My family and I have been patronizing El B J's for many years. Sometimes we eat there if there are only a few of us as it is very small but we often place an order and pickup to take home. My husband loves their chicken hard tacos and a number of our kids are partial to the carne asada deluxe burrito (order the junior for a smaller appetite). We also enjoy the tostadas. Order the regular for a big portion on a corn tortilla or the larger one in the fried flour tortilla. Both are delicious! If I am hungrier than normal I order the carne asada plate which is one of the best I think I have had. The service is always excellent and they do their best to please the customer. read more

This is a little gem in Lomita. The place might not look the best & small in the inside if you wish to eat inside but the food is Pretty good. I always go for their Two chicken Tacos with rice and beans & their Jr Burrito with Ground Beef or Carne asada(this time around it was a bit chewy) but I'd go for the ground beef instead or other protein they have. The amount of Tostadas & Salsa they give is very generous and I will never have a problem with that cause I LOVE chips and salsa. Their salsa is very fresh and has a tiny kick but keeps you coming back for more. Just a TIP: they ONLY take Cash!! There is plenty of parking in the little shopping center they are located at. The staff here are very hard working and Nice & get your food out to you pretty Fast don't forget to TIP them for their hard work I always do. Overall Experience here is always good. For over 25 years I've been eating at this small local Mexican restaurant. In the 90s it used to be owned by two brothers and offered excellent food and excellent service. While I don't live in the south bay area any longer I do visit a few times a year and make sure to stop here. This last time I have to say that I was disappointed in the taste of the food. Got the Burrito Platter with asada - pretty good. What I like about this LBJ location is that they give you a lot of chips and salsa. I got 3 red salsas, 1 green salsa and about a dozen chips with my platter. The other LBJ location that I also go to usually gives me 2 red salsas and about a 1/2 dozen chips. read more

This is your neighborhood mom and pop hole in the wall. This is my favorite place for chicken soft tacos. The shrimp and fish tacos are also great. Fresh tomatoes, lettuce and salsa. I don't know why this place isn't ranked higher. I normally take it to go. Sometimes I'll order a soup too. I don't really dine in because it's not much in terms of the dining room. The quality of food at the Lomita location has changed considerably. At first I thought, "maybe it's me, I haven't been here in a while" but after everyone I dined there with had the same reaction. The service is great, but what good is that if you're insulted by the product? The vendor for the sauce on the wet burritos have been either terminated or the cooks are no longer the same. I know due to inflation, higher costs are hitting the consumers but why are the establishments cutting corners also. We pay a higher price to experience good eating, yet we are ending up with mediocre meals. Please go back to the old recipes and quit cutting corners. read more

I used to love this place. It was a place I could go o for quick and yummy Mexican food. I used to love their bean and cheese burritos. I recently stopped by after a day of errands and wanted a quick trustworthy meal. Well, not meal but a couple of munch items I got the bean and cheese burrito and a carne asada sope. I want to say it was about 7:30om. It was NOT delicious. The bean and cheese burrito tasted sour like the beans were spoiled. The carne asada sope tasted like it was sitting on the counter for hours. The meat was dry and the sope base was stale. Most places will deep fry the thing so you get it piping hot and crispy. This was chewier than 5 day old sourdough bread. If I had false teeth, they would have flown out. They have several locations. I probably won't go to this one again.... read more

Staff is wonderful! The beef was dry and stringy. Overall quite bland. Chili Relleno was unrecognizable. I suggest La Capilla in Torrance.

I used to come here in high school and loved it....today was the first time in years that I've been and what i got was a dry microwaved burrito. Also ordered albóndiga soup and it was canned tomato based soup and mushy canned veggies with undercooked and under seasoned meat. Ordered other things too for my family and I felt bad that not one of them enjoyed their food. My gosh I was so surprised and felt completely robbed. The lively oregano in the salsa fresca was as satisfying as the warm greeting I received from the staff. The house-made aromatic red sauce "Made from the dried chilis" for my substantial, "wet" vegetable burrito is as satisfying as you're likely to find in the state.... The loaded burrito cuisine was a pleasure to consume. A nostalgic dew cast my eyes at the old fashioned familial sense of a pleasant dining experience, as the cook joined the chorus of the corridos. Me and my family use to frequent here during the week on Tuesdays and the weekend and the food had not changed actually. But the service went down hill fast and it's usually with the one server. She's ans old lady who's been serving there for years. She use to be very nice but something just snapped and she changed. She's totally unfriendly now and was always getting are orders wrong. And overcharging us on certain items. We said no mas! They say you vote with your dollar and we shall never come back. It was very sad to see the restaurant change all because of that one lady. Just to confirm we bumped into one of the other severs that use to work there at the restaurant and even he said oh yea she's a very rude lady, so much so he had to leave the toxic work environment. Whenever I'm in the Southbay...LBJ is a must! However, I do prefer the Redondo Beach location on PCH...same menu items and all but for some reason the food here doesn't taste as good and not as flavorful. The Lomita location has an outdoor window and indoor area that you can order and dine at. CASH only! The large tostada style tortilla chips and their salsa is always a hit with my family though! Buy a large order and you'll get a huge paper bag full. 3.5 stars for nostalgia but if given options...I'm going to the other location for sure. Wish it was more consistent here! read more

I've eaten at other LBJ locations and have rarely thought the meal was worth a good review, but the dry asada burrito at this location is downright worth avoiding. It was not seasoned that I could tell - not even salt, the salsa was like puréed tomato, the meat texture was off-putting, the cost was high (11.25), the no-added-cost chips weren't salted and were too many to be justified by the three small tubs of salsa (two of which I put in vain on my burrito). This place is the the only ELBJ that I won't go to. Ordered a carne asada burrito. Meat tasted old and had a pungent "gamey/ beefy" smell. Told our server and she told us that it was supposed to taste like that. We didn't ask for her to take it off the bill or replace the burrito. She continued to argue that it was supposed to smell like that because it was beef. Not sure why she was so defensive, we didn't want anything in return. The order came with large chips, lots of salsa, large amount of rice and beans. The order was for three people and there was enough food for six people. So, we live down the street from this LBJ and never come here. I couldn't remember why, and after coming here today I remember why. The beans have NO flavor, the rice has NO flavor. We ordered an Asada Chimichanga and a Carnitas Torta. The Chimichanga was not deep fried and the Asada beef was dry. The Carnitas Torta was just okay. The salsas are okay and they are generous with giving you chips and salsa with your order. The best thing here was the Coke and the Jaimica Drinks. The coke had a GOOD amount of syrup in it, heavy syrup is the best. It's unfortunate that with the staff seeming to be HISPANIC that the food doesn't taste better. The staff are VERY friendly and very helpful, but unfortunately great customer service doesn't make up for bland food. read more

I like the mini taco special, chile verde burrito, and chile relleno with green sauce. The green sauce is delicious. I eat here every Thursday for lunch. The staff knows me and my office mate. They treat everyone well even if they don't know you. This El Burrito Jr. is more of a taqueria compared to the other locations. You can order outside at a take out window, or sit inside.
