This is my 2nd time having Egghead. I got the Eggy, Ultimate Sando, and waffle fries. The first time I had it was decent, but I wanted to show it to my friend who was visiting for the weekend. We ordered at 1PM, and noticed people that ordered after us were getting their orders first. We came to ask about our order number after 2 orders behind us got theirs and they just told us to keep waiting. By 1:40PM (40 minutes and 4 other orders later), we asked again and they said they'd go check. They came up with a bag from the Doordash/Grubhub order pickup area saying it was sitting there for the past 30 minutes. (Funny, but not funny haha, funny weird). The worker just kind of brushed it off, no apology or anything. Kind of like it was our fault for not knowing the bag was just sitting there? Huh? Very weird service experience here. Especially considering a lot of the parking around this place costs money to park there. Funny weird. read more

Ya know, I'm all about supporting local businesses especially those on downtown. I know the overheads gotta be a bit pricey for their spot. My issue wasn't so much the price or quality of food (both were a solid 3.5 stars) but rather the service. We ordered it for pickup and there's a sign that says check in with the host before you take your meal. The cashier didn't look at anyone, say hi to anyone, and just waited for people to make an ambiguous line behind each other. I don't know if he had a bad day or not but I got the vibe he didn't want to be there. 2 stars for service. I ended up just grabbing my food and leaving. read more

Yummy breakfast sandwiches conveniently located right down my street. It's a bit of a wait after placing your order. From what I can see it's just the cashier and the cook. The cashier was usually splitting time between ringing up customers and running orders out to people. Another person did help but it was a huge breakfast rush so they did look overwhelmed. The eh items are a little pricey for the portion size but they truly were some tasty breakfast sandwiches! read more

I've been to this location two times, and both times, the wait was insanely long. I waited over 30 minutes for an ultimate sando. A couple was sitting in there when I walked in and already had their drinks before I ordered, but we got our food at the same time so I can't imagine how long they waited. However, a family of 3 got there well after I did and got their food before I could finish mine, so the wait times aren't consistent. If I wanted to go before class, I'd have to choose to risk being late or miss class entirely. The food is decent, it's filling for sure so it's worth the price. read more

After reading the reviews and menu, I really wanted to like this place. I had heard that service could be very slow, but figured that we were going in at 7:20am on a Tuesday, how bad could it be? When we walked in, there was no one in line! There was one person waiting for his order. It seemed like this was going to be great! We made our order and sat to wait and wait and wait. And wait. It turns out that the guy waiting in the restaurant had pre-ordered over 25 sandwiches for 7am pickup and none of them were ready at 7:30. They couldn't give him a timeline as to when his order would be complete. At 7:45 his order still was not complete and he left with a partial refund. Which meant that they weren't working on our order or anyone else's order until 7:45am. By then there were more people waiting for pickups or had made new orders. Staff told no one about potential delays. I had free time that morning, but normally I can't wait a half hour on a work day just to get my food. The slow service reviews really are true. Tip: Don't accept a huge order for 7am, when you open, if you don't have the staff ready to complete it. I ordered the Eggy, the poached egg on the potato puree. When it finally came, the whites were not set and were super runny. I was afraid to return it, because I didn't have another half hour to kill. I mixed the egg in with the potato and hoped for the best. It was OK, slightly gross, not the experience I was hoping for after a half an hour of waiting. My friend ordered the bacon egg and cheese sando. Instead of an over medium egg, they gave her an over hard egg, cooked so long that the american cheese they put on top fused with the egg and turned to plastic. The bacon and the bun were delicious. The side of tater tots must have weighed in at over a pound, and were also delicious. Our server did apologize for the delay, once the food was brought out, but it would have been better if someone had told us that our food was going to be so delayed. It was like the staff, especially the person at the coffee station, really didn't want to interact with their customers. I think if they had explained the situation to the waiting customers, everyone would have felt better. As it was, it just looked poorly managed with staff that really didn't care. I'd try this place again, the sandwich was better than the poached egg, but only on a day when I have lots of time to kill. read more

The food is pretty good. The service is inconsistent. Sometimes the drinks come out way before the food. In my case the food came out and the drinks came out 40 minutes after we ordered them. I went to check if they were ready and they had forgotten them. But while I was waiting they kept making other people's drinks that came after us. read more

Gotta support DTSJ. 2nd time here. Still like the sandos. The Chic and Ultimate are my faves. Inside and outside seating. The Chic is a generous crispy chicken thigh with fried egg. The Ultimate has creamy scrambled eggs, sausage, avocado, chives and onions. Will return again. read more

This is my new favorite sandwich spot! I work in downtown and was looking for something simple, this was the spot! The fried chicken sandwich was so good and had some slight asian tastes to it! Tater tots and waffle fries are bomb too! The only downside to this place is the service. Walked in and no one was at the cash register. The lady finally walked behind the cash register, didn't even look me or my gf in the eye and just continued preparing orders. A couple minutes pass, she finally looks up, and asks us for our order. This spot is great. They have expanded their locations across San Jose and luckily enough opened a spot in downtown. They have great food, and their ordering and pickup system is very straightforward. Honestly I was impressed with their Hojicha and Matcha because I would have expected that to have been overlooked. brioche bun great eggs good + sauce was nice sweet flavors in bread compliment the twinge of spice I've seen Egghead from the bus window on my morning commute to work and have wanted to try it for a min. I finally had a chance to visit and would say that I was pleased. I ordered the Ultimate Sando and chose to leave it as is w/o modifying it w their plentiful modification options. I deeply enjoy Brioche Buns in sandwiches so if you're a fan, this bun wont disappoint. If i had waited more than 35 seconds to dig in, i imagine the juices of the sauce in the eggs and meat juices of the sausage would soak into the bread making for a pleasurable experience. (maybe just me? i like soggy bread sometimes). The bread was slightly sweet as brioche usually is and was very nicely complimented with the slight spiciness in the eggs. The eggs were a little wet but not because they were undercooked but because of the sauce of the sandwich. (i'm not sure if it's added or just naturally caused by the contents of the sandwich.) Onions cooked into the eggs were great and i feel as if any egg containing foods isn't complete w/o some nice n clear onions mixed in. The avocado was fresh and complimented the flavors well. Overall pleasurable experience. Ordering was easy as they have a digital order taker thing at the cashier stand. Will come back to try other sandwiches. The food here is EGGcelent! Hehe. I was delighted to receive such immaculate service from the cashier Arai. She was warm friendly and gave a pleasantly welcoming smile and energy. She was very helpful in giving me suggestions such as the Hawaiian morning which is an amazing spam egg arugula sandwich. However my FAVORITE MUST TRY item is the eggy. A sous vide egg mashed potato with baguette. If you LOVE Taiwanese popcorn chicken you HAVE to try the Chic. Imagine a popcorn chicken blown up 5x. I've been traveling and I finally found a breakfast meal that hit the spot. I had the B.E.C sandwich. Yum!

My stop at Egghead was prefaced by missing the egg delicacies from Eggslut in LA, but I was not disappointed. I ended up going for the Scramble which is a wonderful warm brioche bun with egg scramble, fresh chives, and cheese! The entire meal melted in my mouth and paired perfectly with the sweet strawberry hojicha. I had wanted to try the Eggy as well but the staff stated that they unfortunately didn't have it, despite it being within 1 hour of opening. The service was a bit slow but the aambience was quiet and nice for a lovely breakfast! read more

By far the WORST service we have experienced. The second we walked in we were ignored. We stood there and even asked her if she could take our order and she kept ignoring us. When we placed our order we clearly saw she kept skipping our order. After 45 minutes and seeing everyone else leave with their order we ask if our order was almost done and she points to the only order left she has and says its this one she just needs to pack it. Roomy and clean area to eat but have to get that table saved as soon as you get in unless you want to take it to go outside and enjoy elsewhere. My first time there with my honey and it was a delicious breakfast. The coffee menu offers a lot of different taste. I went with the Matcha but was disappointed because (in my humble opinion) it wasn't steered enough...was way TOO STRONG of matcha taste and not in a delightful way. Gave it to my man who drank it only because he didn't want to wast it. I went back and go the honey Java and that was VERY good. We ordered Bacon Sandwich and the The B.e.c. Sandwich. Both filling and tasty with a small spicy kick. The staff was ok, nothing to write home about and the area was big enough allowing for long lines and looks like you can bring in your pets... LOL. It was a nice change up from a sit down full meal with the ease of taking the cardboard type container home with ya if one didn't finish their meal. Hit the spot for sure and again, nice quick breakfast place, not really mean't to be a lingering type meet up for a group or a first time date, unless you want to get er done and leave once you consume your meal.
