Service aside, all the great reviews really puzzle me because it was one of the worst-quality breakfasts I've had. I ordered two eggs, bacon, potatoes, and a bagel. My bagel was clearly store-bought and had a very strong, sour-like smell of a preservative that, I assume, would keep my bagel alive and well for at least another year or two (should've I not eaten it). Overpaying for this smelly bagel at a local family restaurant was an assault not only to my wallet but also to my taste buds. Potatoes were blackened as if pieces of charcoal were laying on my plate. I am 174% confident that their cook forgot that the stove was on when (s)he was preparing my meal. Potatoes didn't taste fresh either. I have no idea what they did to them, but they tasted as if they were three-four days old. Eggs and bacon were okay (borderline meh). So, don't make my mistake: don't have your hopes high. read more

I'm not a huge breakfast person but when I eat it, it has to be good. This place exceeded my expectations. The staff was polite so that was great. The menu had a really good variety of things to choose from. They were accommodating for myself because I'm a vegetarian and my friend who is vegan. The environment was perfect because it was nice and the seating was spacious so unlike ihop, or Denny's or places like that, we weren't sitting on top of each other or other people. Eggs up grill is an excellent establishment with great food and great service. It's a busy place on Sunday after churches let out, but the food and atmosphere set it above and beyond, especially when you're looking for brunch on/near divine st. It has a very diner like atmosphere inside, which I enjoy and is a high complement from this Yankee from NJ. If you're in the area, and hungry for brunch I'd suggest checking it out. read more

I have been to Eggs Up on Devine many times but don't recommend the avocado toast and eggs. After my many good meals here, it was a disappointment to get served hard avocado that was not smashed due to it not being g ripe. This was topped by a cooked sweet picante instead of fresh pico de gallo as stated on the menu. This won't stop me from going here but disappointed that it was even served. read more

This place had potential--my husbands eggs Benedict were yummy! My order of loaded traditional homefries with eggs over easy was less than impressive. The eggs were poached not over easy, which is fine I like poached eggs, but the onions and peppers were raw (I can still taste the raw onions as I type this review). The waitress brought out a new plate for me (eggs still poached not over easy) and this time my eggs were raw with egg white clear as day. Unfortunately all I ate today was toast. I've never had a restaurant make me feel better about my own cooking abilities. The loaded platter meal was 85% potatoes with a little bit of cheese and sausage sprinkled around it. I'm pretty sure I found a pot stem in the mix as well. The oj tasted like it had sawdust in it, even the waiters confirmed that. I had to learn the hard way that home fries are nothing like french fries, but are simply diced potatoes with no salt or seasoning. Ate there Sunday for breakfast. We had about a 30min wait and did not know about the app associated with putting your name in ahead of time but figured the wait wasn't unusual for a popular spot at mid-morning. Once we were seated we were greeted and our drinks came out pronto. We ordered, I had the Hash and eggs breakfast with sourdough toast and it was delicious. My wife had the bagel sandwich and it was very good as well. We did have a slight delay once we ordered but suspected the kitchen was a bit in the weeds. We like local, non-chain types of places. (3-4 locations in 1 state or region don't count) He rates a place on their coffee, they offer fresh fruit, grits, raisin toast, other unique items, service, and homey feel. I rate on Tea, potatoes, service & cleanliness, how welcoming & relaxed, how comfortable & convenient. Since we've only tried in once each and we weren't completely blown away, eager to go back the next day - it averaged out to about 3 1/2 stars. Things on the plus side: Raisin Toast & Rye Toast - favorites for us. Very good coffee & favorite kinds of Tea offered. Both Grits & Potatoes - a must for us! Quick, professional, & friendly service to each of us. Comfortable seating, offered drinks "to go". Offered hot sauce if I wanted it. Nearly the best breakfast we've had since moving into the area. Got our attention & desire to keep coming back. Things on the negative side: We haven't seen how things go over a long period of time - can't fix that, only time & experience will prove out. Potatoes were good but ordinary, commercial food service instead of fresh & done crispy outside, fluffy inside, properly seasoned (Eggs Up - NOT Potatoes) We haven't tried different menu items - again can only see over time. Parking onsite is a bit limited for capacity, but other close by options DO exist. Today was my first time at Eggs Up Grill.. As an avid Yelper I was aware of this establishment and had it on my to do list. With that being said, when my boyfriend mentioned he was gonna take me here, I was excited. We arrived around 10am and the line was out the door, after a 30 minute wait we received a text that our table was ready. We sat in an area that looked like a closed in patio. Our waitress Cynthia was upbeat and attentive. I didn't order exactly what I wanted, I settled for the Mason Dixon, but I'm not complaining. My man had the Bananas Foster pancakes and gobbled them up. My Toffee flavored hot cocoa with whip was the highlight of my visit tho. Everytime we come to town, this is a place we have to visit! The food is wonderful (grilled blueberry muffins are a must have in my family), the environment is upbeat and the restaurant very clean. What really makes is special is the waitstaff. Our favorite waitress is Rachel, who always recognizes us no matter how many people she sees! And it is always worth the biggest smile. I have lived here in Columbia for the last two years and today was the first time I tried this place. It was absolutely horrible. For a place that specialises in breakfast, they sure don't know how to cook eggs. I ordered sunny side up and they were over cooked on the bottom and under cooked on the top. The corned beef hash was way to salty. On top of that my food came out like Luke warm. My server never even asked how things were. She dropped the food off and never returned and when she did I still had an entire plate of food I barely touched. She just dropped off the check and left. The sandwich was okay, but in need of a bit more attention to detail in the preparation: one half of the sandwich had 1 piece of corned beef on it, while the other side had six (?). The waitress was nice, if a bit absent. Took a while to get her attention to get straws and to order a bit more food, but she was prompt in bringing them once they did come. Yum-O! Had the classic breakfast with hashbrowns and a side of grits. The raisin toast was so yummy! The sausage patties are seasoned well with sage and a kick of spice. The grits were pretty good for a restaurant. I like my grits creamy ...most places dont get that right but these were some of the best ive had out. The eggs were creamy and yummy. When she brought back my plate, it was a little warmer and they added extra bacon and home fries which was nice. But still, at best, it was lukewarm. My husbands meal was so-so. Finally got around to trying this place this weekend. On a holiday weekend, with a party of six, we were seated immediately and treated awesomely by the staff. We were even kind of obnoxious (NOT my preference, but sometimes when you dine with family, you are stuck with some of their quirks), but they were super.
