We had delicious shrimp tacos and a monstrous asada quesadilla with a trio of salsas -- loved the smoky version. Happy hour beer and margarita were refreshing. Place was not busy midday so enjoyed a relaxing, laid back atmosphere. Prices were very reasonable. Lunch experience- lunch and dinner menu/ portions are the same. First experience of their Relleno left me neutral. Could have used a bit more spice. The stuffed picadillo had some spicy bites and some that were only of the ground beef. I thought the salsa was OK. However, my try of the Pollo con Mole was a very fantastic treat. Well prepared Mole. Would have been better with a non-grilled chicken breast. I'll be returning for this dish alone! Looking forward to trying the Molcajetes and the seafood dishes. read more

The service here is outstanding! I sat outside until they open this for agreed in me, walked me over to my table. The food was outstanding he recommended guacamole, and the beef tacos. They were slow cook cooked and seasoned just right. I love eating here because it's not too salty. It's perfectly blended and if you need salt, you can just ask. I don't like high sodium food and every Mexican restaurant I go to is too salty. This one was perfect. The music is so lovely. I grew up around Mexicans back home in California and it makes me feel like I'm at home again. It's a wide space and the central bar right when you walk in looks beautiful the painting and the decor is outstanding. I can't wait to bring all of my family and friends here. read more

I was hoping to have a good dinner after driving for 6 hours. It was just an awful experience. The server was not friendly, she had no personality, seemed very irritated. Tried El Molcajete for the first time a few nights ago. Had a great experience. First of all, the service is 5/5. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Waiter gave great recommendations that the whole table enjoyed. Drinks and chips and salsa were never empty. Salsa was very good, seems homemade and had a nice amount of heat. The staff really works hard to make it a good meal. The food was slightly more expensive than some of the other similar places in town but the portions were very large and again some of the best customer service I've had in a long while. I tried the Carne en su jugo. Great flavor and enough for 2 meals. We will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I were so excited to try this place as it's close to our house. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing. We came in around 730 on a Friday night and it was quite empty. Waitress was very kind and quick to help us and answer any questions we had. The restaurant is a little empty in terms of decorations and it almost seemed a bit rushed to open in our opinion. Here was the biggest let down for me: the pollo con mole. This is absolutely one of my favorite dishes and I get it any restaurant we go to if it's available. The price was pretty steep for the amount of food you get to start. Chicken was not cooked in the mole, instead it was a sliced chicken breast cooked separately, over a bed of extremely dry Mexican rice, with mole sauce poured on top. Mind you, there was not much mole either so the entire dish was dry, dry, dry. Then with the side of tortillas that were very dry on top of it the whole experience was ruined. The tortillas appeared to be homemade, however if you took them out of the steamer basket for even a second they became hard and chewy almost immediately. Just overall extremely disappointing and unfortunately probably one of the worst pollo con mole dishes I've had in the TV. My husband had the birria tacos that he was decently happy with, mostly because they were packed full of meat. Drinks were mediocre; I won't discount them too much as the waitress told us they will be getting their liquor license in August, so no margaritas until then. Unfortunately as excited as we were for this new spot to become a favorite it was a far cry for us and we will be headed elsewhere. read more

As soon as I walked in... Juan greeted us with a hello... not just any hello but a handshake. When he sat us, I was happy he would be also serving us. My teenage son asked after his second helping of lemonade " does he think we are food Critics? Because he is taking such good care of us" I have been a server /bartender for more years than fingers and sometimes I forget it's all about wowing someone. We have been wanting to try this place, and came in mid afternoon 4:00 for a snack and brew after the movie. We ordered a chicken quesadilla. This thing was HUGE!! But to our surprise...there was hardly any meat and no cheese !! In the picture, this is actually what we got! The sour cream was runny, (I thought it was ranch dressing)!! It was pretty pathetic. I don't really know how you can mess up a quesadilla in a Mexican restaurant!! Won't go back.
