The Jumbo Shasta burrito is hella lit! The pricing is fair because it's a big ass burrito! The horchatha is pretty good too! The churros are ok but I wish they would be bigger. The food is normally good and I used to come here at least once a week, especially on the weekends to get menudo. However, my last experience with them last Saturday was unacceptable. I ordered a bowl of menudo for my kids because they were craving it for dinner. When we got home, I discovered that half the container was nothing but bones and there were only a total of 6 little (very little!) pieces of tripe. That's not even the worse part - they clearly did not have enough broth so they just added more water! The soup was so utterly diluted that the whole thing was just gross! So much so that my kids got sick after a few spoonful. My poor kids didn't let me know how disgusting it was - I just thought it was strange that they barely touched their dinner. So I tasted it and realized what the cook had done. Totally unacceptable, considering I paid over $11 (after taxes) for a bowl of "flavored" water and bones! I will not be going back there. We love this place when we just want to grab something. On occasion we will eat there, but usually it is a take home thing. They are always friendly and the food is authentic Mexican. I have enjoyed everything I have tried here. They also have Menudo on Saturdays, which is first come, first serve and goes really fast. One of my favorites is their wet burrito, a very large burrito in red sauce...yummy! I recently tried their chimichanga. Being a Chimichanga fan, I got more then I expected. A very good Chimichanga, large also. You don't expect much from a gas station Mexican food place, but you will leave here satisfied and you definitely won't leave hungry. Ambiance, when was the last time you ate ambiance ? When you come to this place you come for the food. 2 carnitas tacos for under $5, packed with pico de gallo and guacamole Superfresh super delicious. Sure its in a gas station, but heck it has a drive thru. I work across the street and this is my go to fast food. You can get french fries with it, how can you beat that. Yuck. I went to this place because several people on Yelp gave it a good recommendation claiming it to be "the best Mexican restaurant in Redding" and it's absolutely not even close. It's inside of a gas station and does not appear to be clean. The salsa bar looks like it's been sitting out for flies to land on it all week long. I don't eat meat, so I asked the kid working the register if I could get a taco with beans in place of meat. I asked him about 4 times what type of toppings go on top of the tacos, and he couldn't figure out what I was asking him. And no, it was not a language problem. The kid that actually made the taco was nice. As for the food itself, it was terrible. The beans were disgusting and the tomatoes looked old. I felt sick after I ate it. Overall great food for a good price, but they often randomly decide to close early with no notice and will quote dumb business hours when they tell you they're closed. For example, stated closing is 11pm. Showed up recently at 10:45pm on Saturday for a taco, they said they were closed. Asked when they close, said 10:40pm. 10:40? Really? Wny not 10:38? 10:41? Not the first time this has happened. If they want to close earlier, just change their hours officially so customers are on the same page and don't waste time showing up. read more

It may seem a little odd to buy restaurant food inside a gas station, but El Delicioso has the BEST breakfast burritos in town! They never disappoint! This place rocks. Dirt Cheap, I am unsure how they can survive given the amount of real meat (unlike that infamous taco chain). They taste just like the San Diego taco shops I remember from college. I even asked and they said "Roberto's". The Burrito special uses real beef that is tender and abundant not ground beef. 4 bucks for a wet burrito that is a monster. The Carne Asada fries, a San Diego tradition, while a guarenteed heart attack are delish and must be shared unless you have a bottomless stomach. Its kinda a sketchy place but it is open late ( till 11PM) has a drive through and good hot sauce and salsa. oh, and their breakfast burritos are less than 4 bucks and are gut bombs that taste good. read more

Drive thru takes for ever which is why I keep away if I'm in a hurry. If I'm not in a hurry this place is great. I call it SoCal Mexican...they're red chili sauce is a winner. I was very apprehensive about trying tacos from a restaurant located in a gas station. I am glad I did, the carne asada tacos are the way to go here. They are street style tacos: corn tortilla, steak, guac and pico, tasty and priced well. Also try the breakfast burritos, yum. If you are looking for a food-born illness - then eat here!! don't just drive up, GO INSIDE and look at the food preparation area!!! The workers do not wear gloves, hair nets or anything while they go back and forth from taking orders and money from customers to preparing your uncooked tacos, etc. I only found this out after I ordered breakfast burritos 4 times, only once did I get steak burrito. 3 previous times I got something that looked and tasted like ground beef, then bacon and the third I can not identify! I went back and walked inside to complain and they gave me another "steak" breakfast burrito that is to have meat, cheese, egg and potato and there still was no sign of egg-mostly potato, some meat and a little cheese! EL PELIGROSO is what they should change their name to. LOL Try not to see all the trash in the food prep area too. Just f-ing nasty! read more

The best carne asada tacos I have ever eaten. My only problem is I forget about the place. My plan for 2015 is to try everything on their menu, except anything fish and chicken. Don't care for that. I was kinda scared to try this place... It looked a little too "hole-in-the-wall" to me. But after a reliable source said it was great, I had to try it for myself. I decided to just get a kids meal, that way if I didn't like it I would not feel like I was out much. The portion size was excellent! The food was hot and fresh. I almost gave it 4 stars, since the look of the place is not that inviting, but I figured if they spend their resources on better food rather than better decor, I'm all for it! This is the best burrito in Redding. Everything I've had from this restaurant is absolutely delicious. It's a little place inside a gas station with a drive through and very conveniently located. It's fast, hot and so good that it's my restaurant of choice anytime I'm in the area. I almost always use the drive through and the prices are great. As good and sometimes even better than disgusting McDonald's. You will not be dissapointed! Give it a try. :-) read more
