th was running late. We ordered coffee and tea to start. It was hard to choose because everything on the menu looked wonderful. I ordered the Blueberry Pancake Griddle combo with eggs, sausage.... it arrived piping hot with sides of butter, syrup and homemade jam. There were fresh blueberries scattered on the plate and plating was perfect! The pancakes were delicious, and sausages were the yummy fat ones. Eggs were cooked perfectly too. The meal was really great. Service was excellent too. The only issue we had was the dirty dish area must've been close by because it was very, very loud ... even to the point of making you jump with the sounds of crashing dishes. My 13 year old makes better breakfast. Yes. It's true. My son and I dined in; he had pancakes, I had a sausage skillet and requested them to add onions and tomatoes. 10 minutes later the food came out. Wow. That was lightening fast. The waitress placed a plate of raw onions and tomatoes on my table. Um. Why, the raw veggies? The waitress told me the cooks were supposed to cook them in with the skillet, but didn't. Sooooo, am I supposed to suffer? I let it go and dug into my skillet. It was dry, hard, salty and I was ready to go. My son enjoyed his pancakes, but he eats anything. He's not an accurate gauge of yumminess. The waitress drops off the check. They charge me 2 bucks for veggies, twice. I flag the waitress and she says "I'll see if I can get this taken off, I'm not sure." Whatttttttt? Wait a minute, you mess up my order and then charge me for the mess up? Twice? Upon paying at the front, the manager decided to give me a 10% discount because I seemed unhappy with my meal. Nice try, Egg Harbor. I won't be back.
