I made an embarrassing mistake the first time I visited this restaurant. I thought it closed at ten, and it closes at nine. So I showed up at 8:30, ready to try my first hotpot, and found that they were getting ready for closing. Of course, I tried to leave immediately, but a woman who I assume was the owner said, "Oh, you're hungry? It's okay, we'll feed you!" And over my protestations she sat me down and explained the menu in detail, though they were about to close. No one ever pressured me to leave, and they happily explained the menu. I made a quick meal of it, because I hate to stay too late, and took most of my food home, but I was so impressed by the kindness of the staff! And the food was really good! I was very excited to try this place because of all the good reviews, but I will never be coming here again. When we sat down none of us had ever been there before and we weren't sure how to order. No one explained the hot tables or recommended how to order. When we ask the staff wasn't very detailed or helpful at all. I took a very very long time to finally get our food and then we had to wait for it to heat up on the table. They didn't tell us how to eat the hot pot. I went here with friends on Friday evening. First, the food was good. I had hot pot before in other states so it was not a new experience to me or one of my other friends. The problem here is the service. Our waitress was condescending and rude. She was slow in all aspects, to bringing us water and our meal. The restaurant was not busy. She constantly made us feel uncomfortable with her unnecessary comments throughout the evening. She even had the nerve to ask my friend if she was pregnant (which she is not!) then gave weight loss tips. This was after we already paid and tipped her! It just spoiled the rest of the evening which was a shame. You can have the best food around but it doesn't mean anything if your customer service is horrible. read more

You will only get few pieces of Napa cabbage, 2 small quail eggs, 2 fish balls, 1 mushroom, things like this. The pot looks like it's full of food because they put big piece of taro and pumpkin. And beef is very thin and only 9 pieces. After tax and tip, it's gonna be $26-27 for one person. It's better if you buy hotpot soup base, a pack of beef, and some vege. I've always wanted to try hot pot, and I'm so glad I did! I tried the curry hot pot with pork, and my husband had the miso with beef and mung bean noodles, and both were absolutely fantastic. They both came with several whole shrimp (heads on, be prepared!), veggies, and several kinds of meatballs/dumplings that tasted like some sort of seafood. The broth was well seasoned without being overly spicy, and the portions were huge-- neither of us were able to finish more than half. Came here with some friends and I was super hungry so this place was perfect! There interior is very bright and modern, and we were given our food very quickly. Our server was also extremely attentive and helped walk me through every step of the hot pot process which I greatly appreciated! I got a black milk tea with boba and I was pleasantly surprised; the boba was perfectly cooked, and the tea was very creamy and not too sweet. I also ordered the Chinese BBQ sauce hotpot - the broth was very light and refreshing and it came with so many items that were all extremely tasty! There was also a bar to build your own sauce with options like garlic, Soy sauce, cilantro, fish sauce, etc. and it really helped build the flavor for my hotpot dish. I will say the prices for the hot pot is pretty high, however it IS a ton of food that would easily give you enough leftovers for a 2nd meal. My friends ordered some non-hotpot dishes and seemed to really like them too, so I'm excited to try those out in the future. My parents were born in Taiwan and I've been there several times throughout my life. This is the best Taiwanese food outside of Taiwan I've ever had. The pork chops and beef noodle soup are Taiwanese staples and they taste incredibly authentic. They delivered my takeout order to my car and the portions were massive. I am pretty sad, because I fell in love with this place today, and my hubby keeps telling me they are going to go out of business because most people in Tucson have never heard of Taiwanese food. I love the guy (hubby), but it would make me so happy if we proved him wrong! eHotPot just opened, and they are currently selling Taiwanese bento boxes and a few other items for pick up. You can order online and sign up for text notification to let you know when your order is ready. You can also select curbside pick up (which we did, because we had the kiddos) if you'd rather not get out of the car. With curbside pick up, you just call when you arrive, and they bring the order out to you. Just a warning: a drunk man losing his pants wandered over from the park across the street to hover outside our door while we were waiting for them to bring out the last part of our order to the car. If you get nothing else, do yourself a favor and get the lu rou fan (braised pork rice). It is legit, delicious Taiwanese food, and eating it made me tear up because the flavors were so nostalgic; it tasted of home. It's also a good value with a generous portion full of flavor. Now, I love me some lu rou fan, and I will eat it every chance I get because it's one of my absolute fave comfort foods. This particular lu rou fan was one of the best I've had. The fatty pork was super flavorful and tender, with a nice hit of black pepper, good rice, pickled radish slice, fried tofu, a soy sauce hard boiled egg, and a sprinkling of cilantro. I maaay have kept eating past satiety point, because it was so. darn. good. Despite stuffing myself silly, I still had another full meal's worth left. Hubby got the pork chop bento, which he enjoyed (I tried a bite, and it was very good, but I'm not really a huge pork chop fan, so who I am to judge?) and wasn't able to finish, because it was at least 2 meals worth. The toddler got the vegetable lo mein, and despite eating a ton, it barely looked like he made a dent in the huge portion we got. I also couldn't resist the boiled peanuts seasoned with soy - why are they so addictive?! If you get a bento, it comes with a soup (today it was a tasty egg drop soup) and a drink (standard sodas, water, iced green or black tea, etc). Run, don't walk, to eHotPot. It's the only Taiwanese food (not including boba places) joint in town that I know of, the food is mouthwateringly delish, and I really want it to stay in business so I can keep eating their food and eventually try their hot pot!! Could be the worst bowl of chicken teriyaki I have ever had in my life. Its called the 'bento' and it is a huge pile of rice, some disgusting unidentifiable chicken bits, and four sweet yellow pickle slice things, that I was looking forward to to cleanse my palate from this mess, but, alas they too were weird and kind of disgusting. Went to try out this hot pot place and I'm a little on the fence. I am an adventurous eater but sometimes when eating different cuisines it's nice to get an assist from the staff on what to get and sometimes how to eat it. We ended up ordering the Taiwanese pork chop, 5 spice chicken and a seafood hot pot. The pork chop and chicken were great. Amazing flavor and crunch. The hot pot was not exciting at all. They came over and adjusted the heat on it a couple of times and the broth ran out quickly. There really wasn't any flavor to the broth. It tasted like water that biked seafood. I wasn't sure how to flavor it or really how to eat it. Other hot pot places I've been to come basically seasoned and flavored. They did have a self serve bar with different items to make a sauce but I wasn't sure if this was stuff to add to your hot pot or just to dip items from the hot pot in. I looked up a sauce combo online and it went great with the pork chop and chicken but I just couldn't figure out how to get that hot pot delicious. I'd be back to have the pork chop and chicken again and maybe try a rice dish but I don't think I'd be back for the hot pot. It was nice and clean and plenty of covid precautions. read more

So happy to find a Taiwanese spot in Tucson! Right now during Covid, they are doing a great job of streamlining takeout orders in a clean and orderly way. I feel safe going in and picking up my food, which means a lot to me. I've only gotten their pork chop rice and the vegetable rice bento boxes, and I like them! I really like their sesame pancake bread, which tastes like a bit of childhood to me. The prices are fair. I can't believe the bento boxes come with a drink and soup for only $10-13?!? When I unboxed it, the first thing I noticed is that they are VERY generous with portion sizes. I counted 6 large pieces of beef in the beef noodle soup. But when I dug in I quickly learned that this place doesn't sacrifice quality for quantity - the taste is super unique and flavorful. The squid was superb, on par with what I've had in Taiwan. In all honesty, I was craving shabu shabu but we're in Tucson so you make with what you got, which is hotpot... and was I pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh, straight outta the kitchen hot, and delicious. My friend who isn't a seafood fan (almost all the hot pots have seafood) was even impressed with how much of it he ate. The popcorn chicken was amazing, crunchy, and the right level of spices (not spicy), the sesame green onion pancakes had a great texture, we even got sesame rice balls and debated about ordering another set even though we were stuffed. But the highlight was our server, Liz. I would go back just because of her service. She was upfront about the food and drinks she recommended (love honesty!) and went above and beyond on making sure we were happy with the food.
