Day one we got a bottle of presecco, I got the cod special and my honey got the chipotle spaghetti and both were sooooooo goood. I would come back for both. Second day we came we got the margaritas. Tim asked for a spicy margarita and our server came up with an amazing spicy Margarita. Like the BEST EVER! We also got the Cesar salad that was extremely good. (If you know you know not all places have good Cesar salads) but theirs was fire.. the lasagna and ribeye with prawns. Both were super good. I practically licked the the lasagna bowl clean ... and I'm embarassed to say that same day we later ordered through doordash the garlic bread and chicken Alfredo. OMG both were 10/10! I know it'll be even better in person. So next time I'll get the shrimp Alfredo as I'm just working my way through the menu lol So the server, I'm so sad I forgot his name . I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment!!! From the moment we walked in we were treated so well. The service was exceptional. Drink orders taken right away, freshly baked bread w/ a delicious creamy marinara dipping sauce. The dining room is small but feels intimate & romantic. The neighborhood can seem a little sketchy if you're from out of town or if you aren't used to the area but the neighborhood where this restaurant is located isn't too bad. Everything we ordered was amazing. From the appetizer to our entrees. We decided on calamari to start, my husband got a cup of the clam chowder, but the portion size was more like a bowl. The clams were so tender! & the soup was so good. The calamari we ordered was was perfectly fried. I guess we were craving seafood that day because for our meals we decided on the Linguini Vongole & the fettuccine frutti di mare. I loved that the dishes weren't over complicated & all the flavors were perfectly balanced. Nothing was too overpowering & it truly allowed the seafood to shine. & as I mentioned before, it was all very fresh, which is huge when you're ordering pastas with shellfish. Despite the mixed Yelp reviews, our food was delicious! In addition to the food in the photo, my hubby had a fresh and delicious side salad and warm homemade dinner rolls. None of the food tasted frozen to us. The service by Carlos was excellent! Although the restaurant was empty, we felt like we had it all to ourselves. I don't think that Yelp is updated so don't rely on the reservation service or the hours of operation. They close at 7p. read more

What an unexpected, pleasant surprise! I live right around the corner from here and every time I pass it, I'm curious because of the name.. Mexican/Italian, could it really be good?! Well, you bet your damn ass it can be! I ordered the frutti de mare (seafood pasta) and my man got the special, filet and lobster and everything was delicious! It's not your traditional Italian food, since they have their own twist, and it doesn't have to be! That's what makes them so good and unique! My family and I dined at this lovely, quaint restaurant! The service was excellent and they made us feel like family. We were a party of 6 so we tried many items. Starters & Salads: salads were fresh and well seasoned; the calamari was perfectly fried and they also provided freshly made rolls with a tomato-basil dipping sauce (5/5). Entrees: Shrimp, Shrimp pesto, Chicken Alfredo, Salmon, and Lasagna (4/5 - only because I wish I had more mashed potatoes & they were luke-warm instead of hot; but overall all dishes were flavorful & well seasoned). I was a bit iffy about the whole Mexican Italian, there's so many Mexican restaurants, I was looking for an Italian restaurant and they didn't fail me. I ordered to go a lasagna, it came with an individual loaf of bread. The lasagna tasted like it had wine and the bread was similar to a croissant , everything was full of flavor! Just a quick tip if you order to go, you might have to ask for napkins and a utensils, it wasn't include it. This is a hidden gem in a weird part of town! Excellent service from Roberto and delicious cuisine. Our party ordered fried calamari, garlic bread, small mixed salad, clam chowder, sole on risotto, filet of beef, and fettuccine Alfredo. To finish off with something sweet, we ordered bread pudding, tiramisu, and cheesecake. All of the food was delicious and had depth of flavors. There was really nothing to fault on the food. The desserts were good minus the cheesecake it was over cooked. Roberto told us all the desserts were made in house. You could tell the authenticity. 4 stars because of the overcooked cheesecake and the restaurant was pretty hot inside. It wasn't until our dessert course that the air kicked on and it cooled down. I ate here for the first time last night. The host was very welcoming. I really enjoyed the music playing in the background, the playlist consisted of The Animals and The Eagles. I was excited to see what was on the menu since the name of the restaurant included two of my favorite foods. Looking at the menu The Gobernador Tacos as an appetizer stood out to me. The first bite was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a michelada which I could tell the mix was made fresh. You could literally taste every ingredient. I took the host's recommendation and ordered the risotto. The host made us feel as if we were having dinner at a friends house in regards to hospitality. The risotto was super good. I wanted to eat the whole thing but I was getting full no matter how difficult it was to stop I had to save the rest for the next day (which like all Italian food is even better) I look forward to going back again and trying other dishes on the menu. read more

So I went to this restaurant because I've been hearing such good reviews from friends about this place. I loved the taste of everything we ordered. Went in on a Thursday afternoon and the place was empty but we were greeted with a smiling face and a very attentive waitress. We started with appetizers and ordered garlic bread and ceviche. Garlic bread was good and not over loaded with garlic taste, Ceviche was the best tasting I have had. I like the taste of lime and I was pleased. These are what we ordered and I can say everyone was very pleased with their dishes: Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo Gamberi which I changed up Shrimp in a lemon caper sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem off of Contra Loma blvd. We were in the mood for some Italian food after binging White Lotus Season 2, and this place popped up on Yelp with some stellar reviews. Location used to be a Soul Food takeout, they've really transformed the place around to a nice little Italian hole-in-the-wall. We were a bit skeptical at first due to "Mexican/Italian" offerings, but boy were we wrong. Food here is legit Italian food, as good if not better than any of the Italian restaurants we've been to. Apparently their chef/owner worked directly with renowned chef Hubert Keller (Fleur de Lys) in San Francisco. And it shows, there is a certain finesse in their food! Before we get to the food, just want to give kudos to their front of the house Roberto! He is warm, friendly, knowledgeable and most of all, takes pride in their establishment. That makes a huge difference IMO! Now on to the food: Bread - not your typical sourdough or garlic bread. Their bread has a texture/crunch of a cookie. Buttery and a little sweet. Pairs well with a balsamic/olive oil dip. Fresh Oysters - FRESH! Served on ice. Amazing mignonette. What more could you ask for? Oysters Rockefeller - Again fresh! Perfectly baked. I would put this up against any other oysters rockefeller I've had. Clams Linguine - Perfectly al dente pasta. Flavor is delicate as the dish really highlights the fresh clams, just like how a good Clams Linguine should be! Oh and they dont skimp on the clams! (See pic) Frutti Di Mare - My wife, who is not a big pasta fan pretty much inhaled it. Nuff said. Fresh seafood (notice a trend here?), al dente pasta, scratch made marinara (you can taste the difference). Perfectly seasoned, absolutely delicious! So thrilled to have an excellent Italian restaurant in our neck of the woods! Their food here is just as good if not better than Smith's Landing or Monica's, but obviously at a much better value! Omagaaawd! Get the "Gobernador" tacos. Real shrimp, pieces of crisp bacon, fresh queso, onions, and cilantro, resting on 3 corn tacos. Flavorful and generously portioned. I also got the calamari, portioned, and fried well... but the calamari rings were too small and got lost in the batter, so you couldn't really taste the calamari. I got it to go. The server was friendly and professional. The space was bright and clean. Location, safe. I would definitely come back and sit down to try other things on the menu. Made a reservation to celebrate my in-laws' 41st wedding anniversary for 2/12. It was 6 of us total including an elderly couple and a toddler. We were looking forward to a nice dinner but when we showed up we were met with a closed restaurant, and this was mere hours after confirming our reservation. I never received a phone call or an email letting me know that the restaurant would be closed and I still don't know why it was closed. They also have mimosas or agave wine margaritas. I opted for the agave wine margaritas they were very sweet but extra wine made it better. Really enjoyed my breakfast. If you guys want a place to have breakfast I would give this place a try. Very quaint place and the only staff was Roberto but he was super nice and attentive to everyone. Why haven't I heard of this place before?! I wanted to try something new tonight and found El Camaron Italiano on a Google search: "Food near me." The restaurant website didn't have a menu, so I googled it. You can also order through DoorDash. We've been satisfied in the past with Olive Garden take-out and have had it several times in the last couple of weeks, but we didn't see anything else we wanted and also didn't want to cook. So, even though we were already a little burnt out on Italian food we gave it a try. We didn't expect to be wowed tonight! We ordered lasagna and chicken alfredo fettuccini and 1/2 order of the Ceasar and mixed salads, thinking those were all safe choices since we'd never eaten anything from here. I called in directly to order take-out, which was ready in about 15 minutes. When I asked my husband about what he saw during pickup, he said, "They were friendly and look like they know what they are doing." I was truly surprised by the food quality and the care put into their preparation. They were packaged well, and the plating (even in takeout containers) was that of a much pricier, fancy restaurant. Each half-salad (which wasn't small) was only $6, easily worth double. The pear and strawberries in the salad were sliced minutes before pickup, and the combination of flavors was divine. The croutons in the Ceasar salad were perfectly crunchy, and the dressing had a full flavor. They came with soft, very fresh, warm rolls. The lasagna looked homemade and had plenty of cheese. The grilled chicken in the fettuccini was still juicy. The fettuccini noodles were cooked perfectly, a tiny bit firm and slippery. The whole meal totaled around $60 with tip, which is LESS than we pay for the food that isn't half the quality we have been getting at Olive Garden. My husband and I filled up and still have enough leftovers for tomorrow's lunches. I didn't know I would write a review, so I didn't think to take pictures of the food. Last night we decided to give El Camaron Italiano a try for the first time. It is located at the end of the luckys shopping center, sort of hidden. We were glad we came here for dinner everything was really good, and the service was great too. I like the fact they have a twist of Italian & Mexican food. We started off with two appetizers, the guacamole with chips and deep fried calamari, both tasted really good and were fresh. I noticed they had clam chowder so I had to try a bowl as well, it came out nice and hot and tasted really good. For our main dinner choices, I got the lamb shank, my wife got the fettuccini alfredo with prawns and my son got the kids fish fingers with fries. This is a little hidden gem! I was craving some ceviche and googled around me and came upon their mango aguachile, and it was literally amazing!!! So flavorful! It was spicy, but an addicting one. The aguachile also came with chips which looked homemade, a great addition. We also ordered the lasagna which was good as well. We went for an early dinner, so it was not crowded. The restaurant looks very clean. I had the shrimp in garlic sauce (gamberoni) and my partner had the chicken parmesana. We were both very satisfied with the quality of our meal. Mine was delicious. They serve bread with a delicious tomato based garlic sauce, and I loved it. Is it French Laundry? No. But I give it 4 stars for this caliber of restaurant (subpar location, cafe-style ambience, super-duper casual). Mexican + Italian? I had to check it out and I'm glad I did. I need to start by giving a special shout out to our very personable and patient server. She really added to our pleasant experience. I ordered the salad w/salmon, which was overall satisfying. The salad was tossed with the perfect amount of dressing (balsamic) & condiments (strawberries, walnuts, blue cheese crumble). I prefer salmon fresh and on the medium-rare side, but I never expect it, (most restaurants use frozen salmon and overcook it), so I wasn't shockingly disappointed. We also ordered the chicken parmesan (a little tough to cut through), which came with cauliflower, broccoli and mashed potatoes... muy delicioso! The marinara was *chefs kiss*; ideal balance of thickness, acidity, sweetness. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the tiramisu was heavenly. Upscale food at modest prices!! Update! We went to dinner and we were blown away. The food is comparable to an upscale steak house. We started with appetizers, even though the house bread is scrumptious! The calamari was light and not chewy at all. The garlic bread was fresh and fluffy. I ordered a Frisata, it's like a smoothie with a beer tipped into it...it was awesome!! I ordered the special- lambchops in a wine sauce with a side of fried polenta and ratatouille...the lamb was perfect!! Hubby had the lasagna and it tasted homemade with a rich and creamy sauce. The kiddo had chicken marsala..it had a delicious marsala sauce with mushrooms and a side of yummy mashed potatoes. Wonderful blend of mex and italian. The ceviche tostado was wveryrhing you want in ceviche - fresh fish, flavorful chilis, fresh onions and plenty of acid. Kevins molcejete was hugh with lots of flavor, meat, chilis and nopales in a wonderful tomatillo sauce. I had the filet mignon special. Which was very good. It's all the way at the end, on the right side of the Contra Loma Plaza. This quaint eatery was very quiet. I think I got there when it wasn't busy. The place was very clean and organized.
