A friend and I came in today and both ordered the Mango Shrimp Taco platter. While the shrimp was cooked well, I feel there was no seasoning in the taco, and I couldn't taste the mango at all, despite seeing the physical bits of mango in the taco. It was supposed to come with avocado, but there were none in either of our plates. I'm not a fan of their tortillas, as the one served with the platter seemed like a hybrid flour/corn one. Perhaps I should just stick to having their chicken dishes since it's in their name, but I'm not sure I'll be back. Rice and beans were also very lightly seasoned, such that it was borderline bland. About 3 months ago I came to this El Pollo Loco location and left because there was no chicken. Came back today to give them another chance and again there is no chicken, and I was told that I would have to wait 15-20 minutes for the chicken to be cooked. Two times no chicken. Generally I would have preferred El Pollo Loco rather than KFC, but at least they have chicken. read more

The food was amazing but the restaurant was awful all the tables were empty but they were dirty and needed wiping down. There was trash on the floor and need to be swept. Customers could not throw their own cups away so they were left on a table for the duration of the time we were there. the trash bins closest to the doors were full and not changed out. read more

Why is it everytime I come for anything other than that first time for churros and it wasn't even authentic that it's a fail! I mean it's a franchise right? So why is the food not consistent? I'm just baffled by why I cant get decent food or service, once I came and ordered and the restuarant was not packed in fact we were the first ones there placed our meal and they forgot about us! How does that work when we were the first ones there. Manager in corner sees us while every person that came in after got their food and we had a baby that was a bit loud cause she was waiting for her food..i came through drive thru the other times and then even came inside 2 times from an order placed at the window...stating food is made fresh inhouse by the manager and given a hard dried up stale tamale! Really now..is this even edible? I ordered the 1 tamale 1 taco 1 side 7.xx. I know you would not serve this to your children! It broke apart, upon unwrapping and crumbled. Stomach aches and food poisoning cant even swallow the masa was hard and stale reheated days old you need the health department to take charge of what's going on..the photo speaks for itself! Extremely disappointed having to drive a ways for it..I'll stick to taco bus if this us the service and food I get from a franchise. Pretty good healthy alternatives in the menu. Only thing was my chicken was dry. Rice is good, mashed potatoes and cole slaw was also good. They also have a nice and fresh sauce/topping mini bar. Would try again hopefully their chicken is as moist as the rotisserie chicken at the HEB across the street. read more

I went to El Pollo Loco on a special preview day. We hit up the drive-thru for some free food! The person who took out order was a little confused, which is 100% understandable considering it's their soft opening. Even with the confusion, she was very nice and provided great service. The young man who took our coupon and handed us the food was also very nice, and he had a big smile. I got the black bean and chicken bowl. The broccoli was steamed and plentiful. The black beans had a lot of flavor. I was actually surprised at how good they were. The rice was orange and had a nice flavor. There was a lot of it, too. I was a little worried my 500 calorie bowl might have been way over 500 calories. My kids loved it, and they usually only like white rice. The avocado was an odd color, but it's rare to get really good avocado at a fast food place, so I will give them a pass there. The chicken was ok. It was below chipotle in quality, but it was much better than a Taco Bell or Taco Cabana. The cotija cheese was nice and salty. My husband got the avocado chicken bowl. He didn't give me many details other than "it's good". He got chips, and they were very thin and nicely salted. We thought the red salsa was watery and lame, but the green sauce was really good. We also got two churros. They were, of course, delicious. How could you go wrong with fried dessert? We will definitely go back, and I'd probably go there over chipotle just for the broccoli. My family and I had lunch here just a few days after their opening. The line to order food was a little slow, but is to be expected from a new staff. While in line to order, it is refreshing to see the chicken cooking on the charbroiled grills in plain view. Awesomely enough, the place does not smell like smoke. We ordered the 3 course 12 piece family meal, which included a mango salad, mixed chicken, charro beans, Mexican rice and 4 churros and 3 drinks. The chicken pieces are a little on the smaller side; however, they are perfectly cooked and are flavorful. So, definitely order a little extra chicken. Rice and beans are off the chain and as close to authentic as you'll get for a restaurant. Churros were not your traditional texture but still met expectations and devoured after lunch. This combo was plenty of food for my family of 4 and the price was reasonable at $32 after tax. I am thrilled that we live so close and will be frequent customers. This is a breath of fresh air having a restaurant with quality food to enjoy when on the run. We are loco for pollo spreading the word around town :). read more

Only tried this place twice and came to this location because it's close to my job but every time I've been so far the chicken has tasted like it's been sitting. I had got a burrito my second time trying out there food and the chicken was old and hard like left over pieces. This was my first time going to Pollo Loco. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did not feel pressured to hurry up and order. Luckily it wasn't lunch time so I was able to check out the menu. They do have a good variety but I ended up getting a salad and the cashier recommended I get the avocado sauce. It was delicious. I will definitely be going back. As a couple of others have said the place has gone down hill since it's opening. I went in last Monday at 4 pm on my way home from work. I placed my order to go for my husband and children for dinner. Got home and the entire order was incorrect. My family was hungry so we made the best of it. By 10 pm my kids and my husband were sick. My family was sick for almost 5 days after eating the food. Coincidentally I'm the only that didn't order anything to eat and you guessed it I'm the only one that wasn't sick. Okay. So I was a fan of pollo loco the first time I went. But the last few times I have been less than impressed. This time in particular I was in the drive thru and I was sitting there for a good 5 mins waiting for someone to start talking... They never did. So I said "are you there?" And a girl said "yeah. What do you want?" I started to place my order... She paused... And came back with "what?" Starting to get annoyed I repeated myself only to have her giggling and then snapping back to attention only hearing parts of my order. It was terribly frustrating. Then a guy came on, who was only slightly more tolerable than she was. I get to the window and by this point I'm very annoyed... Their food always takes forever and she handed me the bag, I was so frustrated I had asked if she put sauce in the bag for my salad and chicken... She just said yeah. (Keep in mind she had never asked and I had never told her what I wanted) so I asked what kind, she was rude and short with all of her answers and I was just over it so I left. Get home to find they left out all of our sides one order entirely and our drinks, which I was too frustrated with the service to even remember to ask for them. Their fried food, like chips and tostadas and chicken strips are over fried and their fried food tastes like a modge podge of things from over shared and old fry oil. haven't been back here for few months. Tonight I came back and wow this place has gone down hill. I came in and it wasn't busy, the lady at the register just finished ringing up a customer and she went in preparing the food, I saw she grabbed the lettuce with her barehand, specially after touching the money at the register. I stood right at the register for almost 5 minutes before a guy came to take my order and I was still watching her. After finished ringing me up, he went inside and said something to that lady, then I saw she put a pair of gloves on. So at least my food was clean from That point on. I wasn't gonna write a review until I got home knowing they didn't get my order right. I ordered a tostada salad with no cheese and beans. 3 people asked me 3 different times and I repeatedly told them no beans and no cheese. I got home and there are beans and cheese in my food.
