I went with the Matcha but was disappointed because (in my humble opinion) it wasn't steered enough...was way TOO STRONG of matcha taste and not in a delightful way. Gave it to my man who drank it only because he didn't want to wast it. I went back and go the honey Java and that was VERY good. We ordered Bacon Sandwich and the The B.e.c. Sandwich. Both filling and tasty with a small spicy kick. The staff was ok, nothing to write home about and the area was big enough allowing for long lines and looks like you can bring in your pets... LOL. It was a nice change up from a sit down full meal with the ease of taking the cardboard type container home with ya if one didn't finish their meal. I would come back here. I got the breakfast burger and it was really good. My friend got the ultimate sando and was underwhelmed, but mine was really good. The coffee, on the other hand, was very mid. I could make better coffee at home. But the ambiance is very cute and my sandwich was great, so I'd still give this business 4 stars. read more

Such a disappointment. We had heard really great things about this place and finally had an opportunity to try it out. We placed our order online at 9:03 a.m. for two sandwiches and two coffees. We received our order at 9:35 a.m. But to make things even worse, the food was cold - so cold that the cheese had congealed on the sandwiches by the time we got them. While the sandwiches tasted good, they would have been even better without a 30-minute wait and had they actually been warm. The coffees were also quite good. I ordered the chic and a matcha latte. I thought the matcha latte was tasty and I would rate it 4 stars. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by the chic sandwich. When I bit into the chicken, there was a gooey layer between the chicken and the crispy batter. My guess is that it was either chicken skin, chicken fat, or uncooked batter. I also thought the sandwich did not have much taste aside from the red powder dusted on the chicken. I probably ate less than 1/4 of the sandwich. I even tried to eat parts of it at different times throughout the day, thinking maybe I would enjoy the taste later in the day, but I still didn't enjoy it. Second attempt at Egghead since visiting their Cupertino location during their grand opening (an absolute shit show where people were waiting up to an hour for their food). Good to see that they've since expanded and, while still popular, the hype isn't as full blown as before. Downtown SJ doesn't come alive until the evening, so it's a pretty lowkey walk along a long stretch of shops and restaurants. Did see a homeless dude pull on parked car door handles as he walked by, so please take caution. Walk into a neat shop around 11AM where couples and families are enjoying their meals; easily able to find seating inside or the patio outside with clean tables. Pull up to the register and met with a smile by the cashier; we opt for the original chicky sammiches, tots, and I have a coffee. ~15 min later, the food arrives. Delicious. Crispy chicken, I sample the egg which was seasoned well, the tots were crispy but could use a hint more of salt. The coffee is an easy pass tasting burnt. Not too bad. Since this is a busy place, let me start by saying I went during a slow time during the day. I thought the service was friendly and patient (I couldn't decide). I loooved the egghead cafe latte. It was sweet, but still kept the flavor of the espresso. I tried the Hawaiian Morning and it was delicious. The bread was soft and the egg was cooked just right. I'm a fan of arugula, so to put that with the egg and spam was the right combination. I think next time I may go lighter or not have and ketchup/mayo sauce because it really doesn't even need it.
