A co-worker of mine recommended this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We get there and I immediately noticed the positive atmosphere this restaurant has. Impressed is an understatement! We ordered a few things and also the taco bar, and everything lived up to the hype my co-worker was talking about! It's difficult to find good Mexican food here in Utah, but this place definitely delivered! On a side note: There seems to be a common negative complaint on here and that is that the volume of the music is too loud. It isn't a Grill it's an awful Karaoke bar that is so loud inside you can't have a conversation without shouting at one another. The handmade tortillas are pretty good. Unfortunately they don't serve those with the taco bar. This place plainly has the ability but isn't really trying. Most of the food is canned. We have been driving by this place for months wondering how it was. The outside of the building is rather bland and it used to be a pretty rowdy night club, but We threw caution to the wind and had lunch there today. We were both pleasantly surprised . The interior is bright and welcoming, nicely decorated and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. The menu is exhaustive to say the least. From the traditional Mexican food you would expect to steaks and sea food. My wife had a Burrito and it was the size of a loaf of bread. We could of easily shared it but there is nothing wrong with left overs either. I had the beef and chicken enchiladas and they were delicious. I have had a hard time finding a resturant around here that serves nice spicy sauce. Theirs was perfect, not too spicy but not boring either. The same can be said for the salsa that comes with the chips. They also have a full Taco bar that looked great but we didn't try it and a bar menu with every Mexican beer I could name as well as a nice Margarita list. We will defiantly be back the next time I have a craving for Mexican food. read more

We have visited the El Paisa Grill in SLC several times. Loved it each time. That changed tonight. The food was awful at the Ogden location. Our table's food came out in various five minute increments. More than 25 minutes apart total. The noise level was so loud from the music, Our waitress couldn't hear us, not to mention we couldn't carry on a conversation across the table. It was an ordeal to get our drinks refilled. The first drinks were warm and flat, the ice machine didn't work. We had to ask for silverware. It was plopped down in a pile, not enough settings for our table of 7. We will not be visiting again and wouldn't recommend it to anybody. One star is too many, but yelp won't let you continue without a star. read more

Place boasted it was the best Mexican food in Utah but it fell well short of that. I was encouraged to see some Mexican workers on their lunch break (a good sign) but the food was mediocre at best. Yes, I graciously give my 5-Star review because ALL YOU CAN EAT TACO BAR. Not just Tacos, but Street Tacos. Do I even need to mention anything else? No, but I will. They have a live Mariachi band. But like a legitimate dressed to the nines full blown band that you can't hear what your party is saying since the acoustics are stellar. So perfect for a first date or awkward extended family get together? I will also mention this place is HUGE which is great for accommodating large parties or a large amount of people on a busy night. El Paisa Grill bills itself as "Utah's Best Mexican Food". It's not. It wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't great. The music was too loud, it claims a Mariachi Band, but the stage was empty, and the music recorded. I ordered the Enchilada Guadalajara, which is a plate of three enchiladas, Beef, Chicken, and Cheese. Again, not bad, but I have had much better, even here in Utah. The refried beans was not as favorable as I routinely enjoy, although I give high marks to the Spanish Rice. The Chips and Salsa which came complimentary were quite good, and I give High Marks to a flavorful, but mild salsa, that even my kids who are quite sensitive to spice, would enjoy. I do want to come back here again in the future and try the All You Can Eat Taco Bar, but El Paisa has a way to go to actually become Utah's Best Mexican Food. read more

This is quickly becoming our new favorite hangout! The all you can eat taco bar is so fun and the tacos are so good! Beans and rice, chips and salsa and drinks are all included in the price of the buffet, and it's very affordable! They have mariachi and karaoke on the weekends and it is always such a blast. Oh man, since moving here from Southern California we having been searching for a good little Mexican food place and we're hoping this place would be it, and it wasn't! Honestly I would've rather have drove to Salt Lake City to go to the Red Iguana. Our food took over an hour to come out, we got one drink refill the entire time we were here, and we had to flag down several servers to get that. The food was served cold, the rice had canned corn, peas, and green beans in it so gross! I ordered the Chile Verde burrito, and was brought the "plate" instead. Great food! We had the taco bar/buffet and it was yummy! Tasted like tacos we would get from a street taco truck However.. it's definetly a new restaurant, when we got there it was a mess getting seated, and once we were seated we never had a waitress. There was a gentlemen (seemed to be a manger of some sort) that brought us drinks and told us how to do the taco bar, but after that nobody ever stopped by to check in, bring us chips and salsa, or refill drinks. Really weird, right? To get our check at the end we had to flag down a waitress from another table. She was very sweet and did apologize. We've been wanting to try El Paisa Grill since it opened up in Ogden. We finally had the time to give it a try. We honestly won't be going again. We had the Taco Bar, we were disappointed. The meats were not very flavorful, very small tortillas. Most street tacos we've came across have a bit larger shells. I didn't find it to be much of a taco bar, as there was very little options up there besides toppings, we were excited to see all the options in a taco bar and we were pretty let down. For the price you pay I believe there should be a few more options. I did find a hair in my rice and beans, a short black hair, for which I knew it wasn't mine nor my husbands since he's bald and I have long hair. This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. They offer a taco bar but we typically just order off the menu. We've tried several burritos, soups, enchiladas and have liked everything we've tried. This was the Worst Meal ever! My husband ordered steak & shrimp. The steak was 1/4 inch thick, burnt and tough as shoe leather. The shrimp were burnt too. The side of rice, was plain white sticky rice. White rice in a Mexican restaurant? I got the grilled chicken burrito. The chicken was like Tyson's pre cooked chicken, no grill marks no seasonings. My stomach started to roll by the time we got to the car. I was sick for 3 days afterwards. Words cannot describe how bad this meal was. Looking around at the other victims, they were all leaving 1/2 to 2/3's of their food on their plates. Oh and the service was terrible too, and who wants to listen to an overweight old man singing karaoke about wanting to get him some. Terrible night. Now these aren't going to be the best tacos you have ever eaten but they will probably be the best all you can eat taco bar tacos you have ever had. Had to ask for water several times. Service was ridiculously slow... There were many workers just standing around. It was 2pm on a Friday. Hardly any customers.. I'm judging this place for exactly what it is: an all-you-can-eat taco bar! Sure, I've had better tacos in my life. I make better tacos. But the value is there for the all you can eat offering. My personal best was 9 tacos. One day I will make it to 12! They have plenty of taco options at the counter and a full cold bar of salsa, picas, and other toppings. These are street tacos, but it's all you can eat. The cons: the place is so big that I don't think that it's cleaned as well as it could be.
