We have been to this business on many occasions. Because of its proximity to our home and the extended hours of operation it has been our solid choice for Mexican food. The menu is extensive enough to allow multiple options and the food itself has always been of excellent quality. The service has been above the norm and the people taking orders as well. The food always is prepared promptly. Most recently, I ordered the #3 combination which includes burrito, enchilada, rice and beans. The burrito was oversized and more than I could eat at one sitting. I also asked for carrots and was provided a healthy sized bag of them. This for less than $10. Ordered an item with no onions and had specified that it was due an allergy. Upon checking the contents of my food though, I had noticed the onions definitely weren't taken out. I asked them to remake it and even said, "Uh, I'm sorry but this isn't my order. My throat would kinda swell if I had this. Could you please remake this?" Instead of remaking it though, I was told that "the order was already made and that we can't really remake it." Not only was the error only on their part (as they had repeated the correct order back to me at the start of the initial transaction), but I still had to pay for a meal I couldn't even eat. This place has really gone downhill! I got the California burrito and it was really bland, the french fries were crumbly little pieces that were unrecognizable and pure grease. The meat was dried out and chewy. I should have known by reading the reviews but figured I ate one years ago and it was good. There was no sour cream or guacamole in it and I thought that burrito used to come with it. I went inside thinking they would make it better if I tipped them, what a mistake. I've been telling people about this place for months,I Love El Delicioso The shedded beef or chicken tacos "ROCK" (but dont travel to well,eat while hot) If your a Chile Rellenos fan,try the Chiie Rellenos Burrito.They are Great! my 2 favorite breakfast burritos are the Machaca & Chorizo,boyh are very tasty! For a burrito place in a gas station, it's pretty good. The staff is friendly and helpful- I wanted a non-cheese taco, and asked for avocado instead- and it wasn't a big deal. Yay. $2.50 for a taco, about $5 for a veggie burrito. It took longer than expected to come out, but after a long drive, some time out of the car isn't so bad. The food had no spiciness really, and they are light on the salsa :( All refried beans, which is ok, but whole beans would be nicer. FYI it is in the Valero off of Churn Creek Rd north of Dana Dr... This place truly lives up to its name. Don't let the fact that it's attached to a gas station off-put you at all because it's better than most Mexican restaurants I've ever been to and a lot cheaper too! I ordered a bean and cheese burrito (to eat in house) and what I received is an uncooked/microwaved tortilla with a small smear of beans and unmelted cheese inside - packed for to-go... Amazing....I didn't think it was possible to this unhappy with a seemingly basic order. For $3.50 (the bean and cheese burrito price with tax), I would be way better off going to Taco Bell and getting 4 of their .99 cent bean burritos and would actually feel full. This place is amazing, and before you judge it for being in a gas station, please just try the food. While many of us are fearful of trying food from the gas station on the corner, you have to understand that this place is incredible. We've had the supreme burritos, along with the regular, and the chicken, beef, and steak burritos are fantastic. The staff is very nice, and are very good about getting orders right. While it may sometimes me take a little while to get through the line, it's worth the wait, and is definitely worth giving a tip, or adding to their "tequila fund" as they call it. read more

I wouldn't call this place 'dirt cheap' considering it's not a restaurant with waiting service and its location (a gas station), but I will say that every single penny spent is worth it! I prefer to order here on the go, but after a long day on the lake I will eat inside the gas station. There is a drive through window, but I recommend going inside so you can get some of the fresh made salsa they have in their salsa bar. This is obviously a family owned and operated Hispanic restaurant. I true test to the authenticity is the homemade spicy pickled carrots they serve. DELICIOUS! I have awaited eagerly for this place to open ever since the Burger King went out of this gas station location and the sign went up. This place has not disappointed. I ordered the adovado burrito. For $5.14(with tax) I had a burrito stuffed with well-seasoned pork with a small amount of onion and cilantro. Most places use filler like beans and rice, but this place doesn't seem to. I like meat to be more of an accent than the main course, so I think next time I will try the California burrito that also has potatoes and a variety of other ingredients. Sadly, there is no Chile Colorado burrito, something hard to find in Redding. The salsa bar is small, but adequate. Now, if they could just work on getting the oil content of their chips reduced a bit they would be worthy of an additional star. read more

My go to spot when I'm on the flip side, you just have to overlook the fact that El Delicioso is inside a mini mart inside of a gas station. That is the only drawback to this place. This is not the best Mexican food in Redding (La Cabana and Los Gordos can be better), but I find myself coming to this place when the In N Out drive thru line is out of control (which is often). I enjoy their tacos and carne asada plates. My only complaint is that a couple of times I have gotten the wrong order, and I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, too far away to go back. But the fact that they have a drive thru and are open late (11 pm, which is late for Redding) helps their case. read more

Good, now that you've adjusted your outlook, let's continue. Everyone always says that a vegetarian doesn't know what a good burrito is, but this is exactly the opposite of the truth. Without meat to rely on, the beans and rice take center stage and can make or break your lovely burrito in an instant. The rice here is flavorful and moist, not too dry or too heavy on the tomato (very American when that happens, turning Spanish rice into something akin to Spaghetti-Oh's). The beans are perfect also, a great creamy consistency and mild flavor. The vegetables themselves are fresh. My carnivorous friends report that the meat is also quality and flavorful. I saved the best part for last - the SIZE. We're talking a burrito baby. An infant full of goodness and warmth. Once I ordered one and it ripped through the brown paper bag from the sheer weight and heft. They grill this delightful monstrosity and hand you a burrito that will last you 2 meals, or one great big food baby later on. Play as you will.
