First time here...we tried the Taco buffet..pretty tasty, wish it had a little more variety...probably will be back again.

I've been to the West Valley location several times and loved it. The Ogden location is close to home. It's much better than the West Valley location because it has a larger variety of meats at the taco bar. The restaurant is larger and very clean. I love the atmosphere. Food is better than average. Why do the taco tortillas have to be so small you can barely pick them up?

The food was incredible! Flavorful, generous servings, good quality. The downside was the service. Bad from the beginning. We asked for a booth; the hostess said no. When we pointed to a empty 4-person booth, hostess responded that people were already sitting there. NO ONE sat in that booth the entire hour we were there. Our waitress was incredibly slow. No drink refills. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Asked for hot sauce, received salsa. We were super excited to try this place. We went there for lunch and there was tons of people standing around and we didn't know what was going on. We were asked if we wanted the taco bar or the menu before we were seated and we didn't know because we had never been there before. We chose the taco bar and there's a huge line of people waiting to get the tacos. I tried 4 different kinds of meat and I only liked one of them. Some kind of sweet pork maybe al pastor. The beans were extremely salty and I don't know what they were doing with the rice. It was like fried rice. We weren't impressed at all and we probably will try the menu if we go again but we probably wouldn't bother. read more

We came here on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant is huge and if it gets full that place will be really noisy. It was already noisy for us and it was quite empty. The setup is pretty simple if you do the all-you-can-eat taco bar. You grab a plate, tell them how many tacos you want, and they dish that meats out to you behind the counter. They also have the rice and beans behind the counter. I'm not sure why it is set up this way and why they have to dish out the meats but I'm sure it has to do with making sure people don't take too much. The toppings are on an island so you can take as much of those as you want. They had a couple different salsas, lettuce, some pickled vegetables, jalapenos, and a few other things. You can load your tacos up with whatever you want. I thought the meats are really good - my favorites were the Chile Verde and chicken. We did look over the menu and thought coming back to try something else would be great. The menu is quite large. For all you can eat street tacos I give it four stars. read more

Hubby tried the taco bar and I ordered the seafood enchiladas off of the menu. The tacos looked good and were piled high with meat, and they had a few different salsa options, which was nice. But when my husband pushes away a plate after one taco, you know something's not right. He said the chicken was so greasy it had lost all texture - "mush," he said, and the barbacoa was "tasteless." The pork, which I had a bite of, was crunchy (over cooked). The only decent taco my husband tried was the carne asada. My enchiladas were just OK. Nothing special or memorable. I always sigh a little when a restaurant serves a side with clearly pre-packaged, frozen veggies (I'm talking cubed carrots, folks). El Paisa made me sigh. Our server, while pleasant, wasn't attentive. We went the entire meal without a drink refill. The atmosphere is also lacking. Soccer and Nickelodeon played on TVs throughout the restaurant while we were there. If you closed your eyes and listened you would believe you were in Chuck-E-Cheese, rather than a Mexican food restaurant. I doubt we'll be back. read more

The food was good, very good prices for the amount of food you get. I got the taco bar and my husband got the cheese enchiladas. Both were great. The problem is the staff, we saw her maybe 3 times. We had to ask another waitress that we say 20+ times helping her tables for a refill of our drinks. They ran out of chips so we didn't get our chips and salsa until right before we were leaving. Finally got a chance to visit the new Ogden location! The food is just as good as the West Valley location. The new building is large and fun. Karaoke and Mariachis are always a plus! Don't forget to try one of the awe inspiring Molcajetes. One of my favorite dishes is the CARNE ASADA ESTILO JALISCO. Perfectly seasoned flank steak with beans and rice. They also offer MANY shrimp dishes and cocktails. read more

They have so many options for food! I love the all you can eat tacos for my husband not me lol. Decided to give the restaurant a second try and eat the taco bar. No bueno... was not impressed. The different meat dishes at the taco bar should be labeled so you know what they are. There was a communication gap between employees and customers as what each was. $12.99 is on the high end for what you get. Service was slow, we won't go back. read more

This place is awesome! I had to stop myself from ordering everything on the menu and remember that I can always come back. I've been waiting to try this place and was so glad one opened in Ogden as my friends have been talking about the one in West Valley for years. On my first visit I got the all you can eat taco bar. It was delicious. My favorite is the Al Pastor. Rice and beans and condiments are on point as well. Our second visit, last night, we accidentally came in 5 minutes to close. They were still very friendly - having worked in the food industry I know how annoying that is. Beto was a great server. We got the molcajete supreme which was amazing! I could drink the sauce. Great Mexican food 12.99 taco bar time to eat my weight lol most places I visit the meat is dry or bland or the portions are so small you eat mostly fillers but not here took my wife and adult daughter here for dinner I had a beef chimcunga that filled a large dinner platter the wife had a chicken chimmy and the daughter got a beef plate of tostada that were 4 of them and they hung over the edge of a large dinner platter. Needless to say the floor show karaoke and the food was a hit with us. Sat us pretty quickly. Had to ask for a server and menus because they forgot us (waited 20 minutes) Gave us chips and salsa but didn't give us our drinks. I had to ask again it was again (another 15). Our food came out an hour later. I had to get up and ask for utensils and napkins. Food was blahh. If you wanted Mexican food. You should just go to Betos. I promise you it's better. A big group of people next to us got up and left probably because of the same service. I do not recommend. 1 star because Horchata was good! We went to El Paisa Grill tonight to celebrate two birthdays. We were seated in a timely manner. Our waitress was very slow to take our drink and food orders then it took over 15 minutes to get our drinks. Our food was delivered to another table, placed on the table then placed back on the servers tray. We watched it be taken back to the kitchen and several minutes later the same food was delivered to our table. Needless to say, the food was cold. We never got refills on our drinks after asking the waitress for refills. The fajitas were well seasoned but chewy. Full menu is a little pricey for what you get. We were also disappointed that the Mariachi band was not playing as advertised. read more

The food was very good but it took almost an hr to come out and that was basically the only good thing there. The manager and server were really nice but with 12 of us, they only gave us 4 menus. we got our drinks and they basically stopped paying attention to us. The place was not full and we ran out of drinks twice and it was hard to even get anyones attention let alone get our drinks refilled. When we asked for boxes it took 15 minutes of no one coming to where we had to ask again and they only gave us 1 so we had to physically go to the kitchen to get our own boxes. We were not going to leave a tip or at maximum 5.00 but they charged every one gratuity on the bill so they basically got 15.00 for shitty service. I sincerely wish I could give this restaurant NEGATIVE stars. What a TERRIBLE place. This is the second time we have gone, the first being right after they opened so we had hoped it was a fluke, it most definitely wasn't. The staff is horrible! They we're too busy hanging out at the bar and watching the game to do their jobs. We ordered the taco bar and not only was it absolute garbage (cheese tasted like it had been open in the fridge for weeks, flavorless meat) but we were charged 12.99 EACH. $12.99 for the whole 5 tacos we each managed to choke down?? I could not believe it. I had to wait for 5 minutes to even get someone to ring us out so we could leave, and when they finally decided to show up they couldn't even figure out how to run the register. The host was a younger woman dressed in regular clothes i didnt even know she worked there. I thought it was strange that it was brang to us within 5 minutes of us ordering which shocked me I dont think that's even long enough to cook the meat let alone get it ready. Very disappointed. It looks like a roller skating rink turned into a restaurant. The 'live band' was a projector screen of a band, the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other. The menu was filthy. They brought us chips, didn't refill. Ordered drinks didn't refill. Only one waiter. Our appetizer came AFTER we were completely finished with our dinner which was nothing special. The taco bar looked good except for the kids digging through the grated cheese with their fingers. Kids were running everywhere, on the stage. My son commented "well, now the kids are drowning out the loud music." It was literally a circus atmosphere. Ask to have appetizer removed from bill, they said they couldn't. It sat uneaten on the table. This place has a fun atmosphere with mariachi music. It's like stepping into a different world. The food is pretty good, just a bit pricy. I don't think I'd call it the best Mexican food in Utah but it doesn't disappoint either. read more

My stars were all over the place from 0 then to 5 and I finally settled on a 3. First their sign says mariachis and margaritas. They had neither and they don't have even a beer license which was more than disappointing for a night out. The salsa was just meh, but then we asked for something a little more spicy and they brought out a habanero salsa that was great. We ordered the Supreme Molcajetes bowl which came out quickly but without the tortillas. It took at least another 5 frustrating minutes to get the tortillas which were flour when we ordered corn and they only brought us 3 for a $30 bowl that feeds 2-3 people. BUT once we had everything the food was beyond delicious--hence the mixed feelings on the amount of stars. Lastly, the server never came back to refill our drinks (water). Would we go back??? The food was so good that we may try it again after they are a little more established and have their service figured out. Although we didn't try it, the taco bar looked legit. read more

We went to the Ogden El Paisa Grill tonight and was so very impressed! The salsa bar and taco bar were amazing! The pico de gallo, and house salsa were better than any Mexican restaurant I've been to! The atmosphere was fun. There were several televisions. There is a stage that I'm sure has bands or something happening at times. It would be a fun place to go with friends! I have been to the Salt Lake El Paisa but the Ogden Grill is much better in all aspects ! read more

Not gonna lie, I was very excited to eat here because the location in West Valley was very delicious. Few things that were disappointing about this experience, the first thing being that there wasn't any beer/alcohol, not a deal breaker, just disappointing. Second disappointment, the server couldn't answer questions we were asking about the menu, really the only thing we got was "oh I dunno." Even more disappointing was the server, had to wave her down to get a refill on my drink and also the check, besides dropping the food off they never really came to check on our table. Third disappointment was the food, not that it tasted bad, but I ordered the fajitas and it was basically a pile of peppers on the skillet, barely had any meat (I ordered the $18 plate), came with three small tortillas, warm beans and cold rice. The taco bar which my wife and father ordered was good, so maybe this was just an off day for the restaurant. It's debatable that I will return to this location, hopefully next time you guys can step up your game. read more

This was my worst dining experience ever. None of the food at the lunchtime buffet was labeled and this gringo didn't know a jalapeno pepper from a bell pepper. After three bites the heat started and wouldn't stop. Fire in the mouth and throat, flushed face, stress in the chest, eyes tearing and went through about 10 napkins with extreme salivating. I told the waitress what had happened to me and suggested they label things, at least for heat rating. She relayed that to the cook, she said. I don't know if they will really do anything about it for other unsuspecting customers but I won't be coming back to find out. Especially after my husband and I paid $27 for this horrible experience after tax and tip. His lunch was also ruined by the heat but his reaction was not as extreme as mine. read more

We went here with some friends (5 of us all together) on 10/7/17. The parking lot was packed and we were worried about a long wait but were pleasantly surprised when we were sat quickly. From there, our experience went downhill fairly quickly. The waitress acted annoyed that we were even there, telling us that certain things they didn't have. Not that they ran out, that they didn't have it and was snappy when we said it was on the menu. She got one of us the wrong drink, and we received the chips and salsa after the drinks. It was busy so we didn't think much of it, until we watched her put chips and salsa out for another table next to us before they even sat down. We never got a refill, my meal had beans on it when I specifically asked that they were not put on it, my friend asked for some tortillas to eat his fajitas with, which one we found weird when all he got was the chicken and peppers with nothing else, well we never seen the tortillas and she never came back to the table until we were all so angry that we just wanted our check to leave. 10 minutes after she went to get the checks, she came back to ask what was on which check. We had already told her when she said she was going to get the check the first time. When we finally got our checks, we made sure she didn't charge us for what we never got, we ended up adding them all up knowing that if we gave her our cards, we would be stuck there forever, and throwing the cash on the table and leaving. I used to be a waitress, I get it when it's busy, but we were downright ignored. We never got a drink refill, she never checked to make sure our meals were correct and she couldn't bother to bring out some simple tortillas. She made sure that the table next to us got everything they could want, while ignoring us. We are normally really good tippers, but she made us so mad that we left the leftover change from $74.96. We won't be back, we know other Mexican restaurants that appreciate our business. read more

As many other costumer I as well gave this restaurant a second try, the first time I visited Paisa Grill was shortly after they opened and I was able to notice that the staff needed some training so I did not want to judge the book by it first chapter... however after giving this restaurant a second chance I had again a horrendous experience with this places service. We ordered an appetizer which came to the table after we almost finished our main entrees. Waitress never checked on us or asked us if we wanted to refill our drinks. The waitress finally brought the guacamole as we were thinking on leaving but still forgot the chips, and not only that bus also had the audacity to ring it on the check, an appetizer than we didn't even eat. I would highly recommend to anyone to please think it three times before coming to this place. Worst service I've had in years. I would not recommend this place not even to an enemy. read more
