With all of these different egg sandwich shops popping up around California, I had pretty high hopes for Egg Tuck but I thought it was just meh. I got the Royal West sandwich and the combination of the sweet Asian inspired patty + pickle just tasted kinda off to me. I wish they used kimchi or maybe Asian style pickles instead. Being another variation of the iconic egg sandwiches, Egg Tuck seemed worth it to try out. I haven't had the chance to try EggSlut, but I thought since I was visiting the area I'd dig right in. I got the Ham, Cheese and Egg sandwich and I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me about the sandwich. The bread also got soggy by the time the order came out. If I were to come back, I'd try a different item and order the tater tots! In terms of the restaurant itself, you order on the tablets. We came on a Sunday morning but it was still pretty busy. The orders took awhile to roll out as Egg Tuck was also hammered with delivery orders. I was definitely full after that and a coffee latte - royal west (3/5), it was really hyped in the description as kalbi meat, but really it's just a sandwich-sized beef patty. It wasn't as special so it was a bit underwhelming although it is not bad They had about 4-5 tables outside so it may be hard to find a spot during work hours. I get nervous ordering these egg toast sandwiches because I feel like every place does it a little differently. Most establishments I have visited make the toast sweet which I'm not a fan of so I was really happy when this toast was not sweet and it was actually a savory sandwich. I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich and I opted to add in avocado to help make it a little healthier :P it was a decent size and it was very filling. However, my only complaint is that the eggs were very soft but it was a little too soft for my personal preference. I would have liked it cooked a little more. The bread was soft and not too greasy/buttery making it good breakfast sandwich overall. The price is a little high for my personal taste but I don't think it's outrageous and it definitely left me full. But if I ever go back I would like to try the other flavors and see what else Egg Tuck has to offer. read more

I'll be frank, Egg Tuck over Egg Slut. It's accessible, simple, generally without significant wait times. The portions of the egg sandos are HUGE. The sandwiches themselves are incredibly rich, perfectly seasoned, and cooked/prepared wonderfully. The bread was notably soft and the eggs were creamy and moist! I add a little hot sauce for the most satisfying bite. The tater tots are also delicious and hearty and the amount of them you get is good. Just the right amount of crisp and seasoning on them, too. Both these things shared between two people is just the right amount for lunch without making you hate yourself. ;-) Service is great, all staff are nice and friendly here! They sometimes take a little while but I figured the wait is worth it with how beautifully it's cooked. They even taste good a 15 minute walk later if you're just picking up and eating it at home. their egg sandwiches are ideal for someone who likes an extremely soft texture of both egg and bread (and whatever else included depending). i personally don't like an entirely soft texture combined with egg so i don't get the sandwiches anymore but i do i get their classic burrito. it includes egg, tater tots, and sauce which adds a nice crunch and flavor. the burritos are so so good. my friend from out of town had the short rib burrito and still brings it up as something he craves constantly. i also love their mango iced tea, although i do think the $5 price is very expensive for the size and ice ratio. especially considering starbucks is just a couple doors down. i would not recommend their "fresh squeezed" orange juice. if you've had actual fresh squeezed oj this is absolutely not that. ordering is done in the small inside space on a screen. no inside seating. there is only a small (maybe 7 tables?) outdoor seating area but i've never experienced it being crowded enough that you're unable to find seating by the time food is ready. parking is what you'd expect for koreatown. if you're not familiar, this area is notorious for lacking parking...majorly. there is a pay parking structure behind here but i'm not sure of the rates or if validation is offered. read more

So I won a Instagram contest in 2021 for $20 credit. Totally forgot about it , but I also don't always venture out to LA during the daytime. I was in the area today and they honored me a sandwich - super nice of them lol. The sandwich is a beauty. The golden brioche is buttery and soft, very lightly toasted , and is cut open for the "tuck". However, they do offer online ordering which is convenient. Bacon & Cheese Egg Sandwich - It was just okay. No real texture, just mush on mush. Somehow the ratios seemed off too. Perhaps if the bacon was crispier it'd be a little more palatable. Royal Burrito - They took a breakfast burrito and made it their own. First time trying this place and it definitely met my expectations! Located inside of Sul Box, they offer non contact ordering through iPads with an easy interface displaying their menu. Outdoor seating is also available. They close at 1:30pm due to Covid. Now for the obvious comparison: Egg Tuck vs. Eggslut. Although they contain different menus and ingredients - their fundamental concept is very similar. Here's a breakdown: Egg Tuck (Avocado Egg Sandwich): - Brioche bun is not a traditional bun, looks more like buttered French toast. It's not cut all the way through creating a pocket and offering an easier, less messy eating experience. Unfortunately because of this design the egg does not filter all the way down to the bottom of the sandwich - Eggs are soft, fluffy, and juicy - There's -actually- a decent amount of avocado within the sandwich and spread throughout so you get some in every bite - House sriracha mayo could have more kick - could barely taste it - They offer a variety of sides and even burgers and breakfast burritos - Their cold brew was not as strong as I had expected Eggslut (Fairfax): - A traditional brioche bun which makes the eating process a lot messier than an Egg Tuck sandwich. They also do not provide a sturdy cardboard box to contain the mess like Egg Tuck does - Eggs are fluffy - not as juicy as Egg Tuck. Slightly more salted. - Contains cheddar cheese which Egg Tuck does not - Caramelized onions make it sweet (personally not a fan) - Sriracha Mayo is excellent - They really only offer the egg sandwiches - no variety in their menu - Cold brew is strong Bottom line: Egg Tuck hit the mark on everything for me aside for their sriracha mayo, which arguably makes the Eggslut sandwich, but contains a more juicy egg making up for the sriracha. Cold brew was a disappointment but it might have just been a bad brew. Overall, if you were debating on which to go to, I would honestly get over the Eggslut hype and give Egg Tuck a shot.
