Mu Shu Pork aka Chinese Burrito

We have a confession to make. Rather uncomfortable. We have lived within walking distance of this joint for as long as it has existed and only recently gave it a go. Embarrassing, yet cleansing and cathartic. We got: Veggie egg rolls and cream cheese wontons. Mu Shu Pork. Kung Pao Chicken. Honey walnut shrimp. Egg Fried Rice. Chicken Chow Mein. They start you off with a plate of fried noodles...think Chinese chips and salsa. Shoyu at table, sweet and sour sauce provided, hot mustard upon request, the ubiquitous Sriracha also on table. Yeah, we weren't shy. All of it was tasty. We bagged about half of it to go. Large portions. Small place with just about half dozen tables. Very bustling take out scene. Excellent value for the amount of food you get. And, the service was great. You will not leave here hungry. The amount of food they crank out for takeout and sitdown orders is impressive.

We've been coming here for a long time and it's always so good! Tom, the owner is such a nice guy, always so kind and service is great. The food is always delicious and made to order, everything is always so fresh & flavorful. Inside is clean, and a nice place to have a lowkey lunch or dinner. If you are in HB or near, try Egg Roll King!

This is, by far, our favorite Chinese restaurant in Huntington Beach! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, exactly what you hope for in a great Chinese restaurant. The owner and staff are so friendly and exceptionally attentive, making every visit feel special. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, the food is consistently outstanding and absolutely delicious!!

Egg Roll King is so cute. It is not huge. Parking is easy. The prices are great. You can get egg rolls for as little as 3$ for 2 chicken ones. Yummy. We try to dine there, but we also deliver when we are in a hotel nearby or we do take away. All are great. The food comes fresh, hot and as ordered. The service is very nice and they are good with kids. You will like them. We just love their egg rolls and get them all whenever we are there, we just take the rest with us. They are great the next day. They have, Vegetable Egg Rolls (2) Chicken Egg Rolls, Pork Fried Wontons, Cream Cheese Wantons (not for me usually) and Fried Dumplings egg rolls. All are great. They also have wonderful fried rice and have a good selection. We love all their food. Their Kung Pu Shrimp is great. All of the main courses are very good. And again, super reasonable prices and great service.

1st time here and food was delicious! Will definitely be back! We all liked our dishes.

Stumbled upon here with an idea to get some Fried Rice. Well, we got chicken eggrolls, house fried rice, honey glazed walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef, and House chicken. All exceeded my expectations and were absolutely delicious! Definitely a must try place. By the way, portions are huge too. Their shrimps were ginormous!

I had an excellent dinner here with immediate family members. Vegetable Egg Rolls were moist inside and very good. A Small Hot & Sour Soup was excellent, with the caps of Button Mushroom bobbing on top, tofu, egg, and broth that had the perfect blend of sweet and sour notes. Fried Pork Dumplings were small but nicely constructed and very good in taste dipped in Plum Sauce, Sweet & Sour Sauce, and Hot Chili Oil. While others at my table split a Large Won Ton Soup and enjoyed extensive Mu Chu Chicken Wraps and House Special Chicken with Broccoli, Diane addressed her well-constructed and sweet Honey Walnut Shrimp, and I concentrated my attention on Shrimp in Lobster Sauce and Kung Pao Three Flavors (Beef, Chicken and Shrimp). Everything was tasty and washed down with Hot Tea. We had a veritable Chinese feast. Service was attentive and responsive, and our reserved table for six in front of the aquarium was quite comfortable. This was probably our best experience here!

Whatever you order comes out of the kitchen in rapid order. So if you have to make a flight at LAX this might work for you (with some reservations to follow). I walked in and was reminded of my way to cool week in Cuzco only without the crushing headache from the altitude. The place is pretty inside with a beach front vibe to it. The walls are white with murals of fish in schools. The dining room is bright, attractive and filled with comfortable four tops with room to spread out. A cute Bar offers the usual suspects you'll find at a Latin resto to keep your appetizers company. The staff is practiced at getting your food from the kitchen to your table efficiently. Gabriel was focused on keeping the dishes coming and making suggestions when requested or required. At 5:00 PM the place was empty save for waiters waiting for the action to start. Make a nest and in a wink a Server will drop off a basket of house made Potato Chips as good as any Potato Chip ever dreamed of becoming. Salty, super crunchy, greaseless, they was. Truly memorable. Perfect just as they are, there was a bonus...a cup of Huanciana Peruvian Aji Chile and Potato Sauce to take a skinny dip in. Them chips were tasty treats you wish you could stop eating...but you simply can't. A Coconut Daiquri with Plantation Xaywaca (Rum), Salted Fermented Mango, Lime Acids, and Lemon Juice all in an Old Fashioned Glass and a large rock sprinkled with Shredded Coconut. A Rum Yummer and perfect with those magical Chips. The next dish out was the Piqueo Rocoto Mar which was a mas-o-menos tray of four square cups of Causa Shrimp, a fugitive from a bland Jambalaya, Fried Calamari, which were as chewy as an Air Jordon Tongue, Ceviche Mixto (with unknown raw fish) with Salmon Roe, and sadly none of this was remarkable. The last cup offered Grilled Octopus Tentacles which I stopped eating since I watched My Octopus Teacher twice. Being polite I cut off a hunk. It was Octo Chewing Gum. More time in the poaching liquid before grilling might have helped as the Mild Chili Sauce ladled over the Octo arms was decent enough. The Grilled Peruvian Scallops were excellent. Grilled just right, served in the shell with a Buttery Sauce and a sprinkle of Grated Parmesan Cheese. Pry the little buggahs out of their shell, and enjoy each and every one and finish by slurping the juice. Think of this as Peruvian Coquilles St. Jacques. Move the Scallops to the corner nearest you where you hid the last of those Potato Chips. The Acevichado was a Nikkei Style Sushi Roll, (two ample rows) and you know, all things considered, it was pretty good. Bluefin Tuna Loin, Acevichado Sauce (Aji Chili/Mayo Sauce), Sweet Potato Crunch (MIA), Togarashi (Japanese Chili Powder), and Panko which must have eloped with the Sweet Potato Crunch all in two tight rolls. Finally, the finale appeared. Aji di Gallina. Shredded Dakao Poultry Chicken with Creamy Walnut Sauce (masquerading as the ubiquitous Huancaina Potato-y Sauce), Aji Mirasol, (mild Peppers), Mashed Potatoes with Olives. Yes, the menu said Shredded Chicken so that was not a surprise. (Think Peruvian Tinga. I thought fridge clean out). However there were bits of skin hangin' on for dear life, and tendrils of stringy connective tissue like a spider web that followed each fork full that had to be pulled off the chicken. Bottom line it was Pollo de Bandas de Goma, para me, no gracias. Rocoto Pesaca Bar otra vez? Tal vez.

Told him it was our first time and he gave us time to look over the menu. We got the signature combo ($31.95) that came with a lobster roll, a side, spring mix salad, and cup of soup. Got the maine lobster roll, fries as the side, and clam chowder. We also got a classic butter lobster roll ($21.95) with salad since we weren't too hungry and shared the fries. For such a decent price the lobster rolls had a very good amount of lobster meat and not too heavy handed on the mayo and butter. The buttered roll was not too thick and held the fillings perfectly without breaking apart. We enjoyed the crunchy battered fries and the dressing on the salad was perfect. The spring mix was really fresh as well. The clam chowder had a thinner consistency than what I would prefer but it had a rich seafood flavor. The items we got did not include drinks but we prefer water anyway. For the total price we paid, it was a great meal and we left very full and satisfied. Rated 10/10 for the food, flavor, amount, and price. Oh and the customer service too! There's a good amount of tables mostly for groups of two or four. All three were loaded with a really generous amount of lobster, definitely not skimpy, and at around $22 each, I thought the portions were pretty good for the price. The Connecticut Style was my favorite. The lobster is served warm and poached in butter, with just a touch of mayo, green onions, and Old Bay. I really liked the combination of the warm buttery lobster with the creaminess from the mayo. The Maine Style is served cold with lemon aioli and celery, while the Classic Butter is warm buttered lobster with Old Bay. Both were good, but I'd order the Connecticut again without hesitation. If you're a lobster lover, this is a fun spot because you can try the different styles and actually taste the difference. Connecticut Style = the winner for me!

Ambiance is spectacular - interior is absolutely beautiful and they have amazing attention to details. Restrooms were very clean and nice too. Location is perfect - on Brookhurst in a great Vietnamese plaza off McFadden with tons of other great businesses around as well. Came here on Sunday of Labor Day weekend for dinner with a friend. We conveniently arrived around 430pm, and they surprisingly have Happy Hour on weekends as well. We ordered the Deep-fried salmon bellies, Oxtail tacos, Garlic noodles, Oysters, and later Whole Mussels Skillet all from their Happy Hour menu. We were pretty excited since they looked like really good deals. Salmon bellies, oxtail tacos, and Whole Mussels Skillet were all good. Garlic noodles - bland, needs more seasoning and greens with them such as cilantro and green onions, more cheese - something. Service - a young boy and girl, Mason and another girl helping us were very sweet. And to what made you guys lose 3 stars - "Oyster (Oyster minimum order is 1 dozen) $2" My friend and I thought this was some Happy Hour only special promo, so cool. I asked and they're just raw oysters - honestly they weren't that good, should've been cooked and seasoned in some way. Basically they didn't have to try much for these, besides ensuring they're clean and safe for consumption, but I thought it was a good deal so worth a shot trying. Then I got the bill and was like WTF? And the worse part was the lady's attitude about it, saying how it's common sense (ie you're stupid for not understanding). The obvious right way to write that is "Platter of a Dozen Oysters $24 and $2 for each additional oyster", not "Oyster (minimum a dozen) $2" - WTF, and she acted like I'm the first to call her out on that. Said she can't do anything, it's obvious, but sure she can tell someone to make a note to update the menu and seemed to roll her eyes. Mason, the young server was nice and understanding, but I couldn't stand the basic Vietnamese woman with HEAVY makeup working at the front. My friend I had dinner with found her extremely rude too. Would I come back? Not likely anymore. Would I recommend them? If you're willing to pay for nice ambiance, decent food, but GOD-AWFUL SERVICE, then be my guest. As a Vietnamese person myself, I'm ashamed of people like these for perpetuating the cheapskate Vietnamese stereotype.
