9/20/19 - Updated Review So last night I had dinner really late!! So I came in and no one was at the counter to take my order and I saw one young lady but she had her phone and her purse so I knew she was off. Then another customer came up to the counter to get the salsa because their was none at the salsa bar. She took the pitcher and began filling up the container, when she brought it back the manager appeared and told her that she couldn't touch the pitchers without gloves. So I knew that, and was wondering what is really going on here!!! Anyway, the manager took my order. I went to the soda machine and got a coke, then I stepped over to to the salsa bar to get the salsas I needed for my chicken tostada salad. I am taking my time while watching for them to call my number. I walk back to the counter, there's my food just sitting on the back counter. I looked at the person just standing there and I told her that was for me. She called the girl that was going home to give it to me. Some strange management was going on last night. Maybe they should just do drive-thru orders after 9. But I prefer going in to order and I get my own condiments. Because every time I go through the drive-thru they never give me what you ask for. My tostada was good as usual, I love the salsas and the hot peppers!!!! My dinner with the $5.00 coupon and soda came up to $8.06. Not bad!!! read more

As a regular customer, today may have been one of the worst days I have had as a customer in pollo loco. I was served two pieces of chicken as if they had searched for the two smallest pieces to give me. Usually even though I order in person, my meal is served in a plastic container with my sides in paper cups, but today I was served my entire meal on a paper plate, as if I was receiving a lunch meal back in elementary school. For 12$ I expected a decent meal. This looked more like the "kids meal" on the menu. Even the kids meal would have been a better deal because it comes with a drink and I bet it would have been the same serving size as whatever was served to me on this paper plate. Honestly this is the worst meal I have had at pollo loco. Also, the bathrooms were filthy and neither of them had soap. I don't know how the workers are washing their hands when they use the bathroom. Please do better. read more

I don't know how I always forget how great of a fast food chain El Pollo Loco is. It's probably because the lack of locations in the area, but if you ever feel a chicken craving DO COME HERE. It's not usual for me to write reviews for fast food chains because they're practically around the same with variances in service. However, I gotta give it up for El Pollo Loco for quick service and pretty darn tasty chicken for a fast food place. When you enter you can see they have plenty of specials. The under 500 calories, $5 meals, value menu, family packs (8+ pieces of chicken), and even deals for up to 4 pieces of chicken. For ~$14 you can get the 4 piece chicken combo that comes with 2 small sides/warm tortillas, and a drink enough to feed 2 people. I tend to favor the flour tortillas and mac n cheese/pinto beans for sides, but they have other alternatives such as black beans, coleslaw, spanish rice, etc. that you can choose from. Oddly enough the side options aren't on the main menu above but at a menu right at the register in case you were wondering where you can find them. The chicken pieces here don't skimp on the side and since they've been slow cooking on a grill all day, they're moist and the skin has a nice crisp without being fried. Honestly, the 4 piece made us super full so you can probably go for a piece or two less and still leave feeling satisfied. As for the location, the restaurant is kept pretty clean and they have a large enough parking lot if you want to dine it. Yay for El Pollo Loco! read more

We've gotten food from here a few years ago and weren't that impressed. We tried it again recently and pleasantly discovered it's totally delicious! All of our chicken pieces were large, juicy, and flavorful. They gave us ample salsas and tortillas, all neatly packed. I haven't written a review in years but this place deserves one for turning it around with its attention to food quality, careful packaging, and flavor! We'll be back soon, thank you! read more

Pollo Loco, How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee 3 piece meal to the depth and breadth and height of marinated chicken. I love you, I really do. Seriously though: chicken, churros, rice are bomb here. This is one of the few "fast-food" places my mother likes because it's real food. I'm sorry to say there aren't enough Pollo Locos in the SF bay area but LA is crawling with them. I know people in the bay area are against chain restaurants but as far as the food is concerned EPL is like a regular mom and pop restaurant with great food that happens to be a chain. International blvd may scare some people but I don't think it's dangerous at all. It's about a 10 minute walk from Fruitvale BART. read more

I love the black beans (I add the onions, pico, cilantro and salsa for flavor) with tortilla chips. The guac is not that great. It needs more umf and flavor! The chips are not greasy. I like the kids meal cuz it's just enough and fills me up with 2 legs, salad, corn tortillas and lemonade. I like this spot cuz it's exceptionally clean and the employees make it right when told there's an issue. I'm really in a drama free zone and they make it happen here. Great customer service, for sure! The neighborhood doesn't impress me but I can travel in various parts of the Bay w/o an issue, so is ok for me. read more

Food tastes delicious. I love the chicken, amazing flavor. A whole leg and breast? I couldn't believe this was a fast food restaurant. I've also had the taco bowl, not bad.
