Got in line to have dinner and as our party and 2 in front of us we're waiting. Getting close to close however all 3 parties were already in line to be seated. The Alishea comes to tell all parties that they are closing soon and even though we were all in line prior to them closing she said if we don't seat you before we close then you can't come in. So the two parties before us got seated then it came to our turn and 3 ladies in front didn't bust tables and just left it dirty then Alishea comes back and says sorry we're closed. I asked to speak to the manger and told him we had already been In Line like the other parties and he said well she told you right... that's a courtesy. So basically she did us a favor to say hey if we decide to not clean a table and wait to the last minute to close then we don't have to seat people even though they had been waiting. There was also tables available just needed to be cleaned off. But the 3 ladies didn't want to clean it. Cause it was almost time to close. Had their purses right there to pick up and just leave. (Picture) The manager didn't care to hear the customers here. Dropped the ball. To tell customers that they we're giving customers a courtesy by telling them wait in line but as soon as it hits 11pm tuff luck. So the servers can just hang around not clean tables and say oh it's 11pm I'm off bye. The manager Willow (believe that's how to spell it) said well we're busy in the back and we have a rotation so as long as she said when it's 11pm even though you have already been waiting then that's it. So I guess customers who come here have to know how busy and the rotation of this restaurant is in order to eat here. Horrible experience and manager dropped the ball. read more

My husband and I came here on NYE after our reservation at Cheesecake Factory was canceled due to weather. Everything was so bland. We ordered the El Jefe's margaritas and waters. Waiter brought out the margs and I had to ask for water a second time. When he brought out the waters I asked for chips and salsa. They never came. The margs were mediocre at best, tasted like a hard lemonade and not a marg at all. We were disappointed. Entrees come out. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito. Meat was bland, rice was cold, beans were bland. I ordered the shredded beef enchiladas. It tasted so basic. The beef wasn't flavorful, nor were the the rice and beans. If we weren't so hungry we would've sent it back and left. Bill comes. They've over charged us for guacamole and sour cream on the enchiladas, which I didn't ask for nor receive. We had a very good meal at this establishment. We were just strolling inside the casinos as we did not have any set agenda on what to do. So, when we knew Ian was going to get hungry we stopped at the closest restaurant, which happened to be El Jefe's. We were seated promptly. Chips and salsa were brought out promptly. Our waitress was super nice and very attentive. She got us extra chips, an extra plate, napkins, boxes etc. We ordered the following: Carne Asada Taco plate $13.95 Tequila Chicken Fajitas $13.00 Asada was super tender and very flavorful. Mexican rice that came along with the plate was also delicious. Chicken Fajitas were very good value for the money. I have never seen Fajita's priced below $15.00 at any other Mexican establishments. There was a lot of food that came with it. Beans were good, Guacamole tasted fresh, the tortillas were hot and decent sized to make a good taco. I can't say anything about the food, but the night life here is 10/10! The music was a hip-hop mix of new and older, with plenty of room to dance! Security was extremely present so that made me feel safe and secure. The line was fairly long, but that's honestly because it really is the place to be! Metal detector at the entryway which is a great precaution. Drinks were a bit pricy like any club, but not outrageous by any means, and they are really good. This is by far my favorite club in Reno. Located in a convenient spot, parking is less than a 10 minute walk inside (if you utilize the garage) the restrooms are only a few feet away, & food is also extremely close. read more

I am very surprised that El Jefe's has low ratings. This place has awesome customer service and my family and I enjoyed their food here. This restaurant is located at the Circus Circus in Reno. My dad, bro in law and I came down around 7pm on a Friday evening to order the food for the family. Our helper took our Togo order. This place was packed and there was no seating for my dad and I to wait along with the bro in law so we opted for the inside bar. While waiting I ordered a Malibu and Pine Apple, my dad got a beer and my bro in law got a Midori Sour. The drinks were dirt cheap here and the bartender was friendly. My dad bought us our drinks and informed my brother in law and I too keep it on the down low so the rest of the family members will not be jealous that we stared turning up before them. We waited at the bar for about 20 minutes until our food was ready. I ordered the Chicken Mole plate which was so cheesy and delicious very addictive. The beans and rice were delicious. The family liked their meals so much that they ordered from El Jefe's the next day as well. I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant as the Food is delicious and drinks are affordable. I was definitely not disappointed and even my nieces liked the food as well. If I find myself in Reno again, this is and will be my spot! You can't beat the prices, customer service and the drinks. Dinner with family before a concert at the Silver Legacy on a Friday night of a 3 day weekend. This area is commonly a high tourist based area located in the Circus Circus, Silver Legacy, El Dorado casino walkway and this time was no exception. El Jefe's Cantina is conjoined with a Japanese restaurant and has a bar and dinner seating area. El Jefe's Cantina serves Mexican bar food and Mexican food. I had just missed a super happy hour deal 3 street tacos for $6.00 so I opted to go a la carte with a carne asada and a carnitas taco. My son had a quesadilla and dad had a carne asada burrito. I was disappointed with my tacos as they were dry on a small corn tortilla and no garnishes. Throwing my son's guacamole on top of the tacos along with salsa made them easier to swallow. The burrito did look tasty but I did not partake. The environment was noisy and a couple of loud, inebriated fellows yelling at a sports game did not add a wow factor. The service was prompt, but I did notice that a couple of people left - maybe due to the loud customer at the bar. Pricing was fair. Probably not a repeat for me due to the environment. Great for visitors who want to limit their travel to downtown. read more

I was disappointed with the food here. I ordered an Asada burrito and a margarita. Both were over priced and subpar. The margarita was watery and not at all in the spectrum of flavors I would expect from even a cheap margarita. It tasted like powdered lime aid. The burrito was on par with a frozen burrito. It was loaded with beans and rice with the occasional cube of chewy beef. It was not Asada at all. To be fair, the street corn was pretty good and the service didn't blow my socks off but was acceptable. As is expected in the Cassino culture, there could be up to a half hour wait to get seated but the reward is certainly not worth the wait in this case. If I could do it again I would have gone to the food court, spent less and likely gotten a better meal. read more

Went into dance last weekend for my girl friend's birthday. Natalie the bartender was extremely rude. She cared more about serving people she seemed to know & when she took our order she gave us so much attitude. The thin bottle service girl with brown hair seemed really annoyed with us as well when we asked about bottle service. THE SERVICE HERE IS TERRIBLE. Ryan the manager is a dick, does not care about his customers at all. My friends and I waited an hour after we ordered and did not get our food. Our waiter was no where to be found and I had to get up and look for someone to call the manager. When the manager was notified I needed to talk to him, he took a phone call instead and made me wait. When finally coming to me, I explained my concerns that we have been waiting for a significant amount of time and other parties that came after us, even big parties got their food, he asked me who my waiter was and I said Jose. All he said was "he's right there". And did absolutely nothing. When asking why is it that other parties that came significantly after us got their food he dodged the question and basically said he couldn't do anything about it and being rude. I am never a person to complain and we waited for a significant amount of time and just wanted to know where our food was. All he cared about was his night club. This place used to be more reasonable when not owned by Caeser's Entertainment. They used to serve free chips and salsa, which was included with your entre. Now they are charging $10,99 for the same free mediocre chips and salsa. Most everything under Caeser's is marked up way to high and not worth the value. If you want good Mexican food in a casino, go to Western Village, which has Pancho and Willies Restaurant. They have a much better menu, food, and they don't gouge you for chips and salsa. We came here before attending a show inside the Silver Legacy Casino Resort, next to the Circus Circus. The menu has many options but not all your traditional Mexican options. For appetizers we ordered the fries which were very good and El Jefe wings which were not so good. They were very tiny and not much meat on the bones, for the price it wasn't worth it for sure. For my main entree I ordered the burrito for $15 and made it wet and chimichanga style for 2$ each upgrade making the burrito/chimichanga $19. It was stuffed with mostly rice and diced chicken which was very dry. I added grilled jalapeños but that didn't help the taste much. My friends ordered the steak, shrimp fajitas, which they said they wouldn't come back for. The fish taco was good however for $14 for two tacos again was not worth it. Overall, the atmosphere is nice they share a side space with a sushi bar which I have not tried yet but I probably will sometime. There are plenty of TVs which was cool to watch multiple games as they have them all. I think the food taste and quality could be improved and price needs to be reevaluated as it doesn't go with the options at all. A bit overpriced for the value. read more
