Yum yum yum!!! I visited once and now it's been 3 times since discovered last month. Northgate has so much to offer. The Churreria specifically has delicious churros, hot cocoa, and dipping sauces. I like to get the churro bites and 2-3 sauces to enjoy. There's a seasonal sauce right now guava which is delicious! I'm a chocoholic and always have to get a chocolate and caramel sauce. The line gets very long, as it should, since it is so popular. Once your order is in, you'll have time to wander the bakery and gifts sections to kill time. Personally, I like to watch the staff make the churros. It's fun to see how the magic happens with the machines and twirling. Northgate is great for everyone! It's huge, plenty of seating and even family friendly. Often folks go to the tv/dj area with multigenerational families to enjoy whatever big sporting event is on. The service here is a 3 stars for me but the churros are good. The guy working the counter was kind of rude. No hello or anything. Just awkward silence. I got the combo, which consists of 4 churros, a hot chocolate and dipping sauce. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to choose the type of hot chocolate but he didn't ask. He also didn't ask what type of dipping sauce I wanted. There weren't any customers either, so it's not like they were busy. The churros were made fresh and tasted great except there were some pieces that tasted gummy/still raw. It's crispy and the sugar isn't too sweet. The hot chocolate was pretty good but very sweet. It is also scorching hot. I burnt my mouth twice trying to drink it. The sauce - I wasn't handed or asked what type of sauce I wanted. I had to ask for the sauce, which I was redirected to the ordering counter where there was a stack. Would have been nice if they had just given it to me or asked what I wanted. There's no labels or signs at all and I blindly chose what I assumed to be the cajeta- caramel but it didn't taste like caramel. At first I thought it was expired due to the sour taste, but after tasting it again a few times, it tasted like apple sauce? One word: YUM! Love coming to Northgate, and it's even better with a sweet treat in hand. El Moro is my go to spot if I'm looking for churros when I'm in South OC. Their stand is across from the bakery within the Northgate but they also have their own entrance if you don't want to walk through the hustle and bustle of the market. Decorated almost entirely with small tiles, it is a really cute place that's slinging out great churros. All you gotta do is order at a window where a cashier will take down your order and then wait in the side for your freshly made churros. I'm always down for a classic churro hot chocolate combo (French is my preference for the richness) but if you're trying to beat the heat, you can't go wrong with condensed milk either. The churros here are amazing! Really appreciate how they make the and it was great that they came out hot. They have other items on their menu too that I'm excited to try next time I come here. There was a decent line when I came here, but the wait wasn't long. I noticed a lot of people who came here buy in bulk, which was very interesting. It made me wondered if these churros are good when reheated. I only got the smallest order since I wanted to try them fresh, but I might order more next time to see how they reheat. The location itself is inside the Northgate Market, which is very nice. It's nice to go shopping and treat oneself to some fresh churros. The parking lot is also very big so no issues with parking. Date of Visit: 6/7/26 Time of Visit: 1:30pm We were in Orange County and craved some fresh churros. My wife had heard about a churro place inside of a very large Gonzalez Supermarket in Costa Mesa. We walked into the market, and it was absolutely huge! It resembled a food hall inside of a regular market. We travelled through the store and made our way to the churro stand, which was right next to the market's bakery. After waiting in line for a few minutes, I ordered the churro bites since it easy to share with my wife. After paying for the churros, you can actually watch at the window the process in wish the churros are fried up. It was a sight to see for sure. The churros bites were super hot and fresh. The server totally blanketed our bites with yummy cinnamon sugar. Each churro bite was a crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was really, really good. I will want to try the full size churros next time for sure, and perhaps try some dipping sauces. Cute churro shop in Northgate! It alwaysssss has a line so we decided to try it. They have seasonal flavors and snacks which look so good. During Christmas, they had gingerbread churros with egg nog ice cream! We came today for the mango ice cream sandwich but ended up doing chocolate. The sandwich itself was super doughey and undercooked. It was dripping oil and was so hot that it made the ice cream melt fast. There's usually a line for these, which means they're constantly churning them out so you're basically guaranteed a hot, crispy churro the moment you order. They are decently sized too, well over a foot long, though they have minis available if you're feeling modest (no judgment). The dipping sauces are a great addition to the churros. The dark chocolate has this unexpected blueberry-ish, fruity vibe that sounds weird but somehow pairs *perfectly* with the sweetness of the churro. They also have condensed milk, caramelized milk, and caramel if chocolate isn't your thing (thought I highly recommend the chocolate!) Bonus points for the tables if waiting until you get home to enjoy the churros may be too difficult: after all, the point of these is to have them as fresh as they come. As someone who has spent years going to the churro truck on Lorena and Whittier in Boyle Heights, I was eager to see how it compared. Unfortunately, I left extremely disappointed. The churro itself was bland and lacked the flavor and warmth that make a great churro memorable. While I understand the vegan approach, the churro, being the star seemed to rely entirely on the dipping sauces for flavor. The star of the experience should be the churro itself...not the dip. The traditional cinnamon and sugar flavor that most people associate with an authentic churro was simply missing. The recipe may come from tradition, but the execution falls short of delivering the authentic experience it promises. In my opinion, the restaurant's popularity is driven more by the appeal of its Mexico City roots and prime location than by the quality of the churros themselves. I wanted to love it. Its modern and minimalistic design drew our attention, reminiscent of Disneyland even to their open kitchen concept where you can see through the glass panes what they're doing. We had to try a churro. We got their seasonal flavor which is a gingerbread flavor for $3.50. IT WAS SO GOOD. Light and fluffy churro, not hefty, not dense, not rich. I see why you can pair it with a dip. We're not sure how to describe the exact notes and flavor of the gingerbread because it isn't what we expected when we heard "gingerbread" but the flavor was gooood. Would 10/10 get again. My favorite churros! I was so excited this was opening in Costa Mesa as I've been to the original in Mexico City. It's located inside Northgate Market and if you walk in on the left entrance. There can be a line since it's a popular spot but things move quickly. You can also order ahead online but I always just order in person since I go during off peak hours. I order 4 churros and that's a good amount for myself and another person to enjoy. I've tried the hot chocolate and it's very rich and creamy. I've also had the chocolate dipping sauce which is good and not too sweet but I enjoy the churros by itself. They always come out super fresh and dipped on cinnamon sugar. Located inside a giant Northgate Market, this churro place really has some of the best churros. It's all freshly made with a light and airy dough which is just sooo magical with that light crisp on the outside. We only got the small size since we ate so much food from the stalls inside the market, but even when full, I wished we got more. There's also a whole list of chocolate drinks. We got the champurrado which is a traditional drink of chocolate mixed with masa harina. It was a thick drink packed with cinnamon and other spices. While unique, I think I'll go for a regular chocolate drink next time to really get the cacao flavor. Lines are usually pretty long on the weekends, but it's fast since they only have a few menu items, just different variations. What happened to this place? As a Mexico City native, I was over the moon when I heard that el Moro was coming to the OC and even got emotional the first time I visited when they first opened, brought me back to my childhood. The people were friendly and the Churros were delicious! Fast forward to today 5/5/26....haven visited for a while but what happened? All the friendly experts are gone. The people working there don't know what they are doing at all, the line was relatively short, about 4 people in front of me, but somehow it took longer than it did before. I placed my order with sugar only, no cinnamon, like I have since I was a child. The person at the window calls my name and hands me a bag, I check the churros they have cinnamon, I explained that I ordered with sugar only. She rolls her eyes and hands me another bag with plain/naked churros, no sugar. I again explain to her that I ordered churros with sugar but without cinnamon. She "dumps" the churros out of the bag into the sugar, breaking one of them, I asked her to replace the broken one, I again get attitude and flips me off when she thinks I'm not looking. This is not the service I am used to from Le Moro or Northgate. I do have to say that every other employee of the store was helpful and friendly, but employees at El Moro need additional training. I wonder if all the good ones were pulled to their new location in LA. I will have to find out, even if I have to drive you won't see me standing in line at this El Moro again. It's a shame that such a wonderful jewel brought from Mexico is not being managed to their reputation. Sad read more
