The Ekahi grill is a small restaurant tucked away off the road. I have been in the Gypsum area for a week for training and found this little gem. I've been here twice now and had the Maui chicken plate and Mahi Mahi plate, both of which were fantastic; cooked appropriately, wonderful flavor, with a side of white rice and/or macaroni salad. To accompany my meals, I ordered the bubble tea, one strawberry and one mango, also fantastic. They have the option of putting a little extra in the drink such as lychee gummies or black pearl tapioca. A display of delicious looking desserts is also present for when you want to finish your meal off with something sweet. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I had talked to this place up to my family from out of town and when we called to order a young lady told us they are not taking phone orders and must order online. So we go online and order only for it stop us from ordering as 7:30 hit. I was now unable to even order food now. I called them back only for her to say "ya it shuts down at 730" like really?! After looking at all the reviews and recently moving to gypsum, I knew I had to try this place. And oh my goodness I was not disappointed. I got volcano fries and the chicken katsu. The volcano fries were the perfect combination of sweet and spicy and I couldn't get enough. The katsu chicken was cooked perfect and the mac salad and rice were just what everything needed. This place has by far the friendliest staff I've ever experienced at any business in my life. Perhaps it is there contagious smiles that never leave their faces, or their helpful suggestions, or that they remember my name every time I come in, and ask how I am and how my family is. I have never gone to a business that I literally look forward to walking in the door because of how kind everybody is these are really good people. I generally come for the bubble tea. The bubble tea is great and the Boba is not too firm but not slimy. I also had the chicken with cilantro and coconut. It Blew my expectations out of the water. I didn't think I would find a healthy option here, as Hawaiian food is generally not very healthy, but this chicken dish is a great healthier option. Not to mention, it tasted amazing!!!! The restaurant itself is tiny, probably only five 4-seater tables, so it's not great for big parties. However, it's kid friendly and casual. It doesn't seem like they prepare things in advance here, so the food is very fresh. On the downside, the service is takes slightly slower than what you might expect for an order at the counter joint. It's better not to think of this place as a fast food restaurant--The prices range from about $10-$16 per plate, which is fairly normal for non-fast-food restaurants in this area. read more

My husband and I ate here tonight and it is probably the best restaurant food we have had since we moved to Eagle in May. The short ribs are so full of flavor you just can;t stop til they are gone. I moved here from HI, lived there for only five years but I was so happy I found this place. This tastes just like local Hawaiian food, with their plate lunch specials. What a great find in Gypsum. We called in advance to see whether there was anything vegetarian on the menu. The owner told us that there wasn't, but that he could make something special for my son. And special it was. He made a rice dish that had some amazing seasonings in it. We also ordered a few more dishes - the maui chicken and the poke tuna. We didn't order the fried chicken because my husband doesn't eat gluten but he brought out some for us to taste. It was all super delicious. We also had some boba drinks - taro and coconut and some other hawaiian ingredient which I can't remember. I highly recommend both the food and the friendly atmosphere in Ekahi Grill. Man this place is good for being located in the middle of no where. Owners are super friendly and I could eat pounds of the macaroni salad. A little pricey, but for the location its to be expected. I was pretty curious going in. I've never seen a Hawaiian restaurant before, let alone in Colorado of all places. When we walked in we were given the warmest greeting I've ever received by the woman at the counter. Seriously, I felt like I was home 10 seconds after I walked in. First thing you'll notice is the huge menu with pictures under the front counter, which is helpful when you're trying to figure out what to order from a cuisine you've never sampled. You order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you. There isn't a lot of table space so it seems like many people order carry out. Food was great! I ordered the maui chicken, my mom ordered the haiku chicken and we split volcano fries. If you're on a diet, this isn't for you. But if you want some delicious comfort food this is where you'll want to go. read more

My husband and I where passing through on our way to Denver from Heber City and decided to stop here to eat. I got the #12 shrimp and my husband the #6 maui chicken. It was so delicious and perfect. The shrimp was crispy and well seasoned, rice was moist and sticky and the macaroni salad was tasty. My husband's chicken was damn good too. The service was great and the guy taking our order that I'm assuming was the owner, was super nice and helpful when ordering. Will definitely make this place a place to be when in Colorado again. Great great food! Love the options and the flavors. But the one big problem is my family has a serious gluten allergy and they are missing out on the good food. There's only one gluten free plate when I know they can go next level on their gluten free options. We used to go and order from them frequently but the family members with the gluten allergy get sick of the same boring meal and they're left out because they are not satisfied with their options. Also it's expensive for my family to eat there. Please fix this. I'll do more stars if expectations are met. read more

This may be the worst food I have ever tasted. I really wanted to like this place because I love ethnic cuisine, and the people there are super nice. It is expensive.
