I ordered food 5 times in the 3 weeks. Took the food home to eat every time and even ordered a burrito for my wife and she thought it was OK the third time. . I started coming from a friend's recommendation. He said its the best food ever and better than other one on First St. I have been to both and they are both good. What got me never to come back is the prices and how stingy the owners/employees are. My wife and I ordered dine in and spent $75 and gave 15% tip. Our meal was over 90 dollars for one burrito, fajitas, enchiladas and one bottle of coke. While my wife was eating, she asked for some Pico. They gave her a ramkin with about a table spoon, maybe two. When my asked for some more, the girl said 'we charge a dollar twenty five'. My wife looked at her and didn't give to her and my wife didn't think it was worth that much. So she didn't pay. In reality it should be free because its cheap to make and the amout they is so small AND the fact they 5 salsas for free on side with chips with endless amounts to take and waste. Does not make any sense and felt ripped off. They don't seem to want to talk or converse even when being polite and tipping. They have zero customer service on top. Oh well....not coming here again even though it was the closest place to my new house. Plenty of good Mexican places in Livermore with prices that are accurate on the menu and better food. read more

Seriously amazing!!! I've been eating burritos my entire life and I can honestly say this is the best burrito I've ever had. I got a regular Pollo Asada and I noticed that the chunks of chicken are much bigger than I normally get at other restaurants and much less salty which I love! Normally I feel that restaurants over salt the food but here it's just perfect. The flavors are amazing and the burrito they put together is definitely unique. You will see it's just the best. Most disappointing tacos I've ever had. Passed by here many times and decided to give it a try. My first (and last) visit. I love discovering "hidden gems." Tacos are my "litmus test" for the rest at a taqueria, and it's always been with the risk for $10. I arrived mid afternoon, mid-week for a late lunch. The place was empty except for a couple sitting at a 4-top and a person waiting for a to-go order at the other 4-top as the woman at the register waited silently for my order. Prices for tacos were listed on the wall menu at $3-4. Entrees, staples like Posole, and many of the "super" burritos were $20+. The images looked appealing. House-made fountain beverages were listed as well, but the fountain area wasn't inviting as I walked by, so I looked to the selection of bottled beverages in the cooler behind the counter. I ordered 2 tacos, one each of carne asada and grilled chicken, and a small Jarritos (because they didn't have small bottles of real Coca-Cola). The woman at the register asked if I wanted all the toppings on my tacos and I replied an enthusiastic yes, and avocado and pico please. I had an assignment to edit and had planned to do it as I ate. Unfortunately there were only (very tiny wobbly) tables available that were barely big enough for a plate, beverage, and the small bottle of Tapatillo next to the napkin dispenser. It was too cold out to sit at a larger table outside overlooking Railroad Ave and the strip mall parking lot, so I set down my soda on a 'wobbler and headed for the salsa bar in the corner. I heard a spatula flipping something on the grill as I washed my hands and headed to the salsa bar to choose my levels of heat, a couple of lime wedges, pickled carrot and 4 raw radish slices after trying a (stale unsalted) chip and deciding against more. (There was no cilantro or pico). It was just after 3 pm and I was dismayed at how dirty and underwhelming the salsa bar was. I paused to take a good hard look around as I headed to my tiny table. The salsa bar, fountain area, windows and walls looked like there were years of greasy buildup. The entire place was filthy, including the tables, chairs, and self serve areas, as was the bathroom. I was wiping my table with some napkins when the woman at the register put my plate on the table much sooner than expected, so I complemented her on the quick timing. No reply. The tacos looked appealing, on the small side. They were swimming in salsa verde, plus some raw onion, and what I thought was cilantro...that turned out to be chopped parsley. The avo and pico I'd asked for were missing. The tortillas underneath were cold and stiff, like they were right out of a bag. Both sets of small meat cubes (maybe a teaspoonful) were unseasoned (not even salt), tasted like pure fat, and were so tough and full of gristle they couldn't be chewed. The green salsa on top was also bland so I tried salsas from the bar to amp up the flavor but each of those tasted like they were from a can as well, so I reached for the Tapatillo. Even that couldn't hide the fatty lard taste and awful texture of the plain meat (?) that was more like trimming scraps to be thrown away than what anyone would serve paying customers. I cook at home and have enjoyed asadas elsewhere. I know what they should have as ingredients and what they should taste like. These were an insult. I couldn't force myself to get through half of what was on my plate and spit my last bite into a napkin I put in the trash as I left. I looked closely at my receipt later, as my digestive system confirmed I'd made a huge mistake. The 2 tacos came in under $10 as expected but the total bill was just under $16 (plus the tip I'd left in the jar on the counter for a total of just under $20). There were seperate up-charges for the missing avo and pico, and my single (small) bottle of Jarritos was as much as an entire 4-pack at Grocery Outlet next door! I want to support "local" but this was so disappointing I can't justify giving this a second chance. I could have eaten at a competing chain that was far cleaner with better food (and portions) for less $$...and avoided the digestive upset I experienced later. Given the condition and questionable food quality I'm surprised this place is even open, and am left wondering if the health inspector is a family member, because there's no way this place would pass otherwise. read more

First time in, looking forward to breakfast. Apparently the credit card machine was down, so only cash was being accepted. Unfortunately I didn't have cash, so we had to leave. Not the end of the world. However, my 2 year old and 15 year sat at the table and got a basket of chips while I spoke with the lady at the counter. Because we had to leave, I asked her for a small bag to package the SMALL amount of chips that were on the table. The look she gave me, as if I came in to eat free chips and leave, was ridiculous! Her attitude was so rude and I can't believe she had the nerve. My 2 year old was starving, so i wanted to hold him over until we reached out next lunch destination. I have visited this Taqueria two times and enjoyed the food both times. However on my second visit on 4/11/23 when making a purchase I was instructed by the server that my card did not process. Upon paying for the transaction with a second card my order was placed. Upon my arrival home I noticed that I was charged two times for my single card on individual cards. I immediately returned to the establishment to clarify why I was charged twice. The server at the register proceeded to show me there card reader which did not show my first attempted transaction. I relaxed and thought the transaction would not process through fully. To my surprise on 4/13/23 the transaction processed and the funds were taken from my account. I attempted to reach out to the establishment and they ignored all of my calls. What was once a wonderful new business for me to enjoy good food has left me with a disgusting and sour taste. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. I strongly suggest that you boycott this shady establishment. read more

I selected the carne asada street tacos for my lunch and I devoured them in an instant! The town of Livermore has great food to begin with and this particular Taqueria is deserving of 5 stars! Los Caporales is my new favorite Mexican spot! I'm from Oakland and I've been out here for work the past two saturdays. I've been to 2 locations in Livermore and the food was amazing. Steak is grilled to perfection every time!!! The beautiful lady at the register is awesome, and I have a feeling she smiles cause she knows they are pushing out great food and keeping guests happy. The cooks are busy and there does not seem to be an issue with communication between staff. I loved my burrito so much! You can gather your favorite salsas and pickled jalapeños at the cold station and you can pick out your agua Fresca at the drinks station. Love it. Thank you for my delicious steak burrito tonight. Ordered dinner with my team last night. All 3 of us ended up with food poisoning. I'm giving 2 stars because I have had decent experiences here before. I did not enjoy my food this time - the chicken was burnt and the rice was dry. Something seemed off from the get go. We ordered right before closing and I felt we ended up with the bottom of the pan of everything. + 1 star because the red sauce over my burrito was pretty tasty. + 1 star because of my previous experiences here. -3 stars for the poor quality of food and the sick we got from it. $50 down the toilet. Quick summary: wow! The refried beans and rice go great when I mixed them together with their hot red salsa and the sautéed jalapeños. That was probably the tastiest mix I've ever had in a taqueria. Also, their corn chips were just the right saltiness and crispness. I will definitely return if I'm in this shopping center for any longer length of time!
