I spoke to Gisela over the phone and she was rude and non-accommodating. The general manager is David and he was not available today. As a regional manager myself, this location lacks the proper management and customer service training (based on my interaction today). I don't know if it's COVID or what but this location has went downhill in the last few months. First off, what are these portions? I've noticed at multiple El Pollo Inkas that they've sized down their portions for carry-out orders while keeping the same price but this location in particular is HORRIBLE about it. I got the Vainitas de Pollo and the rice portion was dreadfully small and there was barely any chicken. So I'm paying $14 for a dish that's 99% green beans with a smidgeon of rice and some morsels of chicken? How is that good? We also ordered a large Aguadito de Pollo that was mostly broth, they also didn't include the chicken thigh we've normally seen in it. They also charge higher than Inka Express does for some reason. Additionally the customer service at this location is, for lack of a better word, atrocious. We stopped eating in altogether because every time we go in, they leave us standing in the entryway for 15-20 minutes with no one checking the front, even if it's empty inside, and if we would ask how long the wait was they'd snap and tell us to sit in the lobby so they could put our names down. Every time we call to place an order, they're very rude over the phone. When we called in tonight to place our order, a man answered the phone and pretended he couldn't hear my husband and hung up. When we called right back he answered again, realized we were trying to place a to-go order, and unceremoniously handed the phone to a woman who took our order without any complications. Ultimately I just don't understand the point of coming here anymore because the staff is rude, it's overpriced for the reduced portions, and overall it's just not as great as it used to be. read more

Peruvian arroz chaufa is one of my husband's favorite comfort meals. When I first met him in NY, he had his go to restaurant to order this dish. When we moved away from his original apartment, Pio Pio became his mainstay. Naturally, when we moved here to LA, he had to go find a local option. After trying a few places, including several locations of El Pollo Inka, this Lawndale branch is now his go-to spot for arroz chaufa. I also enjoy the dish but I do rotate between ordering chaufa and ordering their lomo saltado or sometimes even just the classic rotisserie chicken leg. The one thing he is disappointed at is their green sauce. It is too watery for his liking and I do agree that the aji verde from his favorite spots in NY are of better quality. We had the worst experience at this restaurant today. When we placed our order we asked for water. While others around us were served water and soda after we were seated, we were passed up 3 times. When our soup arrived the waitress placed our bowls at the end of our table rather than in front of us, (soup was warm at best not hot). Finally received our water! We were told the "green sauce" will be right out; they never brought it out. Tables around us were served bread right away, once again we were passed over. We ordered an appetizer and it arrived 3 minutes after our entree , ( both items arrived tepid , not hot).! We asked for bread again and it took another 5 minutes for it to arrive. Waiter walked by the tables several times, water glasses never refilled. Several wait staff on hand to serve. With so many restaurants folding, El Pollo Inka you need to step up service. I had been wanting to get Peruvian food for a while and was searching for a good Peruvian place in the area. El Pollo Inka came up and I know that it's a chain but I had somewhat high hopes for it. However, the food was just okay. I've definitely had better Peruvian places. I ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Tallarin de Mariscos to go. The entrees came with a side of chicken and rice soup, which was much appreciated. I love Lomo Saltado but this one just wasn't as good as others. The dish had a ton of rice and other fillers and not as much meat, it was also surprisingly a bit dry. The Tallarin de Mariscos was a bit better. The dish had good flavor, albeit a bit heavy on bell peppers, so if you're not a fan of bell peppers, I would skip it. I can see why it's popular, I saw a ton of people dining there and picking up orders. It's an okay spot, if you're looking for Peruvian in the area. I have been to the El Pollo Inka on Artesia in Gardena where I first discovered Jalea! We loved it and the huge platter served my whole family (We ordered a side of Yuca but found out it was also included in the Jalea!) More recently we ordered Jalea and the Calamari was overcooked and dry( but the manage replaced the Calamari no charge) This happened twice,so another time,later we happened to be near the Lawndale restaurant ! We ordered Jalea($24) we got a huge platter,it wasn't overcooked and actually tasted better than the Artesia Bvd restaurant, with lots of shrimp and loaded with nuggets of fish and Calamari! There was so much on the platter,that we couldn't even see the whole fish beneath all of that other food!It also came with two complementary containers of Cilantro soup! Now recently we ordered to go from Lawndale the food was served in a much smaller container with only a few shrimp and you could see the whole fish on the bottom because it was so much less food! So we we complained to the manager (David Ramos) He apologized and said next time you come I will give you a 50 % discount! When we got to the restaurant having ordered ahead the acting manager called me a liar(ie she didn't believe me!),said she couldn't honor David's offer as he wasn't there!The portions have reduced to about a quarter of what they were and there was no Yuca inside! The side order of Yuca was cold, as of three weeks ago they no longer give complementary Cilantro soup I was told when I called to complain! I WILL NOT GO THERE AGAIN! I used to only get lomo saltado, but tallarin verde with steak is actually a lot more tasty. It's like oil based pesto pasta with crunchy, flavorful steak on top. Kudos still for the chaufa (con pollo)--chicken fried rice with egg--I always liked this dish even if the pieces of chicken are random different sizes, just like the eggs, and sometimes is a bit salty, but has really good flavor. Surprise was that the menu on the website listed $14 but it's a lunch special for $11.25 (when I came in) to pick it up. Hence, 3 1/2 stars becomes 4 stars for that. (I'd suggest cutting the chicken and eggs into more consistent bite size pieces to increase the rating on this dish). I also ordered the vintania (green beans stir fry with chicken and red onions w/no french fries) that came with a side of white rice. I enjoyed this too but think the chaufa is better. I stopped getting the lomo saltado with beef because it tends to be dry. But I made the mistake of ordering the tallarin verde with steak based on another yelper's review--but it was overcooked and dry meat, and the pesto pasta is way overcooked and bland-- for $18. Please do NOT order this! This is why I had to downgrade to 3 stars overall. The cilantro rice soup that accompanies a main entree (and the green salsa) are nice touches. I think it would be nice to add some bits of chicken in there for a more tasty soup! read more
