Took a party of nine to dinner at El Nuevo Mexico at Wolf Ranch and I had the best ground beef quesadilla ever! Flour tortillas were obviously homemade and nicely crisped. The pick de gallo was also fresh and perfectly spiced....not too much....not too little. My husband had stuffed avacado with chicken and cheese coated with delicious spices and lightly fried which he highly recommends. Service was excellent from busboys, to drink waitress to tall, handsome excellent waiter. Others enjoyed other menu choices too, so much so that our group is returning to try breakfast tomorrow! New restaurant in Georgetown and it's sooooo good!! First off, super nice people and great service. Salsa and chips are excellent. Margaritas are great. Try the mangonada with chimoya in it, or the top shelf margarita. The mangonada is a novelty, especially if you like chimoya spice, and the top shelf is an authentic Mexican margarita. Yum! Good food - good service- the atmosphere is a little cold though. It's your regular TexMex so it's a safe choice for a quick meal.

Service was great, very attentive people. Ships and salsa bowls were always full and drinks as well we didn't even had to ask for refills. I wondered about the menudo since I really never could find good menudo around besides my house lol, but the waitress was awesome and bright me a taste portion for me to try and it wasn't bad at all. I've given them a chance so many times, and it seems like the rest of the staff is always in a hurry, they cut me off when I was asking them questions and made my friend feel stupid because they didn't give us the receipt for the signature. At first glance, El Nuevo seemed very open and we weren't too impressed. Then came the food and service which turned us around. The people there are great as well as the food and drinks. I challenge you to try a Chile Relleno and not love it. My wife loves the lunch combos since she can change it up each visit. The salsa and chips are great as well as the margaritas. We were excited to visit this restaurant when it opened. Having just moved to Georgetown from San Antonio, we were craving good Mexican food. As you walk in, the environment is bright but a bit stale. Lots of concrete and a lack of colorful art or anything on the walls. The food is good though not amazing. One thing about this place that really disappoints is the service. The place was almost empty last night and our waitress took out drink order, forgot about our margaritas twice, took our food order and then we never saw her again. I had to get the hostess to find her (which took 10 min before they could find her) at which point we asked for our bill. We sat there in disbelief as we watched her socialize with coworkers for 20 min before she returned with our bill. Remember, TIPS is an acronym for To Insure Prompt Service. He said, "Did you see the please wait to be seated sign? I noticed you sat yourself ". I explained to him that the hostess told us to seat ourselves. He was unapologetic but plain rude. It's really loud in the restaurant, to the point that you can't have a conversation at the table when we went on a Friday when they had live singers. Even without the live music, the cement floors, etc. make it unpleasantly loud. The food is bland, especially for Mexican, except the salsa is a little too spicy if you prefer mild. The "guacamole" was really just smashed avocados with no seasoning, no tomatoes, no chiles, no garlic, etc.. "Ceviche salad" was just shrimp (no fish ceviche offered) and it didn't even taste like lime as ceviche should. There was no dressing either, and chips weren't served with the "ceviche" so I would just call it shrimp on lettuce with tomatoes and thick sliced cucumbers. The Chicken fajita plate was very average and the tortillas were too hard. This was not just a single bad experience. I went here twice, just because there happened to be 2 groups I was with within a week who chose to eat at El Nuevo Mexico. There are many choices in Mexican and TexMex in this area. Probably over a hundred, maybe 200 if you count every taco place within a 10 mile radius, so I won't be back here. *I try not to give 1 star reviews very often unless I've had more than one bad experience because any business can have a bad day but if it happens more than once, that's probably how they are. I also avoid giving too many 5 star reviews because I believe there's always room for improvement so I'm stingy with 5 stars unless it's one of my favorite places and I really look forward to going back. read more

My friend picked this place to try out. they had $5 margaritas on Monday. We both got one and first sip it was overpowering with the house tequila and undrinkable. I was honest about not liking the tequila in that drink and asked if I could have something else. I ordered the margarita flights that were $18. Got the flights and the tequila was not listed on the menu and the waitress did not tell me it was the same crappy house tequila. I told her, I really don't like this tequila. Can I just get the patron marg. She took my flights and brought me the patron margarita and then told me AFTER taking the flights that I couldn't exchange it and I would be charged for both. I sent the patron margarita back. I paid $18 for drinks I did not get to drink. When I told her it was not right what transpired, the waitress told me "I did not ask". I, as your customer is not aware of the policies. If I would have known that I was paying for a drink, then I would not have let her take it and not ordered another drink. Drinks have no flavor. I found a bone in my Al pastor tacos. Beans were gross and had no flavor. the only good thing about that place was the queso. If you want to treat yourself to true TEX-MEX entrees, I highly recommend El Nuevo Mexico which is located in the Wolf Ranch mall (Hwy. 29 & IH 35). We were seated promptly and offered drinks and chips and salsa. Having travelled extensively and having lived in SoCal home of "authentic" Mexican food, I say there is no comparison. The El Nuevo Mexico dishes are served hot and fast,. The parking is open and easy entry and exit. Lots of ample seating in the open and airy restaurant. Happy Hour 2-6pm. The servers are friendly and ready to serve. You gotta try the complimentary garlicky salsa and taco chips. The basket of chips goes fast around the table they are that good. im going to be completely honest, this place is sorry. i don't feel like writing that much either to be real but the food is very very over priced i payed $18 for some al pastor gorditas , shit was mid, and it also came with some refried beans and "spanish" rice. The only good thing i could say about the al pastor gorditas is that i'm fed. that's it. nothing more nothing less. plus i got charged an extra $2 for choosing alpastor and that was no where on the menu and the waitress never said anything about it, and i don't appreciate that. I get it, people need to get paid and running a restaurant ain't cheap but at least try to make up for the prices by having some bomb food. i don't mind paying a little extra for a good meal, especially with my mom. Very good! Salsa, chips, and margarita were all delicious. We ordered the fajitas platter for two and the chicken and beef were both very tasty. We went on a Saturday night and waited about 20 minutes, but once we were seated, we had quick and friendly service. The food here is amazing! Many wouldn't say that but for us it was! The service was a actually great considering we came in on a Friday at 5:30pm. The hostesses were a little awkward but that was fine! Our waitress was very attentive and so were the others that were helping and bringing out food! Difficult to accurately rate this restaurant. The FOOD is GREAT...AWESOME...SOME OF THE VERY BEST! Including last night, we have now dined there 8 times. The Food is over the top good! However, everything else is WAY LESS. I don't know what you call the little girls at the hostess/host stand. They are never very welcoming or inviting...last night our greeting consisted of "Two?" I wanted to say two what? What happened to GOOD EVENING...or HELLO and Welcome to El Nuevo? Then with two booths cleaned and available I was not allowed to sit in a booth but she wanted to sit me at a table..."It is the next server in rotation" was her response. What happened to accommodating the customers request. The "manager" agreed to allow us to be seated at one of the available booths. The waiter was robotic and again void of any personality and we observed how he was with not only us, but his other tables and well, he seemed annoyed he was at work. Again, far from welcoming and inviting attitude. We knew exactly what we wanted to order as we tend to order the same times. The menu Item I always get is two cheese enchiladas and a taco with rice and beans...nothing special but always very good! What I was served was one cheese and one beef enchilada and a taco. I never once had a discussion about any substitutions. When I was given the bill, there was a upchage for 0.50 for beef enchilada. Not really worth the hassle of trying to flag the server down and get it corrected. But for $16.99 for two cheese enchilada and a taco, I honestly expect better service. The restaurant is VERY LOUD and clearly they are having a challenge with staffing (understatement). I will reluctantly be returning because the food is that good, but the service and atmosphere is less than wonderful. read more
