I've been going to el Greco for years. It's always great for a large family outing or late night bite. No complaints here

One of the many privately-owned Greek Family Restaurants in the greater Milwaukee area, this one is attractive, clean, comfortable, friendly and has many, many well-prepared choices at reasonable prices. We've eaten here a number of times and usually take half of the order home because the entrees are very generous. Recently had two stuffed cabbage rolls, an Eastern European specialty, but El Greco had inserted it's own Greek touch with unusual seasonings. The breads served with the meal are interesting, corn bread and challah. You can return often and always find either a unique special or something as yet untried on the menu. We stopped in Easter Sunday afternoon and the parking lot was full. I was expecting a wait as we stepped to the counter but we were seated immediately and the waitress took our drink order. Our drinks were served quickly and 5 minutes later she was back apologizing for the long wait (5 minutes) and took our order. Gyros with fries and extra meat for my eldest son and I and Nachos supreme for my youngest with a gyro to go for my wife back home. Literally five minutes later our food was served. The serving size was huge. My teenage sons couldn't finish theirs and I honestly did not need extra meat. The waitress brought my wife's carry out with the bill and we were on our way. I do not know how anyone could expect more food or better quality or service at that price point. Too much food, drinks (A bottle of Corona for me) for four for 48 dollars? I like having breakfast at El Greco. The omelets are always good and they serve coffee cake with your meal. The staff is always friendly and the waitresses are prompt and kind. I've only had one waitress who was slow to come back with our check and when she did, she smelled like a cigarette. yuck. read more

The food is good, but the "managers" are horrible. At least the one that was working the evening of May 4th, 2019. They messed up my order, which forced me to drive all the way back to the restaurant. Instead of apologizing for their mistake, the "manager" totally disregarded me. When I complained about her she got an attitude, laughed at my anger, and when I asked to speak to someone else I was told the other manager was upstairs lying down. The "manger" on the floor rudely gave me a business card and said she would be the one working tomorrow so when I call I would end up speaking to her anyway! Really?!?! Terrible customer service skills. I refuse to eat there again! I know there probably won't be any consequences to her actions, but I needed to let people know about this! read more

First and foremost the service is TERRIBLE! I had to ask the server 4x for my change. Then she decided to add a $10 tip to my bill automatically, as well as attempting to keep my change. When I asked to speak to the manager the waitress became EXTREMELY belligerent stating she had done nothing wrong. The owner refused to resolve my issue and being that the food is mediocre to begin with i would NEVER waste my time or money returning and will let everyone I know to take their money elsewhere. Me and my family decided to come to this establishment after my great grandmother's funeral. We were a rather large party of about 20 people and immediately upon entering we were confronted by unusually rude staff members behind the front kiosk. As I was putting my mask on, one of the female employees goes "Do you have a mask?" I replied "Yes I'm putting it on now." And she goes on to say "Well you need to have it all the way on." With a very nasty attitude. My aunt stepped in to explain that I was obviously putting my mask on. The rest of our visit continued with unnecessarily rude and incomplete service from our waitress who argued with us about the seating arrangement. In all, this was a terrible place to come to in celebration of our relative's life. Not to mention the food wasn't even good. Literally none of the food was good. I would NOT RECCOMEND this restaurant to anybody looking for decent food and service. I will not be returning here if I can help. read more

I've been a loyal costumer for 25 years plus! Always impressed with staff , service , and endless food options! Sadly to say tonight February 2 2022. I don't fell the same. I understand Covid situation. But your late night crew fell well short! Arrived 8:15pm . Your hostess was polite, but dressed in flannel. She told waitress I was there and it took ten minutes before she even showed up. By the way there were only two other tables finished and ready leaving . When she asked me what I needed ten feet away I ask for a drink from the bar and continued with my order, she stop me immediately and walk away then came back say bar is closed. She took my order regardless like she didn't even care to be there! I also noticed one of your cleaning crew asking for help in front of costumers , hostess, waitress, and others stood there looking at each other. Some woman came around the corner and helped! I gave them both a ten Dollar tip for being hardest workers and team work! I did give a tip of another 10 dollars on my 25 bill , but only because your cook severed effectively and delicious! Plus at the end are waitress was more interested at the counter when I paid my bill to see what I paid when your hostess was walking out the door the same time as me! I'm giving a generous score because of loyalty, but if I was a first time visiting, I'd never come back! Please bring back what made you Special! read more

Just left here...1st time dining in since Covid...food was still good and Service was still slow. I'm glad to see them still stands because their catfish & eggs breakfast is still my favorite. Flavorful and filling!! read more

Decent late night eats. One of the few places open late at night on this side of town. We went here last night around 1am for breakfast. Forewarning: On 3rd shift you have to pre-pay for your food when eating in. We had the steak and eggs. It was decent and the service was great. Shout out to Tamika! I would come again. read more

Was there last night. I haven't been there in about 3 months. I usually love this place. Great good. Nice prices. Friendly service. However a few of those have changed. Prices after 10:30pm are ridiculous. Use to be if you add a cup of soup and fries to a sandwich it was an additional $2.00. Now it's $3.00 for fries and $2.50 for a cup soup. They also now have a new policies. If you are there after 10:30pm they make your pre pay before you get your food (which our waitress forgot to do. I would have walked out when I got total) and they automatically add a gratuity to your bill of 15% no matter how large your party. That right there annoys me. My bill was $13.00 I would normally leave a $3-$4 dollar tip but if you are just going to automatically add it in my bill then that's all J am tipping. And yes I know I could leave extra on my own but it was just annoyed. Now about the service. Our waitress was super friendly. However there were a few errors made. Things forgotten. I'm not going to totally fault her but I was charged for an item inever received. After talking with her and the hostess I did get that removed from my bill. The food was JUST OK. For the price it should of been better. I am going to have to think long and hard about going back. read more

I really like this little place. The food is what you expect from a Greek restaurant: pretty good, a little greasy & huge amounts. The prices are damn good for what you get. We've only ever had breakfast here, so I can recommend the omelettes, and the biscuits & gravy are delicious. The coffee is pretty good too. The staff is usually fairly friendly & the atmosphere is chill. read more

I went in for breakfast and everything was going well until I seen the waitress bringing out the food on her shoulder. Her hair was all over the food. When I explained to her that I didn't want the food she got an serious attitude. She didn't recognize her mistake and didn't apologize. I went to speak to the owner and he turned his back on me but his son took my complaint. The son did brush me off like it was no big deal. I went back to my table and my sister who i was dining with, didn't want to stay. So we got up and left but we did pay for the coffee and a 2.85 small cranberry juice. The owner came and got in my face and told me to never come back. I asked him why was he mad that I noticed his waitress hair was all over the food and she should be wearing a hair net. Service isn't great but the food is always delicious and fresh! They have a big variety of dishes it's hard to choose one!

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the gyro plate, and my boyfriend ordered the fajitas. Was a little disappointed that my gyros didn't have the cheese that I'm accustomed to being with them, but otherwise it was great. my boyfriend was very happy with the fajitas, while I was embarrassed as hell when they came out because the plate was loudly sizzling and smoking for at least five minutes after it arrived. all around decent atmosphere, although I'm wondering if the one rotting corn on the cob that was sitting on the windowsill was supposed to be there. read more

Greek restaurants are a dime a dozen in Milwaukee, and you pretty much expect to find good food, large portions, and reasonable prices as reliable features of even the mediocre ones. El Greco's exceeded expectations in each respect, offering great service and above-average food in a very pleasant restaurant that was clean, interesting, and obviously very popular with the locals. Lunch was so large that the leftovers came home as dinner, and my sandwich was just as good for dinner. read more

We use to make this a regular stop for breakfast, and that was many years ago. What has happened to that El Greco? While I found the staff friendly, the food was very disappointing. We came for lunch and the portions were small, not worth the price! Ordered a sandwich, no cole slaw, no pickles, The soup was extra and not very good. No bread basket or crackers. I've been here multiple times with my Mama. We always get great service, waitresses are always smiling and asking if everything is okay. The food is really good, the burgers here are huge =D the Shrimp Alfredo is really delicious too. To top it off the inside appearance of the restaurant is beautiful. There are statues, flowers, and while I leaned back in my booth with the itis, I noticed there was pretty clouds on the ceiling. read more

El Greco what's happened to you? We placed our orders and this happened, the food arrived: Nice large salad, good. But my soup was cold, not worth the bother. Then my order, 3 eight inch long breaded perch filets, browned to perfection. But so dry, that with each bite I needed tartar sauce and a drink of water. I called it quits after about ¼ of one filet. The next order four slices of meatloaf, about the same size as the large end of a 60-watt light bulb and about ¾ inch thick. The gravy was very thick and bland, the meatloaf was sort of crumbly and was obscenely salty (3 to 4 times what would be required in a meatloaf recipe). Large portions do not equal good taste. Who's doing the quality control in the kitchen? Was the head chef on vacation? The menu is huge. There's no way the kitchen can get out a quality entre on half of the items they've listed. This restaurant has been around forever and offers great food.But the place needs to be updated, clean the restrooms better, window seals, and vacuum. Ordered crepes w/omelet, was looking forward to it, until I saw a long piece of hair on the crepes. I didn't order anything else. Our waitress was nice, but her hair was all over the place.... could've been the kitchen's fault. If so, please make sure everyone wears hair nets. Besides the place needing a remodel, and better cleaning, the staff is very attentive and great food is here! read more

If there was a Greek restaurant run by the state prison system, this would be it. I haven't been here in about 8 years, and before that only during the day. Last night after some poker and cocktails, 4 friends and I decided to go out around midnight to get some breakfast. Not a ton of options in my area (Menomonee Falls) but someone suggested El Greco. I'm all for anywhere that is open 24/7 and serves breakfast all those same hours. So off we went. The first thing that should have told us to run was the sign on the door saying "Wait to Be Buzzed In". um, ok... well I guess the neighborhood might not be what it used to be and maybe they'd had troubles. After we entered, the 5 of us were seated at a table for 4. It was not even remotely busy so one of our group moved a chair from another table to ours. The first thing the waitress did was inform us that we would have to split up and 2 of us should sit at the empty booth across from our table with the other 3 remaining at the current table. What? We were confused as to why. When we inquired, she said "he" (meaning the owner maybe? it was never clarified) wanted the chairs to remain at their assigned tables. I understand, but possibly seat us at a larger table? We said we would stay as we were and the waitress went off to "see if it was ok" and came back granting our request. *whew* Why oh why didn't we leave then? Oh, right. Hunger. At this point I just wanted a cup of coffee, We were then informed that our orders would not be placed (not even coffee) until we paid. What? Apparently they've had much trouble with dine-and-dashers (do they still call it that?) We understood, but how can you ask someone to pay up front when they don't even know if the food will be ok? It's not McDonalds (but god I wish we were there) We asked for 3 separate checks and prepared to be punished, but she was amicable. So I placed my order so I could get the coffee and she said no, all of us had to have our orders in and our credit cards in her hand before I could get my coffee. Yikes. So everyone quickly ordered and handed over their credit cards. The waitress left, but not before pouring me a cup of watered down and weak two dollar and fifty cent decaf. Yay. Also noticed the note on the menu that they only give one coffee refill. What? Now that is cruel and unusual punishment! No constant topping off to insure it's warm? How sad. The credit cards were gone a while... We exchanged nervous glances and whispered protestation about this place's practices but hunger and the late hour held us captive. When they came back we noticed a 15% "service charge" on each. This was, apparently, a mandatory tip. So we had to decide whether to tip on top of that or not. None of us did - mostly because of the surly service and just the whole experience. One of our friends was so confused about everything, assuring us that she and her family gather there often for lunch and dinner and it is not like this and that food is always good. Of course we were skeptical. Finally the food! Huzzah! My eggs over easy were really sunny side up and not really cooked as much as I would have liked. The hash browns were quite good. My friends scrawny french toast looked like it was bought frozen and heated in the toaster. The one friend with the Denver omelette pronounced it "awful" and said that it was "too fluffy"....(apparently too much milk was used to scramble the eggs.....probably to get more platefuls from less eggs) Our stomachs were somewhat appeased, but we were angry we let ourselves be held hostage just for some mediocre food. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We felt totally mistrusted and more than a little scared. I don't think any of us would go back there - even during the day. Stopped in today to get some soup for my son who is ill. When I looked at the menu a bowl of soup cost $3.50. The girl at the desk wanted to charge me $4.50. She said the extra dollar was for tax. Who the fuck charges $1.00 tax on a $3.50 purchase? I also asked for two pieces of challah bread which they are known for, and I got two pieces. One piece cut in half. I had dinner with some of my friends. I had the fish fry and was delicious and the service excellent.

Gyro was very good! I would recommend it to anyone who is hungry. Also they have a large selection in their menu!
