The empanadas were delicious and so was the linguini pasta. Both my wife and sister had the Costeletas de cerdo. The waitress was wonderful and had a friendly way of making us feel welcome. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was a party of 5 with a well behaved newborn.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Last time we were here was doing the coronavirus pandemic. My wife and I had to dine outdoors. We never forgot El Morfi Grill. Today we sadly learned that this establishment is closing to economics hard times . Too expensive to run a small Argentinian athentic restaurant in Glendale, CA, let alone on Brand Bl. Best wishes to the owner and the staff.

First of all the food was a must have. It's hard to find good Argentinian food and when you do this is the spot. The service is what you would expect from a small yet well known restaurant. We had the "Parrillada Para Dos," it was fantastic, giving a little more than "for two" but taking home left overs was no problem at all. To go with it, the "Guiso de Lentejas" hit the spot. I cannot wait to come back for more.

Sadly they closed permanently as of 2/15/2026. I just found this out today when my friend and I were planning to get together at El Morfi for lunch. This is a family run great Argentinian restaurant in the city of Glendale. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Foods, services, & ambience get all 5 stars in my opinions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My mother and I went in on a whim a few weeks ago and were not disappointed. The empanadas are absolutely delicious! The pastry was soft and fluffy while the filling was delicious and well-served. We ordered the churrasco, asado de tira, and spinach lasagna. The sauce on the lasagna was creamy and tasty without being overpowering. As for the meats, all were cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and super juicy. One of the best cut of meats I've had! The service can be a bit slow sometimes but considering this is a small-family run restaurant with only a handful of employees, it's completely understandable. Our server, Rene, was friendly and attentive and checked in on us frequently. Overall, a great experience and delicious food! If you get the chance or are in the area make sure you check out this neat little restaurant and support a small, family-run business! My recommendations: beef empanadas, asado de tira with garlic potatoes, sangria

I have always walked past by this restaurant but have never really tried it until today. After a long day at work, I decided to meet up with my mom and treat her here just because... My mom and I shared their housemade sangria which was so refreshing! We started with the ham and cheese empanada and chicken empanada. Both were such a delight especially if you add the chimichurri. We then ordered the Paella Valenciana and a plate of penne pasta with meat and red sauce. We got fooled because apparently the paella is good for two people but man that dish was big, hearty and for sure delicious. I loved how they were super generous with the fresh seafood. The plate of pasta was also very delicious and is also good for sharing.

Lovely, family-owned restaurant on Brand in Glendale. Who knew there was authentic Argentinian food in the valley that wasn't just meat skewers and tourists? Get there early, order the sangria and settle in for simple, home made fare. We started with the empanadas (must try) and shared the angus steak and chopped salad. Saved room for the flan (also home made) which was simple, tasty and filling. Others have commented on the service. For me, that's always a downside in family run places, I.e., just not enough people working. But the upside is you get to feel welcomed by someone who cares and knows the food coming out of the kitchen. Our server was clearly the mom and kept telling us "home made!" So sit back, relax and just enjoy!

Ordered half a dozen empanadas on the fly after a workout up the street. Service was prompt, friendly, the place sparkles (and decor is a little more fine dining than you might imagine on the inside), and the empanadas were fresh and delish. Decent place for Argentinian food here in Glendale. It's been around for a very long time and consistency looks like it's key. We started off with the provoleta. Meted provolone cheese with spices melted in a cast iron skillet. Tasty! 5/5 Capresse salad was standard. Good size for sharing. Tomatoes and mozzarella were fresh. 5/5 Moved on to the chicken Picata. This was just ok. Thin chicken breast lightly breaded with a lemon sauce served with spaghetti and marinara. Ehhhh chicken was a little dry and the sauce was more tart than flavorful. 3/5 Eggplant parmigiana was good. Not amazing. Been to a few traditional Italian places that made it better. For $15 it could have been better. Service was great though! It's worth a try if you're in Glendale and don't forget to check out the happy hour specials. read more

What happened to the service at this place? I used to come here with my family and we would always get great service. Perhaps they were having a bad day because we received one of the worst service of our life (if you can even call it that!) first we walk in, the server sticks her head out and says you want to take that table on the corner? Ugh sure. Then we sat there waiting for someone to take our order. I had to wave someone down. She took our order and never brought us our waters or pan and chimichurri . I had to then again ask the server if she can bring us our waters and pan. It was insane how they were straight up ignoring us! The only time the server was slightly attentive was when she dropped off the check and picked it up-of course. We also wanted to order some empanadas to go and had told the server but she forgot and honestly we wanted to get out of there so bad. Ir felt like we were being rushed out of there!! Just so so bad! I don't feel like going back here at least for a while and it's sad because like I said I used to come here all the time with my family and my sister lives down the street! read more

I love all their food! Especially the empanadas!!! They are the best! Nothing beats Argentine empanadas, from El Morfi. I love the spinach ones, the mushroom and mascarpone, the beef ones, the onion & cheeses, the cheese ones, & the chicken ones. I also love their pizzas , they are made with fresh ingredients, & those pizzas have a very special taste! Love their steaks with bread & chimichurri, and their pastas! They also have the best service.. usually greeted by the owner! A very kind, honest friendly man, whom I have known for over 30 years by going there!! Literally the best place to eat! Good location, right in the heart of Brand Blvd.! They deserve 7 stars!! read more

If I could eat Argentinian empanadas with chimichurri sauce for the rest of my life, I would do it! All of the empanadas they have here are delicious. My two favorites are the spicy beef and spinach. The empanadas are $2 each, but they are a very good size and I get full from eating 3. The best part is the chimichurri sauce, which I slather on every single bite. However, this is an extra cost... you can buy small containers for .50 cents each or buy a jar for around $5. I buy the jar because I love it so much. There is a parking structure in the back on orange street with an hour and a half free parking. read more

We visited El Morfi Grill and were very delighted with the Argentinian Parrillada we ordered. We asked for medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection, the taste of the cuts were delicious. The Chimichurri, to accompany it all, was perfectly made and enhancement the flavors to maximum savor. We had a glass of Malbec wine, recommended by the server, and we were in paradise having the best lunch in quite a while. To top it all off, for dessert we had Crepes with dulce de leche and Tiramisu. If in Glendale, pay a visit to this great Argentinian restaurant and try it for yourselves, you'll be glad you did. read more

I used to be a fan of this place's empanadas, but I recently got so dissapointed in them, even my parents mentioned they weren't as before. First of all, they took forever for my order of 3 beef and 3 chicken empanadas when the place wasn't even busy. One of the girls on the front was so into fixing to-go plates that she didn't even offer me a sauce to accompany my empanadas with, the other one just gave me my order and that's it. I thought they've had put some, in my order box; but nothing just my empanadas. I remembered in the past the empanada order came with a chimichurri sauce. Good thing I had made garlic sauce at home recently 'cause the empanadas needed something to dip them in, as they were dry. I don't think I'm coming back anytime soon. read more

What an experience great for dates romantic and beautiful upscale design and a great to catch up with your family and friends. The best steak I've had in California! Best service even the was special kind and refined. The Ambience was truly comfortable and if you want to pair with wine El Morfi,s got you u. Ample space for a great time and the restaurant is a great way to escape the summer heat. Large selection of soups win sodas that even come from Brazil. I vouge for luxurious restaurant great atmosphere as they say on their business card their main ingredient in their food is "lots of love" like the movie Serendipity. I tried the steak today. The New York steak. The best meat/steak in Glendale, Los Angeles. Omg. Good by itself. No steak sauce needed. Tender and delicious. Their private selection Malbec is also the best I've had in Cali. This restaurant is good all over. Third time here. Doesn't disappoint. Excellent. read more

NOT RECOMMENDED! $$$$$ From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a man who could have been possibly the owner or the manager. He was extremely pushy, rude and completely obnoxious from the get go and the waitress acted like she didn't wanna be bothered with us. Something told me to leave but instead of doing it I decided not to. For the sake of the family of course. They we're we're excited about going to an Argentinian restaurant for the empanadas and of course and the beef. Here we are ready to have a nice family meal for five. One being a child of five . So my wife, my son and I ordered a steak ($38.00) each. Expecting a delicious meal what we got was slab of meat each with garlic potatoes, which had no garlic taste whatsoever. No vegetables, no salad or soup that's it. Which is stated in the menu, I'll give you that. We also ordered the deep fried squid and empanadas. And that's where it ended. Well the taste of the potatoes was not very good, and the steaks were bland. My daughter-in-law ordered Fettuccine Alfredo and Spaghetti and meat sauce for our grandchild. Which my daughter-in-law stated it wasn't too bad but how can you screw up Spaghetti or Fetuchini right. All in all, the service and portions we're terrible except for the appetizers and the pasta. The empanadas we're OK . As you probably have already deducted. The the food was so, so. Nothing to write home about. I'm writing this review so that you may avoid the grief of of getting ripped off and having a bad experience. Everything was bad. The service, the food and the portions. I'm not one to write reviews or bash an establishment. But this place definitely deserves two thumbs down. The whole experience was very BAD! Not to mention how much I paid, which was a total of $300.00. No cocktails just ice teas coke and water. Do not get me wrong. I don't mind paying for a good meal. We eat out a lot but this was like flushing money down the toilet. It definitely goes without saying we will never be back. P.S. Now I know why the restaurant was empty, except for two people that were there eating. . read more

The service was terrible, place is understaffed and the man that works there made very rude comments towards us. we ordered one thing and he tried to push another item on the menu, he tried to push dessert as well and I told him I am a vegetarian and won't do any dairy desserts he said all his vegetarian friends were FAT (yes! He used that word) then he asked if it was our first time and upon knowing that we had been there years ago he said there was no use in giving good service b/c we were not regulars. Lastly we overpaid for bad empanadas and a decent steak and when we checked our credit card charge online at home it was doubled. I will definitely not go back. read more

Truly wonderful place with extremely flavorful food. Tremendous service with very friendly and personable waiters. They also serve fresh bread with your order and it's truly lovely. I had appetizers of spicy beef empanada, chicken empanada, and chorizo--all incredible. And the chimchurri sauce they give you with every dish is to die for. Highly highly recommend! Argentinian food in the heart of Glendale can be a bit off, since it is more known for portos and Persian food. I was suggested to come here so we can celebrate mothers day. They wanted Argentinan food, and this was the closest location. The place was crowded with only groups, the service was great, the food was okay, but still had major bumps. EMPANADAS: We tried the beef and chicken empanadas. They had a case filled with empanadas when we first arrived, but by the time we left, the case was empty. The beef was good, it wasn't oily or dry. The only thing is that the beef was a bit under seasoned, so It didn't have much flavor. The chicken Empanada was better with flavor, but the meat was a bit dry. Hit or miss I would think. PARRILLADA PARA DOS: Ok so I get the concept that this is meant for two people. When I saw this, it wasn't as much meat as I thought. The meat was good, tender, but a bit over charcoaled. It came with one skirtsteak, two short ribs, one chorizo, one black sausage, and beaten down chicken. For something that cost 60 bucks each, I was expecting MORE. At least two of everything at least right?! SIDES: We had a few sides from two styles of rice and fries. The rice was good. It was light and fluffy. The fries on the other hand was just plain gross. It was cooked in old oil or the fries was just old. Either way, no one ate it except my niece who just didn't care that it was old and ate it. SANGRIA: I can say I LOVED this! There was no fruits or anything inside, but it wasn't dry at all. It was really really sweet and couldn't even taste the wine at all. It was more like fruit punch, but I am not a big fan of wine so maybe that's why I liked it. DRINKS: We had tons of drinks from beer, wine, to soft drinks like soda, lemonade, and tea. The lemonade was off, we couldn't figure out why. The sugar wasn't blended well enough where the particles would separate. Other then that, the other drinks were fine. SERVICE: Great great service, but not realizing that they added about 20% tip from the bill, I am sure she tried so we had great service! All in all, would I ever come back? Ummmm...NO! The food was fine, but wasn't that impressed. At the same time, the prices was just really overpriced for the amount of food. We ordered two parrillada para dos, 6 empanada, drinks from beer - soft drinks - one sangria, 3 sides, and one entrée for about $350! I think that's just really ridiculous. Also, when I got there, there was a waitress (I think) who questioned me about why I am sitting at the table, and if I was even with the party. I was taken back, until our waitress told her that I was with the party. I guess an asian person can't sit on a reserved table thats under a hispanic name without being questioned of why am i even sitting on the table. So if you want Argentinian food, go to the valley. read more

I wanted to leave this here because I love to say something good, honest and overall positive about a place were I go. Definitely I have to start saying that the person who came out to me and my family and who was waitress to us was really nice man, explaining us all about the menu which was really great to me seeing so many options for lunch. We decided to order two pizzas, and some empanadas to my wife. The pizzas were really good, specially the dough was incredible! The "Fugazeta" was amazing!! So tasty and delicious!! The empanadas I have to say was good, but maybe I have had tried better ones! All the service was really good, and I highly recommend this place. The kindness of the waiter was excellent! So this review will be solely on empanadas. EMPANADAS & SERVICE They have 4 to choose from. Spicy beef, beef, spinach, and chicken. When a customer tells you one thing and then does not get it correct, it just doesn't make the restaurant look good. They seemed a bit money hungry to me. But I understand they need to make money bc they only had like 2 customers eating inside. But still.. I found it sneaky that she did that. The service was terrible. Waited 10-15 minutes and nothing. They were not busy at all and I had to ask for my food to be served to me. If he's not in the front, he's busy doing the office work of the restaurant. You may also experience the family hospitality from his wife, sister, or daughter. Along with his close friends of the family that are employed in this restaurant as servers, runners and chefs for many years now.

There were 2 Bartenders and what looked to be a bar back on with no guests to our side of the bar, but 3 guests sat on the other side of the pillar with food already down. We sat there without being offered menus, waters, cocktails, or even a hello, for nearly 10 minutes before I got the attention of the female bartender who seemed a little unhappy about having to stop washing dishes to bring us menus. We ordered drinks with her and looked over the menu. Well, now that she knew we were there, certainly, we'd get service, right? Nope, not once did she check if we were ready to order, nor did the other bartender or the bar back. But one of them did go joke with the 3 gentleman on the other side. I again called her over letting her know we were ready to order apps and she put those in. We didn't get one of them because we asked about a specific ingredient being inside one and she didn't know so she asked the other bartender who said, no, there shouldn't be. Then with all certainty she came and told us no, the ingredient wasn't in there... at no point did she think to ask a manager or chef, even after I asked if she was sure. Anyway, she didn't come back to see if we were ready to order entrees before the apps came out. Honestly the 2 stars on service was for the exceptional food runner who put our food down and immediately saw we were not even set up with utensils or plates and he immediately went to the bartenders and told them to grab them for us... at least someone cared. The side plates took a second because they only had 1, and it was dirty (we know because they first gave it to us before we pointed it out), but then the male bartender got us clean ones. We then asked if someone could take our entree order when they had a second. Oh, and I should point out that a lady sat next to us, she immediately received a menu, utensils and had her full order in before she came over to check on us. By the time the entrées came out, we were kind of over it and were just glad to have food. At some point while eating, I flagged her for another drink, at this point she asked if we by chance wanted any bread... there's bread? Um, yes, we do please. (this would have been so great while we were waiting). Anyway, I was really looking forward to eating here and was so disappointed that no one really seemed to want to provide us service. Thank goodness the world cup was playing because otherwise we would have just been staring at a wall. The food was good, but I really hope the bar hospitality doesn't reflect the entire team.

I have debated giving El Morfi Grill a 2 star, but the food was so damn good I'm regretting not giving it a 5 star. My wife and I walked in and found it was happy hour.. perfect! We ordered a beer and 3 appetizers. Two of our appetizers came out quickly(chorizo and hongos al ajo) and the two dishes were AMAZING. Shortly after, we were served our main dishes (napolitana and entrana). We asked our server where our third appetizer was and she said, "no you can't order happy hour appetizers because it's past 7". My wife and I replied we had ordered the appetizer with the other two, but she insisted we did not and rushed over to show us what she had written down to prove to us that we did not order it. She then proceeded to ask if we still wanted the order - my mood had been ruined at this point and it almost felt like I was begging for the happy hour $6 Matambre ($6 hh price vs $12 regular). I am no bum. Anyway, my wife and I decided to forget about it and enjoy date night - our first bites of each of our orders were delicious! Unfortunately, the server came back with the Matambre and said, "here you go", almost as if she was forced to do it... ruining the mood again. "Nice restaurant"? My friends and I went there on Sat nite, and there were more servers than there were customers. Even when we left (around 9:45), the place was STILL empty. What does that tell u? The food is just blah. I think i could've made better ravioli at home. And don't get chicken consomme.. it's not soup. It's water flavored with chicken. I think I've seen more chicken in a can of Campbell's chicken soup. $5 bucks for better. What a rip off. Plates go for $11 - $40 (most of the pastas are in 10-20 range). Kinda pricey considering it's friggin' Glendale. AS far as service.. I am not sure if it's an grumpy-italian-lady-server thing or what, but she looked annoyed even seating us when we got there. She reminded me of old version of Fran from the TV show The Nanny.. except wrinklier, fatter, and not so hot... why? b/c she had that annoying voice and even more annoying serving attitude. Exceptional Argentine Experience at El Morfi What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked in, Ruth was absolutely enchanting - she's a phenomenal hostess who made us feel like family. We ordered the parrillada for two with sangria, and everything was perfection. The live tango music created such an enticing atmosphere that transported us straight to a bodegon in Argentina. It truly felt like being at a family gathering, enjoying a traditional asado in someone's home. The authenticity was remarkable. Ruth is definitely an asset to this restaurant - her warmth and hospitality elevated our entire evening. And let me tell you, the flan was absolutely delicious! Thank you for such wonderful attention to detail and service. A+ experience all around - we will absolutely be back! We go to Glendale regularly and always eat at the same places. saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try, and we are so glad we did. The service was excellent, the waiter was informative and helpful in helping us choose our meal, the food was great, the place looks elegant, but at the same time is warm and welcoming and you can see is a busy place. Now we have a different and good place to eat and we are very pleased. Tried the Argentinean parrillada and it was delicious along with the mojo potatoes and exquisite salad.........See you next time... read more

well this is my first review well i just moved to Glendale and i want to check my options so on last Friday i decide to eat at this Argentinian restaurant, the service was average i can not complain about on the thinks i would is the food i order empanadas as appetizer the meat was very dry and didn't taste that good. i though i was going to be impress by their meat that's what Argentina people are know for so i ordered and was a little over cook and didn' taste that good. if i go back again i hope the have improve read more

El morfi restaurant has been more than just a place to eat -- it's been our second home. The food has always been delicious, and the personal, heartfelt service made every visit feel special. We've celebrated birthdays, graduations, and so many family memories here, and hearing that it's closing is truly heartbreaking. Are you all guys Peronistas? Maybe government employees? This restaurant reminds me of them. Nobody wants to work, nobody wants to do anything. All this happens while I am desperate to order wine. Not sure the wait staff is supposed to know it, but the guests are supposed to receive their drinks with or before the food. But please do not bring it an hour after we are all done eating and pretend that nothing happened. read more

Great place! Great food! We went there for Sunday's dinner and ordered a meat sample plate. they put a small grill on our table and the food basically was made on our table. Very soft and fresh meat, cool yammy sausages. Nice Argentinian wine. Service is good too. I think that this place could make much more money if they redesign a whole space. The have luxury food but the ambience of this place is very casual. read more

Early lunch with friend who recommended for great Argentinian affair. Great patio seating with a smiling and friendly server. Complementary bread and Chimichurri. Ordered the spicy beef and chicken Empanada. Good size, crisp and flavorful stuffing's. Main course was the Entrant and AS ado De Tara, medium done. Steak was juicy and flavorful. Great quality food with fresh ingriditents. I never get diarrhea after I eat there. Most places with unsanitary conditions will do that to you. I like the clean kitcen and the food is always consistent. read more
