We have lived across the street for decades and I convinced my parents (we're Chinese) they need to try it since they're running out of good Chinese food options. They are pretty particular when it comes to Chinese food and they were impressed. One thing to note is that the pricing on the menu here is not correct. The prices were all higher by about 5 dollars. Salt and pepper fish - fried perfectly, very fresh and hearty pieces of fish. Slightly spicy. I added green beans (75 cents charge). Bean curd and veggies - very good size portion, good flavor. Bean curd could be fresher in my opinion. House special chicken - I usually don't like sweet flavors for dishes that I prefer savory, but this had a really nice sweetness to the sauce. I liked it and went well with rice. Also good size portion. Mu shu pork - great ingredients and portion, has that wok fired flavor. Personally I would have liked a little more salt for this dish, but it did come with a delicious dipping sauce that helped balance the flavor. Definitely recommend. Tiny place that has been upgraded. Ended up coming here for a Mother's Day brunch and everything tasted fine, but I wouldn't say it was anything that was too different than any other place. I would say their lunch specials are worth their value if you're able to go during lunch time. I'd probably consider takeout from here next time just because it's a small place read more

Can't believe I've lived here 4 years and just tried this place. A little hole in the wall with great decor. The only server was a bit busy but the food made up for it. I had the honey walnut shrimp. Delicious. Wife had the shrimp stir fry. She enjoyed. We both took 1/2 our dishes home as the portions are large. Would have loved to try the soup but $9 for a cup is a bit steep. Great service. Move over, Rhaenyra. Egg Roll King deserves the throne. Egg Roll King might just be the best quality Chinese food in Huntington Beach. I recently stumbled upon ERK after a shopping spree at the nearby Target and ordered takeout for dinner. This small restaurant definitely qualifies as a hidden gem. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is filled with yummy food and great service. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, which came served on a bed of white rice with veggies. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside, with tender goodness on the inside. I also ordered the Egg Drop soup, which was the best dish to kick off the start of Fall. read more

I'm sorry to write this review. I had this place bookmarked forever, especially since the pics showed NYC style egg rolls. My barbershop moved nearby, so I finally went in. Now, I want to say some good things before I say why this is a no go place for me. It is a small joint, yet the two employees who were there were extremely friendly, personable, and attentive. It always makes it hard to tear a restaurant a new one when everyone there seems genuinely nice, but I feel Yelp reviews for restaurants are about the food. That way, if someone like me reads a review like the one I'm about to write, they know to at least have due pause before deciding to try it anyway and waste very hard earned money, especially when times are financially hard. One last thing to keep in mind that is positive... the people in the area seem to think this place is the bomb. We were the only ones seated for lunch, but it was a Saturday and still many people came in to get take out. Unfortunately, you have to balance that with the fact the main guy working there said out loud in an anecdote to a customer getting take out that people loved the place cause they delivered and the food was so cheap. So, on to the food... The WORST! So we decided to get three lunch specials for the three of us. Lunch specials have a fried wonton and one veggie egg roll each along with steamed white rice. The three dishes were Kung Pao Chicken, House Special Chicken, and Garlic Shrimp. We also ordered their chicken egg rolls, cause we are from NYC and couldn't resist, in case they were authentic. And, finally, we had the fried dumplings. When I ordered these, I almost felt myself ask if they are pan fried (as any Chinese dumpling should be) or deep fried, but I stopped cause I thought it was too dumb a question. That only happens with gyoza, I thought. Stupid me. They were deep fried and tasted horrible. It takes a lot to make me hate a potsticker. The chicken egg rolls were absolutely disgusting. You older people will remember the Chung King egg roll squares you'd get from the frozen food section and heat up as snacks back in the 1970's and early 80's? These are giant versions of those - exact same taste. I had one bite and said no. The fried wontons with the lunch specials were almost burnt but whatever. The veggie egg rolls were a death sentence. You bit in and it was gross, but you had a second bite and as you made your way to the middle it turned into a nearly liquid gelatinous atrocity. I'm grossed out just thinking about it now and this experience was weeks ago. The entrees were also horrendous. The Kung Pao was probably the best of the three, except both the kung pao and the house special chicken had chicken which had to be shockingly old. Like frozen, thawed, frozen, thawed, and finally cooked after how many times going through that process. They tasted gamey and rancid. They cracked in your teeth like there were icicles in the meat. It was nauseating. It didn't help the sauce on the House Special Chicken was abysmal. I had a bite of each and said no. The garlic shrimp actually had a nice garlic sauce flavor, surprisingly, as most restaurants - and I mean nearly all - cannot do a proper garlic sauce. However, the shrimp could not have been fishier in taste. I mean, this was clearly frozen shrimp, but it had to be old. I ate one and said no. My companions ate the food. On the way home, I was the only one not racing for the bathroom. They both remained violently ill all day. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! read more

Disgusting!!! Absolutely horrible food, filthy restaurant. Waited 15 minutes for 2 burnt chicken egg rolls, while my other food sat on the counter getting cold. The orange chicken was like ash because it was so over cooked, the egg fried rice, tasted like shrimp fried rice, which tells me they don't clean the steamer or rice cooker in between orders. That's dirty, and dangerous for those with shellfish allergies! They could kill someone. Every person with even moderate culinary experience knows, cleanliness is vital! I've no idea how they have 4 and a half stars on yelp. My guess is they wrote their own reviews or they were written by the senior citizens who frequent their establishment. Either way it's lies. The rolled stainless steel you can see while waiting for your order, pay attention, it's absolutely filthy. Listen to the interaction between the servers and the kitchen, that alone should tell you something. It was our first time eating there, and definitely our last. I don't recommend and strongly advise you to eat somewhere else. It's gross food, gross environment, their kitchen can't be larger than a 10x10. That should be easy to maintain cleanliness, however laziness supercedes and if you visit this place, you'll see that my review is honest, truthful and spot on. I'm trying to save any and everyone from this place. This is the absolute hands down worst food I've been served in longer than I can remember. read more
