I usually ask for no sugar since their choux pastry dough is just right- specially when you get the churros with the español coco- perfect nice thick dipping hot cocoa with the right amount of bitterness and sweet. Truly the only way to eat churros- enjoying the simplicity of the light and airy crunch pastry and the rich bitter-sweet chocolate. We stopped by the location at the Mercado Market- the place was amazing and truly worth a visit. The stall was located across the market's bakery. You have a view of the people cooking the churros and preparing your order. Given that the stall in inside the market, it was vibrant and lively. The only way to have a churro is a fresh churro, so if you're not getting these churros fresh out of the fryer, are you even living? There's usually a line for these, which means they're constantly churning them out so you're basically guaranteed a hot, crispy churro the moment you order. They are decently sized too, well over a foot long, though they have minis available if you're feeling modest (no judgment). The dipping sauces are a great addition to the churros. The dark chocolate has this unexpected blueberry-ish, fruity vibe that sounds weird but somehow pairs *perfectly* with the sweetness of the churro. They also have condensed milk, caramelized milk, and caramel if chocolate isn't your thing (thought I highly recommend the chocolate!) Bonus points for the tables if waiting until you get home to enjoy the churros may be too difficult: after all, the point of these is to have them as fresh as they come. They also have hot chocolate and other treats, but the churros is what I came for. Cute churro shop in Northgate! It alwaysssss has a line so we decided to try it. They have seasonal flavors and snacks which look so good. During Christmas, they had gingerbread churros with egg nog ice cream! We came today for the mango ice cream sandwich but ended up doing chocolate. The sandwich itself was super doughey and undercooked. It was dripping oil and was so hot that it made the ice cream melt fast. We had a churro with white chocolate sugar and dipped it into caramel, chocolate, and condensed milk. These churro is nothing special and took way too long to make. I waited about 15 mins for this. They're not frying enough churros in the oil and the employees seem either new or really slow. There was a crowd waiting and some even had their orders messed up. Its modern and minimalistic design drew our attention, reminiscent of Disneyland even to their open kitchen concept where you can see through the glass panes what they're doing. We had to try a churro. We got their seasonal flavor which is a gingerbread flavor for $3.50. IT WAS SO GOOD. Light and fluffy churro, not hefty, not dense, not rich. I see why you can pair it with a dip. We're not sure how to describe the exact notes and flavor of the gingerbread because it isn't what we expected when we heard "gingerbread" but the flavor was gooood. Would 10/10 get again. What happened to this place? As a Mexico City native, I was over the moon when I heard that el Moro was coming to the OC and even got emotional the first time I visited when they first opened, brought me back to my childhood. The people were friendly and the Churros were delicious! Fast forward to today 5/5/26....haven visited for a while but what happened? All the friendly experts are gone. The people working there don't know what they are doing at all, the line was relatively short, about 4 people in front of me, but somehow it took longer than it did before. I placed my order with sugar only, no cinnamon, like I have since I was a child. The person at the window calls my name and hands me a bag, I check the churros they have cinnamon, I explained that I ordered with sugar only. She rolls her eyes and hands me another bag with plain/naked churros, no sugar. I again explain to her that I ordered churros with sugar but without cinnamon. She "dumps" the churros out of the bag into the sugar, breaking one of them, I asked her to replace the broken one, I again get attitude and flips me off when she thinks I'm not looking. This is not the service I am used to from Le Moro or Northgate. I do have to say that every other employee of the store was helpful and friendly, but employees at El Moro need additional training. I wonder if all the good ones were pulled to their new location in LA. I will have to find out, even if I have to drive you won't see me standing in line at this El Moro again. It's a shame that such a wonderful jewel brought from Mexico is not being managed to their reputation. Sad read more

My favorite churros! I was so excited this was opening in Costa Mesa as I've been to the original in Mexico City. It's located inside Northgate Market and if you walk in on the left entrance. There can be a line since it's a popular spot but things move quickly. You can also order ahead online but I always just order in person since I go during off peak hours. I order 4 churros and that's a good amount for myself and another person to enjoy. I've tried the hot chocolate and it's very rich and creamy. I've also had the chocolate dipping sauce which is good and not too sweet but I enjoy the churros by itself. They always come out super fresh and dipped on cinnamon sugar. I was at the bakery and went for the pan dulce Mexican bread and I skipped the churros big mistake anyways today I'm back and I had to stop here. Wow these are so delicious made it to order. Fun fact, Churros are actually eaten for breakfast in Spain. Rest assured, don't expect the chewy, stale, hard to bite churros. The ones that have overly sweet, artificial fillings. You won't find those subpar churros here. This authentic Mexico City chain is located inside Northgate Supermercado, you can enter quickly through the left door facing the store, away from the Main Street. I had been wanting to try El Moro Churreria for awhile, but there's always a pretty long line. I finally tried it a couple weeks ago and I wasn't the biggest fan. This churreria is inside Mercado Gonzalez and there was a long line the day I went. I think my expectations were high because of the long line. I ordered one churro with 3 dipping sauces. I chose the guava, Nutella, and condensed milk dipping sauces. After waiting in the long line to order, you have to wait longer for your order to come out. They call out your name when your order is ready. The churro was ok. It was pretty skinny and I felt that it didn't have a lot of flavor. It was missing more sugar/ cinnamon around it. Out of the dipping sauces, my favorite was the guava. I had been wanting to try their coffee as well and I was trying to decide between ordering the cafe de olla or the lechero coffee. The cashier let me know that the cafe de olla was sweeter so I ordered that one. It was super bitter unfortunately to the point where I couldn't drink it. They do have creamer and sugar there, but even after adding that, it was still bitter. I had to add some coconut creamer to it at home to fix it. Waiting in that long line just wasn't worth it imo. Located inside a giant Northgate Market, this churro place really has some of the best churros. It's all freshly made with a light and airy dough which is just sooo magical with that light crisp on the outside. We only got the small size since we ate so much food from the stalls inside the market, but even when full, I wished we got more. There's also a whole list of chocolate drinks. We got the champurrado which is a traditional drink of chocolate mixed with masa harina. It was a thick drink packed with cinnamon and other spices. While unique, I think I'll go for a regular chocolate drink next time to really get the cacao flavor. Lines are usually pretty long on the weekends, but it's fast since they only have a few menu items, just different variations. Don't be afraid of the line as it does go pretty quickly or because it sometimes goes down you can always go through the other parts of the Mercado and then maybe come back 10 or 15 minutes later . I went around 8pm on a Tuesday and I was so lively. The line goes by fast to order. The service is so nice for how busy they are. I ordered the 4 churro pack and then said we get an extra for free! They even added the little bits to our bag. We tried the chocolate/hazelnut and guava dipping sauce. My group surprisingly preferred the guava better because it helped cut some of the sweetness of the cinnamon sugar. Compared to Disneyland churros I would say the pricing was very much worth it. I finally tried this churro bar and it didn't disappoint. They are located in the Northgate grocery store. The line was long but, they work quick to get it down. I ordered the Moritos which are bite sized churros in a cup and it can easily be shared with 2 people. For dipping, I ordered the cajeta and guava sauces which I loved! The churros are absolutely delicious and have the perfect texture. My son ordered the churro ice cream sandwich and it was amazing. The ice cream is on another level when it comes to flavor too. BOMB fresh churros, the original location is in Mexico City and they've been open since 1935. I love the neat uniforms and clean kitchen area which you can view as you are in line. The first time I saw a fresh churro spiral being made was on YouTube and I immediately went to Don Churros Gomez after. That place is traditional and a bit more new school, El Moro feels like you are eating history. Watching the giant spiral being taken out of the oil and cut is part of the experience here. If you've never had a fresh churro do yourself a favor and come here, it's much more airy and light when fresh and the taste is stellar.
